NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"In the Ace Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn, Lele’s is an all-day cafe with a very specific inspiration: Rome’s Trastevere neighborhood. You’ll find pinsas topped with cheeses, meats and nuts; pastas, and bigger mains. At breakfast you can either go Roman with cream-filled maritozzi, or stick to avocado toast." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

A New Restaurant Will Anchor the Ace Hotel Brooklyn | Eater NY

"Targeting May at 252 Schermerhorn Street, this incoming concept brings Roman cuisine to a day-to-night menu that might feature breakfast maritozzi as well as pastas like Amatriciana and cacio e pepe, plus shareable pinsas, per a spokesperson. The new spot is now in the hands of LDV Hospitality, which oversees other Italian restaurants in the city, such as Nomad’s Scarpetta; its placement in Brooklyn is no coincidence given ownership ties in Manhattan between GFI Capital and James New York Nomad, where Scarpetta is housed. Installed as chef is Francesco Battisti, who, according to his LinkedIn, before working as a corporate chef for the group, worked in the kitchens of several hotels, including at the Waldorf Astoria in Doha, Qatar, and at the Ritz-Carlton in the Maldives. The space will receive a full design refresh from Studio Tre (behind bar Tigre’s look) to blend the building’s "Brutalist character" with "a touch of '70s Italian funk." - Emma Orlow

This restaurant has alot of charm and if I lived nearby I'd make it a regular go to. Is it worth coming from Manhattan for? Yes and no. The happy hour is great. $10 glasses of good wine. $14 martinis. A $7 happy hour charcuterie plate was also a nice nibble with the happy hour drinks . The arugula salad was delicious as was the eggplant parmesan. Very good tiramisu. But is it on the level of the finest Italians in nyc. Not quite. It's good and I would return. But it's not Da Toscano or Via Carota. BTW the waiters are true Italians and quite charming. It's also a good pre Barclay spot.

I love this place! The staff is attentive, friendly and quick to take care of you. The pasta was delicious-fresh and creamy with crispy guancale - reminiscent of my time in Italy. I also ate breakfast here which was wonderful. The simple egg combo was the best. The potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, delicious thick cut fresh sourdough, and tasty bacon. I had the Greek yogurt another morning and that was also wonderful. The décor is fun and comfortable.

Tonight we ventured out to an amazing new hot spot for dinner. Lele's Roman opened their doors roughly 2 months ago and based on the crowd, it is clear they are a fast and furious hit! This hip hot spot is decked out in gorgeous 70's inspired decor that sets the tone for a new spin on classic Roman dishes. We opted for the 3-course Restaurant Week menu and the amazing meal that followed proved the hype is well-deserved!! We began our meal with the Rughetta e Pomodorini, which was bright, fresh and perfectly dressed to open up the meal and the Suppli al Telefono, an elegant, delicious and perfectly prepared reimagining of a traditional arancini. We selected the Polletto al Mattone con Peperoni and the Branzino al Forno alla Mediterranea. The brick roasted chicken was tender, juicy and packed with succulent flavor. The Branzino was beautifully prepared, flaky, perfectly seasoned and accompanied by delicious potatoes and cherry tomatoes Last we indulged in the Apricot Pit Panacotta served with apricot, burnt honey caramel and toasted almonds. I have had many Panacotta and can truly say this one rivals the best I have ever tasted..even in Italy!! We also delighted in the Caramelized Puff Pastry accompanied by seasonal fruit and vanilla crème anglaise. This showstopper was not only a sight to behold but absolutely delicious!! The pastry was light and flaky and the crème anglaise was a sensationally creamy balance to the medley of sweet and tart fruit. Lele's Roman is an absolute rising star and should be added to any NYC must-try list!! I look forward to working my way through their beautiful menu!!

Google
Outstanding flavors and service at this cozy new Roman restaurant by the Ace Hotel. Loved the atmosphere and interior design details. The fish was absolutely perfect with lots of flavor + the white wine as well. All of the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly explaining the menu options at length for the 2 out of 3 people in our party that each had different food allergies. Will absolutely return!

Google
Very cute Roman restaurant located in the Ace Hotel right by Hoyt St station. Service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was great. However, the food was not up to the expectation. I tried the restaurant week menu - the cappaccio was ok, but the cacio e pepe was a bit watery and the pasta itself wasn’t al dente enough imo. My friend’s carbonara was very dry on the other hand. Looking at other people’s pastas, the quality, portion of noodles and cheese on the top appear not to be consistent.

Google
Lele Roman knocks it out of the park. The beautifully decorated dining space provided an amazing atmosphere to enjoy delicious cocktails and an incredibly curated menu. The service was excellent with attentive waiting staff who seamlessly prepared the table in between each course and provided helpful suggestions when it came to ordering. The food was excellent and you can see and taste the love Chef Francesco pours into the food. Lele Roman beautifully highlights traditional Roman ingredients and plates and provides a truly unique dining experience.

Really enjoy our experience here. Took my son who is 5 and he absolutely loved the food and the special treatment he received. Great food and excellent service.

We have not been back since the restaurant changed but we had a quick brunch here and it was pretty good. Excellent service. I love that the gentleman who sat us put us at a table far away from a loud table without us asking. The Italian waiter added a bit of authenticity to the place. We enjoyed the breakfast pizza. I thought that the carpaccio needed some more pizzazz because the balsamic that was supposed to be on it wasn't there and it seemed like it could have used some more fun and flavor in the form of maybe some chopped salads or fried capers more generous serving of Parmesan. There were no figs in the Greek yogurt but they substituted apricots which were fine. I didn't get the feeling that there was a known chef attached to this restaurant like the Ace hotel in the city. That we'll come back and try it again for dinner.

Yelp
Leles Roman has a really nice ambiance, it's located inside a hotel, and the space feels stylish and cozy. I especially loved the wall decor, which almost looked like stained glass. We shared the eggplant parm and the margherita pizza. The eggplant parm was amazing. It was one of the best I've ever had. The margarita pizza was a bit too cheesy for me and could've used more sauce to balance it out.

Yelp
price - $83 including tax and tip food - 3/5 service - 5/5 ambiance - 5/5 food was okay for its price. i got the cacio e pepe pasta for $22, margherita pizza for $22, and mezzi rigatoni for $26. the pastas were good when you initially eat them, but it gets salty very quick. if you decide to get the pasta, i definitely think the pasta should be shareable since its very heavy and salty. on the other hand, the pizza was good but the bottom of the pizza was pretty burnt but the margherita flavoring was pretty good! service and ambiance was amazing tho! i definitely rate them a 5/5 for these two aspects. if youre in the area, i definitely suggest trying this out for the vibes :)

Yelp
New cute spot but the experience was a bit odd. It was pretty quiet during Saturday brunch. There was no bartender so cocktails couldn't be served but wine, what? Everything came out at once (besides pizza) which is a bit chaotic to eat. Bruschetta - so so, not much pesto flavor, scramble egg was deli quality. Caesar Salad - okayed Panzanella & Stracciatella - very good. Tomato's were so fresh! My fav dish. All'amatriciana but changed Rigatoni to Tonnarelli - it was served within a minutes after we ordered, did they just toss the ingredients together? A bit lacking on sauce, the meat inside was pure fat chunks. Pinsa Cine di Rapa Salsiccia - very good! Second fav dish.

Yelp
Lele's Roman is an Italian spot that just opened up at The Ace - REAL TALK: Love the cute little wolf logo they have! We were treated here by our dear friends for an early dinner - their menu includes antipasti, insalate, pinsa, pasta, secondi, contorni, and kid options. We started off with: +Fiore di Zucca - squash blossoms with anchovy and fresh mozz +Burrata e Rape Rosse - with beets, blood oranges, and caramelized walnuts +and, the Polipo e Patate - an octopus and potato salad For our mains, we tried: +the Mezzi Rigatoni All' Amtriciana +the Spaghetti alla Carbonara +the Parmigiana di Melanzane +and, the Prosciutto di Parma e Tartufo - with burrata cream, walnuts, and fresh black truffles Staff were welcoming and attentive; we were seated promptly with making advance reservations, which was great. The space is so cute, with the colorful tile decor and the retro-like seating booths! It was busy when we went, and already it seemed like a local dining option favorite. +cute decor +friendly staff +reservations accepted

Yelp
Came here with a friend a couple of weeks ago for Restaurant Week lunch. Had a lovely time -- great food (I had the octopus appetizer and the tonnarelli main, both of which were excellent), pleasant wait staff, nice atmosphere. Not your typical Italian; I looked it up afterwards and the cuisine is from the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome. Just don't make the mistake that we did -- lunch does not run continuously into dinner and we came for a late lunch, so we weren't able to linger as long as we would have liked to.

Yelp
A 2 star review was originally what I gave As You Are, it's predecessor; however, it eventually became our go to restaurant as their menu evolved and they had some truly decent dishes- so we were bummed to see them go. We were excited to try Lele's as it's right around the corner- even though we have Italian perfectly covered in the area. The spot is rejiggered using many of the old Roman and Williams design - and they thoughtfully brought the bar to the other side (front) making it a cozier spot to imbibe. What they also did that drives me to drink, is add weird knick knacks to the walls and shelves that look so junky and random. Roman and Williams would do a spit take, I'm sure; otherwise, the partitions and banquets are quite nice- maybe because they've brought in lighter elements, they should lower the lighting at night to make it more cozy. While the food is perfectly fine-ish, it's limited- and for some reason the lunch menu is pretty different than the dinner menu (and better). I've asked them several times on social media if you were able to order from the lunch menu at dinner; alas, no one responded and that does not appear to be an option. What we did eat was decent, but you can get incredible Italian by walking 2+ blocks away at Piccola Casa on Nevins. Also, fyi, the pinsa is a perfectly decent pizza. The tomato salad is a star. Their brunch was also pretty 'meh' in comparison to As You Are. Just mix it up a bit, pleas

Yelp
When I heard an Italian place was opening at the ace had to check it out! Food was tasty, service was exceptional, space was sleek. Highly recommend a visit with a reservation. My partner got the chicken and finished it in minutes. I had the cacio and it was def tasty. Nice portion sizes. House made pasta. I'll be back

Yelp
I was served a gluten dish after informing my server I had a gluten allergy. When my food arrived, I was told it was the gluten free carbonara. After I had taken a few bites, the server came to tell me there had been a mistake and I was given regular pasta. I didn't wait for them to bring the regular version because I had to go to a pharmacy asap for medication to hopefully help ease the symptoms. The meal was comped, but I've never experienced this happening in 16 years of being gluten free.

This restaurant is so accommodating! The dishes satisfy and the place is easy to reach. Their hearty portions make the prices reasonable. Workers delivered pleasant assistance. Remarkably good!!!

Amaaaaazing. We loved eating here so much. The pasta with artichoke and mushroom was so good, and the lamp chops.. chefs kiss. Super friendly staff and nice lighting/environment too. Absolutely will come back when in NY

Yelp
Went here for a birthday and had an amazing time. The pizza was actually incredible, and the drinks and vibe were so fun. Was surprised with champagne at the end which made out night, we live in the neighborhood and definitely will be back.

Yelp
I love this place. When you walk in the door you are greeted warmly. It feels like you're part of a family. Our server Kosta, was attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was simple and comforting. We shared everything. We started with the zucchini blossoms, and the heirloom Pazzanella salad, which was incredibly fresh!! Then we split some pasta. Cacio e Pepe and the Carbonara. Both were fantastic, but I made the mistake of ordering two similar things. I heard that I missed out on the Rigatoni, next time. We split the Veal Involtni that was wrapped in crispy prosciutto as an entree, delicious! I wish I had gotten a sidedish.
