"There are tons of French restaurants on the Upper West Side, but most of them feel like the kind of places you’d go with someone who has a personal shopper at Brooks Brothers. Le Petit Rooster is an Upper West Side French spot that doesn’t feel like those places. You might hear Tame Impala playing during your dinner here and there’s $8 glasses of wine during Happy Hour. You can usually walk right in and get a table so it’s a great place to meet a friend for drinks and a few small plates like grilled oysters, or ratatouille. If you’re hungry enough for a full dinner, share some rotisserie chicken and the mushroom gnocchi. After your meal, be sure to take a moment and appreciate how good it is to be full of French food that cost less than one Airpod." - Nikko Duren

We had the croquettes (amazing), the bone marrow (great), the duck magret (good), and the half-chicken (great). I'd go back again in a heartbeat. Great service, great food, good vibe. Great addition to the UWS.

Oh man! What a welcome opening in the neighborhood! They are still in the soft open phase, and they're still finalizing their liquor license (only beer, wine and cider for now). That being said, this is an inspired French bistro! There are classics, modern revisions of classics and then there are the classics that are Le Petit Rooster's only! Their inventive take on escargot (w black garlic and cynar) is familiar enough to be comforting but so delicious you can't help but be excited. Same for their Cote de bœuf for 2. The duck rillettes, carrot terrine, razor clams escabeche and French onion soupe were all don't miss items. Their wine by the glass program covers almost all of France and their bottle program covers the rest! Great pricing on wines, too, including a few super-allocated bottles. I was impressed w service and management presence on the floor- the GM touched our table three times during the course of our meal. We haven't felt so welcomed at a new place, maybe ever! Their dessert menu is still under construction but they offered a miso scented creme caramel the evening we dined, perfect balance of sweet and savory. We are definitely coming back!

Great new addition to UWS! Started with the beet salad and cucumber gazpacho which were both so fresh and delicious. The rotisserie is one of the primary dishes and definitely a must eat - crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely return.

Was hoping to like this place a lot more. I went for lunch and it was pretty dead. Decided to try the signature dish (roasted chicken) and was not particularly impressed. At least lunch offered a much better value to dinner. Ingredients seem solid and venue feels upscale but something is missing. I may try it one more time in hopes that I went on an off day. Will update review after my next visit.

Prices are a little high since it’s tapas style and you have to order a lot of dishes to fill your crew, and the chicken wasn’t super impressive. Service was okay, but because they’re fairly new I think they’re still getting in the hang of things and not quite up to par yet. A bit of a weird vibe for what’s a somewhat upscale French restaurant by food/price standards, with a coffee shop in the upfront, but lots of space and a cozy area in the way back make it interesting. Decent front bar area too.

The Le Petit rooster was wonderful. We were welcomed by a warm and friendly Staff in a charming cafe atmosphere. The Raclette & Ham Croquettes were tasty and full flavored. The Beet Salad with plums and goat cheese was hearty and delicious. The Steak Frites was cooked at a perfect temperature and was juicy and tender. The accompaniment of different sauces was flavorful . The creme brûlée was succulent! Definitely recommend Le Petit rooster!

Elegant, chic yet cozy space with food to match. My friend and I shared two appetizer specials - beets and a grilled shrimp with a citrus dressing - -both were delicious. We followed this up by two menu items - - scallops and monkfish. Both were flavorful, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. We had drunk six bottles of a delicious pinot noir suggested by our waiter before we realized we should have ordered a bottle. Oh well - -next time - because there will be a next time.
