I recently had the pleasure of visiting Los Andes for dinner after not having been there since the completion of their renovations, and I must say--wow, what an incredible transformation! The space is absolutely stunning now, and while I have always adored the charm and character of Los Andes, the updated design has elevated it to a whole new level of beauty, making it a true gem in the heart of Providence.
I began my evening with the sangria flight, which included three distinct varieties: white, rosé, and red. Each glass was thoughtfully crafted, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors that were beautifully mixed without being overly sweet--a quality that made them even more enjoyable to sip. The portions for all three were generous, allowing me to fully appreciate each unique profile, and I couldn't have been more pleased with this delightful trio as the perfect start to my night's drinks.
For our appetizers, we decided to start with the Conchitas a la Parmesana, a dish that reminded me of an elevated version of Oysters Rockefeller. These scallops were incredibly cheesy, served piping hot, and had a rich, comforting flavor that took me by surprise--in the best way possible. Although it wasn't exactly what I had initially expected, I was beyond thrilled with my decision to try them. In addition, I opted for one Empanada de Pollo and one Empanada Andina, both of which were perfectly golden and crispy on the outside while being flavorful and satisfying on the inside. The chicken filling in the Empanada de Pollo was especially impressive, as it was tender, juicy, and far from dry--a refreshing change, considering how often chicken empanadas can lean toward being overly dry or under-seasoned. Both empanadas were a delicious complement to the scallops, setting the tone for the rest of the meal with bold and delightful flavors.
For my entrée, I decided to go with the Anticuchos de Lomo, accompanied by a side of rice. The steak was cooked to absolute perfection--exceptionally tender, bursting with flavor, and seasoned just right to enhance its natural richness. What truly elevated the dish, however, was the incredible sauce that lined the bottom of the plate. It was rich, savory, and perfectly complemented the steak, creating a delightful harmony of flavors. The sauce also paired beautifully with the potatoes, which were tender and soaked up every bit of the deliciousness. Each bite was a perfect balance of textures and flavors, making this dish an absolute standout of the evening.
Nonetheless, BRAVO Los Andes! I love the new renovations and staff couldn't have been any better!
