I didn't think a place like this existed in DC. Very California like vibe. Great place to work on laptop while having healthy meals and coffee and coffee-alternative drinks. Great place to meet friends as well, as meeting small project groups to work together. Service is always surprisingly pleasant. Music is not played loud. Color scheme is vibrant yet not obnoxious. Food is slightly expensive but quality. Hot sauce is in house made!

This place is the best! Great creative and healthy yet delicious food options. The banana oat cold brew is amazing! I was also super surprised at how delicious and big the acai bowl was. The space is also gorgeous and super cozy. Can’t wait to try more stuff here — just wish I lived closer!

I stopped in today to try the new Life Alive/Nobull smoothies. The staff was great and attentive. Very friendly. The vibe of the café was lovely and I would return. I enjoyed my smoothie, just like I always do.

Smoothies are so good!! Blue breeze was my favorite but the strawberry bliss was really good too. I also ordered the chili garlic noodles which weren’t bad. I added their sesame tofu to it for added protein as well. I’d love to come back and try their coffee and other smoothies as well soon! The inside is beautifully decorated, but it was nice enough that we were able to sit outside and enjoy.

I was a big fan of Life Alive in Cambridge and am thrilled to see it come to DC. In short, I like the restaurant and recommend it. The food is good, the servers are nice, and the ambience is lovely. It's a good spot both for getting a meal as well as grabbing a coffee and hanging out. Our favorite dish was the Golden Buddha bowl, particularly with the feta spinach fritters added. I was also a big fan of the Elvis smoothie, which mixes flavors of peanut butter, coconut, banana, and chocolate in a lovely blend. I enjoyed the Adventurer bowl as well, although it wasn't as good as I remembered in Cambridge. I think they used less sauce than ideal, so while tasty, it didn't have as much flavor as I remember it having before. Still, I'm very happy to see Life Alive in DC and look forward to going back to try more!

BEWARE: FOOD WITH A SIDE OF MOUTH PUNCTURE I wanted to like this place, I usually enjoy supporting places with vegan options, and I invited 3 friends for lunch. Halfway through my lunch, I felt as if my tooth had broken, and there it was, a side of a metal hook in my mouth. Concerned about the puncture in my mouth and for other patrons health and safety, I brought it to the management's attention, only to be told that " ....... the unexpected presence of a metal hook in your Rainbow Nori, was certainly not the experience we aim to deliver." I don't know about you, but I prefer my food safe and metal hook-free. Eat at your own risk.

I wish these were everywhere! Great options for anyone who likes to start their day healthier. Perfect spot for us no choice gluten free folks! I walked here from my hotel and was pleasantly surprised by just how great everything was. Normally in cities a lot of the "corner cafes" are chains, etc. which I do not like. Those places don't normally offer gluten free either. However, Life Alive is a gem! Truly. The Avocado Mousse was life changing and now I need to learn how to make it at home since I'm not local anymore. The juices are so fresh and a great pick me up for anyone who doesn't do caffeine. The servers were friendly and thoughtful. A rare find these days! The place is set up like a vintage diner and it's the cutest vibe. The colors are bright and cheerful.

Stopped in this morning and I was super impressed. I had the Tahini Date shake. I think it's the best smoothie I've ever had. I also had the Breakfast hash. This was also amazing. Great atmosphere too. I'll definitely be back!

I really liked this spot. Friendly, chill, floor to ceiling windows. Great organic foods. Nice energy. Prices are reasonable too. What's not to like. I hung out here to study and get some work done and can be happy they use quality gut-friendly ingredients. Would definitely come back.

The falafel sandwich was delicious! I did order a smoothie was well but I obviously chose incorrectly. It tasted like ice, was it appealing to the eyes yes but the flavor lacked. This was my very first visit & ironically the company emailed me about my experience and I told the truth. The smoothie was terrible, I loved the sandwich and the staff could've been much friendlier to me as they were to others. I truly appreciated how quickly they wanted to make things right. I came back and gave the place another try. I don't care for the beverages so I'll stick to the food!

I am surprised I hadn't written a review of this place because it's become one of my family's favorite places and we order it all the time. It is popular because it hits both "delicious" and "healthy" categories. I've tried a couple main dishes and like them all - the green goddess is what I typically get though. The smoothies are great too.

The inside is super cute with comfy couches and a beautiful orange vibe. Was in the mood for acai and got the PB & J acai bowl-- no notes.

We stopped by for a smoothie and decided to have lunch as well. The service was friendly and efficient. The cashier was knowledgeable and helpful, which was beneficial for narrowing down my order options. After placing the orders, the beverages and meals were served to our table within a reasonable time. Though I ordered the berry smoothie, we really wanted to try the blue spirulina smoothie. They were out of blue spirulina, so the berry smoothie was a good second option. It had the perfect consistency and flavor. Based on my understanding, all menu options are vegan. I was initially undecided about ordering the Mediterranean salad or the sesame noodles. I went with the first option and my daughter ordered the latter option. For this reason, I was able to try both. Both were good and I would order both again. The indoor ambiance was nice; however, the outdoor seating was also good. Since it was a beautiful day outside, we opted for the outdoor seating. The tables were clean and the outdoor area was clean overall. Good location for outdoor dining. I would return.

Finally a healthy spot with delicious, vegetarian food! So hard to find in D.C., especially in the West End. There's lots of seating, you'll see a flock of GW students! I've been back a handful of times, making my rounds and exploring the menu! The bowls and salads are pretty balanced and don't recommend adding extra protein or making veggie swaps, it throws off the flavors. There are over a dozen entrees to choose from with a full page of smoothie, iced tea, and caffeinated drinks. You can add a full side of protein (falafel, spinach feta fritters, mushroom shawarma, etc) for only $3.50. The Crispy Miso Carmalized Eggplant bowl is hands-down my favorite! The eggplant crispy and flavorful and paired well with the tofu and crispy rice. The Spinach Feta Fritters are bursting with flavor! They are crispy and super healthy with hidden chunks of broccoli. They pair well in the Green Goddess Bowl! The Mushroom Shawarma Bowl was delicious with lentils, cauliflower, crispy chick peas on a bed of hummus. The Mushroom Shawarma got a tangy flavor and all of the ingredients paired well. The Rainbow Bowl has a bold sweet potato flavor that adds a hint of sweetness. If you enjoy sweet potato, go for it! The Falafel has a nice crispy shell with a soft inside, but a bit dense. I was pretty stuffed after only eating 2 falafels. The pita is super fluffy. The Teriyaki Tofu Bowl was fun to try, but I wasn't a big fan of the tofu. While it had some good flavor and seasoned well, it was overcooked. Watermelon Cooler - Very refreshing, delicious juice! Tahini Date Shake - Tastes like a Snickerdoodle Cookie and refreshing on a warm day, it's a nice dessert! Iced Ocean Blue Latte - Super bland, tastes like watered down milk. The barista kindly let me swap it out for the Watermelon Cooler. Download the app, you'll score some freebies! I got a free Iced tea. Delicious food and excited to come to explore the menu and try more dishes and smoothies!

Went in on a whim while walking around the neighborhood. We were greeted warmly and explained how everything worked. This place is an interesting combination of a sit down restaurant and a café where are you order at the counter and serve your own coffee. The interior is rather quaint,, but cozy. The service was excellent, particularly from Mo who took great care of us during our meal. He explained everything in great detail and made sure we were as comfortable as possible. The breakfast tacos were light and fresh, and the salsa Verde elevated the flavor nicely. But I was a really big fan of the blue breeze smoothie, which came free after signing up their rewards program! Overall, it was a pleasant way to start the day during my DC trip . Recommend it greatly and will definitely be back to say hi to Mo!

An organic cafe implies a different set of expectations than a typical restaurant. This one has a snazzy downtown space. I was a bit disappointed to find that during breakfast hours you can't have most of their menu. Among the breakfast options, waffles were a good choice. Oddly, I think they were gluten free but not even (I think it's probably easier to make a waffle without eggs than without wheat). They came with blueberries both baked in and on the side, and just enough syrup, and it was a nice breakfast. A matcha took a while to arrive; they put it on a counter and neither called out a name nor delivered it to me, but eventually I noticed it and took it (a label with my name was there). I appreciated that there were at least some options for most diets, but I would have appreciated more customization to be available, more choices, and a bit more in terms of service. Maybe the lunch-dinner menu would impress me more.

I'm vegetarian, so I was excited when an organic veggie-forward cafe announced it was coming to DC. As far as the service is concerned, everyone who worked there was extremely nice and friendly. I got my food quickly. That being said, my bowl had 0 flavor beyond the ginger sauce poured conservatively on top. I didn't end up finishing up, because it was not enjoyable. The carrots and beets were undercooked and the rice was pretty watery. As for my smoothie, it lacked flavor or any sweetness at all. I got hints of pineapple and mango, but nothing else. I would go back if there are other menu items that are must-try. Beyond that, I am disappointed to say this wasn't the spot for me

So beautiful. Amazing cafe with delicious healthy options and creamy lattes. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the salads. Street parking is plentiful before 10:00 am.

You can eat a whole grain bowl without feeling guilty about it. Live Alive is enthusiastically a vegi-lover's paradise, and my safe eat-out option after oily and salty ramen earlier in the week. For lunch, I got the Miso Eggplant with Crispy Rice and a Strawberry Bliss Smoothie. The eggplant was piled on top of a bed of rice mixed with chewy tofu, oyster mushrooms and crunchy shards of carrots, purple cabbage, and broccoli. Don't worry, they don't make you eat hard rice. You can taste the sesame ginger sauce throughout. The caramelized miso eggplant was okay, a little chewy but still a good topping to the dish. The Strawberry Bliss was also nicely presented, though one of the most basic smoothies on the menu if you just want something fruity. A whole grain bowl was enough to make me satisfied. I came in during the weekday lunch hour and it was packed. Groups of all different sizes wanted to dine in. The staff appeared to do a good job keeping up with all the orders, which were a lot of food and drinks together! For those who plopped down with a laptop to do work it got noisy. I honestly really like the warm, orange color scheme.

The food here is always so fresh and healthy. They do a great job with portion size and pricing. I always feel great after eating at Life Alive. I don't want people to discover it because it feels like a hidden gem.

I love the concept of this restaurant! It was bustling at lunch time on a weekday. I'm very glad to see it succeed although the interior vibe felt too crowded around the entrance and takeout station. I ordered a chai smoothie and a teriyaki tofu bowl. The smoothie was good but not fully blended - there were a few large chunks of ice and banana at the bottom. The teriyaki tofu itself was delicious! The rice and vegetables in the bowl tasted like a microwave dinner, I think it was a lack of seasoning. Definitely best to make sure there is saucey tofu in each bite. There's room for improvement but overall I'm excited to come back and try more.

We were on our way to dinner and this place smelled so good that we decided to stop and eat there instead! I got the golden Buddha bowl which I really enjoyed as it had a lot of roasted vegetables. My friends got the miso crispy rice bowl which they didn't like as much as there was very little sauce and it was served cold and the peanut noodles which were good. The portion size was pretty big. Overall, a good spot for a heathy meal.

I like the location. I ended up meeting my cousin for a weekday lunch. I got warm Buddha bowl and it was pretty tasty. Overall. I liked it quite a bit. This is one of those places where you go for the vibe and outdoor seating. If the weather is good, which is what we did. They are barely a service station where you order what you want, go to the counter and then tell them and they will bring it out to you. But then you end up having to clear your your eating place and bringing dishes inside. So it's more like a fast food kind of place. Overall for the price it's okay. Parking is on the street. Overall, I'm glad I tried it. I don't think I would be in a rush to come back

I have become lowkey obsessed with Life Alive since they opened in DC recently. The food is so delicious, and I haven't had anything bad there (but my favs include the teriyaki bowl, the peanut noodles, and the tahini smoothie). The fact that it's all healthy (and all veg) is such a bonus. Also a cute and comfy spot to hang out. Their location isn't even in my neighborhood but it's worth commuting for!!

The smoothie and açaí bowl at Live Alive Organic Cafe were fresh and delicious. We saw an advertisement for this restaurant on the Metro and the Yelp reviews were all good. This cafe was perfect for a Sunday afternoon stop after a day of sightseeing in DC. I went with the PB power smoothie, which had protein powder so it kept me full for the rest of the afternoon. My husband went with a berry açaí bowl, which was somehow forgotten and we had to ask a few people for help when it had been a while with no bowl. All the fruit was fresh and delicious. I'd love to try more options at Live Alive.

@lifealivecafe is HERE at west end, washington, DC their menu features healthy grain bowls, salads, handhelds, noodles, soups & more I opted to taste the Miso Eggplant & Crispy Rice with caramelized miso eggplant with crispy rice, crispy sesame tofu, shiitake & oyster mushrooms, broccoli, shaved vegetables, scallions, cilantro & mint with brown rice and sesame ginger sauce --- it was just okay, not super flavorful and didn't exactly look like the photo of the dish they advertise online

Once again, one of the most delicious and hearty vegans wraps I've ever had. Sweet, savory, filling, everything! I can hardly wait for the grand opening so I can experience the service in person and checking the cute property.

Went to Life Alive with a friend and had a really great experience. We were greeted right away at the door -- the staff was super friendly and welcoming, which set a nice tone. The space is open and really cute, with a warm, relaxing vibe. I got the Watermelon Poke and my friend had the Golden Buddha bowl. Both were super fresh, tasty, and felt really healthy in the best way. We were really happy with the food. After eating, we ordered coffee -- my friend got the hazelnut latte and I went with caramel. Both were really good and hit the spot. There's a lot on the menu, so I'm already thinking about what to try next time. Overall, just a really solid spot with good vibes, good food, and great drinks.

I visited Life Alive Cafe soon after their initial grand opening. I really enjoyed the cafe seating/decor and was able to comfortably work with my laptop here. I could see it potentially being noisy or crowded on a weekend however a weekday morning was calm. All waitstaff were very kind and helpful in ordering/serving our order. I tried 2 smoothies as well as a grain bowl. The grain bowl with miso eggplant and tofu was not super flavorful which I was a bit disappointed by. However the smoothies were very tasty and had a thick consistency. This cafe was a great addition to the neighborhood if you are looking for a fast casual yet healthy option in the area.

I learned about this place from an instagram post from a popular DC social media influencer and her friend who is a reporter for the local NBC station. She posted a link inviting people to the weekend soft opening. I ordered the soil and sea ramen noodle dish, thinking the sea was for seafood. I found out afterwards that the sea means seaweed. Live and learn. I also ordered a green smoothie and a mushroom shawarma pita sandwich. Fast forward to the morning of the grand opening. I found street parking around 6:30 and was second in line. Got a tote bag and a nice wine colored baseball cap. I ordered a green egg and cheese sandwich, chocolate hazelnut acai bowl, tropical sunrise smoothie. It had me set for the day. I live in Maryland, working from home for now. If I am forced to return to the office each day I may become a regular customer and I hope this Boston based company considers adding more stores in the suburbs.

Really nice lunch spot! It's definitely on the healthier side and they have so many options like salads, smoothies and other bowls. I really love their shakes and signature sodas and their watermelon poke is awesome! The interior is super pretty too and feels like you're in Arizona or California. They seem to change their menu pretty frequently, so you will always have something new to try.

Good service. Clean cute ambiance. Food is Healthy & delicious. Freshly made food & drinks. I got the zucchini corn fritters & orange soda. My daughter got miso eggplant and raspberry mint tea. We will be back!

I love this place! I have been on 3 occasions now and it does not disappoint. Download the app so you can get a free smoothie (they are meals alone) with a purchase of any item. I have never dined it because it's always packed. It's just simpler to order it on the app, get your reward points and go pick it up. I hope this place stays around because it's great food, great price and great value because the servings are good portions.

Visited for the first time today and I'll be back on a regular basis. I couldn't decide which salad to choose because they all sounded so good, but the staff said the Mighty Greens was one of their most popular. I totally get it! It was delicious. It looked beautiful, the portion size was generous (I did not leave hungry), and the basil green goddess dressing was perfection. The spinach feta fritters were unique and very good. It was busy but I enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff were friendly and seemed well trained since this was day two of its opening. Excited to return and try many of the other menu items! Great addition to fast casual options downtown. Came back today and tried the Market Mediterranean Salad. Also delicious and plentiful.

this smoothie place ran out of straws and me and the random girlie next to me just paused and looked down at our smoothies we just picked up and looked at each other like we were on the office.

Menu offerings were terrific. It was hard to decide what to choose. As a result, I over ordered! Nonetheless, I finished the meal completely. Love the restaurant's concept, and the connection with Dr. Uma Naidoo.

Everything about this place is A+! Great service, excellent food, so grateful to have found LAOC. The egg sandwich with dill is one of my favs, it's all good tho, can't go wrong with anything from here. Thank you LAOC for offering organic, I value that.

I'm obsessed! I've probably had Life Alive every single week since it opened. It's fresh, healthy, and delicious. Highly recommend the Mexicali Tostada Salad (if you like spicy), Roasted Mushroom Shawarma, and Black Bean Soup. I'm slowly making my way through the menu and genuinely enjoyed everything I've had so far. Oh the Iced Ocean Blue is delicious and fun to drink, too. When else in your life can you drink blue milk?

This is my favorite lunch spot! I am not by any means obsessed with vegetables or organic foods only. I eat literally anything. I only eat sweetgreen because it's better for me versus me actually wanting to eat a salad there. Everything I have gotten thus far from life alive has been well put together, fresh, and most importantly, tasted great. It is also very well priced for the quality and volume you get. My lunch is routinely under $20 (even after standard tip). I like how they usually have a hearty component in their salads (spinach fritters, falafel, corn fritters for example). Always look forward to my in office days so I can grab lunch here!

We ordered through DoorDash and the tahini date shake arrived with a very large fly in it!!! it looks like it got stuck to the tape that was covering the hole of the smoothie. So we inspected the food orders we received and they looked fine, but the meal that I ordered, while initially tasty, gave me G.I. issues afterwards. For this reason while I had high hopes for this place, I will not be ordering from here again.

It can be difficult to find vegan food when I travel, so I was thrilled when my hotel was right across the street from this cafe. I ate here twice, and both times it was delicious. I love the interior too, and the staff was lovely. It'll be my go-to place when I'm in DC from now on!

This was such a pleasant find on a snowy afternoon, while visiting my daughter. Made for a memorable experience. Will make an effort to come back. The food was amazing . . . such an eclectic variety that it was hard to decide. Both of our dishes were fulfilling with extra to take back. Great prices and superb variety. very tasty, healthy food - I got the free smoothie with the app download and went with the tahini date shake based on recommendations - it was really great! Also the Mexicali taco salad - dressings were quite bright and the veggies were fresh. My only complaint is that I would have like more crispy tortilla with the salad but I guess then it would not be so healthy. I felt more virtuous from eating here :) The restaurant has a bright, airy feel to it and nice outdoor seating area.

This is a welcome sight in DC, which lacks healthy and vibrant options. The smoothies and coffee drinks are not only affordable, but also delicious. All the staff is super helpful and friendly. The breakfast taco was a pleasant surprise, and it's priced at only $3.50. Tacos typically run from $4-6 throughout DC, so being able to get something healthy but also affordable blew my mind.
