Leo's Tacos Truck Review - East Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"You’re not officially an Angeleno until you’ve stumbled out of a bar and kept right on stumbling to one of Leo’s Tacos trucks. Their largest operation is at the WSS at Western and Sunset, where they have a full two-truck set-up and more picnic tables than most actual restaurants. They’re here from 10am-2am during the week (3am on weekends) so pretty much any time you want some spit-roasted al pastor, you’ve got access to it. And that’s what most people here are eating: Crispy, sweet al pastor on a corn tortilla, topped with pineapple and whatever you choose from a huge selection of salsas. The mulitas are also great, and if we really want to make sure we’re hangover-free tomorrow, we get a carne asada burrito, loaded with rice, beans, cheese, and meat. Make sure you bring cash, otherwise, you’ll end up having to Venmo the stranger who lent you $10 last night." - Brant Cox

Where to Find Great Tacos, Hot Chicken, and More at Car Washes in LA - Eater LA

"At Tacos Leo, fans queue up to watch the taquero flick off pieces of marinated pork and land them in a still-warm tortilla. Orders arrive by the disposable plateful, with fans hovering over trash cans or the hoods of their cars." - Farley Elliott

My lord. The most spiritual experience I've had eating tacos. Ordered 4 and came back for 3 more, at 1.35 a pop! If I lived near this truck I would be eating here everyday and die happy at 32.

Google
I hadn't had Leo's in a while. I passed by late Monday night after an event, and I had to stop. I had 2 asada, 1 cabeza, and 2 suadero tacos. Solid af 🔥

Google
Popular late night taco truck known for al pastor. These tacos are street size so 4-5 are needed for a meal. Cash and credit cards are accepted. I got the carne asada and the al pastor. There were four different salsas and the spicy guacamole one is the best in my opinion. Free parking available that’s shared with the car wash. There’s an outdoor seating area that’s relatively clean. They speak both English and Spanish.

Google
Love a late night taco truck. They DO accept credit and debit card!!!! I always get the carne asada fries with onions and cilantro on top, it’s always a great late-night snack. Food comes out fast, service is always very good, they have seating right there (next to the car wash)

Google
Excellent carne asada tacos. They provide all of the onions, cilantro and salsas on the side when served. The light green spicy salsa is the best out of the three. Quick and friendly service.

Google
Very good tacos, I suggest the Al Pastor. Not as much of a fan of the Chicken Tacos. Great for a quick bite and easy on the budget

Google
A lot of people really like Leo's and someone said their al pastor is the best, but it doesn't really come close to pastor at Angel's Tijuana Tacos', which granted, doesn't open till 4:00 p.m. while Leo's here is open throughout the day. Not disappointed though, and might return for a daytime taco! Fast service. Good price.

Went here after smelling all the delicious smells while playing at nearby Echo Park Tennis Courts. There’s a reason why the line can get so long here - giant Al pastor on a spit to greet you and friendly staff that can quickly take your order. I got the carne asada nachos, which was delicious and stacked with jalapeños, onions, cilantro, cheese sauce, sour cream, and guacamole. It was wildly enjoyable, and my friend enjoyed her Al pastor tacos and horchata thoroughly.

Yelp
Personally, my favorite street tacos I've tried in LA! Specifically I get the barbacoa (lengua / cabeza) tacos here, and with the salsa verde, cilantro and onion, it's a mouthwatering experience where all the flavors blend together! I recommend it 100%! Also, they are open until late, so when I go to Chinatown bars, I always hit this place after, and it hits the spot! There might be a line, but they are quick to it! The main seating is outside so it aids to the street taco experience!

Yelp
Probably the best tacos I've ever had! Just a simple food truck with great food at great prices. The people running the truck were awesome and helped me choose what to eat. With a smile! There is a nice little area right by the gas station where you can sit down and eat your tacos. We sat down and enjoyed the LA Street in front of us. We enjoyed birria tacos, beef, and shrimp tacos, and some quesadilla. All the accessories for the tacos came in tiny plastic bags, so we enjoyed some chopped onions and tomatoes, and some cilantro with all the sauces as we liked. They also serve Horchata and mango juice. The mango juice was out of this world! This is an amazing food truck, which really should be a highlight of LA .

Yelp
I love Leo's : the truck is in a car wash's parking lot - plenty of parking when I've gone but it can get packed during rushes. There's a park and gas station across the street though! : carne asada burritos al pastor tacos : ~$10 per burrito, ~$2.50 per taco

Yelp
Great spot in Echo Park for grab and go Tacos and more. It's a large taco truck that specializes in Al Pastor tacos and asada fries. I tried both of these, plus the chicken tacos. The Al pastor tacos had a few slices of pork which were really juicy and well marinated and it came with a slice of pineapple inside. The combination of flavors was delicious, I definitely get the craze. The asada fries were also delicious. Served with a cheese sauce, loaded with asada (bits of beef), and topped with sour cream, this dish was super addictive and the portion was huge. The chicken tacos were ok - I wasn't too fond of the quality of the chicken in the taco. But still tasted good. I liked that they served it with sauces on the side, cilantro and onion packets, and plenty of limes to add to the dishes. The food came out quick, only took a few minutes. The servers were all really friendly. It's really close to echo park lake so it's a great stop to go after your walk around the lake or to bring something to eat at the park.

Yelp
Amazing, exactly what I expected from a late night truck. Tasty, filling, perfect! Nice.

Yelp
Best taco in town. We love the al pastor with pineapple. Good for late night craving. We love going to Leo's when we are in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow!!!!! A friend told me about the pastor tacos here. The pastor tacos are like street tacos and the best tacos I have had. Seriously so good. We ordered the vampire taco which is bigger and so flavorful. It's a tiny parking lot so bit of a pain getting in and out. Next time I'm in LA I will definitely be back. There are a few of them I believe in the area but this one is the best.

Yelp
I've had Leo's Tacos many many many years ago and it's just as good as I remembered! My go to are the al pastor tacos with a horchata. The pineapple complements the pork so well. Their horchata is very tasty The condiments automatically come on the side. I like this location. Parking is easy

Yelp
Came here for a late night Monday snack and it was surprisingly busy (which was a good sign) tacos were affordable and service is quick and friendly! The tacos were good and they give you toppings and salad as... not the best tacos/ food but decent, warm, and filling.
google avatar

Toma C.

Yelp
The tacos are now 2.00 but still very good. The Al pastor is perfect with the pineapple. We came on a rainy day and it was great now lines and louse we had towels to wipe down the bench and table. When we finished the rain started so it was perfect timings.

Yelp
We stopped by at this food truck on a Tuesday evening and there was a line! But the line moved super quick and staff were so kind. They have a lot of options, but I tried the carne asada tacos and the salsas were really good, the meat was cooked well, and our food came out fast. We also had the horchata and it was very flavorful! This is a little food truck spot with seating available although it's not the cleanest as tables were dirty and the area this is in is also not the best there was roaches climbing on the walls/streets which was gross. We enjoyed the food and the service just not the location it's in.
google avatar

Emmelynn G.

Yelp
Overall it was really good. Service was good. Parking was good. We went early afternoon and there was no line. Asada was good. Pastor was good (but I Tacos El Gordo is still the GOAT). They keep a lot of toppings and sauces on the side, which I love! I don't have anything bad to say about this place!

Yelp
Who doesn't love Leo's Taco truck?! This is place is a staple. Need a late night food run? Look no further. Leo's has everything. It's perfect because they have seats or you can just stand and eat it all on the top of your trunk. The staff is so nice and definitely forgiving because I always panic because I want to order everything. My go to? Pastor tacos, asada sopes, and a pina drink. (Pineapple). One of the best places to get a late night meal. The price is good. The vibe is great. Must visit if you're in the area. Don't forget to get all the sauces and toppings for your tacos.

Yelp
There are only, oh, five or six thousand taco trucks in LA, give or take a few thousand. Some are great, almost all are good or just fine. This is a pretty good one. There's ample free parking because the truck shares space with a car wash. The tacos are street-sized, double-wrapped in corn tortillas, and basically contain the protein of your choice and nothing else (although each pastor taco was topped with a small pineapple slice). If you wish, you can add onions and cilantro that they give you separately in little plastic bags (they'll ask if you want any). The tacos were fine. They also have vampiros and these are good-sized creations. They're good but I sampled both the chicken and the pastor and the meats were both dried out. They tasted fine but were nothing too special. The meat in the tacos was fairly dry, too. Decent flavor, ample portions. This truck was just fine.

Yelp
Leo's have the Al Pastor pit, which, in my book, is absolutely essential for perfect Al Pastor tacos. The flavors from that pit make a significant difference. I appreciate that Leo's Taco Truck provides a parking lot and seating area for a comfortable dine out experience. It's a small touch that adds to the overall enjoyment. While their Pina (aguafresca) could be a bit better, it still complements the meal OK. Leo's Taco Truck, in my taco-loving opinion, deserves a solid 7.8 out of 10. It's a reliable spot for a delicious taco fix!

Yelp
So long to the best tacos I knew. Five years ago, i nearly worshipped this stuff- I would only go to evening ragers if I was guaranteed we would end at this truck- in EP or Sunset. Sadly every time I get tacos here, it's gone down so bad it's kinda heartbreaking. Im not bothered that the tacos are now $2.25 and the sauces must be imagined beforehand instead of the usual serve yourself sitch, I'm just straight up sad that the tortillas are chewier and the flavors of the beans and meats are soulless. Truly sad but ready to find the next group of folks who are still committed to making tacos right!

Yelp
Came here looking forward to a good al pastor burrito knowing that's what they are known for. My burrito had very dry meat and a bad ratio of meat with the rice overpowering it all. The $11 burrito was very small in size and in comparison to other spots in the area overall lacked any distinction. Either have lower prices because of all the filler or just have more flavorful ingredients. - LA native OUT.

Yelp
Get these tacos and tortas in your mouth. Fantastic fresh tacos, salsa and tortas. Driving home from echo park and checked it out. Super glad I did because it was legit. I got a mix of tacos and my wife got a torta. I don't know which was better because they were both so good. Fast and kind service and you can either eat in the car or post up at a table from the adjacent car wash.
google avatar

Yelp
When I have cravings for tacos this is where I go. They are reliable and cheap. Sometimes parkings an issue, but you just have to wait a couple minutes for someone to leave.

Ankit H.

Yelp
Best Al Pastor in LA!!!! Have been a visitor every weekend for the last 10 years.Never been disappointed!!
google avatar

Cydia N.

Yelp
Payment: Cash only or pay $1 fee for credit card Parking: Small tight parking lot Food: $2 each. Ordered Al pastor and Asada. I enjoyed the Al pastor better. It was not dry and they also served with a slice of pineapple on top. Asada was pretty basic. Overall it was good but it wasn't wow!

Mike C.

Yelp
If you enjoy authentic tacos & burritos, I would not recommend this spot. I don't get the hype. Probably because it's one of the only late night options.
google avatar

David Y.

Yelp
Tasty tacos at a perfect price. Leo's Tacos Truck has many locations in LA. This one is situated in a parking lot next to a car wash and across the street from a park. We arrived early afternoon on a Sunday and had no trouble parking. I got two tacos, an asada and an al pastor. At $2 each, these are pretty cheap tacos. But the flavors are quite mighty. Plus, they offer complimentary sides (diced onion and cilantro, radish, and lime) and sauces (a red and a green). I had the red one and it was flavorful but not spicy (and I don't do spicy). If you are going to make it a meal here, I would recommend getting four or five tacos. Sit at one of the nearby tables or head back to your car. No matter where you eat, the delicious smells and tastes will be there for your enjoyment.
google avatar

Dylan C.

Yelp
A good chain taco truck! They pub themselves as the best al pastor but I think that it tastes a little too much like char siu. It definitely could be better! The cabeza & carne asada is pretty solid though!

Yazmin S.

Yelp
This is the LAST TIME I EVER COME. Not only are the cashiers rude, but they also forget items from my order, they don't give you enough condiments for you to garnish your food and now we found hair in my mothers taco order. It's upsetting and frustrating because by the time we sit down to eat, it's too late to even go back. They offer no type of compensation or believe you when your order is not complete.

Yelp
Great Asada burritos and quesadillas. Miss Mr. Leo great person. Every time I go, never disappointed Best food truck in Eagle rock.

Yelp
My buddy and I decided to do a taco tour of LA. We went to 7 different spots. Leo's Taco Truck was stop number 6! Went with a carne asada taco and an al pastor taco. Carne asada was ok. Not the best I've had, not the worst. An average carne asada. Al Pastor was ok, too. Nice thin slices of pork, and some pineapple in the mix. Once again, good, not great. These tacos were ok/average. Not racing to come back, and wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, but would definitely stop again if I were in the area. $1.75 each which is fair.

Yelp
The first taco place that made me almost vomit I'm experiencing food poisoning from this place right now. Avoid at all costs. Not worth it
google avatar

Sherri G.

Yelp
went back again. The food was adequate, my friend got Asada fries, fries were soggy and overall not that great and still same complaint I asked and asked but they wouldn't put onions, cilantro or salsa inside. i drive Uber and having it all inside would be be perfect. not going back.
google avatar

Mateo G.

Yelp
Delicious champurado! Fast service! And a great hang for late night hangouts. the Al pastor with pineapple was great!
google avatar

Yelp
Best all meat burrito and veggie quesadilla in LA Been going for years and it's consistently good even when I'm not drunk.
google avatar

Horlenes F.

Yelp
I tried Leo's taco truck because it's super close to my job. The food was so bomb, the sides were not stingy and the person who took our order was super nice. The reason I dock down a point is because I had called in my order previously but when I got to the truck they hadn't prepared it. Apparently the owner takes all the calls and then sends them to each location. For some reason my order was never sent over which was unpleasant news. But they handled it right on, and my food was ready asap!
google avatar

Nikki F.

Yelp
Cash only! Love this spot for my taco fix. I love topping off my meal with a horchata on the side. Parking can sometimes suck if it's too packed but I always manage to get a spot.
google avatar

Edward S.

Yelp
Do believe the hype! When it comes to al pastor tacos, you need to spot the trompo with the huge stacked hunks of grilled dripping meat. If not, turn around, walk away, and don't look back. Luckily, Leo's has two spinning at the same time, which means that the long line in the giant parking lot will move really rapidly and efficiently. The corn tortillas are swooped from the grill so that they can catch the incredibly thin slices of pork that are shaved off. A quick flip of the knife knocks a chunk of pineapple on top of each taco. All you have to do is dress it with onions, cilantro, limes, and your choice of salsa. The al pastor is perfect. It is crispy and slightly charred on the edges. The meat is so juicy, tender, and delicious from the delicious marinade, that you will be salivating uncontrollably between bites. Pineapple is made for pork. The sweetness is a perfect counter to the rich savory goodness. This is probably one of the best al pastor tacos in LA.
google avatar

Preston I.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best taco trucks in LA! Many locations in the city. The pork tacos are my personal favorite. I believe it's cash only, so be sure to come prepared!
google avatar

Jason G.

Yelp
My go to spot for tacos. El Primo! Great service, friendly staff and spot on red sauce.
google avatar

Sareen A.

Yelp
This place was a great find! We got 1 al pastor and 1 carne asada, $2 each. Pricing was so good for the quality of meat we got. The carne asada was seasoned and grilled perfectly. The tortillas were simple, and the tacos came with 2 salsas, one green and one red, both of which were very spicy. They also give lemon, onion and cilantro in a separate bag on the side which makes it easy to customize. This truck was definitely worth the visit, and they were so quick to make the tacos too! Definitely going to stop here next time.
google avatar

Athena W.

Yelp
Delightful food truck off the 101! We stopped by on our way home after a long day at universal studios. They're right off the Hwy in the parking lot of the car wash. 4 tacos and an agua Fresca for $11. Totally worth the pit stop. Their al pastor is bomb! The cashier is hella nice. If you don't have cash they take CC. It's an extra $1 charge.
google avatar

Luhl C.

Yelp
Ordered nachos and chips all hard do not go here hopefully they change up there workers or food situation it's not it at the moment
google avatar

Jocelyn H.

Yelp
Let me just say I would go back and get just one huarache. Seriously so good, it was a perfect size and fill you up fast.I got the chicken which was a great choice. I also enjoyed a taco de buche and taco de Al pastor which I loved, a lot of the places tend to over salt buche but not this spot. Tortillas were hand made but just know this place is well known so you might have to wait a bit for your order.
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
The pastor stand is downwind of an open-air carwash a few feet away. :(
google avatar

Shu G.

Yelp
Tastes disappointing tbh. Seeing a long line so thought their food must be good, but it just turns out that they are very slow in making the food, even if you only ordered tacos. Oh, can't forget to mention that the food portion is very small, be aware!
google avatar

Marisa C.

Yelp
Great food and great selection of salsas and toppings! The taco truck has become very famous so its easy to see why they are expanding. Ambiance isnt really a factor here. Each stand is close to a car wash so there is seating nearby but its also nice to just eat in your car or take to go! I went with a couple of friends and got the el pastor, asada, and lengua tacos and also a horchata. The service was pretty quick and got our food to us in a couple of minutes. At the same time we got our cilantro and onions, lemons, radishes, and salsa. We took it to go since it was sprinkling outside. Personally loved the el pastor with the pineapple and I always love lengua. Definitely would come again and again! Great place for quick and delicious food!
google avatar

Jamie Y.

Yelp
Came here on Cinco de Mayo/Taco Tuesday to pick up some tacos to celebrate! There was no line and the service was super fast. Each taco is only $1.50 too! They're known for their adobada and oh man, it's definitely one of the best adobada I've had. I love that they include a slice of pineapple on it! The carne asada was just okay but the tripa and cabeza was really good.
google avatar

DJ W.

Yelp
Delicious quick Mexican food whenever you're in the LA area. I always get the torta Leo and it never disappoints.
google avatar

Rebekka L.

Yelp
Tonight I took an Uber out to pasadena and I had no one to eat with so I asked my Uber Driver if he ate yet and he said no. He suggested that we eat at the taco place that he loves in downtown so he took me to Leo's taco truck. I know it's a little bit irrelevant but he told me his ex-wife cheated on him and I felt really bad for him. However I told him to open up his heart to love. Onto the food- I got uno Horchata, uno taco tripa (this is my favorite - I've been to Tijuana 5 times and I always get this), uno pollo and uno pastor. They also have a pineapple pork one. It's delicious. It's cheap and I would say my favorite is the pollo. Try it! Also please add me on Instagram- rebekkalien for more photos.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
I eat Leo's tacos twice a month. I generally have the lengua and cabeza along with a third taco. The flavor for both is so good. There are a lot of tacos in Southern California, many which are mediocre. Leo's is exceptional street tacos that hits the spot every time.
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
NOOO, this is not a real Leo's - it just can't be! The Leo's that I know and love have amazing al pastor tacos that are cooked on the spit to perfection that has a nice saltiness to it with large pineapple chunks; however, this location was the total opposite! I ordered 3 al pastor tacos, being amped up to shovel them into my mouth once received. However, I saw that the al pastor was just not temperature hot, had no crisp edges, was super bland (how could this be?!), and the pineapple slices had a mildew-y/old dish rag taste to it. UGH. Definitely worth going to the other location (on La Brea), where there are huge lines, always fresh tacos, and pinas galore! I've been tricked! +avoid this location of Leo's! +lukewarm al pastor +pineapples with mildew-y/old dish rag taste +limited parking in gas station lot
google avatar

Hannah J.

Yelp
Their Al Pastor is AMAZING. My Latinx friends highly recommended this place and Boyyyyyyy their recs did not disappoint. Their tacos are $1.75 and I could eat 10 of them. I only ate 4 this time with a carne asada molita, which I absolutely loved as well. The cheese and two tortillas made it so worth it. If you are in the LA area, I would highly recommend these tacos. The three sauces are delicious. FYI, the creamy green one is spicier than it looks. The red one looks very spicy but wasn't as spicy but most flavorful. The salsa Verde was the spiciest but also I couldn't get enough of it. Worth coming to get Mexican tacos here!
