Been here a couple of times during work trips - a very nice combination of upscale and casual dining. The interior is cozy, with wood floors, brick walls and nice lighting without being too broody and dark. It's has a fun, Texas vibe equally suited to a night out with friends, work dinner or date night.
Local Yocal specializes in bourbons, and they have hundreds to choose from, along with a great assortment of craft cocktails and beers. I had a "cask reserve" cocktail, which was excellent! Menu is simple, but satisfying, a number of steaks, BBQ items, pork chops, salads, seafood, a burger and a couple of chicken dishes. For sides you will find favorites such as garlic mash, mac n' cheese, brussels sprouts and green beans, as well as others. We started with the Pickles and the Pig, a fancy charcuterie board, and the BBQ sampler. The Pickles and Pig sausage was fantastic, as were the pickled items, cheese and crackers. The BBQ sampler and sauce was ok; brisket and slaw were nice, but the ribs, as flavorful as they were, had some tiny bones in them (maybe the cut?) that I honestly didn't care to have to pick out.
For mains we all had steaks. For myself, I had the 44 Farms bavette (flank) with chimichurri sauce - you get a choice of cabernet demi, chimichurri or horseradish with the steaks. My steak was cooked a perfect medium rare throughout and was smoky, tender and juicy; the sauce was excellent. The mac n' cheese and smokey garlic mash were also terrific and the crispy brussels sprouts probably the best I've had anywhere. Service throughout was prompt, friendly and attentive. LOYO is an overall very fun and memorable dining experience that I will definitely be repeating!
