"Responsibly sourced beef and seasonal fare are center stage at this farm-to-table barbecue spot. From the lunch menu, order the smoked chicken fried steak featuring buttermilk marinated and hand-battered wagyu sirloin to take dining on smoked meats to a new level, or go for an excellent barbecue plate. At night it transforms into a steakhouse, with a menu that includes a thick pork chop and wild-caught fish." - Courtney E. Smith, Leslie Chatman

"Local Yocal BBQ & Grill, a brand new eatery from beloved McKinney butcher Matt Hamilton, is officially open for business. The new restaurant at 350 E Louisiana Street in McKinney started slinging steaks and barbecue last week within a revamped 1920s building. Hamilton threw everything together (including the kitchen sink) under one roof. The 15,000 square foot space is part restaurant, part music venue, butcher shop, market, and wine bar. Hamilton wanted to stay true to the history of the building, so he kept the rustic wood aesthetics with brick and brass accents. The dining area seats 145 between banquet and table seating and the patio will seat another 40 when finished." - Alaena Hostetter

"Local Yocal, a McKinney butcher that’s provided grass-fed beef to Dallas restaurants for years, is getting into the restaurant game. Owner Matt Hamilton will open his first-ever eatery, dubbed Local Yocal BBQ & Grill, at 350 East Louisiana Street in McKinney, according to CultureMap. The 10,000 square foot space will be a one-stop-shop for Local Yocal, housing a butcher shop, restaurant, market, and sprawling wine room, along with a private events space that will be used for monthly pop-up dinners. As far as the food is concerned, diners can look forward to a menu of smoked meats, burgers, and Southern comfort food, along with sandwiches and quick-serve options that will be available during lunch. 'At lunch, the idea is to get a great lunch in and out, so we’ll be doing expedited service where you order and the food is brought to your table,' Hamilton told CultureMap. 'At dinner, it’ll be a more traditional style with a hostess and reservations.' Hamilton hasn’t announced an opening date for Local Yocal BBQ & Grill just yet, but diners can get some idea of what the restaurant will be like on June 9, when Chef Adam West hosts a steak dinner that shows off the butcher’s best beef." - Amy McCarthy

Amazing food - and service - thrilled that we stopped here for lunch! Honestly, the pictures don’t do the food justice - these were outstanding burgers! We got The Hamilton and it was the best burger we’ve probably ever had - seriously! Little jalapeño for some spice to it, everything about this burger was awesome. And then we got The Texan, which is their brisket burger and it was awesome as well. Fries were good; went with a salad as the second side because we didn’t need any more fries or chips! Ambiance was awesome and Frances, our waitress, was so kind, courteous, and prompt with everything we needed for a wonderful meal!

Stopped in for lunch while shopping in downtown Mckinney. I had the house salad, added brisket and substituted the shallot vinegarette. Salad was very fresh and brisket had a good smokey taste. My husband had the sausage tray appetizer. Good place for a relaxed lunch. We walked a few blocks from downtown. They do have a large parking lot. You can see the silos murals kitty corner across the street.

It’s been a while since I’ve given 5 stars across the board but, Local Yocal lives up to it! From the moment you pull in to the parking lot you can tell, this place is a spot you want to be. The ambiance and decor is nice inside the bar is a sight to see. All the staff are friendly and helpful. I had a rib plate with a salad, my buddy had a brisket and jalapeño cheeseburger (which also had a beef patty) with fries. The salad was fresh and crisp, I had it with their house dressing which I highly recommend. The ribs came with sauce on the side rather than on the ribs which I really like (most places over sauce to mask the quality of their meat). The person I was with also got the brisket Mac n cheese to go. The price was a bit lofty but not much more than you’d expect from any BBQ joint, it was just north of $20/person.

Fresh farm-to-table options which were deliciously prepared with excellent customer service. My only reason at holding back on a 5-star rating was due to the noise level in the restaurant. It's quite hard to hold a conversation when it's crowded.

Was recommended this place and drove about a hour to try it and oh was it worth the drive. The food was everything and more. The service was over the top, I sat at the bar and the bartender was very knowledgeable in explaining in detail the menu options along with drink recommendations. As I was recommended this place I will do just that myself. One of the best dining experiences I ever had and the steak was to die for 🤤 keep taking care of the staff you can tell they enjoy and take pride in what they do 👏 👏

We absolutely LOVE Bar&Grill. We come here for date night once or twice a week. The food and drinks are AMAZING! The staff are friendly and knows what they are doing when it comes to costumers.

Heather Hester

Google
Hester’s Theatre of Magic had the BEST time ever performing at the Local Yocal BBQ & Grill for a corporate event in the banquet room! The venue was beautiful, clean, and the staff were awesome! Everyone said the food was amazing! The bartender Chuck was on point! 🙌🙌🙌🙌 We can’t wait to come back!

Google
Great BBQ Restaurant with outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. The BBQ is on point and the prices are fair. For lunch I had a brisket sandwich with fries and the wife had Mac & Cheese with smoked brisket on top. She couldn’t finish hers so we took it home and I had it the next day, and DANG it was good! And Now I’m craving it. Looking forward to eating there again soon!

Yelp
We had brunch at LOYO today (Saturday, around noon). It was amazing. My meal was good. Eggs on scratch made biscuits and ham, yada yada. However, it paled in comparison to my wife's Brisket Enchiladas from the brunch menu. Possibly the best brunch dish I've tasted anywhere. (really, we liked it that much). Thankfully, my wife could only eat half of it, so she shared. Not to go on and on about one dish, but it was really amazing. The Smokey flavor of the generous amounts of chopped brisket was wonderful. A forkful of brisket, spanish rice, fresh tortillas, and avocado was truly delicious and melted in the mouth. To make the experience even better, our waitress, Whitney was excellent. It was one of those rare times when the meal was actually enhanced by the wait-staff. She took the time to answer my wife's questions about the brunch drinks, and brunch menu. She recommended the Brisket Enchiladas (what a treat) and even suggested adding avocado, which was a great addition to the plate. We came home with some amazing leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. Or, maybe we'll just go back for seconds and ask to be seated at one of Whitney's tables. Whitney, thanks for your great service and for not making us feel rushed. I bet the YOLO mgmt. would love to find five more bright, cheerful and personable wait staff such as yourself. Can't wait to go back. - h

Yelp
I had a pleasant experience at Yocal Local. The food was well-prepared and presented beautifully. The Hamilton Burger was juicy, and the fries were crispy, just how I like them. The French onion dip was a great starter, and the classic margarita was perfectly balanced. Our server started off strong--she was very attentive, made sure our drinks were filled, and took our orders promptly. However, as the meal progressed, her attentiveness began to waiver. We noticed longer wait times for refills and for her to check on us as we neared the end of our meal. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it did affect the overall experience slightly. That said, Yocal Local is still a great spot for a casual meal with good food and drinks. I'd recommend it, but hope the service stays consistent throughout the visit next time.

Yelp
I love this place haven't had a bad meal ever! Very nice bar selection too. I've had the platter for 2 pretty good portion. Brisket Mac n' cheese Yum!

Kaitlyn S.

Yelp
Great local spot with excellent quality food, service and atmosphere! Everything we had was truly stellar and we honestly could've shared one main dish! Don't skip out on the beef ribs, Mac and cheese or friend green tomatoes. I'll dream about all of it! Pro Tip: Make a reservation in advance but you can get lucky if you go early enough and just walk in. But don't chance it.

Lindsy H.

Yelp
This is my second or third visit to Local Yocal and this was my best experience yet. *Quick tip - they are absolutely strict on their 90min table time. They will literally ask you to leave after 90min so don't come here if you are hoping to catch up or sit at the table talking. I'm going to start with service as this is the only reason I give them 3.75/4 stars not 5... SERVICE Each experience I've had here has included really great table staff. My waiter(tress) has always been cheerful, made eye contact and been able to answer any question I've had about drinks or menu items. My water has never been empty long and empty plates are cleared quickly. While this appears like great service it's really that they want to turn tables over quickly. **When you make a reservation you agree that you will only be at your table for 90min (parties 6+ get 2hrs). While this might seem like a lot of time it is not! They do an okay job of not making you feel rushed the entire time, but a few times the waiter kept asking to clear a plate or drink that wasn't complete. We were grateful our drinks, starter and entrees arrived well spaced out and not on top of one another, but we while we were still finishing off our entrees the waiter kept asking to clear things at first we thought he was just trying to keep our table clean, but turns out they were trying to flip the table quick. Once we finally surrendered our entree plates we were brought a dessert menu which we perused and discussed for maybe 5min and decided ultimately we were too full. The checks were brought and within moments of signing the credit card slips we were asked to give up the table. Our waiter seemed flustered and apologetic but told us his manager was really giving him a hard time that we'd stayed over the 90min and they needed the table as there were a lot of people waiting. We were shocked, we knew it had been longer than 90min but there wasn't a single moment we just sat around. The realization that it's not really great customer service it's simply a rush to flip table disguised as good service. We kindly gave up our table making sure to grab our leftovers and quickly gulp back the remainder of our drinks. We were very dismayed to see four people in the entire waiting area and ZERO people waiting outdoors. There were NOT in fact "a ton of people" waiting. Now for the rest... PARKING There is a paved lot out front, with free parking, but spots are limited and go fast. Otherwise there is a dirt lot of sorts across the street you can pay to park in. Be prepared for it to be dusty or muddy if there's been rain. RESERVATIONS + ARRIVAL Absolutely make a reservation, you won't get a seat unless you do. They will NOT seat you until your entire party has arrived and checked in & they only have a 10min grace period before you lose your reservation - so make sure everyone is on time! They don't play around, I've seen people lose their reservation and I've seen parties of 10+ waiting on one or two people. FOOD + DRINKS I've never had a bad drink here and my friend who is particular about her drinks has yet to have a bad one here either. From cocktails to beer and wine they have a great selection. My favorite starter is their Jalapeño Cornbread. It's amazing and always a table pleaser to share. While they're known for the locally grown and smoked meats I have yet to try their meat, but have throughly enjoyed their Wild Caught Fish, salads, Grain Bowl and Chicken. All were a hearty portion, prepared fresh and absolutely tasty. My husband and friends have all tried the Pork, Steaks, Burger, LOYO Mac & Cheese and nothing has disappointed. Their prices absolutely reflect a "fine dining" establishment so come prepared to drop $$$. Our last visit I had a single cocktail, my hubby a beer flight, we split the cornbread. I had the $34 Wild Caught Fish, he had the McKinney Steak and side mac+cheese. Our bill was $145 - yikes! OVERALL I would recommend Local Yocal as a great place to get good food and drinks and a must try in downtown McKinney. I would even say I would come back, as long as it's just two people in the party so we have plenty of time to eat and not feel rushed. I wouldn't pick or recommend this as a double-date spot or a group spot though.

Yelp
This place is THE place. Incredible food. Incredible service. Incredible atmosphere. Everything is grown and raised locally. Local Yocal deserves the highest praise.

Yelp
This was not at all what we were looking for, we wanted a quick, cheap bite after being at a football game in Arlington, TX. When we walked in we felt incredibly underdressed and when we started to look at the menu we thought well this is not going to be quick nor cheap. We decided to stay and try it out and man I'm glad we did! I got the burger with a $19 price tag, I was a little hesitant and then it arrived and I realized why it was $19. Loaded with a hamburger patty, jalapeño sausage, brisket and the best bacon I've had in a long time- this thing was massive! Every aspect of it was great. I definitely recommend it! Two people ordered steaks and said they were perfectly cooked. We also ordered the cornbread as a starter and it was the best cornbread I've ever had. Service was top notch, our server explained their meat was locally sourced which is awesome. They also have a market where you can purchase various meats. All in all this place was great and I'm glad we ended up here, perfect way to end our Texas trip.

Yelp
We had a very nice dining experience at Local Yocal this past Saturday. We had reservations for 6 PM which is highly recommended. All tables were taken by the time we were seated. We started with the smoked onion dip served with their potato chips and the roasted bone marrow. The chips were a bit too salty but the dip was amazing. The same goes for the bone marrow. The marrow tasted like butter. Delicious! Everyone's main entree was delicious. I went with the Caesar Salad topped with shrimp only because we had heavy appetizers and sides. The service was quick and the dining area was nicely spread out and not too noisy which is a big thing for me. All together, this place gets two thumbs up.

Linda J.

Yelp
This was a fantastic experience from making the reservation, the people were very friendly and helpful when selecting our food. And the atmosphere was great with light music and great way to visit with each other. Our selection was the New York Strip Steak and perfect. Definitely recommend and we go again.

Emily F.

Yelp
Even with a reservation, wait staff didn't help us for 20 minutes. We did get service, and the manager was very apologetic and comped us an order of the pimento cheese, which was delicious. Had local beer options on tap. Had the Hamilton and the mac & cheese with brisket. Both were tasty. Would definitely go here again because of the great food, the atmosphere, and for the apologetic manager for trying to make our wait time justified.

Reena G.

Yelp
I really love this place! It's a fun atmosphere and I've been here for birthdays where they have private rooms. The service can be little slow but they were very accommodating. The jalapeño cornbread and the smoked red pepper pimento cheese as starters were so tasty and filling. My sister and I split the Hamilton burger. The jalapeño cheddar sausage is so tasty on this burger. It's has a variety of meats on this burger which is so tasty combined. The drinks here are really good as well. Fun place to go with friends or on a date. It can be little loud though.

Melissa Y.

Yelp
Our second visit and it's my standing favorite restaurant. The food and drinks never disappoint. I feel safe to venture out from my usual because it's always great. Kids loved the chicken strips. Staff is friendly, helpful and informative. The ambiance is perfect with the cool old building, thoughtful decor and perfect lighting. I think lighting can make or break a restaurant, They nailed it.

Vee P.

Yelp
Historical style restaurant in the restored area of McKinney. Family reported that their food was delicious, smoked chicken salad sandwich was great, but my pork ribs left a bit to be desired. Service was friendly, manager stopped by. Nice lunch, we would go there again

Emily C.

Yelp
I always love coming here. The food is fantastic, the service is great, and it's always wonderful to come for events because they roll out the red carpet. My sisters came in town for my birthday and we came because I told them this is the most divine food. It's an impressive spot for out of town guests. So thankful for the management for making it a fantastic visit today!

Niki R.

Yelp
Very good food! The drinks can be a little pricey but overall not bad. The service was on point. We never had to try and find our waitress. The restaurant itself is very nice. They did a good job in decorating and set up. They have mid priced meals out to larger priced meals. Apparently the owner sources the meat from his own farm and owns a meat market.

Charlie R.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience eating here. Called ahead for a reservation with a party of 8. Not a problem at all and the service was excellent. Kid friendly and great variety of food. The appetizers were delicious along with our entrees. Recommend asking your server about what the mimosa of the day is. Parking was easy and we look forward to coming back again soon.

Parris T.

Yelp
We've come here often for the different selections in the meat. This time, we went here for beautiful options for their pork-chops. They also sell varieties of vegetables and Texas cooking oils. Definitely recommend checking out!

Chris D.

Yelp
What a great brunch today. Had the Brisket Brunchillada. Delish!!! My girl had the pancakes. Definitely coming back for more.

Kim R.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times during work trips - a very nice combination of upscale and casual dining. The interior is cozy, with wood floors, brick walls and nice lighting without being too broody and dark. It's has a fun, Texas vibe equally suited to a night out with friends, work dinner or date night. Local Yocal specializes in bourbons, and they have hundreds to choose from, along with a great assortment of craft cocktails and beers. I had a "cask reserve" cocktail, which was excellent! Menu is simple, but satisfying, a number of steaks, BBQ items, pork chops, salads, seafood, a burger and a couple of chicken dishes. For sides you will find favorites such as garlic mash, mac n' cheese, brussels sprouts and green beans, as well as others. We started with the Pickles and the Pig, a fancy charcuterie board, and the BBQ sampler. The Pickles and Pig sausage was fantastic, as were the pickled items, cheese and crackers. The BBQ sampler and sauce was ok; brisket and slaw were nice, but the ribs, as flavorful as they were, had some tiny bones in them (maybe the cut?) that I honestly didn't care to have to pick out. For mains we all had steaks. For myself, I had the 44 Farms bavette (flank) with chimichurri sauce - you get a choice of cabernet demi, chimichurri or horseradish with the steaks. My steak was cooked a perfect medium rare throughout and was smoky, tender and juicy; the sauce was excellent. The mac n' cheese and smokey garlic mash were also terrific and the crispy brussels sprouts probably the best I've had anywhere. Service throughout was prompt, friendly and attentive. LOYO is an overall very fun and memorable dining experience that I will definitely be repeating!

Craig B.

Yelp
We came for a family birthday dinner and I have to tell you this was the best hamburger I've ever eaten in my life. Whitney was the best waitress I've ever had. She was on point all night long and everyone's food was perfect. I will come back again and again.

Melinda S.

Yelp
The heart and soul of Texas is a delicious well-planned chicken fried steak meal, and the bar is set very high when nearly every restaurant on every corner offers its version. Local Yocal needs to step up its game! The chicken fried steak was wagyu beef and a generous portion. It had a delicate smoke flavor, nice crunchy batter, not greasy, smothered in creamy gravy. Yes, I would call the chicken fried steak decent, but when the sides are an epic failure, then the whole dinner is doomed. The downturn, unfortunately, was the sides. On the same plate, we got starchy, sticky, cold mashed potatoes and cold, over cooked, green beans. Sorry, but it was absolutely awful. No quality control in their kitchen. We shouldn't have to complain, especially when it wasn't during a "busy" time. Even then, this isn't an excuse. We also ordered a wagyu burger and a side salad. Both were fresh and delicious but pricey. If you are in the area and want to enjoy a relaxing ambiance with average food, I highly recommend it.

Roland And Cathy T.

Yelp
Slow service. Not impressed with the food. Expensive. Probably better alternatives in the area. Not horrible but definitely not the best.

KayRon T.

Yelp
We were not impressed. The little overpriced food they gave us was extremely salty and unseasoned. The drinks were underwhelming. We will not be back.

Nathan G.

Yelp
Food* You are better off buying a steak at their market and cooking it in some tallow and butter at home. Parts of our steaks were burned and over seasoned then some parts were under seasoned. The mashed potatoes needed salt. Tasted bland. Kinda wack to spend 9 dollars for a side of mashed potatoes that barely feeds two people. You would think spending 40 plus dollars on one steak that you would get 50 cents worth of mash included. Parking* Parking is absolutely ridiculous nearly 6 dollars to park in a gravel parking for only one hour. Who does that?? This isn't downtown Dallas. Reservations* This place treats "reservations" like a suggested arrival time. You have to check in at your reservation and then they make you wait until a table is available. What's the difference between that and putting your name on the list? Someone explain. Paying* They process your payment in front of you and make you select a tip option right in front of your server. Super inappropriate. The tip selections start at 20% they're trying to make you uncomfortable so you just select 20% to get the interaction over with. If you want to select a specific amount, it's awkward. Hey Matt, I know you're a nice guy no disrespect. I really hope you read this and actually consider what I'm saying and not think I'm just some bitter broke boy. It was just overall a disappointing way to spend 80 bucks, not including tip or parking, for 2 steaks to be mediocrely cooked and under seasoned with a side of 9 dollar mash.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Another beautiful evening at Local Yocal. The service is always good, with pleasant waiters who are always willing to help you with questions about the menu. The food is excellent, well prepared. My husband and I have gone at different times alone and with all the family or friends and we always leave smiling.

Richard E.

Yelp
We had a very nice Friday night dinner at Local Yocal. The dishes were very good and they have a good beer selection. We plan on visiting them again.

Taylor K.

Yelp
Great food and great service! We've passed by Local Yocal hundreds of times and never stopped in. Today we decided to give it a shot and were shocked at how flavorful everything was. The chopped salad with brisket was a 10/10, definitely will be back for it again. They also have a huge cocktail menu with tons of rotating specials.

Sean M.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant. Don't let name and BBQ fool you. High end steaks and eccentric drinks with great service.

Lisa P.

Yelp
Oh My!! Totally the "Best" COMFORT FOOD...EVER!! Huge Portion enough for two or take it home for tomorrow morning!! I had the Chicken Fried Steak and gravy with smoked green beans and I substituted the mashed potatoes for homemade fresh cut fries!!!! We started the meal with smoked pimento cheese and grilled smoked sourdough (good) but next time I will try a different appetizer!! For dessert I had the lemon chess pie and my husband had the banana pudding cream pie! I had leftovers and can I just say "they were just as good!!!"

Josh H.

Yelp
Yeah I threw DOWN with my two buddies tonight. Some might be confused when I say throw DOWN; therefore, I will explain. I had a burger. With Wagyu beef. With sausage. With bacon. With some sort of cheese that was yum. With some jalepeno cream stuff that was so yum. With brisket. BRISKET!!!! I didn't even need to put any ketchup or mustard or salt and pepper that is how amazing it was and how strong I felt while eating this burger. Get it. End of discussion. The last point of my discussion is the bartender was hanging with us big time and he is the man and we have the same name so after we discovered that it was game over. He brought this place from a 10/10 to even better than that.

Mariely M.

Yelp
Brisket enchiladas Breakfast w/2 eggs, rice and some great sauce! Oh my goodness this place is now on the top of my new fav places in McKinney! So glad we came here to get brunch & hubby lunch! Best of 2 worlds! We had the sweetest server Alex she is so wonderful. To have both great food and service is rare now in days! But not here! Jerome the manager is totally amazing! Felt truly welcome at this establishment we enjoyed the ambiance stayed longer and we got the candle light glass set on the table as soon as it was getting to be dinner how great is that!? They don't miss the details either! We are now thinking of stopping by for dinner in a few hours there menu is superb we have 2 try there dinner menu too! Oh the drinks are also the bomb! I'm excited this gem is just minutes away from my home. you will not be disappointed!

Blaze Z.

Yelp
Don't waste your time or money. This place is over hyped. The atmosphere is cool, but the food is meh. For the price I thought we would get more for your money, but nope. So I would go here if others want to go, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Samra H.

Yelp
Great food, drinks and ambiance. Our table had the pimento cheese appetizer and the jalapeño cornbread. Both were amazing. For my meal I had the waygu sirloin, mac and cheese and the garlic mashed potatoes. Everything tasted great.

Kyla R.

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant in McKinney! The service is phenomenal, the food is out of this world amazing, and the rustic feel is perfect. I absolutely love this place. I typically order the Mac and cheese with brisket, it's VERY rich so be prepared. And the marrow appetizer is always perfectly cooked. This place is worth a few visits so you can experience everything on the menu.

Emma B.

Yelp
We had a great experience here! Food was great, lots of mouthwatering options with plenty of flavor profiles to choose from -- a foodies (and meat lover's) dream! Enjoyed the ambiance and the wonderful and kind staff here! Our waiter, Mason, was warm, welcoming, kind, accommodating, hospitable, and helpful! We are new to McKinney so it was so nice to have an excellent experience in a town we are unfamiliar with. A great McKinney staple! Will return and recommended. :)

Shelby B.

Yelp
The food was great, as expected!! Our service on the other hand was worse than poor. As I struggle to open the door for my mother (whom needs wheelchair assistance), two employees watch and stare without offering assistance. Our server did not come back after food was brought out to ask if we needed anything. When we were leaving, we asked for help exiting out the back as the waitress walked towards the front door (the handicap entrance), and the hostess laughed when we politely corrected her and said we need to use the disabled entrance.

Windy G.

Yelp
The chop salad with smoked turkey is fantastic! Going to try the mac & cheese at next visit! McKinney needs another great restaurant like this. Excellent food and excellent. UPDATE: Sometimes when I have Local Yocal smoked turkey I think ...Gee I love Matt Hamilton -but not in a weird way-just in a smoked turkey way.

Joseph R.

Yelp
Food and service was just OK. We ordered Hamilton burgers, which included extremely dry brisket and sausage. Also ordered chicken fried steak, which was also just mid. It was a pleasant night so sitting on the patio area was ok, other than lots of bugs which in Texas at this time of year is normal. The bbq platter wasn't good, all the meats were dry and overcooked and definitely needed sauce to even attempt to eat them. Great bbq in Texas shouldn't need sauce and there are better options than here. Probably won't be back; I really wish it was better!

Michael S.

Yelp
I've been there with my wife and I've also been there with some other friends on different occasions. The food is always very good. The service servers are friendly and efficient. The prices are on the high side, but maybe that is a sign of the times. The last time I was there with some friends, two of us had the rack of lamb. It was very good, although probably a little underdone. I ordered a medium rare and it was rare.

Cynthia D.

Yelp
My husband & I came across Local Yocal while we were looking where TUPPs is moving to. It looked nice & we looked it up and we were shocked by the menu. To have the food that Local Yocal serves this close to where we live is Amazing! I could rave about their menu but honestly if you haven't eaten here do it your missing out. My husband & I returned taking my mother & father there for their birthdays. It was above & beyond! You won't regret trying this place out.

Yelp
Steak 101 Class in the Augustus Event Hall, inside Local Yocal BBQ and Grill. Great setting for Steak 101, bar and appetizers. 3 hour's of Beef information guiding us through different steak cuts and location on the animal. 17, 1oz samples of different steak cuts and Roasted Marrow Bone w/grilled sourdough. Perfect class size, delicious medium rare steak bites mostly seasoned with salt and pepper, select cuts seasoned with Hardcore Carnivore sold at Local Yocal. Owner and instructor Matt Hamilton gave a very entertaining class, full of humor and information. Had a great time and really enjoyed the Steak, appetizers and Cocktails. Local Yocal is a great restaurant as my previous reviews have provided, Steak 101 is the perfect offering helping to tie the Farm to Market theme together along with the after class visit to Local Yocals Meat Market to shop and pickup a free pound of their ground beef w/class nametag. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great experience which started with Daniel our waiter. His food recommendations were excellent! Everything was top quality.

Yelp
Arrived Good Friday at 3:45pm. Place was empty. Waiter introduced place as locally sourced craft kitchen (everything cooked fresh on sight). Full bar!! I had a Balcones Brimstone; wife had a smoked pina - very good. Food arrived about 15 minutes after ordering. The Hamilton is named after the owner. He wanted a burger that was hard to finish. I ate 95% of mine. That's a ton of meat. IT IS FRIGGIN AMAZE BALLS! The fries were crunchy and sprinkled with sea salt and pepper - good stuff. Bill came to $69 for two plates and two cocktails.

Yelp
I've been going here since day 1. Great food and drinks , top notch service. I has been a satisfied customer at the butcher shop and looked forward to the restaurant opening. Since the opening, we have been steady customers. This is our "go to" spot for all our visiting clients. But the real complement, is that they invariably request to go there on their return visits. Hamilton Burger is 2 thumbs up !

Yelp
Dined here at least three times, at all times, the food have been on point. We tried their brunch menu for the first time on Saturday. The Smoked Brisket Benedict was phenomenal. Their pancakes are the fluffiest. They were so good. I also really enjoyed my Cobb salad, the perfect amount of dressing. The proteins that came with it were well balanced. We've wanted to try out different restaurants when we're in the area, and for one reason or another, we don't. And we end up very pleased.

Yelp
We made every wrong mistake and Local Yocal made it come out right! We went to see our friends in concert which is in the venue not the dining room but we made dinner reservations for the dining room. The front door attendants got us hooked up with two tickets and explained we could do dinner in the main room or they had smaller menu in the music venue. We said we'd do the main room. Got seated quickly. Ordered drinks. Then had double thoughts and realized we would be way late to the show. Just then, the manager for the restaurant came over and asked how things were. We discussed our conundrum. He had our waitress ring up our drinks and gave us the go-ahead to take our glass-glasses into the music venue though they don't allow glass in there!!! Once in the music side, the staff there got us seated and took our dinner order. We ordered the breaded chicken which my wife and I split. They split it for us and brought it out on two plates from the kitchen! Great service and they were all so helpful as we bumbled through getting to the right place. And again, kudos to the manager of the restaurant (sorry I didn't get a name). We felt very well taken care of. We look forward to going back for dinner. BTW, very trendy. Patrons nicely dressed. Slightly upscale dress code. Not over the top.

Yelp
This was actually my second visit to this place. I was not impressed even after giving it a second visit. I had the McKinney steak with asparagus and mash potatoes. At best my sides were good, but my steak was very tough. I had to chew for a good while before swallowing. I'd like the food to match the price. I will say I did enjoy the toasted smoked salmon dip.

Yelp
Let me start by saying my wife and I have loved this place from the start 4yrs ago for my 50th birthday. The service and food was spectacular. We had met the owner too at a New Year's Eve party as a church function. My how the mighty has fallen. This place went from our go to place to celebrate all of our special occasions from birthdays, Valentine's Day, anniversaries, and even our rehearsal dinner to complete lack luster. The service has been nothing more than mediocre at best over the last year. Nothing like what you would expect from a high tier restaurant. Our last experience, when my wife and I went for our 1yr wedding anniversary on 5/7/23, our server didn't even know how to open a bottle of wine. She even seemed put out when we asked for the specials. She also seemed oblivious when my wife wanted to add some grilled shrimp to her her steak. That was an easy up-sale which my manager would always coach us on when I was waiting tables myself. Tonight, we were there to give the place another chance for my birthday. We arrived slightly late for our reservation, but we had also had not received any update from the restaurant about our table being ready. The same thing that had happened to us the time before at our anniversary when we had to wait 15min past our reservation time for our table. They gave us grief over not being there and claimed they had the wrong phone number even though they had texted back confirming said reservation. They finally made good and gave us a table after a 5min discussion in the bar section. No biggie. We then waited for 15min without as much as water being delivered. For a place that is supposed to be upscale and a steakhouse at dinner this is beyond stupid. My wife and I will be looking for a new place to celebrate our special occasions.

Yelp
Delicious food, drinks, great service always. The owner is also a wonderful person. Thanks for such a great local restaurant! It's so much more than just bbq.
