The 20 Best FiDi Restaurants

"Bagel enthusiasts, meet Leo’s Bagels, a sleeper high-quality bagel pick. The bagels here are gooey and chewy in the way that the best NYC bagels are. This is where you should be getting your egg and cheese bagel in the morning." - kenny yang, neha talreja, hannah albertine

The 19 Best Bagels In NYC

"We get that people will always have their preference between toasted and untoasted. It’s the New York bagel equivalent of Fender vs. Gibson, skinny jeans vs. wide-leg jeans, or excessive throw pillows vs. not-excessive throw pillows. But we urge any toasted truthers to try an untoasted, plain bagel from Leo’s in Fidi. It’s one of the puffier bagels out there, and it has a pleasantly gooey chew, while the bottom remains partially crispy. Our order also includes scallion cream cheese, featuring scallions that are actually crunchy, as well as the very salty belly lox that ties everything together." - willa moore, neha talreja, hannah albertine, will hartman

Google
One of the best bagels i tried in NYC. Tried at least popular 5 places. The drawback is the prices, i think salmons are expensive, but it was delicious. Have great variety of spreads and bagels, also salmon variety is huge. Have less place to sit inside, but a clean and safe park just in front. Also; very clean, tidy, and faster compared to other bagel shops.

Google
A great experience for a tourist who hasn’t experienced NYC bagel culture before. So much choice. Went for a breakfast one. Was absolutely massive. Was about $15 odd which seemed like a lot at the time but on reflection is very reasonable for the size. Bacon was really good. Meat was a bit heavy though. Great spot overall.

I had this place saved for some reason but it was probably by mistake. We were in the area hungry and saw leos bagels. We walked in, got in the queue, ordered, and waited. Although we were occupied by amazement in work ethic and chaos, we waited about 30 min for three bagels....When we got the bagels they were soggy, not toasted at all, no fluffiness, and the fillings were just ok. Not worth the drive nor wait.

Bagels are made fresh and you can taste it on first bite and they are super soft as well. I usually get my LEO (lox, eggs and onions) omelette on a multi grain bagel with ketchup!!! 😋 Price is definitely up there in terms of nyc value but you get a top of the line bagel sandwich in the area. So definitely stop by Leo’s Bagel and treat yourself 🥳🥳🥳

It is definitely a Bagel heaven with endless options! This bagel shop offers an incredible variety of choices to satisfy any craving. I had the smoked salmon bagel, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. There are also a few bar seating spots if you want to dine in and enjoy your bagel on the spot. A great find for a quick and tasty bite!

Google
The bagels we tried were good, but the muffin didn’t taste like freshly made, it was quite dried. Good service. Limited spots if you’re eating in.

Google
Hands down the best bagels that we have ever had. The freshness of the bagel, the creaminess of the cream cheese and all the toppings, I’d give it all a 10 out of 10! Also tried their gluten free option as one of our 4 bagels and it was just as amazing. The only feedback that I had was at the staff was not quite helpful, especially when I was asking for Suggestions for my order and making some changes. I felt a little rushed, even though we came at a time where it was not as high traffic as it normally would be.

Google
CAUTION: FOOD POISONING. I ordered the Aunt Rebecca bagel that comes with alfalfa sprouts on it. The sprouts must not have been sourced or handled properly because this is 100% what gave me food poisoning. My husband and I ate identical food the entire day except this bagel, and I was sick later that night but he wasn’t. The rest of my trip to NYC was ruined unfortunately, as I was locked in my hotel room with a high fever and got sick over 30+ times throughout the night. Please do not get anything with alfalfa sprouts on it from this place.

Yelp
Leo's Bagels, nestled in Manhattan's Financial District is a cherished spot for authentic New York bagels. Established in 2007 by Adam Pomerantz, a former Wall Street executive turned bagel artisan, Leo's pays homage to traditional Jewish appetizing culture, offering hand-rolled, kettle-boiled bagels made in small batches for optimal freshness. Leo's bagels are celebrated for their ideal balance of a crispy crust and chewy interior. They come in various flavors, including cinnamon raisin, sesame, and everything. The cream cheese selection is extensive, featuring options like jalapeño, kalamata olive, and maple-raisin-walnut . And believe me u only need one bc half the sandwich is more than enough. Leo's Bagels stands out as a top choice for traditional New York for sure. Its commitment to quality and authenticity makes it a must-visit for bagel (or carb) enthusiasts. While the small space might not be so ideal especially during busy hours butttt so very worth the wait!!

Yelp
Buzzy and busy bagel spot! Make your own or pick from their menu, be ready this place goes fast! Grab a bagel and head to the battery!

Yelp
Overall this shop was decent. The people were nice and they quickly made the orders even though it was so busy so that was good. However, the bagel wasn't the best I've had. Additionally the classic had way too many onions. The salmon quality was actually really good though. There is limited seating inside but there is an outside seating area along the "park" that was ok but then you have to deal with the pigeons. Would not come here to seek the best bagel in nyc but it's a good option in fidi.

Yelp
Got sun dried tomato and roasted garlic cream cheese with tomatoes on a toasted green everything bagel (they were sold out of normal color everything bagels when I went, and instead they had a green version for St. Patrick's Day). A pretty good place for a bagel. The cream cheese wasn't too crazy or slathered on too thick and the flavor itself was yummy. The bagel was fluffy and not toasted too hard, and I loved the seasoning on top. The roasted garlic pieces really added a nice flavor. Would return again if I was in the area.

Yelp
Great Bagel Breakfast sandwich from Leo's. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Yelp
Picked up a couple of bagel sandwiches from Leo's on a holiday afternoon when they were not crazy busy. Had the Boychick specialty breakfast sandwich on a toasted sesame bagel which was pretty good but could have used a little more salmon and also Shrimp Salad on a toasted cinnamon bagel which was not bad.

Yelp
Leo's is a FiDi staple, one of the best bagels in the area. They have a good mix of bite on the exterior and doughy chewy interior. I recently picked up 20 bagels for an event and they price a bakers dozen (14 bagels) at the same price as a dozen individual bagels $25.80, as long as you choose from a specific list of flavors, which encompasses your general favorites like everything, sesame, poppyseed, egg, plain, cinnamon raisin, onion, just to name several. Any extra individual bagels up to the next bakers dozen are at the single price of $2.15 each. Cream cheese starts at $4 for the smallest container, $7 for the the 1/4lb container, kinda pricey though it's hard to get fresher whipped style cream cheese elsewhere. Service is fast, blunt and on point, they run like a well-oiled machine. Mornings usually mean a short line but it moves quickly and you'll be in and out of there in 10 minutes. A handful of seats but don't expect to bring a large party or hang out for a while, quarters are tight and a steady stream of patrons will be brushing past you. I haven't tried their bagel sandwiches mostly bc I'm not a huge fan of more than a very slight schmear of cream cheese on my bagels, though some people really enjoy them.

Yelp
Delicious bagels in the financial district. I liked the convenient location close to the Staten Island ferry and subway stations. The interior is somewhat small with limited seating so my partner and I ended up eating outside. Fast paced environment! The bagel was perfectly chewy and the pastrami was so amazing. Ordering is a bit confusing because all the toppings come separately. It was a bit pricey at about $19 for a bagel sandwich.
google avatar

Yelp
Yes $20 for a bagel sandwhich is quite insane but I'd do it again because this was heavenly. I got the hanover hangover and added avocado mash and it was bigger than my head. Definitely recommend sharing this! The potato latke complimented well with the sausage and egg but I do wish the cheese was melted. The service was pretty quick and my friend and I had no problem finding seating inside. Decorations were standard but I do like the high bar seating against the window. Overall, if it won't break your bank, would definitely give this place a try.
google avatar

Mikayla M.

Yelp
I got the whole shebang and it was tasty but the price was pretty crazy ($17.25) I'm new to NY bagels so I can't speak to the quality compared to other NY places but I would come back here. I got it on a garlic bagel. Service is pretty fast here and it's not the most comfortable dine-in vibe since it's crowded so I would opt to take it to go.
google avatar

Johnathan R.

Yelp
This was recommended to me by the excellent barista down the street, and it was a top notch bagel. So fresh and soft! The staff was friendly and efficient. The omelette on the sandwich made me miss my New Orleans spices, but to each their own.

Yelp
Accidentally stumbled across this nice and clean deli in The City. It was busy so we knew it was going to be good. We ordered and our food came out fairly quickly. The portions were huge and everything inside was fresh EXCEPT my bagel. The reason why I gave 4 stars is because my Garlic Bagel was definitely a bit stale. My boyfriend's sesame bagel was so tasty and fresh and classic bagel but mine was just hard to bite out of and chew. You could definitely tell there's a difference. I know they are capable of serving great bagels I'm just a bit sad with my experience.
google avatar

Su-jen Y.

Yelp
The first time I visited I had the traditional with multi grain and I loved it. There was a thick layer of salmon and the bagel was kind of soft. Look at the beautiful bagel, half of it was salmon. HOWEVER, I came back today and had the whole shebang because I wanted to try the scallion cream cheese. While the cream cheese was better but the amount of salmon was atrocious!!!!! And I got the everything bagel, it was very tough, my jaw was hurting. So I'm not sure.... Maybe I was just unlucky.
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Salted bagel with avocado mash is so damn good! Perfect saltiness of the bagel and chewiness, and the avocado is fresh and creamy. YUM!!! I would get this every day if I could!
google avatar

Alexis K.

Yelp
I was craving a bagel and this place didn't disappoint. It was a great walk up spot with many options. I'm pretty plane Jane and got a bagel with cream cheese and it was delicious. They are very generous with the cream cheese! When we went in the line wasn't too bad but within minutes it was wrapped around the store. Surprisingly enough they had us in and out of there pretty quick. Not much space for seating but perfect for on the go!
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
Amazing Bagels.. Fresh and ready to go. From the bagels to the over 15 types of fish to add on their bagels including spreads. The catering options are excellent as well. The service can be a bit brash at times and no one really greets you but once you get past that the food is worth it. The ambiance is neat and clean. It's gives off a tourist attraction vibe as I saw ppl taking pictures with their families inside. Good stuff.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service great bagels and they treat people like human beings. The tunafish is very good as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my everything bagel with tuna.
google avatar

Anita J.

Yelp
What a great local bagel spot! A friend recommended we try it out and so we swung by for some breakfast. The place was packed! But the line moves quickly. We got the Hanover Hangover on an everything bagel and an everything bagel with the sun dried tomato and roasted garlic spread. The bagels were well toasted and super fluffy on the inside. They really packed the sandwich - made it worth the $16. I would come here again! I'm interested to try their other spreads and bagels. For gluten free folks - they have a dedicated GF station (from what I could see)
google avatar

Mel J.

Yelp
Great bagels in Fidi. However it's often really busy - so you'll have to get there early. Inside , the line snakes around and you'll need to know what you need to order because it's fast paced. I have enjoyed lox bagels, cheese smear and bacon egg and cheese I find Leos is a bit more expensive than some other bagel places in the area.
google avatar

Zenda D.

Yelp
Food: I highly suggest the one and only Bennys Club, scooped out on a plain bagel add jalapeño cream cheese and extra bacon (drools lol) I used to work here after college so I've tried almost every bagel this is the one that is lunch and dinner lol I've had my fair share of bagels in NYC, but this sandwich is in a league of its own. Every bite has the perfect mix of flavors and textures salty, savory, creamy, and crunchy. Seriously, bagel sandwiches don't get better than this! Plus, the vibe at Leo's is unbeatable. Even during a busy rush, the staff kept things moving fast and with a smile. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely brunch, Leo's Bagels is the place to be. If you're in the Financial District and looking for a bagel that'll blow your mind, you have to try the Benny Club. It's a bagel sandwich that's worth every bite! Shoutout to Ronny the manager he still remembered me years later lol
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Whether you want a plain bagel, bagel with toppings or a deli sandwich type bagel, this is your place in FiDi! So many choices. Price range for items can rage from affordable to pricy, but you get what you pay for. Bagels were on the harder side for me, it did not have the chew that I love. Line can be long some times, but we ordered for pick up so we were able,to "grab and go".
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Looked crowed but dropped in looking for the NYC bagel experience since it was my last chance and I was short on time. The service was quick and only took a few minutes in the crowed shop. I got the "traditional" and to say it was phenomenal would be an understatement. The bagel was warm and fresh, loaded with all the fixings. Everything was super fresh and loaded with lox. Really was impressed.
google avatar

Yelp
Leo's is a typical NYC style Jewish deli. The nice thing they have going for them is the ambiance (exposed brick, beautiful tiling), and just a very efficient ordering line. HOWEVER, the lady yelling numbers occasionally mumbles and if you ask to clarify what she has yelled, she is very angry and upset you've come up to ask her what number she just yelled. The wait for the food does take a bit of time. It took about 25 minutes to get our food from getting in line to walking out with our food. The bagels themselves are ok. But they totally got our order wrong and then didn't include the whitefish salad we paid for. However, we didn't notice until we were a mile away and already started eating our meal. We got a beca, the maven, the whole shebang and requested all of those to be toasted. Aside from the whitefish salad, we also ordered a large coffee and two bagels to go that were NOT supposed to be toasted but came toasted, a shame cause they are being brought home in another state and now will be dry. The breakfast bagels were pretty well stuffed, but two of them were not toasted, though they were supposed to be. For gluten free bagels, they were good but not a one to one substitute for regular gluten bagels. I don't think I'd recommend this place if you're coming to NY. It's a decent place cause it's not too touristy, but the experience and being shorted our whitefish salad just cemented that we won't be back even though one in our party lives just down the street.
google avatar

Yelp
NYC Bagels are truly something else @leosbagels We grabbed breakfast at @leosbagels in NYC financial district before exploring Wall Street and NYC financial district. The portions are huge and they're challenging to finish in one sitting...order 1 bagel sandwich per 2 people or save the other half for your midday snack. They offer preset bagel sandwiches as well as build your own bagels. We ordered from both. They had a unique cinnamon raisin walnut cream cheese which was absolutely delicious and I wish more stores offered this flavour. Food 5/5 Ambiance Service 5/5 Seating availability (there's a total of ~10 window seats)
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
We were downtown and visited an old fave Leo's Bagels. Expanded digs looked great and the place was as busy as ever. Took a while to get our order and the lady offered me a free coffee for my wait which was super nice. I had a pumpernickel with lox spread which was yummy. We had the BEC with a Latka messy but good. Some quibbling about how bacon could be crispier but I digress. We also got the BECA on a sesame. Angel which was well received. Since we were going to an exhibit we didn't get bagels to bring home but after all this time Leo's is still great.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Very tasty. This place was extremely busy with a line out the door. No place to sit. But it had good bagels.
google avatar

Stacey T.

Yelp
I recently visited Leo's after several years on a sunny, summer Sunday and was greeting with a line as to be expected. Part of the issue with the line is that there are 2 entries, and they could probably use some better signage as to where you order and the line thereafter (registers on the right side and proceed to the left in front of the counters to collect your food when you hear your number) . Anywho, after helping direct some out of towners to the register, we placed our order. I got a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel with ketchup. I wasn't super impressed with it, they forgot my ketchup, but it was good, I'd give it about a 3/5. Luckily we chose to eat at the bar counters lining the windows so I was able to grab some ketchup packets, but I would have been SOL if we had gotten it to go. The bagels are quite good, you can see the big boiling tanks upstairs (and it's pretty warm in there!), and there were staff scooting up/down the stairs with fresh baskets of bagels the entire time we were there. Why did I give it a 3? The bagel was good, no question there, but the bacon was a bit undercooked/soggy and the egg was kind of like an omelette. I prefer a pseudo fried egg with the yolk broken if that makes sense. If you get a bagel with cream cheese (btw they have a lot of flavors), the schmear is a plenty as opposed to some other spots (looking at you Zuckers....). I didn't try it, but was told the tuna fish is good as well. It is a bit chaotic in there and it seemed that some orders were accidentally missed, but I saw them trying to expedite them to make up for it. It's also on the pricy side, but my breakfast sandwich was so big I ate half the next day.
google avatar

Daniella G.

Yelp
I can agree that these are probably the best bagels in the area, but definitely not the best bagels in NY. The place is cute and looks like a very traditional deli, small so if you are planning on eating there, be careful it gets very busy, specially on a Sunday. It was a little loud but the staff was nice and very efficient as they took our order and served us. I tried the hanover hangover which had potatoes sausage egg bacon, I mean need I say more.... and my boyfriend had the Leonardo, both very solid sandwiches, huge with very generous portions inside, but the Bagel itself was a little hard, maybe not as fresh that day? I dont know They did have a selection of shmear that looked amazing, so I will be going back to try it! And hopefully the bread will be a little softer
google avatar

Patricia S.

Yelp
I wasn't too impressed with these bagels. They tasted more like bread to me. The turkey bacon wasn't crispy enough for my taste. The eggs were cooked great, I appreciate they offer different styles of egg for your sandwiches. I got them over easy. Service was quick for an afternoon weekday pickup. Inside isn't much seating, more for takeout. Popup bagels are the best I've had in the city so far
google avatar

Charles B.

Yelp
Had occasion to be in a meeting just a couple of blocks from what I didn't realize to be a foodie landmark. Went in and got their very attentive and polite counter staff's recommendation as to what to order. Next thing I knew, I was enjoying a pastrami sandwich on a lightly toasted everything bagel with a little mustard. It was delish! Seating is along the window line of this corner spot, at least in winter. I think there was some indication that they have tables set up outside when the weather is suitable.
google avatar

Jiachen Z.

Yelp
This is not far way from our hotel. We ordered customized bagels, including avocado, bacons, two eggs and etc. Coffee latte is not so good, however it costs as pretty much as bluebottle. Rush hour begins from 9:30 in Saturday.
google avatar

Attiya K.

Yelp
Great time at Leo's for bagels and coffee. Super efficient in taking your order regardless of the lines. Window bar seating available. Iced spicy chai was amazing! Lots of bagel options as well as bagel sandwiches and regular sand which options as well. Waited for 4-5 mins and received our order. Everything tasted fresh! Great experience!
google avatar

Nicole K.

Yelp
I am of the (perhaps unpopular) opinion that a bagel is a bagel, and frankly I stand by that, so toppings are of the utmost importance to me when I make the twice-yearly decision to go to a bagel shop. They were out of regular bacon by the time I opted for a BEC this morning at 11:30, and the Canadian bacon/egg/cheese combo left a lot to be desired. The eggs in particular were just not great. The line situation inside is also fairly confusing, but I figured it out eventually so no points deducted for that. Overall it was a pretty forgettable experience, but it did the job.
google avatar

Selena L.

Yelp
Felt like we had received bagels from two completely different shops. The pumpernickel bagel was soft and had great texture, with warm, fluffy egg inside. However, the onion bagel was hard in some parts and the chicken inside was so overcooked some of it was basically inedible :/
google avatar

Katherine M.

Yelp
Solid bagels, not much more to say! There isn't a whole ton of seating space if you wanted to eat in, but otherwise good.
google avatar

Joy G.

Yelp
For someone who's been deprived of NYC bagels for too long, Leo's was a bit of a letdown. Let me set the scene. The best bagel I've ever had in New York is a close tie between Ess-a-Bagel in midtown and Absolute on the UWS - perfectly crunchy exterior, beautiful pillowy interior, a thick slathering of cream cheese, paired with super fresh lox (and, when I'm in a wild mood, capers and tomatoes). I don't know if it was because we came late in the afternoon on a Sunday when the breakfast hordes have come and gone (or maybe the freshest is on a weekday morning, come to think of it) but the everything bagel tasted stale, all dense dough and not much chew. In fact, it was perhaps the driest bagel I've consumed in recent memory. Cream cheese/lox ratio solid but not enough to make up for the sad bagel. The upside to going at 3 in the afternoon was there was no line at all. For a bagel and a small yogurt, the total came out to about $25 (talk about NYC sticker shock). We probably would have had better luck grabbing bagels at one of the midtown institutions.

Yelp
I had been in a wet bliss of imagination and excitement because I was in NYC and the bands of Tropical Storm Ophelia was hitting NY FiDi hard. I had been thinking what other type of foods New Yorkers love to eat when getting breakfast and I went to my friends Instagram to see that she loves bagels. This beautiful place was 5 mins walking distance from my hotel. It was still raining and I was in need of breakfast. I came in and the place was clean, service was fast and customer service was A++. I didn't know what to order because I wanted everything. I had to mentally tell myself "Vanessa, STOP EATING WITH YOUR EYES!!" and therefore I saw THE BECA. Avocado mash, Cheddar, 2 fluffy eggs and bacon. Lots of bacon. I was sold and the person who was making it suggested to use "everything bagel" but I didn't have any floss with me so I chose their freshly baked warm plain bagel. I surely was not disappointed. However, the bagel sandwich was huge. I would've definitely split it with someone because half of the bagel went to waste. I could not eat the other half. My time there was meaningful and memorable. I will return but maybe just a plan bagel with my fav butter and a coffee. Thank you for the service, mi gente.
google avatar

Giselle G.

Yelp
I came here recently to have an everything bagel and it was good but to me the bagel was ok. I think the texture of the bagel was not what I liked. I like a bagel which has a harder exterior. I know the bagel recipe did not change so I am not sure if it was me. I will definitely order another bagel and see if it was an off day for them. I like the ordering system because it is quite easy and straightforward. Even though they had alot of customers; it felt like the system worked and was easy for the customer. I did not wait a long time and my bagel order was correct which is always a concern of mine when places are busy. The place had an expansion so there are places to sit and it looks very nice. I would definitely go back and try this place again.
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
We were recommended this place, highly, and on the 1st out of town visit, was very disappointed. Pre ordered for a morning pickup and picked it up a couple mins after expected time. Bagel and ingredients were more dry than the outside bag they were contained in. Tipped generously and have decided to never tip before delivery or enjoyment of product or service.
google avatar

Emma F.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast bagels, we had ordered online but it still took a while. It's always packed so I would definitely order ahead of time. Bagels were good.

Yelp
very good bagels !! Ordered a variety of different dry bagels towards the end of the day & they were still fresh & delicious Fluffy, dense, chewy, perfect crust definitely would return when we want a delicious bagel but don't want to go far to our Fav Tompkins Square Bagels !!

Yelp
I was definitely expecting this place to be an over hyped tourist trap but I am pleasantly surprised with these bagels. If I was closer in proximity to these, I could easily see them being a go-to spot for me. I tried: Everything bagel with cream cheese: good, loved that the bagel had seasoning on both sides of the bagel. Cream cheese could have been spicer IMO. Hanover Hanover (on a plain bagel) this was a surprising winner for me. The latke combined with the sausage egg and cheese was a HIT. It is very heavy and definitely suits the name of 'hangover' food. I also really liked the plain bagel. It was the perfect consistency and flavor for my taste. Baked salmon salad, this was very oily but also very very yummy. It provided me a few lunches and it was great with some red onion. I also got an iced coffee (just ok, but did the job). I waited about 45 min in line. Is it worth it? I probably would do it again if I wasn't starving but I did see a trick- looks like people place their orders to go online and they can bypass the line to pick up their food! I'd definitely do that. Their interior is small and to-go only. It was quite packed when I popped in but you can tell the place is charming. Service was very swift and efficient. Definitely worth a stop on your bagel crawl. 4.5/5

Yelp
Wonderful spot. Found on the Sunday we were returning home. Fresh, line moves quickly, and one of the best gluten free bagels I've tried. Honey had lox and the fixings, loved. Do your self a favor, go.

Yelp
My #1 bagel spot in the city. Cant leave NYC without getting a New York bagel! Recommend their bacon, egg, & cheese w/plain cream cheese on an everything bagel (lightly toasted).

Yelp
Stay away from this place. I waited 20 fucking minutes for my stupid bagel to be toasted and have cream cheese put on it, and you still never gave it to me, and I had to leave so I could get on with my life. I want my $6.17 back. They must be under new management or be hiring extremely low IQ idiots to work there because, this place has gone steadily downhill, and today was the crash.

Yelp
One of my favorite bagel shops in the city. They renovated and the store offers more seating now. We came on a Wednesday morning after rush hour, luckily the line wasn't too crazy. They have an extensive selection but I always order "The Shimmy" under their Speciality Sandwiches. A delicious concoction of nova scotia salmon, white fish salad, lettuce, tomato and onions. It's a bit on the pricier side but so worth it.
