Southern Nevada Health District closes five restaurants - Eater Vegas

"The Southern Nevada Health District shut down Little Dumpling at 6430 Sky Pointe Drive after a customer complained about cockroaches in the dining room on Sept. 27. Inspectors found multi-generational, multi-species cockroaches in the kitchen as well and closed the restaurant for the imminent health hazard. Other violations included a buildup of old food and grease In the kitchen and dining room, and dirty woks, walls, and ceilings, as well as old food on a can opener blade, peanut spoon, and cutting board. The inspection also revealed spider webs in the refrigeration units and dry storage shelves. The restaurant stored crispy wontons and fried chicken in grocery store plastic bags and mixed used bamboo skewers with new ones. Mold was found in the ice machine, while food in the fridge was left uncovered and subject to contamination. The restaurant returned to a zero-demerit A grade on Sept. 30. The health department previously closed the restaurant in 2005." - Susan Stapleton

The worst thing I can say is that the Orange Chicken isn't as orange as I'd like, but it's still sweet. The Pad Thai,Fried Rice, all soups, all meat Pork/Chicken/Beef/Shrimp/Egg combinations for their dishes, are really damn good. IMPORTANT: They will make almost any dish deadly spicy if you want, even the soups(If you're the same kind of stupid that I am). They say the scale goes to "10" but you can tell them "20+++" or whatever. They are almost always faster than the delivery ETA, and it's always hot upon arrival.

This place is delightful and an excellent value! Most people seem to take their food to-go, but the service in the tiny dining room was excellent and the woman running the front of house was friendly and efficient. The food was great, I had the Pad See Oew with beef (which is a Non-spicy version of "Drunken Noodles) and my sister went vegetarian with the bean curd. My wife opted for Orange Chicken (even the small size was a lot of food). For drinks, the iced tea includes refills, but soda comes in cans.

I love this place! Me and my boyfriend have both been coming here for a few years, my boyfriend since 2019. Food wise its the best iv tried in the entire area its always so good and this is my #1 place to get Thai Teas!. The service is very nice everyone there is so sweet and personable. Its family owned so theres a different and calmer atmosphere the service creates and its something i prefer 100% over a chain or ‘gourmet’ restraunt. The inside is also very nice, always quiet and clean. Overall a wonderful place to stop by for a quick lunch or a family dinner.

Me and my spouse came here after a very long tiring day absolutely STARVING. I didn’t catch the servers name this was 2/8 around 7/7:30PM she was so sweet and kind and made ordering painless. We get home and the food is Amazing! We got four different items on the menu and they are all delicious. This was my first time here and I’ll be coming back frequently. Great service. Great food. FAST.

Google
FIRST AND LAST TIME! The worse food!! I DON'T recommend!! I spent way to much on this food and NOT worth a penny! Pad Thai noodles over cooked and had a very strong sweet and sour taste to it. The chicken satay peanut sauce was yellow, watery and tasted spoiled!! Not sure why the teriyaki chicken on the stick had a weird texture and was green??? Shrimp fried rice was horrible way to much soy sauce. Very disappointed that I paid so much money for such horrible food.

Google
It had been a few years since we ordered from Little Dumpling and their food is still delicious! Their cooks never disappoint. The lady who took our order was really nice and helpful. Delivery driver got here so quick that our food was still steaming hot. He was friendly and personable too.

Google
This was my first time and I was shocked because the food is actually great! The prices aren't bad and the proportions are huge! I'm a picky eater and i still liked everything we ordered. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
The Good: Very friendly staff and the restaurant is clean. That's 2 stars. The Bad: Kung Pao Chicken: Spice Lv 10: Chicken tasted off, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, but the baby corn ruined the flavor profile of the entire dish. Everything, except the chicken, tasted like baby corn. Not spicy at all and not enjoyable. Spicy Noodle w/ Pork: Spice Lv 10: Terribly bland. The entire dish tasted like greasy noodles. I don't even know if they put the pork in there to be honest. Egg/spring roll: Traditional frozen rolls featuring ginger, veggie mush, ginger, and even more ginger. Nobody I know likes these rolls, but lots of Chinese Restaurant love to put them on the menu. Hot and Sour Soup: Soup was really good, except for the freezer burned meat.

Yelp
There food is always made fresh and even with the phone constantly ringing with pick up and to go orders. The server took great care of us inbetween calls.

Yelp
This review has been a long time coming and what a better time to do it then now. I see all the old negative feedback people have put since they were on dirty dining years back. I've never had a bad experience here and I feel like it's even better these days. I've been coming here for 7 plus years and will say the food is always consistent for me. They still keep their prices low compared to so many other places I've tried like this but I still end up making the drive to eat here because of the taste, price and amount of food they give you. We always get good service and the place is nostalgic for us even though it could use a good face lift but I guess that's how they can keep prices low still so I am not going to complain on that too much. They only change that they have now beside a little price increase because of the cartoon world we are living through with the government rising costs on us all is that, if you pay with a card there will be a 3.5% fee so I always remember to bring cash so I can enjoy paying the lower cost. My Wife kids and I will continue to come here because we do enjoy the flavor and amount of food we all get for the 6 of us and I don't even pay over $40 to keep us full and happy. I hope people will read this review and keep those negative ones out of their minds from 3-8 years ago. Give it a try if you like some good Chinese food for a good price.

Yelp
Honey walnut shrimp is really lemon walnut shrimp. But they sure came with lots of shrimp 16-20 count per pound. But I didn't care for the soup either hot and sour or corn. Nice small Chinese mom and pops place... clearly not a Thai place so I think skipping Thai is the right call.

Yelp
Decided to try this restaurant since our regular asian restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. Seated ourselves and soon was greeted and provided menus. Friendly service although they were busy with take out orders. Menu has a large selection of items. We tried the Won Ton soup, sesame chicken and Hong Kong noodles which were all good and we had enough left over for next day's lunch.

Yelp
Always friends, professional, welcoming and clean. I love this hidden gem. We have been coming for years. Good food, generous portions and good pricing.

Yelp
We got delivery from here last night for the first time. It was easy to order and delivered on time by a nice gentleman. We ordered the Crab Rangoon which were a little dense/heavy but crispy. There were 8 pieces and it came with a sauce. My main was the Kra Prow (spicy basil) with chicken and it was really good. Mine was packed with spicy chicken and enough for two meals for me. Yum! My spouse got the Hong Kong pan fried noodles. The noodles were nice and crispy but the shrimp was a little fishy. The protein in this dish was a little lacking too. Since our order was over $20 we got to choose a free item and we chose the two egg rolls. That was a nice treat! They only deliver within 6 miles of the restaurant, there is a $6 delivery fee, and a fee to pay with a credit card. I really enjoyed my main dish but my spouse would choose a different dish next time.

Yelp
My son and I enjoyed the food and service. The orange chicken was crispy. Always welcome!

Yelp
First time trying this place as good Chinese food can be hard to find. What a gem this place is! We ordered a variety of dishes to try and they did not disappoint. From their fried rice, to seafood, noodle and poultry dishes, everything tasted great! The prices are very reasonable and they have good portion sizes in my opinion. Give this place a try and support this local business!

Yelp
This was a last resort thing, was super hungry last night and it was the only thing open in that area. We got one of the family dinner options, for the entrees it was the shrimp with lobster sauce, and kung pao shrimp. If you like getting food poisoning this is the place for you! My husband was throwing up all night and woke up with a fever this morning from eating the shrimp with lobster sauce. I had no issue with the fried rice that came with it, it was a combination rice that had shrimp, pork, and chicken it was pretty good but it was very dry. The kung pao shrimp I did advise them that I didn't want it super spicy and it killed my stomach aftet eating it, on top of it I did tell the guy before ordering "ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS" and I found some peanuts in the food .... Had a little bit of an reaction of my throat swelling up and could not breathe. I was unable to sleep last night because of it, and was up all night in a lot of pain. The ambiance was very boring, just looked like a bunch of old furniture, the booths were extremely uncomfortable as well. Nobody was in there but just the coworkers. The food took less than 10 minutes to make which the guy at the counter said 20 minutes. Overall WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AFTER THE EXPERIENCE ME AND MY HUSBAND HAD!

Yelp
The last few times we ordered from this place was terrible. Chicken low mean was mushy. Beef and broccoli should be broccoli and beef.

Yelp
Found this little place while looking for a new restaurant to go to. Food is always amazing and fresh. Staff is helpful and courteous. We eat in house which they have a small dining room. We will for sure be back
google avatar

Katricia K.

Yelp
Horrible food! The fried rice was old and overcooked. The orange chicken was old, too, and was lacking orange sauce. Had a burnt taste to it. The crab Rangoon was yellow on the inside, and the egg rolls were soft on the outside. Why is this place still open? I feel like calling the health department on them. There has to be violations going on there somewhere.

Melissa J.

Yelp
Never let's me down. My personal favorites...hot and sour soup, salt and pepper pork/fish, crunchy chicken. Love, love, love this place. Can't go wrong with anything.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
Horrible Thai food. Pad Thai was too sour, tasted like they just added ketchup instead of tamarind sauce. It was unusually red. I ended up throwing it away. Penang curry was tasteless and had the consistency of canned cream of mushroom soup. The fried rice was a joke too. Yes, the lunch special prices are cheap for 2022 ($7-8 a dish), but if it's inedible what's the point? The only good thing were the fortune cookies!
google avatar

Yelp
Small quaint restaurant on the North side of town. I would stop by here if I wanted something quick. I've had the BBQ Pork and Pork Bun. The BBQ Pork was inconsistent. Some days it was tender and some it was a bit hard. The Pork Bun was good. Soft and good flavor pork. Overall, great place for a quick lunch.

Yelp
This review is long overdue. We have been going to little dumpling for pad Thai off and on for many years. Their portions are very generous and prices are amazing for their lunch specials. They are in the strip mall next to a Vons sorta hidden. It's a hidden gem in Las Vegas.

Charlie B.

Yelp
I love the lunch special menu. The Chinese food is always tasty, filling and well priced. Henry handles all the food orders and he is always helpful, friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I love their egg drop soup . And they are really fast on getting your food ready . Will keep coming again

Yelp
I haven't had Thai food in a while. My family and I wanted to go to a restaurant that we haven't tried in awhile and so we selected Little Dumpling. We arrived for dinner around 5:00 P.M on a Tuesday evening. The place was empty. You walk in and there is a mixture of booths and tables that you can select from. It was choose your own seating, so we ended up selecting a booth near the register. We sat down and were provided menus. The food at Little Dumpling is a mixture of Thai and Chinese food. We ended up selecting the following off of the Menu 1 Small Orange Chicken 1 Mapo Tofu 1 Pad Woonsen with a side of rice They brought crispy wontons strips to the table, on the house. There was sweet n sour sauce at the table. We nibbled on those while waiting for our entrees. It took about 10 minutes for the food to come out. The Orange Chicken was quite satisfying. It wasn't too crispy and there was a good amount of chicken to each bite. The Mapo Tofu wasn't too spicy and there was a large amount provided. The Pad Woonsen consisted of a mix of vegetables, thin noodles, and chicken. My daughter loved the Pad Woonsen. I didn't particular care for the taste. It was relatively plain. The chicken inside the Pad Woonsen was good though. Flavored and grilled, not fried. I would come and do sit down eating at this restaurant again. There seemed to be really good lunch specials as well at $6.50 from 11-3. Our bill was under $30.00 eating at dinner time. Good price for the amount of portions provided at dinner. Customer service here was great too! We were asked if we needed a refill on our drinks at least once.

Yelp
During one of our lunch breaks, a few of us were able to have a quick lunch at Little Dumpling. My supervisor mentioned that they have pretty good lunch specials that are quite affordable, which won me over quickly. Little Dumpling is a small mom and pop shop that serves up Thai and Chinese dishes at affordable prices. Little Dumpling is located in a pretty big plaza with plenty of parking - restaurant was quite empty when we stopped by, with only a few other customers taking over some booths. While they have both Thai and Chinese dishes, they also offer family dinner specials, which I thought was a good idea if you're too busy to cook. We all stuck with ordering from the lunch special menu. Dishes are only $6.50 each, and comes with an egg roll and your choice of hot and sour soup or egg flower soup. (And if you order an entrée dish, you have the option of fried rice or steamed rice.) I went with the pad see oew (wide rice noodles stir-fried with beef - you can pick from beef/chicken/pork/tofu - broccoli, egg, and soy sauce). This is very similar to the Chinese beef chow fun noodles, and I have to say that the taste was very similar as well. Dish was pretty huge for only $6.50. I thought the overall dish tasted very good - there was enough "wok hei", which had the flavors sing out. Good amounts of beef cooked into the dish, but I really liked the bamboo shoots tossed throughout, giving it a different texture and taste. Since I'm a fan of chow fun, I liked Little Dumpling's take on it with the pad see oew. Egg roll was nothing too special - crispy on the outside and good flavor on the inside. Make sure to eat them quickly or else they become soggy. They also provided fried wonton chips, which tasted incredible since they were fried and we were all so hungry. While everybody else enjoyed the egg flower soup, I really liked the hot and sour soup. I don't think it's made from scratch - it was a little more gooey than I liked, but the flavor was good and despite it already having enough heat, I added in extra sriracha to give it some more spice. There was a good amount of ingredients inside the soup as well. Workers were really friendly and nice. Food came out quickly from the kitchen. Portion size was pretty great - I had enough to take home to eat for dinner that night. Several at the table even shared and it was more than enough. They did have a little trouble splitting up the check, so we all ended up paying for our own portion at the front, which was much easier. tl;dr - Highly recommend coming here for the lunch special (every day from 11:30 to 3 PM) if you're wanting to save on money but still fill up your stomach. It was my first time here, but everybody else had been to Little Dumpling several times and they've always enjoyed their dishes. Recommend trying the pad see oew or the curry dishes if you aren't sure what to try!

Yelp
It's been 13 years since we moved to Vegas and this was actually the very first place we ate at when we arrived. It's just a small place in a strip mall but up to now we keep coming back to them (even though we now live 30-45 minutes away). They have the best salt and pepper shrimp in America, period! You can include any luxury restaurant in Las Vegas and they wouldn't be able to compete with this tiny charming place. And theirs is the only salt and pepper squid that I can actually chew with no effort! Their fried rice is never too salty or overwhelming and my favorite among their fried rice selections is the pineapple fried rice (which, surprisingly, I can still order even though I no longer see it in their menu). A simple item such as an egg drop soup is always taken for granted in any Chinese restaurant but their version of that is so rich that my son would simply dump rice on his bowl of soup and make a meal out of it, and he could do that everyday if we'd let him. Anyway, the staff is so friendly and there's somebody who's been there all thirteen years that we went to this unassuming place. Her name is Liz (I think) and she's always been nice and friendly to my family. We'll keep going to this place for the perfect experience.

Yelp
This was such a pleasant surprise. The food literally melts in your mouth and the staff is super nice. If you come you HAVE to get the pot sticker dumplings & the saipao!! Can't recommend it enough.

Yelp
Little dumpling is out "go-to" for Chinese/Thai. We've never been disappointed with their quality or service. They are the most consistent with their food too. We do delivery most often, and it's always super fast and friendly. We've even turned our parents onto them. Great prices, great food I can't ask for more.

Bruce L.

Yelp
Fresh food always tasty and with excellent portions. Friendly staff, food is always hot and ready on time. Wife ordered honey walnut shrimp. Amazing.

Andrew B.

Yelp
Mine and my wife's go to Chinese place. Always exceptional service and quality is very consistent. All their food I've ordered is delicious.

Yelp
The Penang curry was more like oatmeal than Penang curry, and the dumplings were made with ground chicken, the best thing was the mango smoothie
google avatar

Yelp
Pineapple fried rice is very fresh and chicken is tasty too/ service is great/ thank you Henry

Kristopher K.

Yelp
Little Dumpling is one my favorite places to eat at The orange chicken is amazing it takes panda express out of the park, the water and it rocks! Chow mein is lovely pork buns are delicious

Mitchell R.

Yelp
The food was great with nice portions. The kids got sweet and sour pork and sesame chicken. Typically they are pretty bland dishes but the flavor was great without being spicy. Adults got Thai spicy beef noodles and yellow curry chicken. Both were outstanding. Potstickers we're fantastic and great flavor. The service was very fast and friendly. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Must try...very nice Chinese & Thai restaurant at Northwest area. Food is delicious and pricing is very friendly. Owner is nice and staffs are super friendly. Strongly recommend this place and you won't regret.

Yelp
Cheap, fast and delicious food , service was great and ambiance was authentic. I definitely recommend this place if you're in the area.

Yelp
Looked this restaurant up on Yelp!. It showed that they closed at 9:30pm so we had time since we were in the area. Got there at 8:30pm got seated very quickly. They brought menus over and we selected the food we wanted to order. When the guy came over to take our order (8:40pm) he said they close at 9:00pm. The sign outside said they close at 9:30pm. WTH? Even if we ordered we get our food at the earliest at 9:00pm, when they close?!?! If you plan to eat here know that their hours are off and don't correspond to what they advertise on Yelp! and their window.
google avatar

Peter F.

Yelp
I don't know about the other location, but the Northwest location of Little Dumpling off of Skypoint Drive in the Target shopping center is a fantastic family run restaurant. They are always serving up some of the freshest Thai or Chinese food in the Northwest. They have a fantastic lunch special that is so cheap and tasty! You owe it to yourself to go and try this place. Sorry guys, no pictures because I ate it so fast!
google avatar

Jeffrey G.

Yelp
As usual, our dining experience was great. Our go-to place for Chinese food. Best hot and sour soup around. Their Monday through Friday lunch specials are fantastic. Great value, always have leftovers for another day. We highly recommend this place. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Krissy G.

Yelp
Tom Karr was literally coconut milk plus chicken. Lemon chicken was more of orange chicken. Honey walnut shrimp was lemon walnut shrimp. Chow fun was ok. Would not recommend this place.
google avatar

Billy S.

Yelp
Great value for their lunch specials! Lemon chicken is one of my favorites! Lunch specials comes with soup and I always get the wonton. Owner is nice and accommodating! Although restroom is okay, it'll benefit if they install air freshener and not just a typical restroom smell if you catch my drift! Overall a best bang for the bucks place if you're not picky. Btw, I won't order the ginger chicken and the Pad Thai again. Their okay but not my favorite. Try if yourself and let me know!
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
Mood - Potstickers When you first walk in there are several booths. There is a menu on the wall as you walk along, then you go up to the counter to order, and find your seat. This was a bit confusing as there are no signs pointing you in the right direction. Telling you what to do ect. ( typical signage seat yourself blah blah ) none of that. The interior was clean, the staff was friendly. I got my food in a fairly quick amount of time. The Potstickers I got were chicken. No other fillers, just meat. They were ok, however the dipping sauce was wonderful. That sauce was the highlight. Location is convenient 215/ Skypointe, ample parking.

Yelp
I walked in with my mother just to try out this place never before tried it but we drive by it anytime we go to target.. we walked in and it smelled like cigarettes as if I was in a casino and the host/the girl who takes the orders was rude and unwelcoming which sucks because We walked in with a good attitude and she popped my mood honestly didn't even want to order ask any questions about the menu.

Jeff P.

Yelp
Excellent food. Great prices. Delivery is amazingly fast. Guess I have to keep putting words here before they will Let me post. How about F YELP

Yelp
We had the lemon chicken, crab Rangoons, and house fried rice. Everything was delicious!! Love love love

Zoey L.

Yelp
Amazing service and excellent food! Super underrated and affordable prices! will be returning:)

Yelp
Well what can I say about this place except it's mediocre at best. The pad Thai was slimy and way too sweet the vegetable and chicken had no flavor. It comes with soup and for $1.00 more you can get wonton soup. I had to ask for the meat as mine didn't have any and my husbands did. The egg roll was greasy and tasteless. What a shame six years ago this place was delicious now it's horrible. I'm wondering if they got new owners. I don't plan on returning.

Yelp
BAD FOOD AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We dined in for dinner. We used to go to Little Dumplings on Decatur and 215, but they closed. So we decided to give this place a try. Crab Rangoons were sweet and have no crab favor. The Tom Ka Soup with shrimp, also SUPER sweet and lots of onions and no flavor of lemon grass at all. Pad Thai with beef, the noodles were not fully cooked, the sauce was terrible. Bad customer service, the waitress never came to see if we needed anything. Also, the hallway going to the restroom smelled like a sewer. Restrooms are super dirty too...I mean dirty. Overall our experience was awful! Never coming to this place. ‍
google avatar

Onion G.

Yelp
The chicken Pad Thai and shrimp Pad Thai are delicious and very filling. The Panang curry was extremely bland, I would not recommend ordering it. The place is a little grimy and was featured in dirty dining so I always keep that in mind when ordering from here.
google avatar

Yelp
Our go to for local Chinese Food! Never had a bad experience. Friendly customer service.

Yelp
If I'm being honest, I've never ordered food from this place. But their honeydew slush is TO DIE FOR!!! It's so amazing! My biggest regret is that I didn't find this place sooner. I'm not a boba fan, although the last time I stopped by, I tried it. NOPE, still not a fan, but the slush was so yummy!! Tastes just like honeydew ice cream in Japan or the honeydew bars they have in Korea... yummy! I'm so glad I don't have to drive all the way down to Spring Mountain to get a taste of this yummy slush! I will become a regular here for this slush alone! Plus it's so cheap! Just try it!
