"Start us off with an overview.Coronado is known for its charming downtown, "Pleasantville"-esque mansions and the historic Hotel del Coronado. But Loews Coronado Bay Resort offers a more off-the-beaten path option that’s five miles from the downtown hubbub yet still opens up to views of the bay and San Diego skyline. The design screams “vacation!”—think bright, white, and airy. It's polished without forgetting its chill SoCal surroundings. You’re here to relax sans pretense. Give us the backstory on this place. Is it part of a chain or independent?Part of Loews Hotels & Co., the Coronado Bay Resort is one of the brand's many North American hotels, stretching from Boston to San Francisco to Montreal. Tell us about the rooms.Tucked away, yes. But small it is not. Coronado Bay Resort touts 440 rooms, 40 of which are suites. The interior design pulls inspiration from the nearby bay with whites, blues, and sand-colored hues, and every room and suite has a balcony or patio that overlooks either the resort, garden, marina, pool, or bay. The vibe is comfortable and polished, albeit slightly generic. Amenities are standard, including a mini fridge, in-room Keurig coffeemaker, and terrycloth robes. Is there a charge for Wi-fi—and is the quality good?Wi-fi is free in rooms and throughout public spaces. Let's talk F&B: What's on offer? The hotel has three onsite restaurants, all of which pull from San Diego’s favorite food groups: seafood, tacos, and beer. Crown Landing, the poshest of the trio, partners with local purveyors like Catalina Offshore Products and farmers’ market on its seafood-heavy menu, while La Cantina, by the pool, serves Baja fish tacos and locally made vegan cotton candy sure to please kids (and big kids). Cays Lounge stocks their menu with craft beers, including nationally loved local labels from Stone Brewing Co. to Modern Times Co. How did you find the service, start to finish? Smooth and efficient, or clumsy and forgetful? The staff is attentive, friendly and always watching out for anything you need. This being a family-centric hotel, staffers are pros at chatting up and mingling with kids. Can you tell us a bit about who else is staying here? You'll spot couples and some friend groups, but Coronado Bay Resort is big with families and their young kids, which makes for a sometime bustling pool area. Rest assured, there's an adults-only option and hot tub when you need R&R and a stiff tropical cocktail. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? The hotel has all the Coronado vibes—laid-back, beachy, and water-centric—but in a removed location that's great for quiet but not ideal for walking to restaurants and shops. Thankfully the daily resort fee (included in your room rate) includes a complimentary shuttle between the hotel and Coronado Village from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Is there anything you'd change?More stylish decor accents in the rooms. Tell us what we missed! This place has activities aplenty. There are watersport equipment rentals (jet skis, sailboats, kayaks), mountain bikes and beach cruisers, surf lessons, and a shuttle to transport you to the beach (or take the five-minute stroll). In the summer, their Pool Concierge can dole out Italian ice, frozen grape kabobs, chilled towels, and sunscreen spray. Bottom line: Worth it? Why?Worth it for families and for travelers seeking a more budget-friendly beach stay that doesn't skimp on class." - Archana Ram

Google
I had a great stay at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort! My room was available for an early check in and I had a beautiful view of the water. I really enjoyed the complimentary shuttle to downtown Coronado. It allowed me to venture around during my free time and explore other dining options! The room was very comfortable and clean. My only feedback is the price for the food at the hotel was very expensive. The pool area was very nice and well maintained!

Google
The staff was amazing! Everyone I spoke to was helpful and friendly, going out of their way to be sure I felt valued and that my needs were prioritized. The staff was also helpful in mentioning interesting things to do and sights to see while I was in town. The many amenities made my time at the resort just as enjoyable as my time out and about in Coronado. Definitely a good choice!

Google
Our experience at this resort was outstanding. Our room was upgraded at no cost to us and we didn’t even ask! We had a view of the pool, marina and bay, and it was spectacular. The room was large and had a fabulous soaking tub, which I used twice! It was too cold to use the pools, but we hope to return soon. Self-parking was convenient by design, and the hotel was easy to navigate. We dined there, as well. The food and service were great. I have to say this is one of the best guest experiences we have ever had. We were treated like VIPs and loved every minute of it.

I love this hotel, I come often with my son. Is clean, and people at front desk are very nice they always welcome you with a Smile. Even the people that clean the rooms are nice. Like MARIA QUESADA. she was very nice with me and my son, she brought us cookies and milk to the room. Love this place. I recommend 100 percent.

Google
Relatively old in tourist town Coronado, Loews Bay Resort has a few 3-level buildings across a flat structure with 3 sides facing to the bay and leaving the west side to Silver Strand Blvd. The room is okay, with open balcony. Larger number buildings have a long way walk to lobby but all easy access to swimming pools. Main view from the east windows or the lobby court is San Diego city skyline. A few rooms can see sunset if next resort building not a block. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus to downtown at the corner of Orange Ave and Adella Ave, where at front door of Cora oso Beach Resort. The schedule is at :15 and :45 every hour from early morning to evening.

Google
We had the best time at Loews Coronado Bay! We mentioned to one of the staff members that it was our first time to San Diego, and that we were there to celebrate our son's 2nd birthday. When we got back to our room, they surprised us with a birthday package for him and a signed card from all the staff members. They really made us feel like VIPs, and we are especially thankful to have been a recipient of their impeccable service! Views from the hotel were unmatched. We had the marina view and it was stunning! Hotel room was clean, spacious and had great amenities. I would definitely recommend this resort, and we are looking forward to our next trip back!

Google
Staff was excellent. Location is 4 miles away from downtown area, so not very walk - friendly as already advertised. The hotel operates a free shuttle direct to the downtown Coronado area every 30 minutes on each end. The one negative thing which ended up being a big deal for my family and I is the place is like a dog park on the inside. Everyone has their so called “service dogs” walking around in the lobby, bar, pool area and inside the rooms. The rooms appeared to be clean, but our allergies were on overload while inside our room. We had to go outside for the symptoms to subside. Their “service dog” policies are out of control. How did we get to where animals are more important than paying customers?

Google
Excellent hotel right on the water with nice views. We stayed here for a “baby moon” and they were kind enough to upgrade our room to make the stay even more special. The rooms are very nice, clean, and service is great too. Gelato shop on the bottom floor is great for a late night dessert! They also have a complimentary shuttle which drops you off across the street from the Hotel Del Coronado. We plan to stay here again with how much we enjoyed this past visit!

Yelp
Lovely folks caring for visitors to a lovely property. Dyione and Rachel took the time to connect by phone, and help ensure a possible issue (after hours airline baggage transfer) was handled promptly and with a human touch. Thanks so very much for your sincere care and concern.

Yelp
TLDR - I'd avoid the place. When I checked in, my room was dirty. I had to call to get service to the room, which took a really long time. The service to replace the sheets and blankets, should have been done prior to checkin. I found the whole thing to be a complete waste of time. The place was a bit costly. The people were friendly though. I loved the food in the hotel. But aside from that, the cs on the rooms should be better

Gary H.

Yelp
TLDR wont be staying here again and I cannot recommend this hotel. Everything about this hotel and Loews has gone downhill from my previous experience. From the moment we arrived and the welcome card was written to the wrong family, to eating at their high end restaurant with poor service and overpriced options and poor presentation to ordering breakfast and after 1.75 hours it had not arrived yet. Allow me to offer context if you want to read all of this (my longest post in years in Yelp). Room not properly equipped: We paid for a nice suite so the kids could stay with us and it has a pull out couch; No pillows or blankets in closet?? Room vibration that kept us awake: The room had a random vibration every so often that woke me up several times. Couldn't figure out what it was but also couldn't call at 3am and wake all the kids. In room food service: Ordered breakfast 8am. Agreed to 45 minutes delivery. Had to call at 1 hour to ask if it was still on its way. She couldn't answer and said she would call me back in 2 minutes; Didn't call back. It's now over 110 minutes (1.5 hours+). No food no call. I called again and was told another 20 minutes. I cancelled the order. My 9 and 10 year old left without eating before their soccer games. Push back: I called and ask for a late check out now that we were behind due to breakfast delays and had to escalate to management because I was told 'no'. I wasn't even asked why. I kind of went off on the manager and am sorry for that as he did grant my late checkout. Parking: You rent a Private suite nestled on the Bay and cannot find parking for the Suite so you have to park 1/2 mile away. Simple solution, dedicate at least one space for these unattached bungalows. It's doesn't matter what you pay for a room but when you pay near $700 for one night and $500 for a meal that was not equivalent to the value, buy shorts from their shops and drinks from their bar and you reserve it directly with their brand website, one expects a little bit better service and less apologies. When any hotel brand's staff makes these mistakes consistently, you have a management and training problem. Reading previous reviews, this place needs an overhaul in service management. And please don't make the excuse it's because of the holiday. We won't be back and cannot recommend this hotel (and maybe brand) as the service was poor and the food in their high end restaurant (previously yelped about) was not good either. This was supposed to be a fun night for me and my local San Diego family and instead, it was such a disappointment. This is the kind of service you expect at a much lower grade hotel brand.

Lauren G.

Yelp
TL;DR: I would not stay here again. Our stay at Loews Coronado Bay Resort was extremely disappointing and far below the standard advertised as a "luxury resort." The property feels dated, poorly maintained, and far from the level of quality one would expect. Our two-bedroom suite had significant issues. The room smelled strongly of a musky odor mixed with what seemed like animal urine. The carpet was coming up, the paint was peeling, the windows had visible holes, and there was what appeared to be visible mold on the air vents. These conditions raised serious concerns about both cleanliness and safety. When we requested a room change, we were told there were no comparable options available, even though the hotel was only 30% booked. A replacement suite was offered, but it didn't accommodate our party, leaving us stuck in a room that clearly wasn't suitable for guests. When I raised these issues with the front desk, the staff acknowledged the room's problems and were apologetic. They did discount our stay, which we appreciated, but the discount didn't compensate for the poor experience or the condition of the room. While the staff were kind and responsive, the state of the accommodations overshadowed their efforts. This hotel is not maintained to the standard expected of a property at this price point. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Loews Coronado Bay Resort and would suggest considering other options for your stay.

Yelp
Review of the banquet side... of the wedding venue and service only: 2.5-3stars Large, spacious and beautiful venue. Their IG boasted their amazing food (they were 2nd place winner of a taco tko contest) so I was looking forward in tasting their food. Because of the rain, the wedding ceremony was moved indoor; staff was able to quickly accommodate the bride/groom but everyone seem to be in a frenzy in getting everything set up. Service was delayed; perhaps they are not used to large event and timing? Maybe it's a California thing?- I heard people are more laid back and slow about things - no rushing. At one point in the ceremony, staff couldn't find the parents gifts. Ceremonial stuff was brought in and misplaced by staff- found later and given with speech toward end of ceremony. After the ceremony, we enter cocktail hour which wasn't fully set up. The bar and table stuff was still being set up. The bartenders were rude when guests asked about timing and what was being offered. I tried to take a pic of the menu (from bride) to see what us offer but can't see so I used my purse to take pic. Asked bartender what type of alcohol and brand is offer and they said they have everything but they don't. The signature drinks weren't even ready (mid-party it was ready). Cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres were late and limited. Seems like majority of guests were starving because we all position near the door where they come out. They were limited and came out mid to end of the cocktail hour. At times they skip around to try to get to the other side of the room to feed others as most congregate toward the front. Not all were hot either; as if it was precooked and held in a steam warmer and then served to us. Bar also closed before end; assume they moving into the reception room. When entering reception room; we can see an empty area where the bar should be. Bar didn't arrive until 2hrs afterward... probably at the bride/groom's requests so that everyone is seated for the speeches and dances. The bar had limited alcohol available; mostly sodas and such. The servers did come around the room with some wine to pour for the speeches but offer nothing else. They also didn't replenish our water glasses and then halfway through the party, they removed all the water glasses. Was pretty thirsty toward the end and had to ask bartender for sodas since our water glasses were gone. There was a mix up with the fog machine (cord was too short?). Staff was trying to set it up fot the bride/groom's first dance. I noticed a few other service related stuff as I was in the business myself so I tend to notice service related. Not many staff and only in the room when they are serving food (probably short handed). Food: quality and taste was okay nothing amazing. Main entree look messy in presentation (all over the place). Veggies were bland and needed more seasoning. Food in general all night from cocktail hour to reception weren't that hot. Perhaps, the kitchen is pretty far away from the reception room. Everything looks beautiful but service and food wasn't all that great. Was decent, disorganized and food not hot. I wasn't impressed. I also heard from other guests that they weren't impressed either and that the bartenders were rude. No one else got water refill during the event as the staff wasn't in the room unless necessary. Perhaps they thought the table was empty?- but my table still had people sitting there and my purse was next to my water glass when I got up to dance.

Yelp
What a hidden gem . Honestly I can't believe the bad reviews. This place is great . Reasonably priced and what a great location. Without exaggeration every member of staff , from the super welcoming valet , to the room service servers , they all went above and beyond to welcome us . The food was really good too. We'll be back .

Yelp
The resort is located at the end of the Coronado island, so many people who go to downtown Coronado do not even know Loews is there. It is very well taken care of and I like the various divisions, especially the herbs garden and the joyous pool area. The hotel smells luxurious maybe because of the smells coming from the fabulous spa or from the kitchen. The views of Coronado bridge and Sand Diego skyline are fantastic. Is like a mini paradise inside the big heaven that is SD county. I really like the design of the carpets and the tonality. I know it might sound silly but I like to check those and give me an idea of what to expect. Easy parking and access to beach and marina. Love it.

Arvid Y.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our stay at Loews Coronado. We stayed at the Waterfront Villa King Suite which had beautiful views of the San Diego Bay and a nice private patio to enjoy the dramatic sunset (while eating room service / food delivery). The hotel itself is a bit dated like others have mentioned, but overall still pretty well put-together. It's a hotel with a good balance of seclusion / privacy and family friendliness. If you want hustle and bustle, Loews is NOT it. But if you want some peace and quiet with the occasional pool day or even a staycation, Loews is a good choice. This was good for my family since we spent the other half of the trip in Oceanside, CA which had more foot traffic. Pros: views, privacy (secluded), good on-site food (don't think I had one bad meal) and availability of suites which are family friendly Cons: dated rooms (some parts of my room could use a new coat of paint), resort fees, dirty carpet in our suite (my feet were black after the first 15 minutes - I guess I should keep my shoes on) , check-in was frustrating (our room wasn't ready by 4pm and the person at the counter had an attitude and just responded "there's nothing I can do" so we asked to see the manager and he comped us 3 drink vouchers (prolly worth $50) Despite the dirty carpet and rude check-in, I would still return.

Yelp
Nice resort for a weekend stay. Rooms were large and clean, staff were friendly, and the place has nice amenities. We ate dinner at the Crown Landing and it was just ok. Ordered nachos from La Cantina and felt the same. Food could be better. Husband enjoyed the cocktails from La Cantina. Unfortunately, they got new frozen drink machines and they weren't up and running yet. Apparently they don't even have a regular blender on site to make a frozen drink, which was disappointing for me. Pros: -Nice pools with bar / food service -On site spa (didn't use) -Fitness classes daily (didn't use) -pickleball courts and water sport rentals available (didn't use) - Four on site dining options -Beautiful views of downtown San Diego and the Coronado bridge -Shuttle service to Coronado village from 9am-9pm Cons: -Close to $50 per night for parking, which is in addition to the $39 per night resort fee! -Very secluded (can be a pro for some) and you'd need a car or to take the shuttle to get to anywhere offsite for meals. -Seem to host a lot of events and areas may be inaccessible to regular guests

Yelp
DO NOT BOOK AT THIS "RESORT". Seriously, just don't. There are many other amazing places to stay. This is not as it seems, do not let the images fool you! We booked our week long stay months in advance for our 37th Wedding Anniversary. We booked the bay view King room, when we checked in, we were given a tiny room with a view of the patio, we immediately went back to the desk and requested the correct room, the room we paid $509 per night for! And the attendant have the nerve to give us an attitude, like we wouldn't notice the patio view as opposed the bay view?? The "resort" is extremely outdated. Not kept up, dirty old carpets, old furnishings, etc. The elevator was out of service in our building, so we got to use the nasty, disgusting service elevator! There is only 1 ice machine per building, and on the 1st floor... We were on the 3rd floor. There was a large wedding happening while we were there, so we had limited access to the facilities. Half of the pool area was blocked off, the stairway to the Amazon lockers, bike rentals, and shuttle pick up were also blocked for the wedding. One of the restaurants was also blocked for the wedding. The prices were outrageous, simple items like 2 coffees and a pastry, $35. Everything in all areas was extremely overpriced. The "Manager", Kris was rude and condescending. I expected what they advertise, luxury resort... NOT! Please read all of the reviews, I have no reason to post here, other than to warn others not to waste their money, you will be sorry.

Grace K.

Yelp
Best customer service. We checked in late at night after nearly a 4 hour drive. We were so grumpy and tired. Jade at the front desk was so comforting and nice that we felt at ease. Our room is spacious with a beautiful view and even though our time is limited to just the night and early morning, we're so happy it was here.

Connie G.

Yelp
Stunning! More than impressed with this hotel. Beautiful views and amenities. Property was very clean and well kept. Dining options were excellent and the bar was a plus too. Enjoy the poolside or relax out in the lawn chairs in hidden nooks. Check in and out was easy and professional. Loved how kid friendly the pool area was as well with movies playing. Would love to come again! Already planning my next vacation.

Tinky R.

Yelp
Very dated hotel.... Picture it...Sicily ... Looks , feels and smells like the set from Golden Girls Needs updating

JJ J.

Yelp
After coming here a year or so ago, which was a phenomenal stay, I feel like it's kind of lost its charm a bit. I don't know what it was, but I felt frustrated being here. I think it had to do with the beginning of the stay where it seemingly got off on the wrong foot. I had asked if they had early check in prior to coming and what were the reasonable typical hours where it would make sense to see if there's availability. They wouldn't answer the question and defaulted to "we cannot guarantee early check in... you have to be here on-site". And then what I feared would happen, happened... when I got there, they didn't have a room for me. They said they would text me. After 3 hours later, never did until I went up to the front desk and they said my room has been ready hours ago and texted me letting me know. Never got the message and they had the correct number. I guess that's life and things don't work out sometimes. I was trying to not let my tiredness and impatience ruin the experience but I feel like it did. Then, I had to work to find out how to best navigate the hassle of parking and getting to and from my room in a convenient way. They used to allow parking outside of the garage, which made things easier, but not anymore. After a day or so, I finally figured out I didn't have to take an elevator from the garage to my room (and vice versa) and could take the stairs, which was somewhat easier, given how terribly inconvenient the hotel is architected. I found it also weird when having a car here that you could simply go through the gates; no attendant and no scanning of a keycard like last time. The room I had was definitely better this time around -- not only was it more spacious, but it had a great view to wake up to. The sunrise was remarkable over the Coronado Bay. That was essentially what I loved most about being here. The bed was comfortable for the most part, but I failed to tell the front desk to replace the sheets during my stay as I could feel sand that seemingly was left over from the other guest. When I did call one time, they didn't answer for seemingly almost 5 minutes. My room was literally the last room and furthest from the front desk, so the heck if I was going to walk 10 minutes just to request something. While there were some inconveniences, and I know nothing can be perfect, it was an overall good stay and I'm still glad I chose this over a downtown hotel. Who would ever want to live or stay in any downtown? Even though it's still a bit of a distance to get to the Coronado beach/city area since this place is rather isolated, I love being in Coronado. This area and La Jolla are my favorite places to be.

Alec K.

Yelp
We loved our time here!!!! It was nice n relaxing, just wanted it to be 10 degrees warmer..... Cindy n Katherine at the front desk did an exceptional job with their hospitality. Kia, Josh n Lonnie were very busy, but they took wonderful care of the patrons. The lobby was quite beautiful, cleanest pool n jacuzzi I've ever been to, the view from our room were outstanding n just an overall pleasant stay. The servers at the pool were very attentive as well. I want to go back already!!!!

Phillpe K.

Yelp
The beautiful hotel is magnificent and try's very hard to please as a general rule. They care. The rooms are much less than the Del Coronado and are very comfortable. The suites are grand, furnished well and have amazing views. The pool is awesome for adults mostly buts kids too. Pickle ball courts here now and new asphalt on the new driveways. Gorgeous, lavish, upscale, romantic,a true escape. But.... Food here, nope, very limited selected in room service.....very little choices, anytime You have to order room service on a tiny tiny screen on your phone. Fantastic air conditioning . Restaurants, ......nope, very few . 2 actually and one's a market type. They do not want to feed you here. Go down the road to Coronado. You will under eat here Don't be on a budget here at Loews. Last thing, it's the furthest away. It's 10 minutes further than the Hotel Del Coronado. Worth the drive,

Stephen C.

Yelp
Property is very nice & has the feel of an All-Inclusive Resort. Staff were great & night life in town was a short 10min drive away. We would definitely stay here again.

Olivia C.

Yelp
I liked Lowe's Resort. We stayed there for a 30th bday celebration and found the atmosphere to be relaxing, with lovely views of the Ocean. It was nice to have the shuttle that could take us to downtown Coronado that came every 30 mins so we could explore that area or catch a ride to downtown San Diego from there. We especially enjoyed chatting with the older gentlemen working the bar, who made us an excellent cucumber mojito and made the birthday girl feel special. The reason it's not a 5/5: -all the children running around. It would be nice to have an adults-only area around the pool with less screaming children. -The daily parking fees are a bit expensive at $50/day. -The limited dining options--there are two restaurants to chose from and a gelato shop that charges $8 for a small gelato cup. Not a deal breaker as the shuttle can take you to downtown for more options. All in all, I'd definitely consider staying at Lowe's again.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
For my birthday, my husband surprised me with a weekend stay here. To be honest, I have mixed feelings about it. While there are aspects I enjoy, there's something missing that prevents me from truly wanting to return. One thing that struck me was a sense of loneliness. The location is secluded, which may appeal to some people. Thankfully, they provide a shuttle service.. However, the pools all looked the same, lacking a standout resort-style area. Everything seemed rather ordinary. I believe what's lacking is that extra "Wow" factor. The beds were average, and truthfully I was disappointed with them. However, I did like the deep bathtubs. I made sure to indulge in a relaxing bath every night. And obviously, the views were undeniably stunning. The scenery on the patio was amazing. Overall, my disappointment stemmed from the place feeling desolate. It lacks the vibrant personality that one expects from a resort. It comes across as secluded and uneventful. While I wouldn't rule out a return visit entirely, it's unlikely. The hotel is average, and I had anticipated a more exciting resort-like experience.

Douglas L.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, great views, clean and food is very good, typical pricey tourist prices, and rooms dated and patio furniture in the rooms is bad, but otherwise a solid four stars.

Alexandra W.

Yelp
The positives: - Valet and front desk staff were friendly and helpful!!! - Gift shop was nice - both service and selection of goods. - Lobby area is comfortable and casual dining by patio and fire pits was relaxing and spacious! - The gelato and F&B cafe / market had a great selection of goods. - The movie nights and planned activities are great for families! - The pools and pool director we're enjoyable/fun! The negatives: - Security staff was abrasive and rude towards me for having our service dog poolside (we were minding our business watching our daughter swim and play when the woman approached us and asked us to leave with the dogs!) - Dog-friendly hotel but we were out in a room far away from relief areas. - Upon arrival, our Hotel room did not have power to lamps, clock, A/C etc. maintenance had to be done to the neighboring room due to power outage /reset. - Rooms are very dated from - 1980s. - Signage advertises Tennis Courts, but there are none as they converted to Pickelball (ugh)! I'm a tennis player and biased. - Maintenance was working EARLY on the floor above our room and woke us up at 7am Saturday! (We thought we were below the Fitness Center with all the noise and banging).

Yelp
We went and stayed the weekend for my birthday. The location was breathtaking it was so beautiful but it was a little disappointing...our refrigerator never worked and our shower didn't drain well so water pooled around my feet while showering which I didn't like. It's very quiet and their curtains are true blackout so we did get very good rest. We stayed in building 5 which is furthest from the lobby and about a 5-7 min walk so be prepared

Yelp
The Sea Spa is Amazing! I came here in celebration of my birthday and a celebration was had. I had the pleasure of having Dorian as my massage therapist. She was very helpful in finding out areas to focus on and provided outstanding customer service and a very memorable and refreshing experience. Also Jade from hospitality was amazing and she was very considerate about my birthday. As I was being pampered down in the spa I returned to a beautiful note and a lovely bottle of wine to add to the evening. I lightly mentioned my birthday during check-in yesterday and it was such a sweet surprise. 10/10 definitely will return!

Yelp
3 1/2 stars I'd say! Pros: Customer service. Everyone who works here is so nice! Serves local beers and food. Special location. It's remote but nice to have water on both sides. Cons: pet fee $150! Wtf? Is this a normal pet fee? Not a deposit. A fee. The cocktails at the pool bar seemed weak. Pool is not that warm. I didn't go in because water was too chilly.

Yelp
Your staff is clueless and loves to transfer you to a voicemail where no one answers the phone or call back. Waste of my time and poor customer service. Maybe teach your staff the basics cause no one can answer direct questions.

Yelp
Musky smell, overpriced , horrible customer service. I left behind my expensive electric toothbrush in the bathroom and after calling twice , the only response was that " nothing was returned from that room " . Horrible old fashion decor , and did I mention " overpriced " ? I would compare this hotel with a motel 6 and maybe motel 6 would have a better service .

Yelp
This review is specifically for the spa. I got the "Pacific Perfection package" as a gift for someone. She really enjoyed the massage and the facial. She really loved the spa facility. I will definitely be getting this for her again.

Yelp
It was okay there was nothing todo the sower was small and the bathroom was okay for size and the bed was damp

Yelp
Came out for cocktails and bar food on the patio. A server was frequently going in and out but never came to our table . We had to go inside to get our own drinks. After our third time going inside, the bartenders advised that they have service.outside. We advised them of the situation. A manager should've came out to help the situation but failed to do so. Nice ambiance but poor service.

Yelp
The property is stunning and gorgeous here. Beautiful spaces all over to enjoy the bay and the boats, etc. The amenities all have the same gorgeous water views. It's very serene. Great location. It seems like most of the rooms have the same pretty sights as well. There's even a small balcony to enjoy it. That's about the only nice thing I can say about the room. These rooms need major TLC and better cleaning. The bathrooms are stained all over, water leaks out of the shower, the shower has someone else's hair (as does the sink), the shower floor has weird stains, there are gnat like bugs all around the water sources, and the toilet floor area has "splash" marks on the floor. The carpets are not clean. The walls are smudged and downright filthy. I'm actually disgusted being in this room. The fitness center is ok, plenty of the basics, but it's also dated and machines need some upkeep. The spa employees were cold, but everyone else has been nice. The pool area looks super fun and clean. In good faith, due to cleanliness, I can't go higher than 2 stars.

Yelp
The hotel is a bit far from Coronado downtown, but it does boast a fantastic view of the bay. However, the building we were assigned to was quite a distance from the lobby, making for a long walk. The room comes across as a tad dated and could definitely use some extra cleaning. Unfortunately, the bed didn't provide the comfort I was hoping for, leading to a rather restless night of sleep. On top of that, the self-parking fees of $45 struck me as completely absurd.

Yelp
Long time frequenter of the Loews, first time reviewer. I have a lot of love for this place, so many good memories, and couldn't imagine giving it any less than five stars no matter any quirks. Cays people, boat people, local staycationers, and out-of-towers collide. Is it perfect? No. But the good definitely outweighs the bad ... especially for families. They have so much to offer-between dive-in movies in summer, pickleball courts, life-size connect-four and chess, nice gym, boats and surreys for rent, etc. The menus are ever-changing and recently for the better. Special shout out to the cays lounge peeps who keep this place running and are always at the top of their game - Bobby, Courtney, and George. I wish they had a loyalty program. Please bring back the pizza port-chronic

Yelp
Black Mold was found in my room! Not only was this a threat to my health and my children's health but similar cultures were found in our replacement room. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was dismissed. The cleanliness and upkeep at this hotel is abhorrent, the management is absent, and worst of all the health standards do not meet minimum requirements. Not worth a single cent!

Yelp
Great hotel, loved the pool area and their bar and snacks. Clean, well taken care of and located in a really nice area of Coronado. I also really really appreciate that they brought me water to my room at 11pm at night when I asked.

Yelp
Loved my stay here. I was here on a business trip but I will be joining back for leisure soon. The staff was great The bar was excellent The restaurants and gift shops were on point The little store (I forgot the name) could use more snack options for smackers / kiddos. The rooms are nice and clean ! (Cleaned daily, be kind and leave the room service providers a tip, they worked their butts off) Very beautiful setup. My favorite part of the room has to be the bathroom ( I'm a sucker for a nice bubble bath)

Yelp
We have stayed here twice. The first time we were given an upgrade to the presidential suite. The room was amazing. The second time we came for 4th of a July. It was for our daughter's graduation gift and for our anniversary. I asked if there were any other rooms available to upgrade but they were sold out. We came back to the room and were greeted by cards, champagne, macarons, chocolate covered strawberries and a gift for our daughter as well. We will continue to come to this hotel for holidays. All of the staff are so kind and welcoming. The hotel and grounds are well kept and clean. They have fun shows and activities for kids as well.

Yelp
This resort was beautiful and this experience was overall peaceful. The customer service was excellent. I was a little disappointed in the outdated room due to the cost of the room. The rest of the resort was outstanding however, I wasn't there for pickleball or a pool full of other guests. I did enjoy walking around to see the marina but do think a remodel to the room is necessary. Also, our room was a connecting room and we could hear our neighbors having a domestic dispute early morning which disrupted our sleep as we were planning an 8 hour travel day.

Yelp
I was accompanying a friend on her work conference that was hosted at the resort. The resort was beautiful! We enjoyed the balcony off our room and the pools the most. We spent a lot of time in and around the pools while we were visiting. The food catered for the conference was delicious. The hotel offers a shuttle to the busier areas of the island. The beach near the hotel was closed when I visited in October 2023.

Yelp
A diamond in the rough! What a cute, hidden spot in south Coronado. Safe, gated entrance and underground parking. Multiple swimming pools (could use some improvements in the Jacuzzis as it was packed like a can of sardines the entire visit). The lobby/entrance has gorgeous 180* views of the bridge and city, and the room and bathroom was very spacious and comfortable. I loved having the balcony available to use at any time, and with how stale hotel air can get, having the ability to source fresh air so easily was a game changer. The bed was the perfect crossover between soft/firm, and the bathroom sink had plenty of sink space. TV choices were also decent with a good amount of channels! Would def stay here again.

Yelp
So after the manager found out about the glass - they went above and beyond to try and make up for it. Originally I was disappointed, but only spoke to guest services. When the manager found out - he went straight to action.

Yelp
When my husband, good friend and I decided we were going to stay down in San Diego I was excited to see a Loews hotel that was reasonably priced and in the perfect location! I have stayed at other Loews properties before and expected the same great costumer service. Don't get me wrong the staff is friendly but they DONT DO WHAT YOU ASK and are not as accommodating as you would expect for a resort at this caliber. My party and I arrived at 1:00 (long before check in) and I asked the front desk if there was any way I could check in early and also get a hide-away bed in our room. On the reservation it clearly listed 3 adults and somehow we where booked in a room with a king bed but the staff said that getting a hide-away was not a problem and that my room was not ready yet but that they would "expedite" the cleaning process so we could check in sooner than 4. She let me know that when the room was ready she would send me a text and let me know that I could check Because it seemed our room would be ready in short amount of time we decided to park the car and hang out in the lobby bar area until I received a text telling me our room was ready. Waiting... waiting... it gets to be 2:30 and I decided to go back up to the front desk to see if our room was ready. The same employee that assured me that we would be checked in long before 4:00 then told me that our room was "being worked on right now" but that because check in was not until 4:00 I may not receive a text saying that it is ready until then. Before leaving the desk I expressed AGAIN that we needed a hide-away and she assured me that when the room was ready a hide-away would be delivered. Finally 4:00 rolls around and I was able to check in after waiting in the check in line for the third time. During my check in process the staff confirmed AGAIN that they would bring us a hide-away bed so that our whole party could be accommodated. When we get into the room.... No hide away. From the room we called the front desk and asked for them to send one up. They said that one was "on its way" but that we did not need to wait around for it so we left the room and enjoyed our evening in San Diego. When we got back for the night... NO HIDE-AWAY! My husband called the desk again and they where shocked that it had not been delivered.. but assured us one was "on the way". I stayed up till 2:30 am waiting for a knock on the door and it never came. My friend was left to seep in the CHAIR in our room. It is now a solid 14 hours later and we are still waiting for the hide-away that is "on its way". I love Lowes but I wish this location had the same standards of guest care that any reasonable hotel brand would have. I mean if you can't provide a bed for your guests... yikes. I will not stay here again and I hope that the lost hide-aways are found

Yelp
I had a work conference which was at Loews in Coronado Bay and quite frankly one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at. I checked in early and my room was not ready for me but they found me another room and provided a really good welcome cocktail. The pools are heated all year long with two hot tubs. They also have tons of towels to use and even cover your lounge chair with. The cantina outside was perfect with frozen blended drinks I love. The views are amazing! With the ocean and beach and the other side of the marina. The room was so cute with a huge lounge chair and office setup and then the bathroom was huge with a really low soaking tub and two of the softest bath robes. Depending what building your room is in, you may have to walk a little far but I had a truly amazing experience. The employee that cleaned my room did an exceptional job and even organized all my stuff which I have actually never seen before. You can check in and out from from your phone which I am all about convenience. I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Loews is a five-plus star resort in Coronado. A piece of heaven, a respite from ordinary life. Sumptuous rooms with glorious views of the bay. Luxury to ridiculous heights. Superb pools and hot tub. Fitness center and spa too. Fantastic bar-lounge with terrific drinks. Restaurant is delish. Grab and Go Coffee-Breakfast stand: Easy and casual. Rent a bike or a boat. Bring binoculars and do some birdwatching. Walk to the beach. Go to Coronado and walk around town. Really nice manners here. Well trained staff! Expensive, but worth it. I feel rejuvenated after a night here. Save your money and go for a 24-hour getaway.

Yelp
Used Hotels.com, they double books my room, and Loews refused to help, had to deal with what seemed like 300 small children and their parents who were there for a beach clib soccer event put on by the resort. Which translated into a resort catered to the families, and my wife and I were an afterthought. Right from check-in, where we were never offered the "special" complimentary drink of the resort to the invisible manager who refused to help with the double booking. Now let's move to the room which I paid extra for, pool view, 3rd floor, room smelled, fridge dirty, patio door hanlde broken, shower would fill up with water and not drain. Patio furniture appears to never have been cleaned and rips in fabric. Now the soccer crowd, who had the run of the resort, and by run I mean children funning everywhere and screaming nonstop so bad that we could hear them through closed doors from 3rd floor from the pool area. Then, in hallways until 11 pm. This place isn't cheap and charges price like a 4star+ place, but it's run like a children's zoo. Even staff confided that they normally take off during this event because of how poorly they get treated. Hotels.com cancelled my double booking but, of course Loews charged me over $250 for the booking. Couldn't enjoy the amenities due to children using withput parental supervision and no resort staff to keep things civil. Resort Bus to downtown was a plus so you could get away from the resort. My wife and I just wanted to get away for a nice weekend, would have helped had the resort been helpful and understanding instead of the oh well too bad attitude. We will NEVER stay there again.

Yelp
What a disappointment! Was here 15 years ago and always thought of this resort as special! Maybe they're stull experiencing a post pandemic hangover! We arrive at 11am and room not ready...not a problem as we guessed it wouldn't be.... front desk tries to talk me into upgrading to a suite...tells me she'll give me very special low rate of +$210 / night on top of a $275 night rate. How much was my very special rate? I would have saved a whopping $10/night. Said no thanks and she completely changed her attitude... we said we'll check our bags and come back. Don't know why she said "I'll put a rush on your room and you will be the 1st one done....4 hours later we get a text telling us how excited they are that the room was ready. Our room was nice, so glad we did'nt "upgrade" - ok, at 6pm we wanted to have dinner. This is a huge resort and they only have one restaurant open. We stopped by and NO ONE was eating...realize it's early, but we decided to pass. We waited for the shuttle..it showed up 7 minutes late and we were told "I'm going on break".... 15 min later the staff drives us downtown in a suv! Super nice and we we're grateful. In the morning we wanted to sit outside and have coffee. They have these nice fire pits. The nice side of the area was taken over by a convention group...very nice for them. We had a small area that was a little beaten up. All of the fire pits were broken or staff could not light. They then said we can try the overhead heater...they made noice, but didn't work either. Kind of looking like a broken down hotel. Went to the crown landing - food was ok, but both steaks served were medium to medium well. Both asked for medium rare. So tough and really not that good. But it was the service that was so disappointing- she was MIA...we went looking for drinks! We also had to hunt her down to get the check and then had to hunt her down again to take our credit card. They were busy...but at the time we're finished it was about 1/3 full. Went to the gym although appears clean, had old equipment that looked less than reliable. It worked. Sorry to say this was not a great stay....people were mostly friendly...some not so much.

Yelp
Consumerism abounds. It's a beautiful place folks but you're gonna pay for it. I write this review after staying for four days. The people are nice (staff) but quick to up charge for almost anything. We were told parking would be free but were up charged $47 a day. At this point we didn't want to return our rental car as Uber is expensive on Coronado Island. I'll keep this short. Outrageous food and drink prices ($10 candy bars) 3drinks three snacks $150. Poolside. No microwave. Hence, my cold dinner last night. I won't be visiting this place again.

Yelp
Massive dog poop just outside our hotel room door; not cool and not the dog's fault. Disgusted.

Yelp
Stayed here for a week for a conference. My room was lacking in cleanliness and there was a musty order to the rug in the room. There were stains on the seitchlights, the pillows had a layer of dust on them, the shower stall had pink and black mold in the tiles and the toilet seat had a dried urine stain on it. On my last night, I awoke at 4:30 a.m. because I felt something crawling on me and found a swarm of baby ants all over my pillow. I quickly showered, dressed and grabbed my items. The attendant at the front apologized and switched my room. I could not peacefully wait until my checkout and checked out early. The attendant this morning only offered an apology, " I'm sorry you experienced that and hopefully it never happens again." I don't recommend this resort.

Yelp
Our stay at this respite was solid. Really clean and beautiful property. Nice rooms! Great amenities like the pool, restaurant, games and beach activities. It's is quite isolated from the rest of the island and San Diego but it was still great.
