After a Google search for places to eat in Richmond, we discovered this gem, and we were not disappointed. The food is some of the best southern cuisine we've ever had. Each dish was perfectly balanced, with every component on the plate complementing the others.
We tried the short rib, which was tender, savory, and served in a generous portion. The fried chicken was also impressive—a large piece with just the right amount of sweet and spicy sauce. The grits with lobster were out of this world; this dish was one of the best we've ever tasted. We also enjoyed sides of creamed corn and collard greens.
The Brussels sprouts were a standout, with a deliciously sweet undertone to the flavors. We finished our meal with banana pudding and peach cobbler—both were excellent, though I would say they have a more mature flavor profile, as my children didn’t enjoy them as much.
Overall, I highly recommend this spot. My only complaint is that the waitress didn’t properly explain what was included with each dish. We ended up ordering sides we didn’t need, which led to wasted food and money. A little more guidance from the staff would have made a big difference.
The total for our meal was $150, plus the tip. While the bill could have been lower with better information, the food was absolutely worth every penny.
