"If L’Atelier sounds interesting, but maybe not quite interesting enough to spend hundreds of dollars on one of their tasting menus, then try its sister restaurant first. Le Jardinier is located directly underneath L’Atelier. It has a shiny space that’s fitting for the sort of fussy dishes you’ll eat here. The menu is seasonal, but we’ve thoroughly enjoyed pretty much everything we’ve had here—dishes like shrimp in parmesan polenta, sunchoke velouté, and wagyu bavette (the cocktails are exceptional too). We actually like this place better for lunch than dinner, because they offer a prix fixe menu for $58 per person that’s worth making up an excuse to blow off work this Friday." - mariana trabanino, ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo
"The French translation of “the gardener” is a fitting moniker for this Design District gem, where lush greens feature prominently in the tasteful modern decor and vegetable-forward menu. This one-Michelin-star restaurant boasts an outdoor dining space suited for enjoying the Miami weather while savoring a seasonal selection of dishes." - Allison Ramirez
"Head to the Miami Design District for an elevated celebration with a five-course, prix fixe menu at this unassuming Michelin-starred modern-meets-retro eatery. Dishes include Hamachi crudo with sake-pear vinaigrette and caviar, pumpkin agnolotti with foie gras and pecan brown butter, king salmon with wasabi beurre blanc, and beef tenderloin with black garlic and truffled potato pavé. There’s an optional wine pairing for an additional $135 and a Kaluga caviar upgrade for those wanting to splurge. Price: $185 per person and an additional $135 for wine pairing" - Alona Martinez
"The vegetable-forward restaurant serves a four-course Christmas Eve menu from noon to 5 p.m. Options include tuna tataki with avocado, cauliflower velouté, pumpkin agnolotti with foie gras, seared scallops, and veal chop with chanterelle mushroom fricassé. Dessert features “The Ornament” with pain d’épice chantilly. Price: $155 per person, with an optional $135 wine pairing." - Alona Martinez
"Nestled in Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts, this French restaurant joined its Miami and New York outposts in receiving a Michelin star. Le Jardinier, which means “the gardener,” takes notes from the seasons, with bright, whimsical dishes and refreshing drinks that reflect the possibilities of local produce. Find plates of burrata paired with pumpkin seeds, kabocha squash, and spiced poached apple; spiced duck a l’orange with turnip, confit kumquats, and treviso; and squid ink shellfish ravioli with lemongrass foam. Those looking for a more casual experience can opt for lunch service or dine at the bar, where Le Jardinier serves an unassumingly great gruyere cheeseburger alongside cumulous pommes dauphine." - Brittany Britto Garley
