Where to Eat Around Valley Fair and Santana Row

"Left Bank is a sister restaurant to LB Steak and though it might be the simpler of the two siblings, it is by no means less tasty. Acting as the brasserie on the block, Left Bank serves French cuisine with iconic regional dishes like escargot, cheese fondue, and beef bourguignon. There are also daily specials prompted by the chef’s happy excursions to local farmers markets." - Paolo Bicchieri, Johanna Harlow

Here’s Where to Eat While You’re Holiday Shopping in the Bay Area

"From vibrant Indian cuisine to artful tapas, San Jose’s Santana Row hosts a veritable smorgasbord of dining options. But if you’re looking for something both elegant and relatively approachable, Left Bank Brasserie’s chic, bistro-inspired dining room makes a great choice. On the front patio you’ll have views of the Row’s towering tree and inside, the holidays usually mean flourishes like red ribbons tied up all into bows and twinkling lights draped around the window frames. On the menu expect well-done versions of French classics including escargots, beef bourguignon, and bouillabaisse." - Lauren Saria, Becky Duffett

Decided to pop in and check the place out for lunch and were pretty happy with our experience. Since it was a beautiful day we opted to sit outside. The food here is good, not too pricey, and the drinks are well-made. However, service was a bit slow (most likely due to us being outside) even though the restaurant was mostly empty. The place is pretty clean and the atmosphere was buzzing outside with all the foot traffic around us. Overall, a pretty good pick for an outdoor lunch.

Stopped by and had lunch there and it was very pleasant and a good experience. The oysters were very fresh and not dirty at all. No grit or anything! The French dip sandwich was the right serving size amount and overall was great. I wish the outside umbrellas had more coverage but that's a small nitpick other than that nothing else was bad! Would go again !

Came here for dinner with a friend to experience French cuisine and was impressed with the ambience and the selection of dishes offered. Top marks for the cheese fondue and the crème burlee. Came here again for lunch on during a Saturday noontime.

Went for Valentine's Day and put in my Open Table note we'd like a nice table because we just got engaged. They put us at a table outside in the middle of the square, in the cold. They have heaters, but they don't radiate much heat, so I was freezing the whole time. The food was all very good. Had French onion soup, steak tartar, and for entrees we had the sole and buttenut squash ravioli.

Google
Delicious food and great brunch selections. The steak and eggs were excellent. Great atmosphere with live music next door at El Jardin.

Google
Good, but not memorable or outstanding, French cuisine. Lobster bisque was too salty but onion soup was good. Tuna tartare was light and tasty, served with crispy onions and avocado on top, and warm bread on the side. Coq au vin, a special, was filling and tasty, as was the steak frittes. Steak was thinly sliced and tender, and the herb butter made it quite flavorful. Fries were crispy. Chocolate fondant cake was a great, decadent way to end our dinner! Service started out shakey but improved. ...

Traditional French dishes. The beef is not as tender as I thought, and the mussels are not fresh. Other dishes are good.

Not great! Booked a birthday dinner for my husband and friends. Service was not there. There was an obvious situation of a staffing issue for the night. Our "waiter" came to the table all of 2 times. After an hour I actually had to get up and ask for someone to take our dinner order. This was supposed to be a special evening and was less than memorable. Our guest asked for a salad to be split, they threw an extra plate on the table after asking again. No extra drinks were able to be ordered because the waiter never came back. This was not a case of someone calling off it's a problem of no staff. People are running around like a chicken with their head cut off. The hostess tried to do the best she could (actually taking our order since no one came to). I would NOT recommend this place. Decor is great. Food was ok. Service is not there.

Yelp
The beet salad was 10/10. I will get that every single time I go to San Jose.. cheeseburger was excellent. The server was friendly.

Yelp
Left Bank's preparation of Lyonnaise Salade and Moules Frits are absolutely delicious!! The poached egg and lardons are a beautiful accompaniment to the nicely dressed frisée with herbs, shallot and Dijon. The fresh mussels are fabulous in their spinach, white wine, butter, garlic & Pernod broth. Their service is helpful and professional. We highly recommend Left Bank at Santana Row.

Yelp
My mom & I were looking for somewhere to eat and Santana and our last stop was Left Bank. We both had never tried and were convinced by the cheese fondue we saw on the menu. The host was really kind and informed on the menu and convinced us to stay! They also do half off bottles of wine under 100 on Monday which is an awesome deal!! We didn't get wine but we did get cheese fondue, the Niçoise salad, and butternut squash raviolis. They suggest even adding veggie sticks for your fondue! All of them were AMAZING and beyond expectation. Service was kind and the restaurant vibe was great. Will be back!!!

Yelp
The lunch special is definitely worth it! $25 prix fixe menu of an appetizer, entree and dessert. I got the cauliflower soup (YUM) and the chicken. The chicken was a little dry so it definitely needed the sauce but the mashed potatoes were on point. The ambiance is upscale and lively. Service is really good. I sat at the bar and the bartender, Dan, was really attentive and great to chat with.

Yelp
New Years Eve $85 Prix fixed dinner. We were greeted by a very warm host, the restaurant is really nice. We had requested a spot a little bit more "quiet" as one of us is partly deaf and screaming over loud voices and music get's old. We were led to a lovely back room with a few tables, chandeliers and art. We sat and chatted a little and looked at the menu. Our waiter showed up after some time and we ordered drinks. Because we don't like to be rushed we held off on ordering food. Drinks took quite awhile but the bar was busy. We did notice the table next to us went and got their own drinks from the bar after waiting a bit too. Drinks came and we held off a little longer to order. After a few minutes we had decided and waited for our waiter, he was not there for quite awhile. When he did show up he started asking what we wanted to eat but at a good distance what made it hard for me to hear. I asked him to come a bit closer and speak a tiny bit louder because I was partly deaf. My husband ended relaying my questions to him and then to the waiter what I was asking. Every dish with the exception of the Duck on the menu fixed was not Gluten Free. I asked for a substitute, Beef Bourguinon, which I know is traditionally thickened with corn starch. I was told that was done with a roux, so flour. (I think I heard Julia Child roll over somewhere) He offered Steak Frites or Moules Frites but for a festive dinner? So I chose the oysters, duck and Creme Brûlée. The Amuse Bouche was a small potato with Creme Fraiche and a dollop of Caviar, real cute but could have used some seasonings. The oysters however were not up to par for this menu, 3 different sizes and some shell in the meat. Duck, lovely breast and great confit. But the combo of golden beet, apple and wine reduction (which looked more like a splash of wine warmed up) was way too sweet. A small starch like a puree would have held it together nicely and, again, seasonings? The Creme Brûlée was velvety, warm and very tasty. My husband said the Crab Bisque was excellent with a nice amount of good chunks of crab. In the future it would be nice to have an ingredient list for dishes or have staff be a little bit more knowledgeable what dishes truly have gluten in them. The ambiance is great and in summer I wan't to come by for some Salade Lyonnaise because I miss that the most from living in Lyon.

Yelp
Well I love the location and all the outdoor seating is very reminiscent of Paris which I miss! But I only tried one dish - the ahi tuna tartare. It was just mediocre flavor but at least it was fresh! Good ish service. Weather is cold but the sunlight and people watching was on point :)

Yelp
Left Bank Brasserie sure knows how to throw a Thanksgiving feast! My dinner partner and I decided to skip kitchen duty and indulge in their prix fixe menu this year, and we were not disappointed. I had the salmon, which was perfectly cooked and paired with earthy lentils and a touch of zing from the capers. My partner went for the grilled pork chop--juicy, flavorful, and complemented beautifully by the red pepper cassoulet. But let's talk about dessert...the apple pie, warm cinnamon-spiced apples, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream - it made for a good finish. We ordered wine, too. He liked his Pinot Noir and my glass of Château Saint Sulpice, Bordeaux - stole the show! Full bodied, smooth, Château Saint-Sulpice Bordeaux 2020 enchanted me with its vibrancy and fruity ripe red taste. yummy!!! Despite the restaurant being packed to the brim, the staff were incredible. Efficient, warm, and welcoming, with a full house and plates flying out of the kitchen, they kept their cool and their smiles intact, thanking all of you. Cheers to the team for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.

Yelp
LB tries to emulate the French ambiance and it executed well the last time I was there! My sister and were celebrating our birthday and enjoyed a fun brunch outside under a parasol :) We shared oysters, escargots, and tuna tartare! It was lovely! We also had some drinks and they were solid. Service was fine, they did miss one of our orders but we ended up not reminding them. Things happen.

Yelp
I visited The Left Bank on a sunny Friday afternoon while visiting a friend. We were promptly seated in the spacious restaurant, as it wasn't very busy at the time. The decor is elegant and appealing, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The service was fine--nothing extraordinary, but it was perfectly adequate. For food, we ordered: * Escargot, it was pretty good, and the garlic butter was a nice touch. * Cheese fondue, it wasn't my favorite--it was a bit bland. * Calamari Frite, a delight--crispy and light without being oily. * Niçoise Salad, freshly made with perfectly crisp vegetables. Overall, this place is a great stop, and I'd definitely recommend it!

Yelp
Food is not terrible but insanely overpriced. I'd rather drop $60 on sushi or something not French/American We ordered: - shrimp appetizer: this was the best of the night, the herb sauce was so fresh! - calamari: hard to go wrong or differentiate - fondue: we did not read closely enough to realize this is made with stinky cheese and we are kids at heart, not sophisticated adults - oysters: I heard no complaints except for the price of $4 per oyster - French onion soup: yummy and a cute small portion that was hearty enough to be half a meal - the duck, chicken, and steak frites entrees: no complaints, generous portions - butternut squash ravioli: the brussel sprouts were lightly steamed and disappointingly not charred while the ravioli was undercooked and chewy. Sauce was good. Logistics: - tons of indoor and outdoor seating with heaters - several parking garages nearby

Yelp
Walking Santana Row Friday Night and stopped at Left Bank with no reservations. We were seated outside right away next to a heater which was very comfortable. Service was slow except the time it took our entrees to arrive. Food was ok But nothing memorable. Our waiter was nice but slow. Great people Watching spot. I might return for an appetizer and cocktail but won't go out of my way To do so.

Yelp
Date: Friday, August 16th, 2024 Time: around 8:15pm Party of: 3 What: After Dinner Drinks *Glenfiddich, Scotch, Signature, 12 year ($16) *Old Pulteney, Scotch, 12 year ($21) *Ginger Gypsy ($17) *5% Living Wage Surcharge ($2.70) My group wanted to do one more round of drinks before heading out. Since we were at Santana Row, we decided to check out the bar at Left Bank. It wasn't very busy inside, so we easily grabbed 3 seats at the bar. I decide to just get a scotch whisky as did a friend of mine. They were decent pours. Tasted exactly as expected since we both got our drinks neat. I took a sip of the cocktail and it was too light for my tastes. But I do prefer my drinks spirit forward. For some reason, my friend thought it'd be similar to a Jameson and ginger. It was not. Lol! I've had lunch here and enjoyed the food. Also, a great place to grab a round of drinks. REVIEW #3532

Yelp
We were walking around and figuring out what to do for dinner. We went to Left Bank to place our names in for dinner. The wait was so-so, especially on a Friday. We got seated outside, which made the experience pleasant, especially since it was a nice day. Service was a bit off as I could sense the waiter being impatient with us. I get it because it is a busy Friday, but I do not need to show it like that when taking our order. The food came out fast, and the taste was great. The steak and fries were a so-so dish. Overall, the outdoor seating made the ambiance and the highlight for dinner.

Yelp
This is a 3.5 star review. It's a place we used to go all the time, really, before we found another routine favorite. But Left Bank is always a solid experience. On my most recent trip, I had the green salad and the tuna tartare because I wanted a lighter meal. And these were excellent choices to achieve that goal. My partner, as always, had the cheese fondue as a main course. I can't consume too much dairy, so I steer clear of this kind of dish, but I have had a taste a few times. Their fondue includes bleu cheese, which overwhelms the flavors of the other cheeses. Not my favorite, but my partner (who is French) keeps coming back for more, so they must be doing something right. What do I know about fondue as a dairy avoider, anyway? The tuna tartare was fresh and flavorful. The green salad is huge and absolutely shareable. I do wish it had a little more dressing on it, and I don't like over dressed salads. The service can be hit or miss at times, but on our most recent experience, the service was great. Outdoor dining is nice for people watching on Santana Row. Inside, they have comfy red booths in French-cafe style decor. Left Bank is the perfect no-fuss restaurant choice when you want something reliably good.

Yelp
We were hungry while at Santana Row and decided to check out this restaurant. It looks so cute inside. But because we our pups with us we couldn't eat inside. We dined outside and it was nice. Service was decent. We got the eggs Benedict and French onion soup. I really liked the French onion soup and thought the eggs Benedict was decent. I'm not sure if I would come back to be honest. But I love checking out bars so wouldn't mind checking the bar out one day and getting a cocktail.

Yelp
I tried Left Bank for the second time recently... I wasn't too sure about my experience the first time so I held off on writing a review. As I frequent Santana Row often, our paths crossed once again! While it's not my favorite spot in the area, there were definitely some highlights. The drinks were absolutely fantastic, and the service was top-notch. A big shoutout to the staff for their warm hospitality! However, I wasn't too pleased with the dishes we ordered. I had the calamari appetizer and the beef bourguignon. Unfortunately, the temperature of both dishes was off, and they lacked flavor. There were a lot of veggies fried with the calamari and only a few actual calamari pieces. On the bright side, the presentation of both the food and drinks was beautiful. I'm a SUCKER for micro greens. Everything looked picture-perfect! I would come back for drinks for a pre dinner spot but not sure I wanna try the food again. Interested in their happy hour!

Yelp
Left Bank is a reprieve from all things that life throws at you: job interviews, kid emo meltdowns, financial stress. There's HH from 3-6pm everyday. I mean, who even does HH nowadays for that long? Exactly. No one. You must order the HH oyster, some warm olives, the Bees Knees cocktail. On days not covered by happy hour, I still go here. They got the perfect set up for patio weather with those big red umbrellas protecting you after your facial at Burke Williams. Sip on some bubbly or an awesome coffee, you've got your day set and Left Bank brings on that Parisian vibe without ever leaving San Jose.

Yelp
Come for: steak frites, good ambiance, good service Know that: santana row parking is free and plentiful! I admit, I came in with tempered expectations after reading all the reviews of this place and seeing the low 3s star rating. However, Left Bank delivered and I was very happy with my experience. We came for father's day when we saw the inKind deal. We were met with great service and a bistro vibe for the occasion. We started off with steak tartare and escargot, I got the steak frites as my entree. Escargot (3/5): maybe I'm too used to a garlic butter flavor but these pesto ones tasted a bit bland. They also came out of the shell which is convenient but I feel like it loses flavor. Would not recommend. Steak Tartare (4/5): I enjoyed this very much. The steak tartare was classic and had a nice balance of flavors helped by capers. Would recommend. Steak frites w/ bordelaise sauce (4.5/5): I'm a sucker for steak frites but that also means I have a good baseline of what's good - and this was good! The skirt steak had a beautiful char and beefy flavor to stand up to the rich bordelaise sauce. Fries were crispy and not too salty - went well with sauce. Would recommend. The service was also great - especially as the manager came by to make sure we got our deal from the inKind app. Overall, Left Bank offers a wonderful casual French bistro option for Santana Row. Come in for the happy hour too!

Yelp
This restaurant is very nice and roomy and located in one of my favorite shopping centers in San Jose. I started with a really delicious old fashioned-very well made. We got the Prawns Provencale for an appetizer-did not love the sauce- and the cheese fondue which was very good but the blue cheese could have been dialed back a little as that was the prominent flavor. The French onion soup was one of the best I've had and the beef bourguignon was very good. Excellent service!

Yelp
I came here with a TimeLeft group, and our waitress was awesome! She was very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking in the garage right around the corner. We all felt like the food and drinks here were not very good unfortunately. I had the salad verte which was just lettuce and dressing and a side of fries (the fries are probably the best thing there). Other people ordered the mushroom ravioli, the raclette burger, the tomato salad, some cocktails, etc. Everything was pretty mediocre, but again, the staff members were all awesome.

Yelp
Love it! Lavender drink, escargot, trout, duck!!!! We ordered 3 escargot because it was that great! And price was so reasonable. I made a reservation for outdoor but there was no shady area and I didn't want to get sunburn so we chose indoor instead which it didn't disappoint us. Service was alright not as best as we expected but we noticed that our server had to take care of tables outside as well so that was why it was not fast enough but it was our day off so no rush Parking spot was easy to find because it was on a weekday. No charge for parking spot which was awesome. I will totally go back and have some more lavender drink and escargot again

Yelp
Loved the cheese fondue but please note this is pretty pungent tasting dish, so only order if you like blue cheese, Gorgonzola and other strong flavored cheeses. I absolutely loved it! Husband loved the steak with pepper sauce. Came with delicious fries. Cocktails were excellent. Serving staff was friendly and knowledgeable on the menu items and their ingredients. Ambiance was upscale, classy - exuding French vibes. Overall loved the place. Can't wait to come back and try other things like the onion soup! Nice location on Santana row. Definitely check it out!

Yelp
Good service on a busy Sunday indoors. Lots of people outside but it was a little loud for what we wanted during brunch-time. Had the french onion soup (met expectations and coulda used more cheese to get a full covering across the top) and a frisée salad. Overall, it still is a nice ambiance and I love the open kitchen near the back and the cute tile floor makes for a good pseudo-Paris bistro experience. The bar area looks to still be fun and easy and we reminisced how we used to come here a lot 10years ago for drinks and fondue. Good they are still around!

Yelp
Started off with Petit and wild berry 10/10 , it's on the sweet side and sort of refreshing Appetizers: escargots, delicious! Buttery and creamy, perfectly paired with the bread. Would recommend. Salmon dish: light, easy to eat, artichokes was our favorite part of the dish Steak frites: steak is very small, seasoning was light came with a butter. Fries were okay but nothing crazy. Just a typical steak dish. Service was good our server was very attentive and kind
google avatar

Claire C.

Yelp
I'd definitely give this place a 5/5 just for the food alone. We came here twice and both times ordered the salmon hash and French toast- they were that good!! The restaurant is also located at the heart of Santana row so good vibes all around. We've only ever been here for brunch but would definitely come back for dinner some day due to the fast service and great food!

Yelp
Continue to celebrate our 11-year anniversary at Left bank ! Celebrating with French cuisine sounds delightful. Let's dive into those delicious dishes at their happy hour menu: Classic French Mussels (Moules Marinières): These mussels are steamed with garlic, shallots, parsley, white wine, butter paired with freshly grill baguette to soak up the succulent white-wine broth is prefect. Half dozen Oysters on shelf : Fresh oysters are a delicacy. Enjoy them raw with a squeeze of lemon or a mignonette sauce and vinegar . Calamari: Crispy calamari rings, perhaps served with a zesty aioli dipping sauce, make for a delightful appetizer. Grilled Pork Belly Sliders: Succulent pork belly sliders, grilled to perfection, are a treat. Pair them with your pickled red onion and thinly sliced pickle is definitely the best way to enjoy! Beef Short Ribs Over Fries: Tender beef short ribs, braised until they melt in your mouth, served over a bed of crispy fries--pure comfort food. And of course, don't forget the wine! A dry white wine complements these dishes beautifully. We also ordered a zero proof lemongrass dream on their menu. Cheers to many more years of happiness! Service is good, it does take time to place more order since they only have 1 server to help with customer outside. Ambiance is nice, love the outside seating in summer !

Yelp
First time visiting Left Bank. I went around 4 pm and had fabulous service! Got served great happy hour cocktails. I ordered bread and butter, side salad and steak frittes. The bread was delicious and fresh. The side salad was crisp and the perfect amount of dressing. The steak frittes was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The only bad thing is I wish the server told me that argula salad came as part of my meal- I would have skipped the side salad. Sitting outside on the patio , enjoying the sun and people watching- imagining I was in Paris!

Yelp
If you like French Onion soup it's the BEST! Excellent service...waitress was very attentive. Ambiance, beautiful bar and welcoming...definitely will go back for dinner!

Yelp
Great food- beautiful interior- good service. Went on a Friday at Jack London Sw location liked it so much went back on Sunday to the Santana Row location. I Recommend the mussels- and the Niçoise salad was very also very good. Black cod was the special and was cooked Perfectly. Everything was executed perfectly. Definitely returning.

Yelp
Came in because my son wanted a steak. He loves steak Frittes. Steak comes, fries are old and cold. The steak itself is the thinnest piece of meat I've ever seen. The waiter tried to justify it by saying it is skirt steak. For $38 plus $3 for sauce I feel completely ripped off. I had french onion soup, also cold. Don't eat here. Food is awful and so is the service.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner on a Monday. It's a really lovely restaurant, and we sat outside and kept warm with a heating lamp. For appetizers, the Brussel sprouts and Escargot were great choices. The brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy yet still tasted good and healthy (mmmmm, green veggies!), and had bits of sausage chunks. Escargot was quite flavorful. For my entree, I got the Salmon, which was very good. It tasted very fresh, and sat atop of bed of more brussel sprouts. The service was fantastic and attentive. We had a good dinner here in Santana Row, with a great view of the Christmas tree!

Yelp
As long as Left Bank has been a staple of Santana Row, this was my first time at the restaurant. My fiance and I had dinner reservations for NYE at 7pm. We showed up 30 minutes earlier, and the restaurant was able to accommodate us right away. The restaurant reminded me of a place that we ate around Montmartre in Paris, so it did feel comfortably familiar. When we looked at the menu, we were both disappointed that it was prix fixe. I had my heart set on having a very traditional French dinner with escargot, French onion soup, steak frites, beef bourguignon, etc. For a prix fixe menu, I felt that the dishes weren't reminiscent of French food at all. The amuse bouche was a potato with a creme fraiche potato filling and topped with the tiniest bit of caviar. This was a great bite of food, and I could've easily eaten more of it. I thought it was perfectly salted. For our first courses we got the lobster bisque and chicory salad. The lobster bisque had a prominent fishy flavor, which I personally liked, and it had the most interesting lobster cake in the center of the plate. The texture of it was custardy like flan. I loved the chicory salad. I was a fan of the bitterness from the radicchio and endives, which were balanced by the acidity from the vinaigrette. The best parts of the salad were the bursts of Roquefort flavors. I just with there was more of those cheese crumbles in the salad. We got the beef medallion and duck breast as our second courses. The beef medallion was tender and cooked well. The sauteed spinach was fine. The potatoes au gratin had a nice cheesy baked top. I thought my duck breast dish was the better entree, and this was probably the only thing on the entire menu that reminded me of Parisian food. The duck breast was cooked well, and I loved the berry sauce. The turnip mash was such a wonderful alternative to mashed potatoes. We chose the apple galette a la mode and l'opera. The apple galette was the winner by far. I've had better l'operas elsewhere. Lastly, I will say that overall customer service was great. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food came out in such a timely manner. This was such a huge plus considering that the restaurant was busy, and it was a holiday eve. I felt that the kitchen had the orders down like a well oiled machine, but hey, that's what prix fixe menus are for. Despite the 3-star review, I want to come back and try actual French food from their menu.

Yelp
Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Left bank is considered one of the high end restaurants providing really good customer service, delicious meals with fresh ingredients and outstanding location. Would recommend any day.

Yelp
My whole family loves the appetizers here. We come when we're not too hungry and just want a quick bite. Our go-to's are the escargot, the calamari, and the cheese fondue.

Yelp
Celebrated a Christmas Eve Lunch yesterday at this family style French restaurant and the family had a good meal. We had French Onion Soup and Calamari Frit for starters and they were both good. I'm not a fan of onions, but I had to try the soup, and I must admit it was a nice heart warming cup of soup. Aside from wishing the temperature of the soup was hotter, it was good for someone who doesn't like onions. The calamari frit was crunchy and has a good amount of breading and calamari meat ratio. All of us liked it, including the kids. I got the Salmon plate, and while the garnishing is something new for me, the taste grew on my palate and I was able to finish my plate. The salmon was a tad overcooked, but it's still good. It felt like a flavorful healthy plate. The Steak Frites were cooked nicely and the fries were enjoyable, crunchy outside but still soft inside. The Chicken Tenders were a good portion considering it's a kids meal. My kids shared them, together with another plate of Mac N Cheese and they were both satisfied. It was a nice place to try for a family lunch and I'm glad we picked it this year. We chose outdoor dining and it has a view of the Holiday Tree which was perfect. They have heat lamps which kept us warm even with the chilly weather. The service was fast and the staffs were nice. Thank you for our lovely family meal.

Yelp
I have a great experience. I love the decor and layout of the restaurant. It' has a classic feel with a modern twist to it. I particular like the porcelain pieces they had (pig chef, rooster, etc). Price wise Its beyond reasonable and the portions are big. We had the bread for starters followed by the calamari. The calamari has deep fried lemon pieces in it that tasted amazing. The dipping sauce was perfectly done too. We also had the chicory salad. This was really good. I love blue cheese and apples so everything blended well together. Next we had French onion soup....a classic and they hit the nail on the head. We dipped the bread we ordered into the broth and enjoyed. For our mail course we got the mushroom Bourguignon. The serving was really big, the mushroom variety really was nice too. The flavors were bold, and everything tasted really fresh. To finish it off we had the tarte au citron. It was really good as I love anything lemon, I will say the taste was mild and not over powering. A perfect way to finish the meal

Yelp
Went in for a department holiday party on 12/18/24 Wednesday reservation for 6:30 pm. We were seated in their private room which was really nice. We ordered every single appetizer on the menu. The food tasted exceptionally good...up until 2 days later. 6 people out of our dinner party including myself suffered from a food borne illness. Nausea, vomiting (projectile), diarrhea, chills, stomach cramping. Only the people who ate the oysters contracted these symptoms. 3 people out of our group were medically treated..dehydrated and one was diagnosed with Vibrio infection. I contacted the manager trying to figure out what kind of oysters were served to us..she said that the oysters were not on our bill so there's nothing that can be done. !!! I was shocked and upset how they handled the matter, she stated since it's not on the bill they cannot say they were responsible for it!! Never again.

Yelp
Awful service. We had our reservation at 7:15, we got seated and let the hostess know that we have a birthday and wanted to get some kind of birthday dessert if possible, the hostesses said they could do something. We waiting until 7:45 or so to order, waiter never came, my friend had to get out of the table to ask to order, the manager came and took our order. We then proceeded to wait for our food, which only came around 8:10 or so. Food was good, nothing special. I've had better French food in the Bay Area. We finished our dinner and the original waiter brought is the dessert menu, which we didn't want anything from, but the disappointing part is that no Birthday dessert or anything came. So summary, we waited to order, had to get the manager to take our order, waited for our food more time than usual, no one came and checked on us or offered to refresh our drinks or how the food was, and didn't get any birthday dessert as promised. This is the last time I'm ever coming to this restaurant. I've come here often and each time the service is the same, the food is basic and I've burnt my tongue on multiple occasions with the escargot.

Yelp
I came here for a quick dinner with some friends in Santana Row, as it wasn't too crowded and we were able to be seated right away after we got there. The servers were polite and it was quite spacious inside, so you don't have to worry about feeling cramped there. The room isn't the most brightly lit, but it's enough so that you are able to still see relatively clearly in the evening. For the food, we decided to get the Steak Frites medium rare, which comes with bavette steak, pommes frites, and a choice of sauce (in this Bordelaise for me). The fries were quite crispy, and although the steak was pretty good I do think that it is definitely on the pricier side. That just may be the nature of restaurants and stores in Santana Row, but expect to pay more compared to other places outside this area. Overall, not a bad place to grab some food if you are around Santana Row and want some meat.

Yelp
Honestly the vibe and ambiance of this place is pretty cool. Super open, high ceilings with beautiful art, columns making it feel fancy. I was surprised by how tasty the food was. The chicken was cooked to perfection - super juicy, tender. I normally don't order a chicken dish like this out on dinner but it looked good on the menu and I don't regret it at all. I actually liked the chicken over the steak more. The steak was also really good but nothing extraordinary.

Yelp
Wonderful day for a girls brunch, reservation is not necessary, place was not packed. Everything we had was good except the mussels which was a bit fishy. Love the escargot with powerful garlic and butter, portion sides are good enough to share, the steak tartar was interesting with a quail egg that added extra smooth. Steak was cooked to medium rare, seasoned well and the salad was delightfully crisp.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this place. My parents were in town and decided to take them to Santana row for a bite to eat. We ordered calamari and tuna tartare. The aioli for the calamari was not your ordinary sauce. The flavouring was rich but not overwhelming. I did feel like the tartare could use two more pieces of bread - they only give you four and the amount of appetizer was more than the amount of bread. I ordered the duck confit - the texture and flavour was spot on. My biggest gripe is I don't consume a lot of legumes and they packed the whole bottom of the dish with white beans. I would reduce the amount of beans and add more micro greens, sausage and sweet potato within the dish. All of the other dishes my family ordered were spectacular. Our waitress was very attentive and didn't overwhelm us by hovering or coming back too often. They ended up turning down the lights around 5:20 Friday nights to "set the mood" but feel they could have done it a little more gradual then boom! I would absolutely go back to try other dishes.

Yelp
The beet salad was small but good. I took some French toast from my mum's plate and that was extremely delicious, I almost got my own. The service was great as they were very attentive to us. The ambiance was also very nice.

Yelp
Good food and nice ambiance. The service can be a little better. I did have to ask for lemon three times before it came.

Yelp
Robert Irvine, are you there...hiding your big biceps behind the curtains at Left Bank?! ( o _ O ) One staff cussing at the computer screen. Customers walking out because their server never came to take their order. Another customer coming inside saying, they've been waiting for their bill for a long time. And, this was within a 5-7 minutes time span. They were not busy, at about 25% capacity with plenty of staff on the floor. The food? Soggy truffle frites ($11): https://tinyurl.com/a2dfw378. Some raw oysters (1/2 dozen-$21) looked past their prime: https://tinyurl.com/4b6j2dmz. My friend with an iron stomach ate them and was fine afterwards tho. Neighboring table ordered beef tartare that arrived as a mound of grey meat. It's hard to believe this Left Bank location is from renowned chef, Roland Passot (RIP La Folie). What brings my rating to 1 star is the dishonesty... I asked staff if they have Casamigos Blanco (CB) and was told they did. So, I ordered a double on the rocks: https://tinyurl.com/56yr6x9b. However, I'm certain that I wasn't served CB. CB is smooth with distinct vanilla notes. What I was given wasn't. And, when I went to the bar to look at their liquor offerings, there's no CB on deck. When the bill came, "Herradura Tequila, Silver" was listed: https://tinyurl.com/jf5p4wr3. I told our server that I ordered CB and he said, I was served CB but I was charged for a cheaper tequila. Again, I'm certain that it wasn't CB. A simple, "I'm sorry, we don't have Casamigos Blanco, did you want to try Herradura instead?" And, I would have been down. Our young server seemed genuinely kind so maybe he was told to tell me this? Whatever the case, it was deceptive. Lastly, something really sus is going on with Left Bank's ratings. If you sort by *highest rated* reviews, many 5 star reviews are from yelp accounts with Left Bank as their only one review or from accounts with no profile pics and very little reviews. Overall, I love coming to The Row and it's a given you're here for the awesome outdoor vibes + people & dog watching....not great food. But sheesh, the experience was like from an episode of Restaurant: Impossible.

Yelp
Came for lunch had a glass of pinot blanc and my boyfriend had the bees knees cocktail. We had escargots to start. Then I got a cheddar cheeseburger and added an over easy fried egg. My boyfriend got the raclette burger. All of the food was delicious. I was very full. We dined outside since it was a nice day and there was live music in the area. Our waiter took good care of us.

Yelp
Disappointing lunch today at this spot in Santana Row. Expensive for what we had -- a disgraceful cheese plate (3 tiny hunks of cheese along with a handful of loose grapes and a little piece of honeycomb with some stale bread) an ok salad and an entree and 2 glasses of wine for $130 before tax and tip. Unfriendly, inefficient service from a waiter who was clearly not happy to be there. They also charged extra for "toast points" when we asked for extra bread for the cheese. Overall it was a lot of money for a less than satisfying lunch.
