During one of our lunch breaks, a few of us were able to have a quick lunch at Little Dumpling. My supervisor mentioned that they have pretty good lunch specials that are quite affordable, which won me over quickly. Little Dumpling is a small mom and pop shop that serves up Thai and Chinese dishes at affordable prices.
Little Dumpling is located in a pretty big plaza with plenty of parking - restaurant was quite empty when we stopped by, with only a few other customers taking over some booths. While they have both Thai and Chinese dishes, they also offer family dinner specials, which I thought was a good idea if you're too busy to cook. We all stuck with ordering from the lunch special menu. Dishes are only $6.50 each, and comes with an egg roll and your choice of hot and sour soup or egg flower soup. (And if you order an entrée dish, you have the option of fried rice or steamed rice.)
I went with the pad see oew (wide rice noodles stir-fried with beef - you can pick from beef/chicken/pork/tofu - broccoli, egg, and soy sauce). This is very similar to the Chinese beef chow fun noodles, and I have to say that the taste was very similar as well. Dish was pretty huge for only $6.50. I thought the overall dish tasted very good - there was enough "wok hei", which had the flavors sing out. Good amounts of beef cooked into the dish, but I really liked the bamboo shoots tossed throughout, giving it a different texture and taste. Since I'm a fan of chow fun, I liked Little Dumpling's take on it with the pad see oew.
Egg roll was nothing too special - crispy on the outside and good flavor on the inside. Make sure to eat them quickly or else they become soggy. They also provided fried wonton chips, which tasted incredible since they were fried and we were all so hungry. While everybody else enjoyed the egg flower soup, I really liked the hot and sour soup. I don't think it's made from scratch - it was a little more gooey than I liked, but the flavor was good and despite it already having enough heat, I added in extra sriracha to give it some more spice. There was a good amount of ingredients inside the soup as well.
Workers were really friendly and nice. Food came out quickly from the kitchen. Portion size was pretty great - I had enough to take home to eat for dinner that night. Several at the table even shared and it was more than enough. They did have a little trouble splitting up the check, so we all ended up paying for our own portion at the front, which was much easier.
tl;dr - Highly recommend coming here for the lunch special (every day from 11:30 to 3 PM) if you're wanting to save on money but still fill up your stomach. It was my first time here, but everybody else had been to Little Dumpling several times and they've always enjoyed their dishes. Recommend trying the pad see oew or the curry dishes if you aren't sure what to try!
