Loro - Review - The Domain - Austin - The Infatuation
"Loro at The Domain is Austin’s second outpost of the Asian smokehouse born from the unlikely but beautiful union of Uchi and Franklin Barbecue. And while the food is mostly the same—think brisket cheeseburgers, curry chicken rice bowls, and oak-smoked everything—it doesn’t have the same fun, camp-cafeteria vibe as the South Lamar original. Instead, it’s tucked into a corporate corner of The Domain and feels more like a typical high-end lunch spot than a place to post up for frozen gin and tonics with a group of friends. photo credit: Nicolai McCrary That said, this is still one of the better options if you’re in the area to pick up a pair of Doc Martens or if you happen to work at one of the shopping complex’s many tall buildings. The counter-service format makes it easy for everyone to do their own thing, and you won’t have to wait in any Franklin-length lines to get your hands on some solid barbecue. Plus, there are a handful of dishes exclusive to this location, including sandwich-and-side lunch combos, because this place is clearly aware of its customer base.
