Finally!
I ventured down to Southwest today (a beautifully sunny and breezy Saturday) with my taco consuming companion and we made our way to Los Dos Amigos for lunch.
I love that this truck is actually in a neighborhood, and you know the majority of the people there are from that neighborhood. Needless to say, my friend and I (pasty and pastier) looked a bit out of place. Regardless of that, the service was eager, friendly and breezy.
Definitely the best ceviche tostada I've had to date, and an amazing bargain at $1.00. We wanted to hit one other truck on our trip, so I left it at the ceviche tostada and al pastor taco, which was equally delicious. The tortillas (white corn) were as fluffy as they'd been described and the meat juicy and tender, with the perfect amount of seasoning. I could have done with a little less hot sauce, just because it overpowered the flavor of the taco, but it was delicious nonetheless. I kinda wish I'd gotten a second ceviche tostada because who knows when I'll get back there, but for real... you've got to try it!
There is a tent set up behind the truck, with a table and chairs underneath, so you can have a seat in the shade and enjoy your lunch if you like. That area was already full, so we just stood in front of the truck and gobbled up our food.
Their menu is pretty extensive for a taco truck, I must say, and I will definitely be back to check out more from them. I honestly couldn't think of a better lunch that you could get for $2.00. So cheap!
Los Dos Amigos definitely tops my list as far as the taco trucks go, and I'm guessing after I've had a chance to eat some more tacos there, it'll probably top my list for best tacos in Southwest, taco truck or otherwise.
