"If you were to draft up a checklist of all the essentials for a hipster restaurant, Lodge in Williamsburg would look pretty damn-near perfect on paper. Deer antler chandeliers? Check. Cans of Genny Cream and Schmidt? Check. Bar made of reclaimed wood? Check. TV set from 1987? Check. I could go on...but you get the idea. Sure, hipsters are easy targets, and mocking them has become a cliché in its own right, but it’s too hard to resist here. The warm and cozy adirondack cabin thing at Lodge feels forced and contrived. And yes, we get the whole beards and flannel irony of a dude that goes fly fishing in Brooklyn. This place is unfortunately like Freemans' apathetic little brother - trying hard to emulate, but falling short of the effortless cool of their older sibling. When it comes to good food and service, that hipster ideal of just not giving a sh*t doesn’t fly. Our party of four came in on a slow weekday night and our waitress was disinterested from the start. We don’t ask for much, and all it takes is about thirty seconds of pretending like you actually care for us to feel loved. Come say hello once. Let us know you're at least attempting to do your job. Also, try not to give us terrible recommendations (see the whole grilled trout). Lodge’s menu looked good, and it's pretty damn cheap, but it ultimately fell short on the follow through. We'll pass on the Brooklyn hipster aesthetic and eat somewhere good instead. Lamb Sliders If you ask us, a good lamb slider should be like a powerful little hand grenade of Mediterranean flavor, as opposed to these bland improvised non-explosive burger devices. Sorry...we just watched The Hurt Locker.Whole Grilled Trout What a travesty. Our uninterested waitress swore by this dish, only leading us to further question her competence. The fish was bone dry with giant pieces of undercooked rosemary. Note to all restaurants: if you’re not finely chopping the rosemary, leave it on the sprig and remove after cooking. The rosemary flavor will be there and I won’t have to chew on tree bark with my fish.Pulled Pork Some great sweet and smoky BBQ flavor going on here, but the presentation was a bit puzzling. The pork was served in a bowl with a little too much liquid goin' on. No bread or anything to scoop up the goodness either. Luckily, this was served with a side of mac & cheese that may have been the best thing we ate at Lodge.Scallop Jambalaya This was a special when we came in, but was a thoroughly forgettable dish. Too much rice, and not much flavor. Gimme some spice please. Food Rundown Steamed Mussels with Fries Very solid dip. Not in the category of Freemans' by any means, but still quite good. Thick, almost doughy, and cheesy. Too bad it was downhill after this.Lodge cooks up its mussels with beer and Old Bay, making for a delicious broth. Unfortunately, these were a little on the fishy side, and tasty broth or not, we wouldn't recommend them." - Andrew Steinthal

The service was something to write home and tell your PA dutch family about. Courteous and classy, the host was a comfy-not-clingy splash of genuine hospitality and the server was a non-hovering but attentive and intuitive beaut, the perfect addition to our weekday boozy brunch. She was notably gracious about our allergies as well. You should know that the mimosas are mixed at an impeccable ratio: a slight tint of orange in the champagne. You'll love it.

It took us over 30 min to order since they only had one waitress working. She never checked up on us after getting the food and it took us more than 30 min to pay since she refused to split our check on the six of us and made us calculate everything ourselves with "gratitude" already added. Food was fine, but nothing special.

We ordered the lodge burgers which state it already comes with fries on the menu. After arriving to work only then realized no fries included with burgers. I called the restaurant only to be told that i have to specifically "ask" for fries in order to get them which the menu states are included. Clueless employee taking orders smh...btw the hamburgers were very tasteless and soggy.

The worst eggs benedict I've ever had- so disappointing! Staff is very nice but the food needs improvement - drastically!

The Mac n cheese w/bacon, delish! The burgers are also delectable and cooked to desired temperature. Highly recommend and would visit again.

I came here by four square recommendation , but the place is a huge disappointment. After 10 minutes wait , we were seated food was served in a decent amount of time, the plate look amazing and delicious but for my disappointment my food was undercooked they took it away and said was because the compote got the food soggy they brought me another plate with the fruit compote on the side but the same issue again after 40 minutes I left this place with an empty stomach . Only reason they have to stars is because their friendly staff

Probably the best tofu scramble I've ever had. They make everything there. I briefly worked next door and tried other things on the menu. Their Brussel sprouts are toasted and are really good. Their cafe The General Store next door makes really good sandwiches. The lodge has nice staff and they like what they do. Try not to order delivery on busy times around dinner and brunch as it gets really busy, you're better off eating here. Their brunch is until 4 on weekends, first come first served no reservations.

Well let me just say that some of the food was really good, but the experience this time was just ridiculous and we had to share. We walked in with 2 people and said there'd be four of us. The scrawny short haired host who looks like a previous member of Coldplay told us that we could not be seated until we were all here which was totally fine. HOWEVER, a party of 4 who's 4th person wasn't here yet walked in shortly after and got seated right away. When our 4th person showed up minutes after, the restaurant was full and the host said we'd have to wait 30 minutes. We asked why he seated a different group before their whole part was here, even though we were here long before, and he had no explanation but apologised and gave us free drinks which was a nice gesture. HOWEVER, he did not communicate this to the bartender so we had a very awkward exchange when getting said free drinks. We stayed because the food is usually so good. This time however, our food arrived so cold. We asked for hot sauce and it never came. The people next to us also had completely raw bacon. I don't know what happened to this place but it's so disappointing. I'm not saying don't come, but I hope this can let the management know that they better shape up, cause I needed brunch and my heart was set on them.
