Tucked away near the airport, this spacious European-style microbrewery features a sprawling biergarten, great German brews, and a fun disc golf course.
"Live Oak is one of Austin’s oldest breweries and probably best known for its hefeweizens and pilsners. It’s set on a massive lot out near the airport, complete with a 13-hole disc golf course and a German food truck—if you want a pint and a schnitzel sandwich, this is a lot closer than a trip to Fredericksburg. Stop here the next time you’re flying out of Austin, but be careful that two beers doesn’t turn into “Hi, I missed my flight and I need to book the next one out.” " - nicolai mccrary

"Founded in 1997, Live Oak Brewing Company is pegged as Austin’s original craft brewery. Its European-style microbrewery in Del Valle offers a taproom and biergarten with tours, special tappings, food trucks, and other events. Drop by and pick from the several all-year beers, plus seasonal and limited offerings. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Elizabeth Leader Smith, Nadia Chaudhury
"What can you say about Austin’s oldest brewery except that it’s a classic and the city is lucky to have it? Now a whopping 25 years old, the Del Valle brewery’s old-guard approach has always been to make German beer styles. As such, both the pilz and hefeweizen are among the best in the country. Live Oak’s main innovation in the past decade was actually opening a nice taproom on some acreage near the airport and starting to can its beers, but outside of that, it’s business as usual. German beer done properly, priced reasonably, and made with care and craft. There’s also a small food truck and a disc golf course should you be interested, and UT Longhorn football games are shown in the taproom. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Tom Thornton
"To get away from it all, head out to Del Valle and hang out under lush oak trees with buds while sampling from the longtime brewery’s beers on tap." - Darcie Duttweiler
