If you’re looking for an array of soul food classics, with good music, and southern hospitality this is definitely a spot you should try out. When we came for brunch this place was already packed, so we put our name on the wait list and it took about 25-30 minutes until our table was available. When we sat down our server greeted us immediately, but we could tell she was a bit overwhelmed due to it being so busy. We decided to order the Deviled eggs with fried shrimp (2 piece) for our appetizer, Lo-Lo’s chicken and waffles, and the Famous soul food platter with fried catfish, fried okra, mac & cheese and a side of cornbread. Our appetizer came out pretty fast and it was absolutely delicious. The meals took sometime for us to receive, but it all came out very fresh and piping hot.
All of our food looked amazing, but they came on smaller plates so it made it difficult to eat at times. The fried catfish was cooked perfectly, very flaky, and had a nice crunchy crust. The mac & cheese and fried okra tasted very good, but the cornbread was dry. The fried chicken was fried well, but needed just a tad bit of salt. The waffle was so fluffy, sweetened to perfection, and had a strong cinnamon flavor that mingled well with the slabs of butter and warm, sugary syrup. Overall, the food was very good, the atmosphere had a fun vibe, and we would definitely come back to try out more of their signature dishes.
