Showy nightlife spot with opulent, Vegas-style decor, drag performances, creative eats & cocktails.
"Glitzy Vegas-style drag destination Lips — an outpost of New York drag performer Yvonne Lame’s drag-show-and-dinner mini-chain — is a sure-fire option for verve and eleganza. There’s also a menu of familiar dishes like pasta and burgers, plus fun drinks ranging in size from shots to 20-ounce cocktails served in a leg-shaped vessel clad in a fishnet stocking and heel that patrons get to keep." - Ashok Selvam
"Lips is a drag bar and restaurant in the South Loop that’s technically been open for two years, but were closed for 18 months of that thanks to the pandemic. This week they’re celebrating their two-year anniversary and their reopening with some new acts and events. Like Bitchy Bingo, which (starting this week) is every Wednesday at 7pm, bottomless gospel Sunday brunch, and more. Make reservations here. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

"Lips Chicago is a new Vegas-style drag restaurant that promises an over-the-top experience with fierce queens, strong drinks, and more. The 8,000 square-foot space is vibrant with bright colors, shimmering disco balls, and crystal chandeliers. It features a wide stage and spacious aisles for performers, seating for 174 guests at various spots including tables and bar stools. The menu, crafted by Tom J. Schmidt, includes appetizers like elote corn fritters and calamari, entrees such as shrimp fettuccine alfredo and flat-iron chicken, and a variety of cocktails and specialty shots. Lips Chicago also offers prix fixe dinner-and-a-show packages and a 'Dragalicious Gospel Brunch.'" - Naomi Waxman
"June has passed, but soon Chicagoans will be able to bask in that fierce Pride energy all year round at a popular drag restaurant and performance venue’s forthcoming location on the Near South Side. Mini-chain Lips is slated to open in late summer at 2229 S. Michigan Avenue. Local queens Mimi Marks, Mz. Ruff N’ Stuff and Angel LeBare will host a grand opening weekend starting Friday, August 23. Touted as the 'ultimate in drag dining,' Lips Chicago will be all about opulence. Four eight-foot crystal chandeliers will dangle overhead, offsetting pink leopard tufted walls, velvet curtains, and a bevy of bejeweled mirrors. The venue’s stage features a throne — the performers are queens, after all. The 8,000 square-foot space seats 174, so diners should expect a crowd." - Naomi Waxman
