Best Restaurants in the Domain in Austin | Eater Austin

"The second location of the popular Asian/barbecue joint restaurant from Austin celebrity chefs Tyson Cole (Uchi/Uchiko) and Aaron Franklin (Franklin Barbecue) serves up boozy frozen bevs (gin and tonic slushee, anyone?), smoked meats, and plenty of flair. Order the Domain-only items, like the crispy Thai pork ribs, sake can half-chicken, double smash burger, and Dole Whip soft serve. Designed to reflect the convivial atmosphere of Texas dance halls, this new space prioritizes communal warmth, much like the original." - Darcie Duttweiler

Loro - Review - The Domain - Austin - The Infatuation

"The Domain is home to Austin’s second location of Loro, the Japanese BBQ fusion restaurant. Only time will tell if the South Lamar spot’s fun energy will translate to the city’s fanciest shopping center. At least the menu is mostly the same. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Stopped by early on a Saturday evening and was seated after a short wait. The atmosphere was lively and energetic. The ordering process is a bit unique — you scan a QR code and place your order at the bar — but Joshua kindly took our orders at the table, which was a nice touch. We started with the chicken karaage (7/10), followed by the Loro cheeseburger (6/10), the Loro Caesar salad (5/10), and the crispy smoked chicken sandwich (8/10). The cheeseburger was a bit underwhelming — it lacked tomatoes and felt a bit plain with just lettuce and cheese. On the other hand, the crispy smoked chicken sandwich was flavorful and well done. We finished with the vanilla Vietnamese coffee caramel soft serve and a chocolate chip cookie — both were excellent (10/10). Overall, the service was fantastic — Joshua was helpful and friendly — and the atmosphere was great. While some dishes didn’t quite hit the mark for me, I’m looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu.

While the food was tasty - it was overpriced and the experience of eating here was anxiety-inducing. There are tables inside and outside and we waited for an inside table. I overheard that the bar inside was open seating and nobody was sitting at the bar. This restaurant experience was one of my least favorite in a long time. Instead of ordering at your table or over your phone -- you get in one of two lines near the register to order and pay. Even though there were clearly 2 lines - they only had one register open and they were taking a *very* long time for each order. The taste of the food was overshadowed by this ordering experience. Why have 2 lines and only 1 register open? Why have lines at all? why not just allow me to order at my table from a QR code like any other restaurant that doesn't have a server take your order. Prices are high for the food you're getting. I don't think it's worth spending the money for this level of quality and experience. I'd rather eat elsewhere.

Had lunch here with my wife and daughter on a busy Saturday afternoon. This trendy spot blends Texas BBQ with Asian influences—an interesting concept. I ordered the curry chicken, while my wife and daughter split a hamburger with fries. We also shared chips and queso. Overall, the food was good, but I was hoping for a bit more flavor and creativity given the fusion theme. The queso and curry chicken were decent, but not especially memorable, and my family felt the same about the burger. It was very crowded, and with the Texas humidity, we opted to wait about 30 minutes for an indoor table. Once inside, it was clean but quite loud, and service was just okay—not bad, but not standout either. The crowd was young and trendy, definitely more of a hangout spot for adults than a place for families with kids. Parking is available in a nearby garage, but expect to walk a bit. If you’re already at The Domain, it’s worth a try—but come expecting a lively vibe more than a culinary adventure.

The atmosphere is laid-back but stylish — perfect for a casual dinner that still feels special. The flavors here are bold and unexpected in the best way. I didn’t try a single dish I didn’t like, and the portions are generous too. Great spot for sharing plates, catching up with friends, or just treating yourself. Solid 8/10 — I’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Google
I really like the Loro Domain location. Plenty of seats & quite efficient. My only beef is that my while the brisket in my sandwich is good, why are the buns cold & soggy when served? My suggestion would be to toast the buns so to make the BBQ sandwich better. Overall I would still recommend. My whole group enjoyed hanging out here. The drinks are good

Google
I’m a sucker for Asian fusion restaurants and Loro is a great example of Asian fusion done well! Everything we got was tasty and appropriate portions vs the price but wanted to shoutout the wonton chips and salsa. That Thai salsa is one of the BEST flavors of dips I’ve ever had and I would come back here just to drink that. We also received amazing service from Peach who took the time to go through the menu and drinks with us and gave awesome recommendations. This is our new go to spot in the domain!

Google
Solid food spot. Most dishes were good. The ribs were probably the best of everything we tried. The queso fundido was also delicious and had to get another serving. Recommend visiting and depending on when you go, reservations are encouraged. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Very clean and vibe is fun to be at.

Google
Everything was great but I'm trying to only give 5 stars for exceptional. We had no problem sitting down and food came out timely. It was odd my son's pulled pork came out much later than my wife and my food. Everything was good and the chicken sandwich was our favorite. Would definitely go again. A bit pricey but not terrible. The corn fritters were also great no picture because they were gone so fast.

Yelp
Asian fusion done right, which is rare for Austin. I went for their Happy Hour and sampled their Mango slush cocktail, queso, and smoked salmon dip -- all of which were tasty. The discounted prices were the cherry on top. I could not taste any alcohol from the cocktail and that's the way I like it. Very dangerous though... As for the dips, I could taste the Asian influence from both, though I unfortunately cannot tell you how. Just trust me because I'm Asian lol. I was a little worried the smoked salmon dip would have an overpowering fishy taste, but it was very subtle and had the perfect amount of umami. Next time, I want to try their entrees. I'm sure it will be just as much, if not more, of a flavor bomb than the few appetizers and drinks I tried.

Yelp
It was just okay but I'm hoping it's because this location is new. Giving 4 stars because I'm hoping they will make adjustments. Everything we ate was Just ok. Not much service either. We had a Double Smash Burger and Malaysian Chicken bowl. Guess we will try something else if we go here again.

Yelp
Corner lot, lots of parking. Happy hour was great. We had all the appetizers. Recommending the Vietnamese coffee with bourbon. You line up to order. Excellent atmosphere though it does get louder. The outside bar/set up was nice. One of the dishes, the chips were stale or not cooked right, the server replaced them. Amazing service. I had free dessert for mine and anotherr ladies' birthday.

Yelp
Overall: 3.7/5 [delivery] We ordered from Postmates and the food was packaged nicely. Crispy Chicken Sandwich ($13.95): This sandwich came with citrus-cabbage slaw, pickles, hot honey, and smoked hot sauce. They put the slaw and hot honey sauce on the side, but even after adding the slaw and dipping the sandwich in the sauce, it felt deconstructed and didn't quite come together. I think the slaw would have been better mixed with mayo instead of citrus, which didn't complement the chicken well. Unfortunately, the chicken itself was dry and lacked flavor. Char Siew Pork Belly Bowl ($16.50): The pork belly was phenomenal but the portion size was small for the price, especially in contrast to the crispy chicken sandwich. There was barely any rice so they covered the bowl with a layer of veggies instead. The sauce it came with was really good and paired well with the fresh veggies.

Yelp
We stopped in here as it is fairly new to the DOMAIN while we were just walking around and killing time until we went to That Burger. So here we just got drinks but the menu looks interesting. We didn't have to wait to be seated but they was a steady crowd. They had two outside seating areas and a large inside seating area with large tables, booths, and the bar. They have physical and QR code menus. Shana ordered the Vietnamese coffee and I got a Mango Sake frozen drink. The initial set up is a bit unusual in that the first thing or things you order you head to the front and the cashiers. You place your first order and had we gotten food, you get a puck/pager then I don't know if you go get the food or they bring it to you but I think it is the latter. Any follow up orders are done through the waitstaff. As we just got drinks they made them right after I ordered them and I brought them to table. There is a fountain set up for water and soda. The place was very nice and still new. The staff was friendly and we are curious about the Asian/BBQ mix so we will return for food.

Yelp
If you didn't know, Loro is a love child between Franklin and Uchi - two culinary power houses. The result is fusion Asian Texas BBQ. We went to Loro Domain on a Sunday evening and it was not too crowded, but have heard it can get pretty crowded during other weekend times. The set up: you'd order at the front then find a table, unless you sit at the bar then it's full service. There are tables outside, so once the weather gets better there will be more seatings. The food: I've had Loro before both at another location and catered into my office. Food items are generally tasty. The cashew cabbage salad is always good, street corn can be bland at times. This time around we tried the ribs since that's a special for Sunday. Would want to come back to try the ramen at some point. Brisket was okay. Steak and Malaysian chicken were good in the past when we got their catering. The bowls are also a good way to try their food. We also tried the chocolate crème brûlée this time and it was pretty decent. The vibe: casual, mostly self-service. Overall, we'd come back from time to time likely for the bowls.

Yelp
This places lives up to the hype. Apparently there's a location in South Austin, so yay for a North Location! Great indoor and outdoor sitting, ordering process a bit confusing at first, but then we figured it out. You order inside and then you get seated, they bring the food to ya! For it being opening week, we didn't run into issues of getting seated or waiting a long time for a food, so bonus points there. I got the ribs and they were out of this world delicious. I think it's enough to share with another person. I also ordered a side of the crispy potatoes which were amazing and of good portion and a rum-horchata piña colada which wasn't my favorite but still ok! The meal of course was on the pricier side as I expected it to be, but I think it was all worth it. You're also right in the middle of The Domain so it made sense. Can't wait to come back and try the brisket!

Yelp
I LOVE the Dallas location so was super excited to be in Austin and try their location here. Had the sweet corn which was addicting. The smoked salmon dip was creamy and had perfectly seasoned chips. The cheeseburger was delicious and juicy. All around a stellar place

Yelp
Stunned, shocked, surprised... at how long it took us to try Loro. We live up in North Austin so having this location in the Domain is convenient and welcomed! I'll say this after the first visit, Loro is the best restaurant in the Domain by far. Best bang for your buck, it's almost a steal how good each dish was for how much it cost. I will crave the pork belly, dream about it. The char siu flavoring and delicious fattiness combo is heavenly. The sesame noodles were light and paired well with the saltiness of the karaage and pork. The karaage was definitely more thai/sweet chili inspired which paired nicely with the more savory mayo. Lastly, the brocollini was cooked to perfection, great seasoning and sauce. I know the year has only begun, but Loro Domain is definitely my favorite restaurant of 2025, so far.

Yelp
Loro opening up in the domain is great. It adds a new restaurant to go to that is in between a chill spot and a fancy spot. You order at the bar and they bring the food out to your table. They have a lot of options and the fusion between Japanese inspired cuisine and BBQ is a nice combo and pairs well together. The downside is the wait time when wanting to dine there. They don't take reservations, so if you go (and there isn't bar seating available) you'll be waiting at least 45 min on average.

Yelp
I 10/10 would recommend this place for Happy Hour! They have great drinks for $5 (Boozy Frozens). I got the Vietnamese Coffee - very good. It's a little strong but has a great coffee flavor. The wings were also delicious. Great flavor with the perfect amount of spice. The ramen was not my favorite. It was not spicy and did not have much of a curry taste. The shrimp was tasty though. The edamame was okay but I would skip. Good flavor but it wasn't as tender as I would've liked. The service was great. Very speedy, especially for it being a new establishment (and we were a large table). Everyone was very nice too! I defiantly check out Loro! Happy to have another great place for HH in the Domain.

Yelp
They've perfected the fast casual dining experience and made it into an art form. The fusion of Asian and BBQ dishes works extremely well. This location is just as good as the South one. The Double smash burger was outstanding and is easily one of the best in town. The Corn fritters are addictive to eat as are the crispy Wontons. Everything about these dishes is unique and representative of what you will find on the rest of the menu. Interesting and innovative takes on dishes. The fusion of different culinary elements is executed well. Service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
I got the Malaysian Curry Chicken, never had one before but I think this dish is great. Chicken braised in coconut milk and spices; delicious and tender. The side sauce can be overpowering(fish sauce in it I think). I really like the crispy potatoes, there was this sauce at the bottom with umami flavor, I wish there's more. The dip for wonton chips was a bit salty. I wasn't a fan of waiting outside to get in and then wait another line to order.

Yelp
I met a friend/colleague for lunch here this week. It's the first time I'd been to this location and was glad to see it took over what used to be The Park I think. It was easy to share entrees and they had a wide variety of options to choose from. We tried salmon, pork, and veggie options. They brought the items out as they were ready using a disc number system. It was easy to access the drinks. We sat in the outside heated patio area which was nice. The only suggestion I have is to make sure the music is at a level where people can hear each other. We did ask them to turn it down in the patio area which I think they did but then soon it was very full with people so the combo of music and lots of people made it a bit difficult to hear someone sitting across the table from you. I will definitely be trying this place again!

Yelp
Very delicious but on the pricy side! Waited about 15 minutes on a Friday night. Got seated and then went to the counter to order. We got the pork belly, chicken Karage, smoked butchers cut, and the yuzu spritz. The pork belly was cold but the flavor was there. I LOVED the butchers cut but portion felt small. However the karage was my favorite. Portion was great and it was crispy. The yuzu cocktail was delicious was well. There are servers walking around who you could order more with. Everyone was very friendly. Plenty of parking in the domain garages nearby.

Yelp
I always wanted to go to the south location first but randomly decided to give this a try while we were walking around the Domain. In general, I am very skeptical of expansion as it tends to ruin places (and then worse, being acquired by a large public restaurant group or private equity). Anyway, I despised the previous place, The Park for a few reasons. The location is terrible and always has guys trying to be cool by driving by fast and loud, and secondly, the outdoor area has a couple of sewer manholes and related infrastructure right under it. So as you can imagine, central Texas tends to be on the warm side, so that's not pleasant. And, it seems like they didn't do anything to the outside area really, like slapped a new sign over it and it wasn't particularly clean or seem what a 6 day old restaurant would look or feel like. So those are some of the negatives, but I thought the inside was beautiful and has such a cool decor to it. The food, while not brought out in a good order, I thought was great. Loved the smashburger - like really awesome and thoughts pork ribs and potatos were also very good. However, they did run out of brisket, which for a "smokehouse" in Austin probably isn't a good idea. I get they have to work out some kinks and stuff, but it seems like this might have been rushed. I'd return and grab a smashburger for sure, but I am more excited to go to the South Austin location. Would not bring friends/family to this spot or highly recommend it. I guess this review reads more like worse than a 4 star, but it's probably 3.49 stars rounding up to 3.5 and rounding up to 4 stars, because it's December 30, 85 degrees and sunny and I am just in one heck of a loving Texas mood. But note to Loro: You're better than this. Before you try to expand and wrap this in a nice little bow to sell to a restaurant group...get this place in order. Don't ruin something that could be and is really great.

Yelp
Ahh the anticipation I've been eagerly awaiting to finally see Loro open its doors up north! I've always wanted to mosey over but since I'm a northern gal, from downtown to Northwest Austin is where you'll catch me. Enter Loro, making their presence known in the Domain, and taking over the space where the Park used to be. And what a space it is! I stopped by for their soft opening as they get their flow and processes in play prior to official launch, but they didn't miss a beat! I brought coworkers along and we got a mix of cocktails, meals and an assortment of eats. The service was top notch, friendly faces and excellent food and top tier taste. I love the lunch two step offering, as I work hybrid in the office and when I'm in the office, this is such a great space to dine and have an excellent tasting meal without breaking the bank! The bbq and smoked meats offering smelled and looked divine, but my true passion is the Asian fusion dishes and they did not disappoint. I'm not a vegetarian/vegan, but their tofu entree rice bowl took me for a ride, and goodness I can't wait to return to order it all over again. Loro, you are phenomenal and I am so thrilled along with many others in north ATX for your arrival and opening and can't wait to return for many more tasty meals and happy hours. The nest egg swing chairs and the patio was so inviting, and slushy drinks? Say no more. Another visit awaits, very soon! :)

Yelp
We ended up at the domain and saw Loro was open so we stopped in for lunch. First the place is beautiful and huge! I hope they'll have enough staff for when the place is full. We were welcomed and able to order right away, it is counter order only at Loro. We were here during HH and took advantage of it! I had the 2 for lunch deal and got a fried chicken sandwich and ginger slaw. Holy mother of god it was good!! The chicken was cooked to perfection! It had a spicy sauce that I didn't expect but I loved it. The ginger slaw was also incredible! We did start with the edamame and it is by far the best we've had. We didn't eat it all and got a to go box but forgot it there :( My husband had the large slaw with curry chicken and it was fire! I definitely will keep Loro in our regular rotation of restaurants. It is so delicious!

Yelp
Okay-ish First Visit, Looking Forward to a Second Try. My husband and I visited LORO on a whim, and while our experience was a bit mixed, we're open to giving it another shot. For now, I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5. The Food: We started with the queso, but it lacked flavor in my opinion. I didn't notice the furikake, and the chips tasted pretty bland. For our main dishes, we tried the pork belly rice bowl and the curry shrimp rice bowl. The pork belly bowl was flavorful and enjoyable, but the shrimp bowl was disappointing. It seemed like there was too much going on--coconut rice, curry shrimp, sweet cabbage, and large clumps of cilantro--it just didn't come together as I'd hoped. The Drinks: One highlight of the menu was the drink selection. As an expecting mom, I appreciated their alcohol-free cocktail section. The drinks I tried were delicious and thoughtfully crafted. The Atmosphere: The restaurant layout felt familiar, as it's located in the former space of The Park. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and you seat yourself after ordering at the station. While the staff was friendly during our brief interactions, it's not a traditional full-service setup. If you need anything, you'll need to head back to the front or to the self-service station for plates and silverware. The TVs make it a great spot for catching a game, and the space was clean and inviting. Overall: While the dishes we tried weren't impressive, the affordability of the menu and the appealing drink options make us want to return. LORO seems to specialize in other items that we didn't get to try this time, and we're optimistic about giving it another go in the future.

Yelp
This was my first time here and the choices looked great. I went for the smoked salmon plate. It was served in a bowl. Unfortunately it took about 15 minutes longer than the other four entrees for my party of five. The salmon was overly dry even though it was swimming in a bowl of sauce. Everyone else enjoyed their sandwiches and curry chicken. The staff was great and very helpful.

Yelp
Went for happy hour on a nice day! Plenty of fun outdoor seating but a slow moving outdoor bar. The servers were fun and nice. Enjoyed the different apps but the smoked shishito queso with brisket stole the show! Loved the almost wonton flavored chips with the salmon dip. There's no ranch for the wings which was tough. The mango sake was delish and would be even better on a hot day!
google avatar

Michelle V.

Yelp
So excited there is a north location near me now!! We love Loro! This location has some classic recipes and a couple of different things we haven't tried before. We got the shishito queso - so delicious!! Must get shareable We also tried the brisket and Thai chili ribs I personally loved the brisket! Comes with pickled red onions and basil and mint - truly delicious!! Must order item! My fiancée loved the Thai chili ribs - they were crispy and had a yummy sweet chili sauce on them - they are fried as well vs regular ribs. We also ordered the crispy potatoes and the sesame noodles - we stand by the sesame noodles always and the crispy potatoes were amazing - we have never tried them before but I can't stop thinking about them! You order at the bar / front then find a table and get a buzzer and they bring it all out to you! Service was quick too! All of our food came out in less than 20 minutes The decor and patio is so nice! Huge outdoor space and plenty of indoor seating as well. Love the mango sake slush - my favorite frozen in town! Also we got two cookies and warmed them up at home and some of the best cookies we've had lowkey lol

Yelp
I had the good fortune to be invited by my friend, a rewards member, to the soft opening of Loro at the Domain. It was worth driving 45 minutes from South Austin at rush hour! My friend, being familiar with the Loro menu, ordered several dishes to split. Having never eaten at Loro on Lamar, I trusted her expertise and was more than okay with all of her choices: - Smoked brisket queso and chips - Smoked butchers cut - Broccolini - Salmon bowl Each dish was delightfully flavorful, smoky (living up to the name "smokehouse") and delicious! The smoked brisket queso was heavenly. The smoked salmon practically melted in my mouth! The broccolini was perfectly roasted and spiced. In short, each dish was a winner! As an extra, my friend requested a dipping sauce, and the waiter quickly brought a generous dish of chimichurri. I am now a big fan of Loro and I'm sure I will return many times. The ambience is modern and welcoming.

Yelp
Grand opening at Loro at the domain today! I am a fan of Loro ever since trying it when they opened in Addison a while back and was excited to see that there is now a location closer to North Austin. The line was super long today but we were towards the front and I am amazed on how quickly our food came out. There is ample seating inside of the restaurant along with patio seating. We sat inside the restaurant but walking out I noticed that the patio was cozier than inside the place. This location differs from the other locations because there are "servers" who come up to you and give you your utensils. They are not assigned to sections or specific tables but rather walk around the restaurant and will come by to ask if there's anything they can grab for you. You still order at the bar first but once you sit down you can scan the QR code and order straight to your table. We got the Loro cheeseburger, crispy smoked chicken, and charred broccolini. They were all great but I think the crispy smoked chicken was my favorite. The cheeseburger has a pretty thick patty so if you are someone who doesn't like their patty pink on the inside keep that in mind! The charred broccolini had great flavor to it and was a great little snack. I personally like their rice bowls here but decided to try something new today.

Yelp
We went for the grand opening at the Domain on Sat 12/21. We love the S Lamar location and wanted to love this location as well; however, there are a few kinks to iron out. (1) corn fritters were very greasy (this is one of our staples at s. Lamar and we know what they should taste like) (2) I ordered a lychee martini and had to ask for it after I finished my meal. I wasn't asked to wait for it (like when we place slushie orders) so I assumed it would be brought to the table. (3) Our food (2 items) was brought out to our table at separate times. I had finished my meal before the corn fritters were delivered for my dining companion. Overall, rating it 4 stars cos I know the potential Loro has.

Yelp
To be fair, I am a mega fan of Hai Hospitality and everything they do usually hits the spot for me. We went during soft opening, grand opening is 12/21/25. The new Loro location did not disappoint. Located in the Domain, close to Neiman Marcus, parking can be challenging. It's best to park in the nearby Pink Garage. Once you get your car situated, head straight to the counter to order and then pick your own seat. Menus at the counter or menu qr codes at the table. This place is about phenomenal Asian inspired bbq. The love child of Aaron Franklin of Franklin's bbq and Tyson Cole of Hai Hospitality (Uchi, Uchiko, Uchiba) - you couldn't ask for better genes. They just started lunch service at both locations, which I am excited to try. Happy hour is a deal, from 2-5pm and really worth it for $5 alcoholic slushes (usually around $15) and decreased appetizer prices and a special HH burger. Speaking of drinks, they are quite creative, I'd recommend the Vietnamese boozy slush. We also want to visit again just to try the ramen special on Tuesdays and Wednesday evenings. For food, I'm partial to the Butchers cut, a tender and perfectly cooked bavette with a shishito salsa verde and pickled onions. Most meats and sandwiches do not come with sides, so ordering the crispy potatoes, coconut rice or corn fritters will round you out. I tried the double smash burger, only at the north location, and it's damn good. My son loved the loro cheeseburger (different than the smashburger),too. A shout out to the curry chicken, it's so so moist (especially for breast meat) and flavorful. If I was going to give any feedback it would be that the queso isn't in a very dippable bowl, it's rather shallow, which also makes it look somewhat sparse in volume. Also, the crispy potatoes need waaaay more of the addictive miso mustard glaze on all of them vs just a drizzle (at both locations). I gotta take this moment to beg Loro to bring back the grilled snap peas, please!! The edamame doesn't hit the same... I also enjoy the turkey with an apricot chutney at the south location but didn't see it on the menu here. That's pretty small stuff, which shows you what is happening here - it's so damn good, I'm just nitpicking, lol. I will be back, over and over. I'm excited to see this location open up north, so I can get my fix regularly. As to be expected with anything Hai Hospitality touches - service is stellar, too!

Yelp
Love that Loro is now at the Domain! Fantastic food, great service and good location. Got a few appetizers and entrees to share with 6 people. Not pictured but the beer can chicken and the karage were fantastic and probably my favorite. The rest of the dishes are a great combination of barbecue with an Asian twist. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I was so happy to eat at the Loro Domain. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. I had the cold noodle salad with curry chicken on top. I usually take leftovers when I eat out but I finished every bite it was unbelievably flavorful. My friend had the salmon rice bowl which didn't disappoint. If you are looking for a yummy place to eat in the Domain this is it!

Yelp
Loro is a great spot for happy hour with good drinks and snacks! Very casual, lots of seating (indoor and patio), decent food and drink deals, and very quick service. I've been to their original S. Lamar location once, but it wasn't worth the drive for me, so I'm happy they opened in the Domain. Personally, I would only come here for their happy hour (it's very popular, and gets busy by 5pm). The food is decent but pricy and nothing to write home about. Unique Asian BBQ fusion - burgers/sandwiches, meats, rice bowls, and specials like ramen and ribs. You order at the bar/counter, get a table number/buzzer, and seat yourself. Everything you need is self-serve: plates, utensils, to-go boxes, fountain drinks. Your food will come out as it's ready (ours came out pretty quickly!). Service is very laidback. If you want to order more, you can either go back to the counter or if you manage to stop a server you can order through them. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, free in any of the Domain parking garages. - Reservations? No, walk-in open seating. Once they get busy I think they start a waitlist at the host stand. - Happy hour? Yes, all day Monday and the rest of the weekdays from 2-6pm. - Specials? Yes, lunch special/deal and ramen available Tues./Wed. and ribs available Sun./Mon. after 4pm. - Dog friendly? Yes, if you sit on the patio. FOOD & DRINK RATINGS: - Frozen gin + tonic (5/5): $5 during happy hour! More than half off reg. pricing. The tastiest boozy slush I've ever had. Actually so good!!! - Smoked shishito queso (3/5): If your palette is clear, you can taste the shishito in this. Pretty good. Chips were a little thick for my taste, and the queso overall was just okay. But not bad for a happy hour deal. I'll probably add brisket next time. - Smoked wings (5/5): These were so good we ordered a 2nd round. Perfectly cooked, have a nice kick, and the miso bleu cheese sauce is awesome! - Smoked salmon dip (3/5): This tastes better than it looks (looks like cat food). It was okay but I probably wouldn't order it again. - Corn fritters (4/5): One of their popular items. Very tasty! Not as boring as they sound. A go-to item for us to order. - Japanese curry ramen (3/5): Pretty disappointing. Honestly just tasted like $1 packet ramen with some spice. The brisket I added was good. Everything else was meh, and for $19 I would definitely not recommend or order again! - Crunchy cabbage salad (2/5): Also meh. It literally is just cabbage. The cucumbers on top were soggy. - Sesame rice noodles (3/5): These are good but very basic and depending on the day/who made them, they can be VERY spicy.

Yelp
I love the South Lamar location but the Domain location could use some work. The hostess sat us at a table and informed us that staff would come by and take our order which was different than we're used to at the other location. 20 minutes goes by and the staff stop by all the surrounding tables except ours. We finally just decided to go order at the counter and again were told that someone would come take our order but even after we went back to the table, we still had to ask flag someone to get any service. Their food wasn't the same quality as we're used to, but I'm willing to give them another chance to work out the kinks of being a new restaurant.

Yelp
It's a nice little spot for a happy hour or meet and greet. The service was ok I think they were still working out kinks. We ordered some chicken wings. They did their job.

Yelp
It was our first time at Loro and on a Sunday around one it was pretty quick service. The hostess was nice and explained we can sit anywhere and scan the QR code for menu items and we would order at the bar once we were ready. We found a seat indoors since the outdoor patio was pretty busy. I enjoyed their drink selection and liked the hibiscus ginger Agua Fresca mixed with lemonade. Very refreshing! The staff also explained that food came out as it was ready. Everything we ordered was well seasoned, very tasty and well proportioned. We ordered way too much but for a first time, we wanted to try as much as possible! The interior was very well lit, and decorated. It would be a great spot for small groups, a date night or girl dinner spot. Our experiance was definitely highlighted by the initial interaction with a server who brought us chips and salsa on the house right as we found a table to sit at. Looking forward to going back and trying the boozy slush flights as the weather warms up!

Yelp
I love the original Loro location downtown and was excited to try the new Domain location. Food and drink quality is about the same, but they're definitely still figuring out their groove in terms of service. Employees are very kind and communicative, but service felt a bit slower than the downtown location

Yelp
While this was not my first time going to Loro (or even my second), this was my first time visiting the new location in the Domain. From a location standpoint, this was an interesting choice. It is in the Domain, but it's on corner (next to the Aloft hotel) that is a bit awkward to get to from most of the popular shops within either of the popular Domain shopping areas. The previous restaurant in this location didn't do very good well. I hope that isn't true for Loro. aal remnants of that previous restaurant are gone and replaced with an interior design that matches the Loro brand very well. I think the two patio locations, while in use on a relatively cold day, should be quite popular in the summer. On this visit with a friend, we decided to make a meal out of a few appetizers. The crunchy, sweet corn fritters were exactly what I expected, crunch, sweet and savory with great spices from the dipping sauce. If you've ever been to Loro, they're just like the original location; an appetizer that has been consistent every time I've gone. This was my first time trying the Oak grilled edamame. I was pleasantly surprised by the seasoning on this edamame. Rather than the typical topping of salt, these are topped with lemon zest, white sesame, and Sriracha powder. I was a little skeptical that I would get any flavor from oak grilling, but there was a subtle smokiness which I truly enjoyed. Next we got the pulled pork tostadas. As one would expect from a smokehouse the pulled pork was superb. I made sure to spread around both the shishito salsa verde, and the crème fraîche to get a little bit with every bite. When you do that in addition to the wonderful crunch of the tortilla, you get sweet and tart and a bit of a tart from that salsa verde. I think this might be one of my new favorites. Finally, we had the queso given the quality of everything else that we ate both in the balance of ingredients how it was prepared and the temperature when it was brought to our table, I was sorely disappointed in the queso. I think this was just a mess up on this particular day. Maybe it got left in the window too long, but the queso had cooled enough that it had a skin on it, and the chips were unevenly prepared some of them tasting stale. I personally think that maybe the queso needs to be served in a different vessel to help it hold the temperature for longer so that it can be enjoyed when it's brought to the table. Overall, this was a good experience. I do recommend this location and look forward to having a location much more convenient for me to visit and explore more of their menu. If you're popping in to just grab a bite at Laura and not do a lot of shopping I suggest parking in the pink garage or the red garage and walking directly from there. Do try it out because it seems like this location will have the same quality as the original

Yelp
So this is what happens when Uchi and Franklin's BBQ have a baby! Loro was a unique experience and menu. I typically like fusion food but have a harder time messing with BBQ. There are some things that I think shouldn't be fused but it wasn't a horrible experience. The Sake Can chicken (half chicken) was nicely presented and the crispy potatoes were delicious but I had to take half home because it was too much food (always a nice thing for a 2nd meal). The only downside was that my meal didn't come out until my dining partner had completely finished his meal. No big deal, first day opening, I'm sure they will get better!

Yelp
I was hoping this place was as good as the one on south Lamar, but was very disappointing. We arrived during lunch time on Saturday. It took about 20 minutes to get seated. There was a long line going outside. Then I had to get in another long line to order food. Food that was not worth the wait. We got the queso with brisket. The chips tasted old and stale. You could tell the queso had been sitting out for a while. But it was tasty. I ordered the rice bowl with beef. The beef was horrible. Very dry. It was hard to cut through. The rice was good. My niece ordered the burger, which was good but salty. Will definitely not go again considering it's too pricey for the quality of food.

Yelp
It's a casual restaurant in south Austin. Typical Austin country hipster vibe, which I like. Asian cuisine fused with Tex mex and central Texas cuisine. Self service, you order at the bar, but your order is brought to your table. I recommend it for lunch or a casual get together with friends.

Yelp
I have tried the Loro in South Austin long time ago and thought it was pretty good so I was excited to see the Domain was getting one also. I dont recall what we got previously to say the menu is the same, but the setup is the same. You grab a menu and order at the counter, they give you a pager to put on your table and they bring the food out to you. I like that it is open seating and they have quite a bit of seating available. I tried the brisket sandwich, my wife got a pork belly bowl, and my daughter got a smashburger. All the entrees were good enough that we would be willing to come back.

Yelp
Seeing Loro finally opening up in the Domain was super exciting as I've been a fan of the South Lamar location. Going there is usually a treat for me since it's out of the way, but the food and service have always been spot on. For all you "Domainiacs", the Loro Domain took over where The Park restaurant used to be. I decided to swing by the Monday for lunch after their grand opening. Unfortunately, service was painfully slow and it looked like they were struggling with a staff shortage. I just ordered 1 double smash burger and it took almost 40 minutes for it to come out. Smash burger was good, I'd say a solid 4/5. Beef patty was juicy, but I would've liked a little bit more crisp to it. Cheese was properly melted and the yuzu 1000 thousand island was nice. If you like grilled onions, there are plenty in this burger and they kept it juicy. Definitely not the best experience I've had, but I would be willing to come back. I'd recommend waiting at least a couple of weeks for them to get their operations smoothed out and food coming out more efficiently.

Yelp
It's exactly like the other location - great quick service and food came out amazing ! So happy they opened a second location more up north. My favorite is the beef brisket, pork belly , and melon salad !

Yelp
A few things different than the South Austin locations but basically the same drinks and food. Friendly service with nice and open seating areas. The aromas from the kitchen get your mouth watering where you just can't help but order a bite to eat along with the tasty slushy drinks.

Yelp
What a wonderful first experience at the newest restaurant in The Domain! The staff gets 5 stars (or more, if possible to give!) and the food was jam packed full of flavor and an excellent presentation. The vibe seems laid back and fun with a classy spin. Perfect for Austin and the area! So so fantastic and I will definitely be back! I had the Wonton Chips & Dip and the Pulled Pork Tostadas (photos attached). RE: Parking --- You will want to park in the PINK or RED garage for closest access. However, if you park in the PINK garage, it is rather large and you could end up far, so make sure to park near the ALOFT hotel part of either garage and you will be close. The garages are huge and free.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the brisket nachos and the kick they had to them. My main dish was the chicken bowl and I felt I got the wrong item since it wasn't my favorite and was lacking a sauce to pull it together. The ambiance was great and I definitely would love to come back to try another dish.

Yelp
Amazing service! Food was the best! Sweet options and spicy options! Outside seating was very cozy and love the Christmas lights out at the domain right now! The staff are wonderful from the time you walk until you leave! We had an order take a bit longer and payment issue, but they gave us a gift card & a complimentary meal! We will return! We loved the one downtown, but this one is by far the best! Great for birthdays or holidays too! We come here for casual date nights as well:) We loved Michael! He is the best!

Yelp
Came for the soft opening. I've only been to the original Loro once or twice and didn't love it. I want my BBQ tasting like BBQ, don't really want the Asian crossover. After my recent visit I feel the same way. Enjoyed my bowl and the frozen coffee drink, but thought it was pretty expensive for what I got. I understand the hype on this place so I'll give them the 4* but it's just not my jam.

Yelp
Nice concept. Experience was a bit spotty. On my first attempt, we were told to wait in one area, and it turned out there was a private event in that area. We decided to go some place else. Attempted lunch there the next day, which was decent. The karaage was sweet, Malaysian curry chicken bowl was ok, broccolini was excellent. Came back for the spicy Japanese curry ramen only to be told that they ran out of it.

Yelp
Who doesn't love the Loro south Austin location? So I was def excited when they opened at the Domain. We went for their grand opening and waited in line for an hour in hopes of getting a yeti but sadly we were not early enough. We still stayed to have some food to check it out. We were able to place an order at their patio to the right and we ordered the chicken sandwich and a brisket sandwich. You then sit down with the number they give you and they'll bring the food out to you. The brisket sandwich came out a food 10 minutes earlier than the chicken sandwich but giving grace here since it was their first day. The chicken sandwich itself was good but not great. The chicken had some pieces of bone so just be careful when eating it. The space is nice and I do love the outdoor seating they have with space heaters above especially in the chillier weather. Def a nice addition to the domain and can see it becoming just as popular as their other location in the summer time. Worth checking out or getting a bite to eat after a fun day of shopping.

Yelp
I wonder if I went to the same place as the other yelpers or if I accidentally stepped into a time/space portal and arrived at a different L'oro. We were excited to try L'oro in the Domain for our weekly guys night out. Little did we realize they have the modern Frankenstein "service" model, the love child of an overpaid marketing person and a cost cutting efficiency expert. It is not even a step up from a fast food experience. Let's start with the good part. The cashier was very nice which led to a good upfront tip. Then it was all downhill. The "service" at the table was less than you get at McDonalds and less pleasant. Utensils? ""Go get them over by the plant". We needed something and the waitress gave us the "who me?" look. I ordered the vegetarian crispy tofu bowl. It was small, little tofu, and extremely bland. It's a cruel mockery of Asian food. BTW the spicy tofu at Asia Cafe is amazing! I expected something different but on par. Sub par is being generous. Hey at least they bussed the table. At the end of the meal we all agreed, never ever again.
