Local Yocal BBQ & Grill in McKinney is the go-to spot for mouthwatering Wagyu steaks and BBQ, all served in a charming, rustic setting.
"Responsibly sourced beef and seasonal fare are center stage at this farm-to-table barbecue spot. From the lunch menu, order the smoked chicken fried steak featuring buttermilk marinated and hand-battered wagyu sirloin to take dining on smoked meats to a new level, or go for an excellent barbecue plate. At night it transforms into a steakhouse, with a menu that includes a thick pork chop and wild-caught fish." - Courtney E. Smith, Leslie Chatman
"Local Yocal BBQ & Grill, a brand new eatery from beloved McKinney butcher Matt Hamilton, is officially open for business. The new restaurant at 350 E Louisiana Street in McKinney started slinging steaks and barbecue last week within a revamped 1920s building. Hamilton threw everything together (including the kitchen sink) under one roof. The 15,000 square foot space is part restaurant, part music venue, butcher shop, market, and wine bar. Hamilton wanted to stay true to the history of the building, so he kept the rustic wood aesthetics with brick and brass accents. The dining area seats 145 between banquet and table seating and the patio will seat another 40 when finished." - Alaena Hostetter
"Local Yocal, a McKinney butcher that’s provided grass-fed beef to Dallas restaurants for years, is getting into the restaurant game. Owner Matt Hamilton will open his first-ever eatery, dubbed Local Yocal BBQ & Grill, at 350 East Louisiana Street in McKinney, according to CultureMap. The 10,000 square foot space will be a one-stop-shop for Local Yocal, housing a butcher shop, restaurant, market, and sprawling wine room, along with a private events space that will be used for monthly pop-up dinners. As far as the food is concerned, diners can look forward to a menu of smoked meats, burgers, and Southern comfort food, along with sandwiches and quick-serve options that will be available during lunch. 'At lunch, the idea is to get a great lunch in and out, so we’ll be doing expedited service where you order and the food is brought to your table,' Hamilton told CultureMap. 'At dinner, it’ll be a more traditional style with a hostess and reservations.' Hamilton hasn’t announced an opening date for Local Yocal BBQ & Grill just yet, but diners can get some idea of what the restaurant will be like on June 9, when Chef Adam West hosts a steak dinner that shows off the butcher’s best beef." - Amy McCarthy
