"Open for: Breakfast, lunchPrice range: $In 2020, local pastry chef Pete Schmutte opened Leviathan Bakehouse with four other local bakers of repute — Jessica Kartawich, Matt Steinbronn, and brothers Jesse and Sam Blythe — to a tsunami of attention. Four years later, they still craft the area’s best croissants and breads, including a signature porridge sourdough, sandwiches for lunch, and coffee under the hungry eye of a leviathan mural by Indy artist C.S. Stanley. The rest of the offerings include a strawberry-guava Danish, pretzel croissant, and a lemon-cinnamon braid, to name a small selection.Must-try dish: Order a pitcher of mimosas made with sparkling wine and the herbal house lemonade." - Brian Garrido

Stopped into this shop a couple times while working in town. The second day I ordered a sandwich. Don’t remember its name, but it had Turkey and bacon. I requested it on a croissant with added gruyer. It was truly spectacular. It looked amazing and tasted even better than it looked. The breve cappuccino was excellent too. I will definitely return next time I’m in Indy

Leviathan Bakehouse is an absolute treasure! The Lemon-Cinnamon Braid was nothing short of perfection—light, flaky, and bursting with flavor. Paired with a seasonal latte that was perfectly crafted, it made for a delightful treat. If you’re a fan of locally made coffee and artisan pastries, this is the place to be. The attention to detail in every bite and sip is remarkable, and the warm, welcoming vibe makes it even better. Don’t miss this spot!

Upon entering Leviathan, one is immediately enveloped in a sensory symphony. The air is thick with the intoxicating aroma of freshly baked bread, a scent that dances upon the tongue even before a single bite. I began my culinary journey with the biscuits and gravy, a dish that, while undeniably salty, was a testament to the chef's mastery of dough and butter. The biscuits were clouds of fluffy delight. The MEG sandwich was a revelation. The bread, a vessel of pure joy, stole the show. The strawberry guava croissant, however, was a celestial masterpiece, a symphony of flavors that transported me to a tropical paradise. And then there was the croissant that began with K. Words fail to capture its buttery, sugary perfection. The honey bunny was a serviceable companion to my meal, though it lacked the spark of its more illustrious counterparts. My wife’s caramel latte, while undoubtedly delicious, was a tad overpriced for its earthly origins. I urge Leviathan to continue its bread-baking endeavors with unwavering passion. The coffee and sandwiches, while enjoyable, pale in comparison to the celestial creations that emerge from their ovens. Let Leviathan be a beacon of bread-based bliss in this mundane world.

Had the breakfast sandwich and eclair - both excellent! The croissant is the best I’ve found in Indy. The people behind the bar were also so nice and friendly. Interiors are a mix of old school and modern - love that they kept the touch of older architecture in here. Can’t wait to be back.

The staff, food, and coffee drinks here are incredible! Just steps from the Monon, Leviathan has an outstanding neighborhood vibe and the staff are friendly and dedicated to their craft of serving great drinks, food, breads and pastries. The quiche—regardless of the seasonal version—is out of this world! The crust is perfection and the filling tender. It’s hard to go wrong with any of the pastries but the pain chocolate, pain suisse, hand pies, and kouign aman. The baristas here are first rate and they serve local roasters Blue Mind coffee. If you’re accustomed to large-chain hyper-sweet coffee drinks, you won’t find that here. Menu items are prepared to order. If you’re in a hurry, you may want to visit when you’re not hurried. Food & drinks can take some time. The outdoor seating area is pet friendly. There are limited parking spots in front on College and angled spots along 11th. There’s an unfinished lot at the end of 11th, as well as parking along 11th on the opposite side of the College.

LOVE this place. So much so we asked them to put together a catering order for brunch at our home the day after our wedding as well as Easter Sunday (thank you Jesse). Best overstuffed chocolate croissant around. Best breakfast sandwich in Indy hands down. Daily quiche is a sleeper and their take on biscuits & gravy with the polenta biscuits is awesome. Rotating viennoiserie is my personal weakness and is becoming a problem. Rotating Blue Mind coffee selections. Even better people behind the scenes as their entire staff is always consistently great and welcoming every day. Best of Indy.

Had a delightful experience at Leviathan Bakehouse. Started with a latte, which was good and had a rich, smooth flavor. Also tried the hibiscus strawberry tea; it's not sweet, but it was still refreshing and enjoyable as an iced tea. For breakfast, opted for the breakfast sandwich. Initially, I thought it was a bit pricey, but after the first bite, it was clear it was worth every penny. The croissant was perfectly fluffy, the ingredients were fresh, and the egg just melted in my mouth. A truly delicious start to the day. To top it off, I got a travel cake with pistachio flavor. It was good, though a bit heavy, but the flavor was spot on. The atmosphere is a charming mix of modern and old-timey, which adds to the overall experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making the visit even more pleasant. Parking is mainly street parking, but there's a small lot on 11th Street which makes it convenient. Overall, Leviathan Bakehouse offers a great combination of delicious food and beverages in a cozy setting. Definitely worth a visit!

Google
Legendary bakery! My wife and I decided to try Leviathan, looking for a delicious breakfast on the way to the homeshow. We were very satisfied after devouring the scrumptious bits of ambrosia. We tried a pistachio croissant, breakfast sandwich, and the biscuits and gravy. They all were extremely delicious. Along with the coffee. The service was timely and polite. The only unpleasant aspect was the crowd. It was very packed with customers. With the little seating options, we decided to get it to go. This, however, did not discourage us from future patronage. Highly recommended

Yelp
So good! Haven't been here in a while and decided to stop by as we were close and they sent me an email reminding me of my points!! Any place that has a reward system is chefs kiss! Definitely makes decision making swing their way. Walked in kind of late, about an hour and a half before they closed and was still able to get the sandwiches. The display was pretty empty but there were a few goodies left. Got the white chocolate and pistachio travel bar with the honey pistachio latte. Both of those were so good! I really liked the bar and the latte was made well. Didn't really get any pistachio flavor but the latte was great nonetheless. Also got the turkey TBA sando and the veggie breakfast sando and they were good! The service was great, every one greeted us and was patient while we decided what we wanted. Also got the brownie and it was so chocolatey! There's some places to sit, it's not very big on the inside. The tables were empty but needed to be cleaned off so we just left. They weren't busy so i do feel like they should have been clean, regardless, will be back!

Yelp
I love the GF treats and coffee at Leviathan! I also appreciate the pricing and feel like I'm getting a great value with high quality food and beverage. They have a wonderful selection and friendly staff. The walking cakes are the perfect size to satisfy a sweet craving for a random celebration! The coffee is great and I appreciate that oat milk is a standard option. I love the seasonal Summon the Linzer latte when it's available. They also have great birthday rewards, so sign up now! The location is great. It's within a short walk to the Monon trail, the Old Northside, and Bottleworks. I would note that people with strollers or wheelchairs would likely need some assistance getting inside. The ramp is at the other end of the building near the hooka lounge.

Yelp
Absolutely loved my little trip to Leviathan Bakehouse! This cafe/bakery is super cozy and sweet. It's quite small inside, but there's a lot of seating packed into the little space. During peak hours on a Saturday, there were definitely groups waiting for tables to open up. Online/to-go orders were flying off the shelves! The staff was cranking out drinks and fulfilling orders so quickly and efficiently. The pastries are incredible!! The pistachio croissant with its shiny green exterior was fantastic! The pain au chocolate was also leagues above other chocolate croissants I have eaten before. The line to place an order was long, but I enjoyed having several minutes to gawk at the display case and study all the great options. I would love to come back to try their small menu of breakfast options, but it was too busy this particular weekend.

Kia T.

Yelp
When I walked into Leviathan it was packed with people so I was confident it was going to be a great experience. The baked goods looked amazing and very tempting. I am not the biggest croissant lover but I chose the sandwich because I wanted something filling. I was underwhelmed by the sandwich unfortunately. The flavors were there but because it was dry that took away from the experience

Kayla H.

Yelp
Quick service for togo orders, food was great! It's buzzing and busy at 10am on a Saturday.

Maks L.

Yelp
By far, the best bakery and cafe in Indianapolis downtown area. They specialize in baked goods and fresh breads, but their coffees are pretty good too. They have an indoor and outdoor seating space, and you will often find many fur babies enjoying the patio here. My favorite is their almond croissant and honey pistachio latte. The latte is not too sweet and still very high on flavor. They don't charge extra for milk alternatives. I love that they offer online ordering which has been very useful for me when parking is difficult. After placing order online, you still have to check in with the staff but they make sure to get you your order fresh and quickly.

Yelp
If you live in Chatham Arch, Old Northside, Herron Morton or Lockerbie, holy crap this is place is amazing. LOVE their croissants of ever variety, quiches and their sandwiches. Lattes here are well poured and they usually have Mexican coke in the fridge. Parking is annoying on the side street but its always a fun walk for me through Chatham Arch.

Sarah M.

Yelp
We come here every month or two to have a late breakfast together on the weekend and always have the best time. Sometimes we will sit inside, sometimes outside (and if it's really nice weather, then we'll even bring our dogs and sit outside with them). The first time I ever came here my best friend had me order the breakfast sandwich and I've never looked back. I usually despise ham on any sandwiches, but this isn't your typical lunch meat cut and it's actually really tasty. The verde sauce brings the perfect amount of moisture to the buttery croissant and it's piled up with bacon. I always think about trying the biscuits and gravy, but then I am worried I won't like it as much as the breakfast sandwich and chicken out lol We each got a caramel latte and a breakfast sandwich. We also always get two different pastries to split with each other. Today we chose the kouign-amann and the strawberry guava croissant. Both were so tasty and buttery, but the strawberry guava was filled with the most decadent cream and fresh fruit jam, so it was our favorite this visit. Before leaving we stopped back in to grab some iced drinks to cool down with and got the strawberry hibiscus tea and the herbaceous lemonade. Both are the perfect amount of sweet and taste very fresh! I love how much sage comes through in the herbaceous lemonade. The staff are always friendly and the bathrooms are always clean. Definitely recommend stopping in if you are in the Chatham Arch neighborhood. There is also a beautiful plant shop next door to check out after eating!

Mason S.

Yelp
The line to order was steady on a Saturday morning and I can understand why. If you plan on going then make sure you account for a line or I did see other people ordered ahead which is also an option. I got the breakfast sandwich which came with their homemade croissants. It was very filling. The Chocolate Chip Zucchini Coffee Cake Slice was fresh and spongy and I wish I would've gotten more baked goods. The iced carmel latte with almond milk was delicious as well. They also had some coffee cups, coffee grounds and items you could grab while in line to buy. There isn't a lot of parking but I did see street parking nearby or it did seem like a good amount of people just stop in so they aren't parked too long.

Yelp
I had croissants and a lavender latte! The lavender latte was just delicious. I could taste the flower note without being over powering! The croissants were also wonderful very flaky. The croissant stuffed with ham and cheese was so good! The service was wonderful. Very interactive. The cafe was full of patrons at 10am on a week day.

Yelp
Yesterday was National Croissant Day, so naturally, I had to visit the spot that was just included on Yelp's "Top 100 Croissants in the Country" list! They also were named the "Best Breakfast Sandwich in the State" according to Yelp data a few years back. To sum it up, their reviews are so good because everything they make is so delicious. I combined both of their award-winning items by ordering a breakfast sandwich with an everything croissant. Yeah... it was a croissant with everything bagel seasoning on top. Truly -- does it get better than that? It was UNREAL delicious. It was warm and had Indiana-local city ham, smoked bacon, Gruyère Swiss cheese, medium salsa verde, and "a blanket of soft shallot baked eggs." Pure perfection. I also ordered the blue matcha tea with a splash of almond milk. You can also order the blue matcha latte (in my photos) to get the beautiful latte art on top too. After co-working in the cafe for an hour, I stood up and said "fine, I'll order more" to no one. LOL. Just kidding, but I couldn't resist ordering more. I got the LVTHNTBA (turkey, bacon, avocado) sandwich on a croissant for my husband, as well as the brown butter chocolate chip cookie for the road. Both were incredible. My husband has lived all over Europe and usually says his food is pretty good here... but this? He said this sandwich was AMAZING. And it was takeout and I didn't get it to him for an hour after it was made. And he still said it was incredible. We can't wait to come back again and again.

Yelp
I want to like this place. I've given it several tries over the years and I should just expect to be disappointed. Be prepared for at least one thing you want to try to be sold out. Previously it had been limited to pastry items but today we came to try the biscuits and gravy and they were sold out. I was able to try the TBA which is something I've always wanted to try but was never in the mood for lunch food when I came previously. Husband tried the breakfast sandwich and would pass on it next time. Cashier felt like she did not care at all but everyone else was great. Like noticing we had a Topo Chico and needed it to be opened. Ambiance is nice. Mix of families and couples.

Yelp
These folks literally do everything well. Stopped in and had a Jambon Burre sandwich for breakfast. Stupid good. Picked up a loaf of fresh baked marbled rye. They offered to slice it. We had ordered some pastrami from NY and this was perfect. Leviathan Bakehouse for the win.

Ashli A.

Yelp
Leviathan remains a solid choice in the line up of coffee and pastries in the city. Croissants are buttery and delicious. Got the ham and cheese and regular croissant which were amazing. Coffee always hits the mark as well. We got (hot) honey pistachio and (iced) peppermint mocha. Regardless of what you order here you can be sure it'll be delicious and prepared well.

Yelp
A few days after Yelp announced their list of the top 100 croissants in the U.S. the stars aligned and I just so happen to find myself at one of the spots that made the list... Leviathan Bakehouse. I was there for a few hours with coworkers and was able to try a couple things off of their menu. I started with their blue matcha latte with almond milk and one of their breakfast sandwiches (which I hear have also been featured on a top Yelp list). The sandwich I got was a vegetarian one and it was scrumptious as can be. A warm croissant with everything bagel seasoning sprinkled on top, roasted sweet potatoes, herbed goat cheese, and a blanket of eggs. My goodness was it delicious! I had never had sweet potatoes on a sandwich before and let me tell you - it hit the spot! Before heading out I also got a small treat to take home with me. Kouigns are insanely good so when I saw they had them I had to get one. I enjoyed it later on a flight back to Columbus and it was everything I wanted and more. If you're unsure as to what a kougin is (pronounced like queen) it's a pastry made out of croissant dough with a lovely caramelized sugar crunch on top. You gotta try one! Outside of the food, the space was great, had plenty of seating, natural light and the wifi was strong. The service was very friendly too. I'm not surprised people love them on Yelp, they sure sold me!

David G.

Yelp
The parking here SUCKS! They need to pave the back parking lot to allow us to actually be able to get into the building! Review of the food forthcoming.

Paul N.

Yelp
Leviathan, I love you, especially when you load up my pain au chocolat to the literal brim. Your French baguettes are a little harder than I like, but they still taste delicious. Your laminated pastries though... flakey, buttery, gooey insides. Absolute perfection. I recently went to an awful bakery which reminded me of how well you do things. The lemon braid, the coffee cake with lemon and poppyseed. And then there's jambon beure (sp).

Bridget K.

Yelp
My sister brought me here for the first time and I was enamored. It's so warm and welcoming inside and the food all looked amazing! Unfortunately they didn't have many gluten free options, so I settled for a chai tea latte. Service was very slow this particular day and I waited about 20 minutes for me tea. If we were able to sit and hang out there wouldn't have been a problem, but I ordered it to go. I think if they had a system for to-go orders it would help. Everyone I know who has tried their food loves it.

Sara S.

Yelp
Honestly, the turkey sandwich is the best sandwich I've had in Indianapolis, and maybe anywhere! It is soooo good. I always order it on focaccia, instead of marble rye. I've also had the quiche, which is very good. This was the first time I tried a brownie and it was super rich and soft and delicious. Would highly recommend!!

Cassandra W.

Yelp
I decided to stop here after seeing Leviathan on the top 100 croissants in the country. The list definitely held up! My strawberry guava croissant was flaky and filled with a mix of jam and a light vanilla cream. I also tried the lavender shortbread. While it was a bit too much lavender for me personally, the texture was great. They also have a great selection of coffee drinks. I stuck with my tried and true Con Miel (honey and cinnamon). The inside does have limited seating. We ended up sharing the large table in the middle with multiple groups.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
No wonder this local bakery is packed on weekends, and even often during the week. The relatively small menu is packed with delicious options; the vegetarian breakfast sandwich was especially unique and yummy. Loved the masala chai, and a taste of the lemon croissant led me to purchase one to take home. Comfy interior with a low-key vibe.

JD B.

Yelp
Bakehouse is a very fitting name. Definitely not just your standard coffee shop. More of a quaint, seat yourself artisan breakfast/brunch vibe. Specialty food and drink. I've only been twice so not an expert in their menu, but I've enjoyed my experiences so far.

Eric T.

Yelp
Upon entering the building you're greeted with the wonderful smells of fresh baked breads and pastries! We've visited this lovely establishment on several occasions and have always had an exceptional experience! A full loaf of freshly baked sourdough is only $7 and marble rye is $8, Outstanding! This visit my wife got the vegetarian breakfast sandwich and I went with The Meg, both were excellent choices. For the most part it's self service, you order then grab a table and wait for your food to be brought. The water station is self service also, which is perfect for me since I drink water like there's no tomorrow!

Hayley S.

Yelp
Leviathan Bakehouse is a great little friendly bakery on College Ave. It's nice for a meet up with a friend +/- some work (depending on the day/time, it can get crowded and loud, so if you need your space and quiet, just keep that in mind). They have a revolving menu of pastries alongside coffee/tea + sandwiches. I'm always curious what they will create next. The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is because their croissants always seem to taste slightly burnt, and I've had them several times now. Saying that, however, definitely worth checking out!

Jon I.

Yelp
As someone who lives down the street from Leviathon, this place should be a regular stop. The food here is decent, but as noted by many other Yelp reviewers, the customer service is dreadful, and the staff seem annoyed whenever a customer arrives. On a Friday morning, I ordered a breakfast sandwich to go and sat by the register. From the moment I arrived, it was clear the staff had no interest in engaging with customers unless absolutely necessary. People walked in and were met with silence, unsure of where to place their orders. Several customers had to ask, "Where am I supposed to order?" After waiting 10 minutes while others who ordered after me received their food, I went to the counter to inquire about my order. I noticed two staff members behind the counter chatting, seemingly oblivious to the orders being completed. Customers had to walk up to the counter themselves to check if their orders were ready, as no one was calling out names. After 20 minutes, I went up again to find out where my sandwich was, only to discover it had been sitting off to the side the entire time. When I expressed my frustration over the long wait, especially considering it wasn't even a busy morning, one of the staff members casually said, "I don't know, we just didn't call your name." No apology, no effort to make things right.

Madison C.

Yelp
Leviathan Bakehouse is the perfect coffee place to catch up with a friend. Today I got to try Leviathan bakehouse for the first time and I was very impressed with their latte art, peep the photograph to see what I'm talking about! The lattes and bakery goods were beautiful and scrumptious. I highly recommend checking this coffee shop!! Cheers

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
Very cool coffee shop and Bakehouse. Cool vibe inside and right next to a bike trail outside. We ordered the breakfast sandwich, veggie sandwich, cinnamon twist and kouign aman. Everything was super good. I can't wait to go back!! Prices were decent.

David C.

Yelp
This little bake house has it going on! I have totally fallen for their LVTHN TBA sandwich for lunch and you have to go overboard with their croissants and splurge on a slice of cheesecake when it's available. Quaint little shop that lends you yearning to stay and work all day if you could.

Joanne Y.

Yelp
This was my second time having lunch at Leviathan (the first was a few years back when my coworkers and I received gift cards to this bakehouse). I finally decided to bring my husband here since he loves almond croissants and we were in the area. We were hungry so we each got sandwiches as well. I had The Meg and he had the LVTHN TBA. We both loved our sandwiches (especially the Meg). We also took a almond croissant, danish, and a biscotti to-go. The biscotti was absolutely my favorite. The croissant and danish were good as well. There's plenty of seating (but not a lot). There is also a few tables outside. They have parking along the street and at the side of their building as well. The staff was very friendly and we just had a wonderful lunch. Can't wait to go back!

Beth M.

Yelp
The "MEG" and wash it down with Herbaceous Lemonade! Everything tasted great and friendly service!

Howard R.

Yelp
My review: This is review is based off the experience that I shared with my partner, from the moment we stepped in, to the moment we stepped out. - Ambience: The furniture to the colors, to the decorations are a solid 10/10. The overall vibe is great, and you feel that this is a cool coffee shop overall. - Service: The person who took our order looked like they did not want to be there working what so ever. I first placed an order for one of their pastries then changed my mind to order a sandwich. When I told her I wanted to change my order, she just looked very annoyed. Not to mention they didn't talk at all. At all. They told us the price of the order and that was it. Could have at least say "welcome to our store". We go to a few local coffee shops to get some morning/brunch snacks and this is the first time we just felt unwelcome and felt like an inconvenience to her. Then, we receive our food. The first person who came by gave us a smile and was pleasant but the other gentleman who brought our sandwich just handed it to my partner at a distance and just immediately walked away without saying a word. Our immediate thought was "wow, they also just don't want to be here". Having been to other coffee shops our experiences are always great and at the end of the day, it isn't just the food or coffee that brings you back to the shop, but it's the people who work there too. Customer service 2/10. - Food: The pastry we enjoyed was great, and it was simple. The sandwich that I ate was plain, and it didn't have much flavor. The pastry selection is solid and there is a variety to choose from so on that front it's rated a 8/10. The sandwich, which I only ate one of their types of sandwich had ham, salsa verde, egg, bacon, and cheese. The egg didn't taste seasoned, the salsa didn't have flavor, and the choice to sandwich it between a croissant is interesting. Overall a 2/10. Changes can be made overall to better this experience, but then again, this is our opinion on our experience. We enjoy giving business to local businesses and giving feedback that can potentially better the overall experience for others.

Nmmn L.

Yelp
The food and baked good are outstanding. Best bakery in Indy. The service is the WORST. The front staff talks among themselves while no mind to customer. Owner watches it and says nothing. They finish their discussions and THEN make your order. I always swear I am never going back-but then you think of their delicious baked goods! Some day someone else will open with great bread and pastries-but until then I am afraid you must simply put up with it if you want their product.

Emm M.

Yelp
This is a nice local bakery near north Mass Ave. They have a limited selection, but still it was hard to choose what I wanted. A lot of good options. I got a chocolate croissant and a cookie. Both were great. Lots of space inside. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick for how busy it was. This is very easy to walk to from Mass Ave and it's right near the Monon and downtown cultural bike trail. Check this place out sometime!

Hillary D.

Yelp
Cute and cozy coffee shop, I enjoyed the hunny bunny late and the breakfast sandwich which was hearty and elevated at the same time. I ordered food online since it was a sat morning and they made the latte when I got there so I didn't have to wait at all. I will be back, I only wish they opened at 7am so I could go there before work!

Samantha A.

Yelp
This place knows how to do pastries! I always love my experience here and is worth the short wait in line. My most recent visit was a Sunday morning and not only did I run into family there but I noticed multiple other people ran into folks they knew - I love that kind of vibe. My husband and I split breakfast sandwiches and an almond croissant (ask for it heated up!). We sat on the patio which is shaded and cool in the morning. This was my first time having the vegetarian breakfast sandwich and it hit the spot. The fresh heirloom tomato was the cherry on top - so fresh. It is worth the drive from the northside for this place. Always!

Mia T.

Yelp
I have tried everything here from cinnamon rolls and croissants to their biscuits and gravy and coffee. I have never gotten something that I wasn't impressed with! You can tell they put a lot of love and precision in their baked goods. If you visit in a weekend, especially early afternoon, the line sometimes goes out the door. I usually put my stuff down first before getting in line if it's a remote work day for me. The staff who work here are very kind and they have a rewards program and sometimes you can get free coffee or a few dollars off a purchase. Definitely worth joining if you frequent this place. There is plenty of seating indoors and they have outside seating as well. There's a small parking lot to the right of the building or you can park near the bottleworks district if the parking lot is full. I always love trying new things here as the quality never disappoints!

Seth M.

Yelp
LOVE this local bakery. Incredible vibe, some of the best baked goods and pastries in the city. I've never been disappointed here. Even their lattes and coffee options aren't bad for being a bakery. Great location right across the street from the Garage. Do yourself a favor and visit!

Maddie M.

Yelp
Wow, this place is a hidden gem! I was super excited to try their croissants after seeing the pistachio croissant online (my personal favorite), but when I went in they didn't have it so I got the strawberry guava instead which was really good, but I didn't really taste the guava. However the pistachio travel cake was delicious and almost tasted like a cake pop consistency. The iced latte I got was just ok, but overall I'm happen to see a place like this in Indy. It has plenty of seating and is a great place to catch up with friends or get some work done and it's not that it's a little bit off the beaten path!

Kristin U.

Yelp
I enjoyed my first visit to Leviathan Bakehouse. I really liked the vibe of the place. It seemed like a great spot to hang out for a bit and get some work done or meet friends. The baked goods were visually appealing and well-labeled. I really appreciated that they marked which ones were gluten free by their name cards inside the case! I didn't end up trying any of them (I'm also dairy free and didn't see anything marked) but my toddler bff enjoyed a pistachio cake and it definitely looked good! I tried a blue matcha with a splash of almond milk. I had no idea what a blue matcha was... and that's part of why I wanted to try it! While I like the flavor of green matcha better, the blue matcha was pretty good with some honey in it. I'd consider getting it again, but I'll probably try one of the other teas next time instead. They had an oolong tea on the board and I'd love to try it sometime!

Yelp
Usually get a quiche of the day, which you can wait and have them heat or take with you to heat if you're carrying out. Also never get out of there without some decadent sweet treat- like the brown butter chocolate chip cookie (so naughty and so good!). Also, haven't found better almond croissants anywhere in the city, so if you find yourself Jonesing after a recent European excursion, duck in here for a quick gustatory reminder. Limited seating, but great for carry out if you can snag a nearby parking spot if traveling on 4 wheels. Which has me thinking it is a great destination if riding around on bikes, so you can bypass parking stress...and they have some outdoor seating.

Yelp
This place was full of locals on a Sunday morning. The coffee beans were the first thing we smelled with notes of earthy chocolate. I ordered an americano and it came out perfect. I also tried the spinach and feta quiche and it was delicious, perfectly seasoned and baked. It came with a side of mixed greens lightly dressed with simple flavors. My husband opted for the croissant breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon and cheese. The croissant was crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. We both loved the coffee so much we bought a large bag of beans for home. We also bought a loaf of focaccia and marble rye for sandwiches at home. This place had a great vibe and friendly staff and if we are ever in the area again we will for sure go back!

Yelp
Im glad I found this gem .... This is a uniques bakery with some FRESH FRESH HOMEMADE goodies..... im so sad they are not open Mondays was going to stop in on my way back home to Cincy to get the other items I wanted to try :( ..."the Meg", "hunny bunny latte" and the blue matcha latte.... Onto the food the breakfast sammy was served fresh and cooked to order, it was a piping hot melt in yo mouth breakfast sammy with some definite level of flavor. The Blueberry Lavender Croissant was soooo light and soft with a perfect balance of flavor... it is hard to describe but it is downright delicious, i could definitely eat one of these EVERY DAY . As for The gorgeous George very tasty but i prefer a milk chocolate on top of my eclairs. I cant wait for another weekend getaway to Indy so i can specifically come here !!!

Yelp
I'd give it six stars if I could. Always great coffee and service. Try the biscuits and gravy...you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
What a lovely bakery! We stopped in after checking out a Yelp event next door and it turned out to be the perfect spot for a late breakfast. My daughter and I both enjoyed an Americano - the coffee was hot, strong and had a hint of berry flavor. My daughter had the veggie breakfast sandwich with an everything croissant and I had a piece of the daily quiche. Both were delicious and filling. We also picked up a baguette to enjoy at home. Yum!

Yelp
This place is so unassuming when you drive by! We decided to stop in on Sunday when we were out for a walk because the place is always packed. The food and drinks are so good! From homemade bread to the coffee, iced tea and breakfast sandwiches, everything was so good! Definitely stop by. They even have outdoor seating and boozy brunch drinks! Will definitely be back for this tasty goodness!

Yelp
Excellent baked goods! Awesome coffee. The service was wonderful- we came in with in the hour of it closing, () but they were very accommodating and fast. We got our pastries and coffee quickly. Got to sit and visit and left at closing. The place itself is lovely and comfortable. Thank you!

Yelp
Leviathan has delicious pastries, good lattes, and is a great place to either catch up with friends or get some work done!! I've been going here for the past two years and I've had a good experience every time! In terms of food, I've had the best experience with the pastries (the pistachio crossaint is so good!) and in terms of coffee my favorite is the miel! There's bar type seats by the windows and tables spread out throughout the cafe. Servers are friendly and accommodating, and you can really tell this place is a community favorite! It's near the garage so it would be fun to grab a coffee from here get some work done and head over to the garage for a bite!

Yelp
Hip-cool place to get your morning coffee and pastry on. They have an impressive glass case of artisan pastries and sweets. They also serve up some made-to-order breakfast specials. I think it might change regularly. Not sure. Location is just north of the big Bottling complex. It can get crowded - especially on weekends. Good places tend to be.
