"This market is open twice weekly from June through October — on Tuesdays in the morning and early afternoon, and on Thursdays in the evening — so every shopper has the chance of getting great, local fruits and veggies and mouthwatering homemade goods no matter your schedule. You can also partake in a slew of activities, from specialized kid programming to cooking demos to free yoga, all right by the Western L stop of the Brown Line. Eat some empanadas from the Empanada Bike or snack on small-batch cheese from Stamper Cheese." - Vox Creative

Perfectly sized for weekly visits to restock on tried and true favorites, this farmers' market is my favorite. It fits nicely within the surrounding neighborhood, offering a welcome respite from city traffic and noise. Great selection of fresh produce, baked goods, honeys, jams, and more from unfailingly friendly vendors.

My first time here today. Bought things from most venders. The focaccia bread is to die for. Brought it home, warmed it up in some olive oil and added a little butter, dipped it in the burgundy mushroom pasta sauce, which we also used with fresh pasta, ate some fresh cut up mango which was cut into the shape of a flower, bought delicious chicken, eggs and fruits. Can't wait to go back!

This farmers market has a lot of vendors, some with similar products. One vendor has homemade breads with great English muffins and bagels, but be mindful of the shelf life. I will be back for the English muffins. It is a little expensive, but keep in mind that these are local vendors with very fresh products.

one of my must do during the summer is get a Sugarbabe watermelon from the Lincoln Square Farmers Market. It's soooooo delicious, best watermelon ever. the donuts and nuts are also a must try. I initially bought the donuts because I was craving donuts and saw it there but these are so light and airy. I had mine with cinnamon and sugar. Munch those up in seconds. The roasted nuts you can smell from miles away and they are always so friendly offering u free baits lol i mean samples and once you try it, it's really hard to walk away not getting a bag kind of miss the old location

Yelp
For 2024, the market has moved to a different area to the lot by Old Town School of Folk. I actually like this location exponentially better than where it used to be. In fact, I only had ever been there once or twice before because the location was difficult for me to get to before they closed up for the evening. In 2024, I've been to the market three times since it opened month or so ago, which is more than I had been in the 15 years prior. There's a nice variety of booths here, from the plants, fruits, and veggies to some prepared foods. Vendors are all helpful and friendly. A favorite new find is the SnackLab, a company that makes a few items but their potato chips are the best--in particular the Rosemary Lemon flavor. This is the best flavor combo and hard to pass up! It's not my favorite of the farmers markets around; there are better ones in my opinion. But it's not bad and certainly worth it if in the area.

Yelp
The best way to spend your Saturday morning! My friends and I love to go here to get our fresh produce for the week! The vendors are extremely friendly and there are a plethora of stalls to choose produce from. My favorite food stall is Noble Fat which offers Filipino food. The chicken skewers are delicious, and the cucumber slices they come with are to die for! The market is usually packed so I recommend going early if you want the most options for your produce/other goods you might be purchasing.

Yelp
I've always loved farmer's markets. The one in Daley Plaza has some of the best deals on fresh cut flowers you can find in the city. But I just rode over to the Tuesday Lincoln Square market and came to the realization that if you live in this area there is absolutely no need to shop like this... I guess unless you feel strongly about overpaying for product to support the producer's lifestyle for political or social reasons. But that certainly isn't me. There is better and cheaper product all over the place. Wilted cilantro for $1 a tiny bunch? You can't drop a torta around here without it landing in front of a Mexican fresh market where the cilantro is crisp and massive and 3 for a buck on a bad day. Tiny potato and mushroom pierogi 10 for $8? Are you shitting me? Avondale is a 9 minute bike ride away where you can get it better, cheaper and made by an old lady wearing a house coat THE WAY PIEROGI SHOULD BE MADE! I guess it's a nice diversion for the cubicle bound or a date destination for the unimaginative but as a viable way to regularly acquire actual food? Ah hell no. I bought a few zucchini out of guilt, bad deal by the way and the dude seemed irritated I only had a twenty. But I made up for it by stopping in Horner Park on the way home for a massive cup of sliced mango, covered in lime and chili for $2. Now that's a tent under which food is sold I intended to continue to support.

Yelp
Now this is my kinda farmers market! Tons of fresh, green, organic options produced across the Lake Michigan sister states (IL, WI, IN, MI) all sold in one place! Check out their selection and variety: -Countless Seasonal and Locally-grown Vegetables & Fruits -Gorgeous Flowers (Sunflowers & Teddy Bear Flowers) -Cheeses -Jams & Preserves -Handcrafted Granola -Cage-free, Farm-fresh Eggs -Mushroom Varieties, plus Soy & Gluten-free Veggie Burger (River Valley Ranch from Burlington, WI) -Rolled & Flattened Pastas -Olive Oil Products (Soaps, Candles, Etc.) -Salsas, Hummus, and Gazpacho Soup (Salsas Vallarta off Elston) -Sweet and Savory Crepes (Flip Crepes) -Tasty Pastries (Delightful off Lawrence) -Soft Bread (Breadman Baking Co. from Naperville, IL) -Tomato Sauces (Tomato Mountain from Brooklyn, WI) -Organic Meats; Beef, Lamb, Veal, Pork, Goat (Mint Creek from Stelle, IL) -Cheese curds (Brunkow Cheese Co-Op from Darlington, WI) All this is accompanied with complimentary iced tea, iced coffee and hot coffee to cool you off or wake you up from our Austrian counterparts at Julius Meinl! Many of the tents accept the LINK Card as a form of payment which I had heard of but never thought would become a reality. (Well done Mayor Daley!) With markets like this one in Lincoln Square, now's the time to not only support local farmers/businesses, but also maintain your good health!

Yelp
At work we always stop by the farmers market on Tuesdays and pick up something - lately it's been blackberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries and peaches. The fruit is always fresh and ripe. I've yet to taste anything that wasn't ripe and very, very tasty. That seems to be the benefit over shopping for produce at your local supermarket - the goods at the Farmers Market are ready for consumption, unlike those green bananas that are common at the grocery store.

Yelp
Like most people, I find that Tuesday mornings are difficult for me to get out of bed...or get out of working. One or the other. But I was off, so I decided to stop by and see what the market was all about. The usual Midwest produce flowers eggs knife sharpening a local bakery and wait...whats that I see? A CREPE STAND?? So yes, the corn was good as well as the tomatoes but let me talk about crepes for a minute here. Savory and sweet? Check. DELICIOUS wheat crepes? Double check. Seriously awesome crepes from Flip Crepes. I'll certainly be coming back for more of those, and visiting them at the French Markets.

Yelp
Went to this farmers market (on a Thursday) for some blueberries. Stopped by Mick Klug Farm where they were priced at $6 for a carton. I handed the young lady my credit card and saw the following day she charged me $10 instead $6. I had to dispute things with my cc company. Completely unacceptable and dishonest. Do not shop at this stand unless you want to get overcharged!

Yelp
New to the neighborhood and enjoy going to this farmers market. It's small, but has a nice variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. The prices may be a little more here than usual, but it's good to chat with the people growing and raising what I'm eating.
google avatar

Nektaria R.

Yelp
I'll take some honey, some salad fixins, red potatoes, melons, salsa, strawberry preserves, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, lots of fresh veggies... oh man oh man, I should of brought two bags to fit all the stuff I found. OK, I'll take a plastic bag, I feel I shouldn't... It's bad for the environment. Next time I'll know. Bring two bags to lug all the loot. I think I'll be back again next week. I'll focus more on the fruits though. I ended up passing lots of sweet goodies for the healthy veggies. Plus, I only have two hands. :) They have baked goods like breads and pies and other natural stuff like soaps and candles. Got to check it out.

Yelp
This review is specifically for the Thursday evening farmers market. First off, I love the idea of a farmers market that I can go to on my way home as I don't get a chance that often to make it to one of the downtown markets during the work week. I also love that I don't have to shlep my haul on the crowded train; I can simply stop on my way home and it's walking distance back to my pad. As is typical of a farmers market, every week is different; you never know exactly what they'll have, but for me that's where the fun is. It forces me to try recipes and cook with whatever I pick up that day. Last night's bounty included some fragrant peaches that I will turn into a cobbler, some beautiful heirloom tomatoes that will be perfect for my Ravinia picnic this weekend, a loaf of foccacia bread, and some wild mushrooms that will make their way into risotto. There's also a stand from Angel Food Bakery; pizzas by nearby Pizza D.O.C., and crepes from Flip Crepes in addition to other vendors selling pies, organic meats and cheeses, and granola. Despite its small size, this farmers market packs a lot in the space. Looking forward to making this a Thursday night ritual!

Yelp
Small (compared to the Evanston Farmers Market) but totally adequate! The location is SO convenient, especially for the Thursday night markets. On your way home from work? Well, the market is right under the Western Brown line. You really don't have an excuse to not get your fruits and veggies anymore. Even though it was grey and cold today, all the vendors were cheerful. As was I, when I found a motherlode of apples. Hooray, the honeycrisps have returned! You'll find a good selection of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats, and delicious things in jars (delicious things in jars man also sells some really great mushrooms). Angel Food Bakery is there, peddling their delectable baked goods. You can even get a crepe made! This is definitely well-suited to the neighborhood, and I'll be making a weekly stop to shop (local!) for some delicious produce.

Yelp
I've been coming here a lot lately to stock up on fresh fruits and veggies, since it's a hop, skip and a jump away from where I work. Last week I went Thursday when I got out of work and this week I decided to go before work on Tuesday and let me tell you it doesn't disappoint no matter what day and time you go. This week I stocked up on: - beets - red lettuce - sweet corn - blueberries - raspberries - peaches All for around $20. They had a bread maker there too, so I asked him if he had any gluten-free breads and to my disappointment he said no, so that was a bummer. However, Stephanie from Angel Food Bakery on Montrose had some raw-some bars that were both vegan and gluten-free so I bought a few of them. Next week I'll have to spend a little bit more money and buy some fresh flowers for my apartment., since they have a decent selection. This has become my go to spot for all things fresh and will continue to attend this Farmer's Market until it closes down for the season.

Yelp
The Farmer's Market is on for this summer. Early Tuesday morning until 1PM. In it's usual location next to the Western Brown Line stop. I suspect we will also have the Thursday evening one here, too. Love the market, but I always have to shop here with the same degree of care and scrutiny I would at Whole Foods. Sometimes it's hard to find a good value here. I don't care how rural chic it is, I'm not one to pay $1.00 per stalk of rhubarb. And some of the other non-produce boutique items like cheeses, baked goods or my favorite, the $7.00 per pound pastas are just priced way out of line. The vendor called Lange Farms also has the worst produce I've ever seen. I swear they buy it at Stanleys and just re-sell it here. Big limp collection of greens fit for recycling to the bunnies on this visit. In the past, the produce I've bought from them has rotted very quickly. Take a pass. Of course it's early, not all the usual vendors are not here, and most of the selections of plants and flowers, fresh herbs, and the baked goods and other gourmet foods. At the moment, there are pretty good deals on fresh herb plants, fresh flowers (this guy always has good prices,) and at the west end, next to the el driveway, there a stand with very beautiful and large hanging flower baskets priced at $15 and $20. These would easily be almost twice and much in most local garden centers. I picked up some quality bedding plants which were just $1.50 each and some herb plants for $2.50. I know it will be awhile, but I just can't wait for summer tomatoes. Yee Haw!

Yelp
Call me selfish, but I take them down a star because they are on the most inconvenient day of the week for me. I just cannot get there on a Tuesday & that bugs the crap out of me. That's right I said I was selfish--deal with it ;-) Otherwise this is one STELLAR farmers market. They have it all folks: Meat Eggs Baked goods Fruit Veggies (one farmer has the biggest frigging Zucchini I have ever seen--serioulsy it bordered on the ridiculous!) Cheese Flowers Etc. The farmers are friendly, informative, and not at all pushy. They have a pride in what they sell and they should because it is delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by how big this market actually is & how much variety that was on display. Makes me wish I had Tuesdays off to spend in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the entire city. Parking can be a bit of an issue, but you can definitely take the L there as this market is located in the parking lot of the Western/Lincoln brown line stop. So, if ever you are in this hood on a Tuesday from 7-1pm June-October, treat yourself to some fresh produce here.

Yelp
Why do they start packing up and closing at 11:30 am, when they are supposed to stay open until 2 pm??? It's not MY fault I can't roll out of bed before noon! By the time I get up, have my Starbuckies, and head over to Lincoln Sqaure, all of the blueberries are gone and they are on their way back to Berrien Springs. Note: Same Problem at North/Center
google avatar

Yelp
In the triangle lot next to the Western Brown Line station. Every Tuesday from June through October. This is a great weekday Farmer's Market, for those of you who want to avoid the Saturday crush. Great mix of standard fruits and vegetables, along with fresh flowers, bread and pies, coffee, granola, and Illinois beef. A few big marketers, such as Seedling Fruit, and some nice surprises, such as specialty peppers. It's small enough not to be overwhelming, but has a good mix of produce. Very friendly and helpful marketers!

Yelp
When and Where (June-October) Lincoln/Leland/Western (4700 N - 2400 W) City Parking Lot adjacent to Brown Line Station Tuesdays June 10-October 28, 2008 I love this market. Huge selection, great prices and fun people watching. Such variety-make sure you take a walk through to check out the pricing and quality which differs from stand to stand. Get there early and you can watch the old ladies haggle over prices just like they did in the old country! One booth sells fancy cheese-the "butter cheese" make the greatest grilled cheese ever. I am looking forward to fall when the Honey Crisp apples return! Come October they have pumpkins, decorative gourds, etc.

Yelp
I love this market, mostly because my two favorite vendors provide almost more than I can carry home. First of all, if you prefer organic foods, you can go to Peasant's Plot. They aren't certified organic yet, but they don't use pesticides and are a CSA. They're filled up for this year, but I intend to sign up next year. There are some things only CSA members get. For example, this morning I saw some truly marvelous gigantic garlic but they were CSA only. (sad face!) They have individual memberships and people who pick up their groceries on bikes, so if you are a single person, I would definitely consider them for membership. If you like to cook with mushrooms, head on over to River Valley Kitchens. They have fresh Shitake, White, and other varieties. Even better, you can get frozen mushroom burgers (portabello and black beans), their stuffed ravioli (your choice of butternut squash, portabello or I think asparagus), a steak sauce (they are planning to rename it) that has portabello and wasabe that is great on just about anything, various small batch, freshly made granolas, and various salsa and pasta sauces, made in small batches with yum, portabello in it. I've also picked up some gorgeous orchids, fresh herbs, and there is a knife sharpener there as well. I've not tried it, but Breadman is there as are some other baked goods vendors. The Tuesday Morning Farmer's Market is sponsored by the City of Chicago, which usually promoted by the Alderman, and the Thursday Evening Farmer's Market is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Not all the same vendors are there on both days of the week, but if mushrooms are your thing, then you are in luck on both days.

Yelp
I came to this awesome farmers market this early afternoon on this fine sunny September day. My goodness there is a large selection at this market! Eye spy with my big green eyes: Corn, potatoes, squash, tomatoes, carrots, parsnips, romaine lettuce, beets, radishes, pumpkins, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and the occasional eggplant. They also have other treats for your body...like all-natural soaps, scrubs, and other fancy things. And if you are in the mood for some packaged goods you can always take a gander at their jarred goodies, baked goodies, and their sweet treats.

Yelp
I've been going to the Farmers Market for years!!!! Do I come here for fresh veggies? YES! Do I come here because it's a block away? YES! Why else do I come here?? TO PICK UP WOMEN!! It's so easy for me!! All you have to do is walk around and browse and make small talk like "hey those are some big cucumbers!!" Or "you look like you're making something good for dinner tonight? Can I come?" Or "i like your tomatoes" Women always laugh and I walk away with veggies for the week and a few dates!!! Gotta love the Farmers market........the local pickup spot!!! SCORE!!!!

Yelp
I go gaga for fresh vegetables. I drool over the berries. My tongue hangs low and down to the sidewalk for the goodies from Marilyn's Bakery. Life is better when I can go to the Lincoln Square Farmer's Market. But seriously, folks -- I've been going to this market for years, every Tuesday morning during the season. Now they've expanded to Thursday afternoon/evening. Thank you, great lords of the market! Now, if I forget corn on Tuesday, I can get it on Thursday. This is not a huge market. It is in the city parking lot next to the Western El station. But it is fairly complete. Any in-season fruit or vegetable I want, I can get it here. And that's all I care about. I do like the flower vendor here. He seems very knowledgeable, he always lets you know how long you can expect his blooms to last, and he always gives you some plant food. Marilyn's Bakery from Hobart, Indiana, is represented here. Gentle readers, I am a native of Northwest Indiana. On occasion, I visit the headquarters of Marilyn's Bakery in Hobart, Indiana. Oh my God, this stuff is good. I am very happy that I don't have to drive 50 miles one way to get the peach cobbler. And Marilyn's gets their fruit from their next-door neighbor, Johnson's Farm Market, so they offer seasonal selections. Go now, and get a cobbler. You will thank me. I must inform you, gentle reader, that I do not go to market to buy soaps or bread. I cannot help you there. You are on your own. I see that some other reviewers have complained about things like Pizza D.O.C. selling at the Thursday night market. What care I? I went last night and got more raspberries and corn. As long as I get my farm-fresh goods, what do I care that other people buy prepared food? And Thursday night is when the concerts happen in Giddings Plaza. If someone wants to get pizza and watch the concert, it's no skin off my nose. Lighten up, folks! Gather ye berries while ye may. The season is WAY too short.

Yelp
It was a dreary rainy Tuesday in Lincoln Square, but the Farmer's Market radiated sunshine and I walked by with my umbrella and Yelp grocery bag (shut up). It's early in the season so the selection isn't that great yet, but I made out with a couple of bunches of asparagus, strawberries and some fresh salsa (tomatillo and habanero). Lots of other stuff like flowers and herbs you can grow at home, lots of breads and cheese, and lots of stuff made of mushrooms: giardiniera, pasta sauce, pickled mushrooms. I'm going to make this a weekly thing since it's walking distance to my place, just off of the Western Ave. Brown Line stop on Lincoln Ave. I must have spent about $30 without even thinking about it. Also, bring your grocery bag!
google avatar

Yelp
As far as weekday farmer's markets go, this one is pretty great... at least to the average cook. The market is located just south of Lincoln Square on Leland and Lincoln (next to the Western Ave. Brown line). It takes up the whole parking lot and has a pretty decent selection. If you are running your own gourmet restaurant, it may not be to your liking or have everything you need, but for the average, everyday chef just looking for a few fresh ingredients for dinner or some specialty spices or jams, it's a great little spot! Street parking in the area is pretty plentiful this time of day/week (Tuesday mornings), but it's also a great walk if you live in the immediate area. It doesn't ever get too crowded (it is Tuesday morning after all) so you never feel rushed or pushed around. If you are driving by or have a Tuesday off, stop by and look around, it's really quaint and cute!

Yelp
Allow me to introduce you to the reason why I now look forward to Tuesday mornings.... The Lincoln Square Farmers Market is a hidden gem! Ok, maybe not SO hidden in that it's right at the corner of Lincoln and Western, in the parking lot next to the Western Brown Line stop. Still, I somehow managed to be totally unaware of this Market till just a few weeks ago. The first couple weeks didn't blow me away, but since then there are more stands, greater variety of products, and a most festive atmosphere (a late harvest contributed to this, I'm sure). You'll find farmers from Central and Southern IL, as well as MI and IN. Prices are pretty consistent throughout, but it's worth taking a pass through all the stands first. In addition to a truly astounding variety of produce, you'll also find some baked goods, natural products like soap, honey, jams, etc. AAAAND, my very favorite thing: flowers! There is a great flower stand with $4 bouquets that really last. I pick up at least one each week and by the following Tuesday it's still going for a couple more days. They have the same selection weekly- sunflowers, snapdragons, gladiolas, zinnias, Asiatic lilies. The zinnias are especially pretty and hardy. I now plan my weekly menu on Tuesdays, based on what I find at the Market. The only thing that would make this better was if the Lincoln Meat Market on the corner was open in the morning and I could pick some things up there, too. Must check this out.

Yelp
This is one reason why i love living in lincoln square. I get off the el and I can get all my veggie/fruit shopping and meat shopping done in 15 minutes. The Tuesday morning market is the larger of the two but I will take fresh veggies where I can get em. The vendors are really nice and I have gotten to know a few of em pretty well since I see em once a week. The Bison meat at C&D farms is my favorite. If you want the Bison try to get there on Tuesday as it is often sold out by the time Thursday afternoon rolls around. Thanks Lincoln Square for an awesome market.

Yelp
Great but small farmer's market! It is always easy to find parking in Lincoln Square, and I came before 8 am so could park on Lincoln Ave. for free. Oh goodness, let's see, what did they have....there were two large vendors of fresh vegetables, a few smaller ones with fresh fruit, one or two vendors of fresh pastry and bread, flowers, a cheese stand, some jams/salsas/sauces....that's all I can remember! I got a beautiful, seed-rich, dense whole grain bread from the bread dude, some lovely peaches and blueberries that I'm nomming like crazy this week, gorgeous tomatoes, abundant squash, and this lovely red kale that a farmer lady recommended to me. I love asking the farmers what is best because they pretty much know best, don't they? Just shop here. Do it for yourself and for the farmers. The seasonal produce is wonderful, and they have a great selection. Stop asking for strawberries in August and tomatoes in April. Part of the beauty is just going to the market and learning about the growing seasons of your favorite foods! Shopping at the farmer's market *can* be incredibly cheap - things like squash they practically give away. I understand some of it is a little pricier than the grocery stores but I can guarantee you it will taste twice as good and last twice as long. The peaches i got the other day were picked 12 hours before. You cannot beat that. How many times have you brought something home from a grocery store and it started going bad in a day or two? That won't happen here. This isn't the closest farmer's market to my apartment, but if I need fresh produce on an "off" day from my local market, I will hop up north and pay them a visit! Farmer's markets are the best part of summer.

Yelp
I like to shop farmers markets and am so pleased with the one closest to my home! Holding the market two times a week at alternate hours is brilliant. The farmers here bring really quality produce. I walk the market first and peruse all offerings before buying anything. It is a quick walk and worth it to compare quality and prices. Regarding prices, I know from one vendor they assess product prices against one another so there isn't too great a variance on any item. I will buy broccoli from one vendor and tomatoes from other, mainly based on quality. There is a mushroom guy that turned me on to crimini mushrooms over white buttons and I really appreciated his advice. The crimini have a wonderful, earthy depth of flavor and saute' so nicely. I can't speak to the prepared foods that are here as I avoid them.
google avatar

Keith A.

Yelp
This is 3.5 for me, but it leans to the higher side. Even though I stopped by here around noon, there was still plenty to choose from. It isn't the biggest farmer's market, but the quality was very good. I was able to get a whole lot of crimini mushrooms for a great price (amongst other things). It is a smaller farmer's market, but the selection was very diverse. It's only at places like these that I can get garlic of this quality and this variety of vegetables and fruits for great prices. The prices are great as well. This time I was able to load up on a bunch of stuff and ended up only paying like $40 across all vendors. I wish I was off more on tuesdays to take advantage of this farmers market. When I do have a tuesday off and the mood strikes me, this is an enjoyable one to hit up.

Yelp
Love the Lincoln Square farmer's market....I stop off there in the mornings off the brown line. The River Valley Mushroom Farms booth/tent is the best thing ever. Everything they sell there is right on the money. The artichoke dip and garlic cheese spread are both completely off the hook. I could eat the cheese spread baked on bread every day of the week. The Pasta sauce and pesto are both really good as well. I always stock up right before winter and the product can hold a really long time the way it's jarred.

Yelp
The Lincoln Square Farmers Market is one of the city's better green markets. A nice selection at competitive prices, from friendly merchants and farmers throughout the region, with products ranging from perishables to households. Plenty of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and so on. Runs every year, summer through fall on Tuesdays, I believe. Gets fairly busy at different points of the season, depending on the weather and time. A great alternative for northsiders who want to avoid the trek to Green City Market. Just off the CTA Brown Line.

Yelp
just right. this is definitely a humble farmer's market in comparison to evanston on saturdays or green city. The prices are better, and it's small enough that none of the the stands selling similar produce will have wildly different prices for the same product. two bakeries are usually in attendance on of which sells an excellent walnut golden raisin pumpernickel. the veggies people are crazy friendly, and the fruit people are a little off-putting in their pretense. The mushroom man is the best.

Yelp
Things to NOT MISS at the Lincoln Square Farmers Market: -The Cheese Guys... there are often two cheese booths... on with great buttercase cheese and one with melting cheese... both are worth all your money. -The Pie Guy... There should be a home-made pie guy on every street corner, Until that bill becomes a law, visit this nice guy from Michigan. Rhubarb, peach, blueberry, crumbles... they are always great! -The Crepe Guys - These two french guys will make you sweet or savory crepes while you wait. YES! -AND of course all the produce is fresh, delicious, and abundant. This is a very populated farmers market and there is rarely a weak booth. This is almost as fun as the Oak Park farmers market.

Yelp
( this is for Tuesdays, I have yet to go Thursday evening) the farmers market for me is what shoe shopping is for others. I get an adrenaline rush as i move from one farmers booth to another, comparing quality and prices. and most of it looks so darn good. most of it is generally local, and some of it is homegrown, pesticide free. you can find some really amazing deals on things like eggplant, cucumber and peppers, and it is fun to see new produce at the farmers stand, as different crops move into season. I am seriously a farmers market junkie. I just can't get enough. I leave with my bags overflowing with fifty pounds of vegetables, wondering how on earth I will get home. the cons: they do pack up and sell out of certain things early, and it would be nice if there was more organic produce.

Yelp
I live in between Andersonville and Lincoln Square, so this is one of my regular farmers markets. The farmers market scene in Chicago is not what I'm used to. I grew up in Madison, with an enormous farmers market every Saturday morning around the Capitol Square. Chicago farmers markets have few stands and limited hours. Weekday morning? Only over the summer when I'm not working. I'm glad for the Thursday evening time otherwise. However, this farmers market has a good selection. We get most of our veggies from our CSA, so I only use the farmers markets to fill in some egregious gaps (like mushrooms, or fruit) and for eggs and meat. I can find what I want, and although it's not always cheap...ok, which dozen eggs would you rather spend over $5 for? The faux-cage free kind at Dominicks shipped from who-knows-where, or the real cage free, happy chickens, from northern Indiana? No contest, if I'm going to drop money on good food, it's going to be actual, real, local good food. All of the vendors are really nice, too. The market also accepts LINK cards, which I think it awesome although it doesn't affect me personally. It's good for markets like this to be accessible for everyone.

Yelp
Ah... I miss it already. Can't wait for the summer so I can get my cheese and croissant fix in the am. Their blueberries are amazing as well. Definitely a great spot to buy some healthy delicious snacks for your music in the park outing a few blocks south at Welles park.

Yelp
I drive by this farmer's market every Tuesday on my way to work. I always mean to stop but haven't till today. Despite not being on the weekend, there is a good number of venders and a diverse mix of goods like John B. said in his review. The pricecs are on scale with the other farmer's market that I have been to. I picked up a currant scone for breakfest which is awesome! It beats Starbucks any day. If you are in the area, definently stop by. The quality of the produce here beats Jewel anyday.

Yelp
I love my little neighborhood farmer's market. It usually has a good selection and a little bit of everything: fruits, vegetables, flowers, baked goods, cheese, eggs, meat. Like most farmer's markets, the offerings and prices can differ week to week, but I love paying a visit if I can. I basically watch the seasons change based on what is being offered week to week at the market. The vendors tend to be friendly and happy to chat, and, despite what some other reviews have said, I am usually able to find some good deals.

Yelp
Small, but packs a punch. Great tomato & herb plants for the garden, better than at any other spring/summer market. Beautiful flowers, breads, etc. Can't wait for warmer weather!

Yelp
The cheese lady who sells 3 cheeses - cheddar, butterkase, and swiss cheese - she sells the butterkase for $6 and at Gene's the same size sells for about $4.80 The cooked cheese stand where you can sample cheese spreads and smoked cheese --- ALL SELLS AT WHOLEFOODS for less!!! The hummus stand is tasteless and watered down. The bread "imported from France" - really? Who wants day old bread? And who needs to import dough...for the markup??

Yelp
I would love to visit this market more often but Tuesday morning is just not a good time for me.

Yelp
Nice way to hang in the area and buy directly from the farmers and local small business. I enjoy going locally and it feels more European like vs big box stores. Check it out and hang in Lincoln Square.

Yelp
This review is for the Thursday evening market. I was so excited for this market since I've never been to the Tuesday morning one (day job). What a disappointment! I'm not sure if the Tue. one is bigger, but the selection here was seriously lacking. I thought it was going to be crowded as heck, but at 6pm, it was pretty empty. Was this because folks were still on their way home from work or because there was barely anything to buy?! Anyway, got some good strawberries and jars of spicy hot mushrooms & gardenia (highly recommend - I put them on/in everything - pizza, pasta salad etc.) Good to know that Pizza D.O.C. grows its pizzas locally - I hear pizza farming is the next big thing. I'm not saying the Square restaurants shouldn't promote themselves but....Hey Lincoln Square!...how about you get some farmers at your farmer's market!
