"Little Fish’s intimate Bella Vista dining room is full of couples on dates eating oysters, friends catching up over tuna crudo, and groups who’d travel from Frankford on a tricycle just to get their hands on the butter-roasted halibut. But if you can only order one thing from the Asian-inspired BYOB, first, we’re so sorry, and second, it must be the scallop toast. Thick cuts of buttery scallops are dressed with a chili oil drizzle, confetti of chives, and soy. And it comes on slices of soft sesame baguette. It’s a creation that will make you yearn for every toast to have scallops on it, or to have the stamina to cross neighborhoods on a tricycle if your car breaks down." - alison kessler, candis mclean
"The name says it all: dinner at this intimate Queen Village spot is all about seafood. There are always a few unmissable items on the ever-changing menu, and one of them is the crudo. Most recently, the fluke crudo looked more like a colorful salad than fish—a roof of baby fennel, carrot slices, pistachio, and mizuna all covers thinly sliced fluke in a pool of shallot vinaigrette. It's an unexpected combination of earthy, nutty and refreshing elements that'll pair perfectly with whatever bottle you brought." - candis mclean
"Little Fish is a candlelit BYOB in Bella Vista that makes great seafood dishes with Asian influences. The corner spot is tiny and intimate, which means you have to plan a few weeks ahead to reserve one of the handful of tables. But the effort is worth the shaved raw scallops in chili oil, soy, and chives on buttery sesame toast, charred octopus in a hot mustard vinaigrette, and nori tagliatelle with crab and smoked trout roe. And the size of the room makes eating here feel almost like it’s just you, your date, and, you know, the chefs." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"Queen Village’s 16-seat Little Fish BYOB is a special experience, with diners sitting right in the action, with a full view of the kitchen. Enjoy tuna crudo, scallop toast, and black bass either prixn fixe or from the a la carte menu. Stop by nearby Bloomsday to pick out a bottle and if you want to sit outside, come early because outdoor seating is in demand, on a first-come basis." - Annemarie Dooling
"Another long-time favorite. This tiny, charming BYOB in Bella Vista has been making some of the city’s best seafood for over 30 years. Just a few tables occupy the dining room at Little Fish, because most of the space is taken up by the open kitchen. The food isn’t French and the dining room isn’t formal. But whether you order the buttery scallop toast or uni and crab tagliatelle, every dish will be elegant, inventive, and precise. And if that doesn’t channel Le Bec-Fin, we don’t know what does." - alison kessler
