Where to Find the Best Tamales in Houston | Eater Houston

"After more than 50 years, this beloved restaurant continues to serve up Tex-Mex staples, including tamales, which are available on its catering menu year-round. Choose between chicken or pork for $14 a dozen, then place your order — deciding whether you’ll order for pick-up or if you’ll have to devour them on-site. If dining in, note that the pork tamale topped with chili gravy makes an appearance in a few platters, including the Acapulco, which comes with a crispy beef taco, puffy queso, and a cheese enchilada." - Brittany Britto Garley

Houston Restaurants With The Most Iconic Dishes | Eater Houston

"In a city with bountiful Tex-Mex restaurants, Los Tios is a standout for its nostalgic menu of comfort plates, including the original puffy queso taco. The hollow tacos are hand-pressed and fried each day for premium freshness, and served with a generous helping of queso smothered on top. They’re tasty on their own, but amping them up to include fajita meat stuffed inside is the right idea." - Brittany Britto Garley

So, we recently visited Los Tios Mexican Restaurant, and let's just say it was different. First, the tortillas were tougher than a Texas summer – we thought they were going to be filled with something, but nope, they topped it with cheese, which didn’t quite save the day. The taco? Meh, it was something I could probably pick up at Walmart. But, on the bright side, the salsa – wow! One of the best we've had, hands down. Chips? Perfection. As for the enchiladas, they were filled with what seemed like a brick of cheese– not quite the warm hug we were hoping for. On a positive note, the quesadillas? Above average – finally, something to get excited about. The chicken was flavorful, at least for the most part. Now, since being in Houston from Arizona, we've yet to be really wowed by the Mexican food scene. And then, just to seal the deal, we tried the tamales. Tiny, salty, and once we took a bite, that salt pretty much glued itself to our taste buds and ruined the rest of the meal. But hey, at least we got a solid salsa out of it! Salsa: 4.5 out of 5 Tacos: 1.5 out of 5 Enchiladas: 0.5 out of 5 Quesadilla: 2.9 out of 5 Tamales: no comment

Fantastic experience at Los Tios in the Memorial area! Juan went above and beyond to make sure our vegetarian needs were met — he was attentive, kind, and really knew the menu well. His recommendations were spot on and made our meal even more enjoyable. The food was delicious, the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Definitely coming back soon. Thank you, Juan, for the great service!

The employees were very nice. They greeted you extremely happily when you walked in the door. They brought the chips and salsa out promptly and he was very polite. The waiter came out took my order and he was really cool and great guy. Very friendly. The food was really decent The salsa tasted really good. The green sauce could have been hotter. Lol The tea glasses are on the small side for me. But it's not like my taqueria's. They have cloth napkins which shows me a little class. I got a tostada, guacamole salad and a cheese puff. The cheese puff was really thick and big. The little different than the other restaurants. Also on the menu they have a section for meals with cheese puffs. Such as beef in the puff and stuff like that. I might come back and try that one day. The hot plate was rice and beans enchilada in a tamale. The rice had nice chunks of onions and strips of green and orange bell peppers which made it taste really sweet and delicious. I hope you enjoyed it like I did. The dinner and the tea came to $21.50

Been coming here with my co-workers for nearly a decade now and the food is excellent. We always wind up being seated in the bar area though which is kind of odd. Even when there are six or more of us they’d rather push some tables together than let us have a table in the dining room. The service can be pretty slow at lunch even when it’s not busy. I tend to always circle back around to the Tacos Al Carbon (the chicken is a bit better than the beef on this particular dish) but the nachos are great and so are the golden tacos. The chips and salsa are really good and I appreciate that the green sauce is different in both flavor and texture than the red (you’d be surprised how many restaurants don’t really have a good variety).

We have been eating at this Los Tios for a lifetime, my kids ate here when they lived at home. We stopped by this week and still great!!! The food has been great for over 40 years for our family here and Will for many more! Enjoy!!! Txtiger68

Went for the first time after hearing several positive reviews from friends. I know this place has been around for a long time but I had never tried it due to other Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I was pleasantly surprised with how good their food is and it’s definitely going in our rotation of restaurants. The cheese enchiladas were my favorite and I can’t wait to go back and try a margarita. If you go on a Friday, I recommend going before you’re super hungry because they did have a bit of a wait. The service was good but I could tell it was slow due to how busy it was. However, our food was brought out hot and fresh, so no complaints.

Google
Food was very good and we went on Columbus Day weekend so it was understandably busy. Also have free chocolate in the front also very nice and clean. This is one of my family’s favorite restaurants.🌮🧀🌺

Google
The waiter was rude and the food was bland. I found myself adding a lot of salt. I will say the queso and sweet tea were good. Probably won’t come back.

Yelp
If you are looking for Tex-Mex classics, Los Tios is a must try. The margaritas, both classic and the flavored are refreshing and the bar has a good selection of beers and other cocktails to enjoy. Happy Hour is not to be missed, with deals on drinks and food. Overall, this is a great place within a nice neighborhood that is reasonable in prices, has fantastic food, drinks and service.

Yelp
We went for lunch on Father's Day. I had never been in this Los Tíos. Service was excellent by waitress. I wish I remembered her name. I noticed that there are $5 margaritas all day on Mondays. I did order breakfast though it was 12:30 p.m. I ordered an egg and potato taco. It's $3.50 and big. The silver dollar pancakes from the kids' menu are $3 and plentiful. My Dad loved his chicken and my brother his veggie fajitas. Prices are reasonable at Los Tíos, food and chips and salsas are delicious and service is great. I shall go more often to this location. The place is well lit and decorated beautifully.

Yelp
This is second time we've ordered over the weekend to pick up via curbside. Received a text the food was ready while driving there. Waited 10 min then called and was told he'd bring it out. Waited another 15 min and nothing. Had to go in. Food was good but way too many options to deal with bad customer service. Never returning.

Yelp
I haven't eaten here in a few years, but it's not for a lack of suggestion. We had an errand to run in the area and I decided we had to come back. My boyfriend hadn't eaten here before and I really wanted to find a new date night place as our usual spot really isn't very good. We arrived before noon on 12/21 and I was immediately comforted as it's just the same as it has been for decades. The hostess quickly seated us and our waitress appeared within a minute or less to take our drink order. I ordered the lunch special and chose a chili con queso puff and a cheese enchilada. The special also included rice and beans. I chose charro. He ordered something that included the above and a tostada. The chips and dips are amazing. You get salsa and green sauce. The chips are thin and crispy-perfect for me. My boyfriend is Hispanic and raved about them. Within 7 or 8 minutes we received our food and, Ohmygoodness, it was delicious! He said it tasted very authentic and wondered where in Mexico the recipes were from. The waitress didn't know, saying the cooks use their own. Well, wherever it originated, I think it's the best I've ever eaten. Our drinks were quickly refilled without asking and the bill was promptly given as soon as we finished. Our total wasn't much, but the service and food was so good that my boyfriend left a huge tip. Sure impressed me. Lol I have so many memories from this place. When I was younger, every year my mom and I used to go to the Honey-baked Ham Company, stand in line forever the day before Thanksgiving, and finally we'd walk on over to Los Tios for the best Mexican food ever. Mom is gone now, but it holds a special place in my heart. I'm actually choking up just remembering our memories together. We both agreed that even though it's located about 30 minutes away, we have most definitely found "our place" and are already planning the next date. Definitely recommend!!!!

Yelp
I got the classic dish at Los Tios: the stuffed puffy queso from 1970. It was a decent meal but not what I expected. The name and description made it sound like a chimichanga drenched in hot queso (clearly that is not what's in the picture but it was still good!) I will say that the vibe of the restaurant was super cute & had good low lighting where you don't feel like you're in a interrogation room but you can also still see your food My husband couldn't wait to dig into his chicken fajita (clearly since he never follows the foodie girl "phone eats first" rule ) As some of you know, this man is one of few words and instead opts for his own scale which I like to call The ZicoMeter . If he really likes a meal he will say so. "That was really good" If the meal is average he will simply provide two thumbs up If he's mad we spent our money cause it wasn't even worth it he'll say, "well we could've cooked tonight." Or just give a soft smile when asked , "how was everything?" Los Tios got a soft smile on the ZicoMeter. But that's probably also because I literally almost DIED at the start of our meal from choking on a chip (which was definitely a consumer error and nobody's fault except my own #HungryHoustonHotties) ASK FOR THE PUFFY CHIPS THO! (And the QUESO is yellow. Idk if other people notice that haha)

Yelp
Came to this small shopping center for some items from the Honey Baked Ham to go into our freezer. My wife said she was hungry and we should eat before buying to-go items at HBH. I looked around and saw Los Tios. She said okay. So we went over there first. I had not been to LT in a decade or two. Los Tios is as good, as it was a long time ago. We visited this location around 2 pm on a Thursday. Parking and seating not an issue. The atmosphere is very simple and classic. We ordered 1 LB chicken fajitas with 1/2 lb. brought to the table and 1/2 lb. packaged to go. Mix of flour and corn tortillas. Added a link of jalapeño sausage. Every bite and flavor was perfect to my memory and my wife thought it was great, as well. The service was kind, efficient, and courtious.

Yelp
Don't sleep on the new Smash Burger, it absolute fire. If you're feeling adventurous look at adding grilled Serranos

Yelp
The OG TexMex Institution. Brought the first margarita to Houston in the early 1970s. The food is classic TexMex, down to the yellow cheese and corn tortillas. The service is sincere in its earnestness. No smoking in the dining room (that's been updated) but otherwise, the ambiance is a Time Machine back to an earlier era of Houston TexMex; very 70s & 80s. It's a whole mood; vintage, not terribly spicy, old school TexMex that is unfussy and simple. Sometimes that's all you want.

Yelp
Delicious food! Service is always great and the waitstaff wear genuine Mexican white shirts. My family and I have going to this location since I was a baby in 1975. Never disappointed! They have terrific beef and chicken fajitas, the rice is amazing and the beans are terrific too! You get cheese, sour cream and guacamole with a fajita order. Lots of restaurants don't do that. It's always "extra" with other places; like extra cost. Not here! Margaritas are always good and pack a good punch. The thin tasty chips are served with the traditional red salsa AND the green salsa. I love both! Your drinks will never get low, the service will always be great and the comfortable seating is typically available unless you go on a weekend. It gets really busy on weeknights, but weekends are super busy. They have a bar area available for dining and a few tables outside too. Don't miss this gem. It's been a regular place for me going on 47 years! $60 (after tip) for our meal last night. No drinks on this trip, but I've had plenty in the past and they are good!

Yelp
Service was good but the food quality was mediocre. The taquitos dorados were dry. The waiter offered a complimentary praline, which was basically a mix of too much sugar and flour.

Jose P.

Yelp
Amazing margs !! Fajitas are best in town Excellent service! Carmelino is the go to server!

Yelp
Food is fine, but to-to go ordering is terrible. In the 3-4 times I've ordered to-go, my food has never been ready by the promised time and it normally takes 5+ minutes standing at the bar before I'm able to talk to the guy handling to-go orders. Tonight, I put in an order to be ready at 5:45 PM. Arrived at 5:45 PM. No contact with to-go guy until 5:52, and then he told me my order hadn't even been sent to the kitchen yet... Food for four people wasn't ready until almost 6:15... and this was on a Monday night.

Yelp
Tonight I called my order in togo for beef fajita quesadillas and a queso. I arrive 5 minutes before the order was ready, I wait at the bar for the bartender to bring my food because he said it wasn't ready yet. I live 5 minutes away from this location so when I arrive home all the quesadillas were extremely soggy and wet and so greasy. The beef fajita was super hard like if it was sitting out for a long time. I normally order Togo from the West University location and never have this problem ever, even when driving all the way home. So I'm guessing my food was sitting for a long time before I actually received it. Was not satisfied and would like some sort of compensation or money back for my order. I've left a review on google and I've yet to hear back from anyone.

Yelp
3 at most. Went Friday night with family. Margaritas & Mexican martini was good. Food wise, charro beans were crunchy, not cooked enough. Rice had no flavor whatsoever. Orders were coming out not knowing where to go? Won't be back if it's my choice.

Yelp
Read the reviews for this spot and decided to check it out. I ordered to go and my food was brought to the car. Ordering process easy breezy. Staff nice and accommodating. Once home I was SHOCKED by the portions in regards to what I paid. They were surprisingly very small. The size of the tamales is what got me. I was like . The food itself was subpar. Gotta admit the chips and dipping sauces were great! Only highlight of the meal. Tamales were hard and dry. Beans, rice and enchiladas were tasteless. Maybe if I dined in it would have been a better experience, but for now, il pass.

Yelp
Friday night I was craving TexMex. I'm new to this side of town and wanted to try a place that's been around for a long time. My search came up with Los Tios. I wasn't expecting much after seeing the reviews, but still wanted to give it a try. There was a pretty good crowd when we arrived. The menu stated that it had been around since 1970. Thats got to be a good sign... right? Our server came and asked if we'd like something to drink and if we'd like an appetizer. We settled on the Queso with taco meat and guacamole. I forgot the name of it, but it came with flour tortilla chips. It was really good. We also got some chips and 2 kinds of salsa. One green and one red. I usually LOVE the green and don't really ever eat the red. But this trip was different. The green was VERY bland. The red tasted homemade and was full of flavor. So... this time the red was my favorite. For my meal I ordered the Chilli relleno and my boyfriend ordered the chicken quesadillas. Both orders came out "be careful, the plate is hot" hot. Mine came with rice, beans and homemade Tortillas. His came with Pico, sour cream and guacamole. The Chilli relleno was decent. It was FULL of meat and was cooked in the traditional way with an egg batter. I have to say that I really liked it and would order it again. The rice was also good. Pretty standard though. The beans... not really that good. They were like a really thick paste and tasted like they had been cooked a few days ago. They were almost dry. The boyfriend said that his was good. That that's really all that I can ever get out of him. Food doesn't excite him as much as it does me. Lol All and all, I'd say it's a good place for TexMex. If you like TexMex and are in the area, I'd say give em a try.

Yelp
Los tios a family oriented CheesMexican restaurant known for its delicious and authentic cuisine. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, with colorful decorations and warm lighting that immediately immerses you in the Mexican culture. The service was fantastic from the moment we were seated, with friendly and attentive servers who made sure we felt welcome and taken care of the whole evening. We were given complimentary chips and salsa as soon as we were seated, which was an excellent start to our meal. Now let's talk about the food. The menu options were extensive, and there was something for everyone, including vegetarian and gluten-free options. I ordered the [dish name], and it was fantastic. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the presentation was equally impressive. The food portions were generous and nicely plated, adding to the overall dining experience

Yelp
We love it because it is a long time Houston restaurant that many families in the area grew up with, and still can take our kids.

Yelp
What a great spot to enjoy the Tex-Mex food in the memorial area of Houston. This review of mine is primarily based on the private dinner party I had booked here. They have a decent size private party room, which can be booked in advance. The restaurant doesn't pre-authorize the credit card in order to confirm the reservations. However, they do ask you to confirm the guest count and menu 48 hours prior to the event. The managers Sean and Violeta were extremely helpful and provided outstanding services. Both of them discussed the menu and beverage selections and offered good advices. They mentioned we don't rush out the guests, since mine was the last party of evening, we had the option to stay until the restaurant closes. As far as the catering meu is concerned, there are plenty of selections. We can add dishes and drinks from their regular menu too. I had selected the classic Tex mex -Fajita Fiesta. It's cost $20/ person. Children under the age of 10 were free. The food was flavorful and fresh. They have a nice selection of Margaritas. If you are hosting a party, they suggest buying it by pitcher. I had added frozen and house margarita. The guests loved the frozen Margarita. It was refreshing but, light on the tequila. On the day of party Violeta and her team members all went above and beyond to ensure that all the guests were well cared for during the dinner. As a host, we always have huge concern around parking, fortunately this restaurant has huge parking lot in front of it. I would definitely come back to this place for the delicious tex mex food.

Sara W.

Yelp
The food and service were great! Nice ambience and I would definitely recommend the frozen margaritas!

Lisa H.

Yelp
Eat at this restaurant often and besides the Great food and service, we LOVE the hostess, Lyndalin! Always cheerful, welcoming and smiling! She takes care of everyone and always makes our day! Love everything about this Los Tios!!

Veronica G.

Yelp
Have been eating there for years, Thursday night found a FINGER NAIL in my street tacos, it was nauseating. The waitress and bus boy both were horrified. The manager Violeta came to our table to apologize, we know it was not the fault of any of the front of house staff, the charge for the street tacos was taken off our bill, but........a little extra would have been nice since everyone at the table lost their appetite at the finger nail sight. It was a thick and yellow nail, it looked as if it had been clipped. I don't know if I can ever eat there again. It's a real shame that a worker would think it's ok to clip their fingernails in the kitchen.

Yelp
So, we just moved to Memorial in Houston and discovered a diamond restaurant...Los Tios. Wow, the food is off the chart and the ambience is, well, special. If you desire a genuine 5 star Mexican restaurant experience...look no further!

Yelp
We shared table guacamole- creamy chunks of avocado. I had the pulled pork quesadillas - delicious! Great service and very grit and accommodating restaurant.

Yelp
We eat at Los Tios every week and Alfredo is one of our favorite waiters. He remembers what we like and gives us great service every time. The salsa, margaritas and food are spectacular which keep us coming back for more.

Yelp
Creo que lo mejor de todo es lo auténtico del sitio, las margaritas son geniales. La atención es muy buena. El lugar es pequeño y acogedor!
google avatar

Ed C.

Yelp
Excellent service food also excellent. Highly recommend. Waiter and manager so very friendly. Clean establishment!

Sasha P.

Yelp
Good Tex Mex food, been there a long time, friendly employees. I always enjoy my meals when I eat here.
google avatar

Ginger C.

Yelp
I'm trying to give this place a chance. How was it? Customer service as bad as I remembered. No hostess in sight at 12:15pm. Waiter finally appeared and insinuated I could have seated myself in the bar. Why have a hostess stand? Why not have a sign that says "seat yourself"? Why were the chips placed on the far side of the table, with the salsa even further away, on the other side of the chips, next to the edge of the table? Is this designed to make the customer feel unwelcome? Food is mediocre, at best. Cook the rice!
google avatar

Erica F.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday for happy hour with a friend. Tried their famous margarita, and it was decent. We ordered the queso. It was OK at first, but once it was cool it became very thick and hard to eat. The waiter was kind enough to put it back in the oven to reheat for us. We also ordered the ceviche. It was more avocado than anything else, and for the price I thought there would be more meat.
google avatar

Ed S.

Yelp
Little has changed. Every 6 months or so, I get dragged back. Food is ok. Even good at times. Service is what ruins this place. My grilled chicken dinner was very good. But they failed to serve the rice & bean side. After reminding the waitress she brought back rice with refried beans. I reminded her I had asked for borracho. She came back with a cup of warm tomato salsa. I pointed out it wasn't Beans and she blamed the cooks. So, same old. Same old. For a $45 Tex-Mex dinner, I expect at least adequate service. Los Tios still hasn't figured it out.

Yelp
The Best Margaritas in town!! The service was great! Love the cheese enchiladas. The Atmosphere is very nice

Alisha B.

Yelp
This location is so amazing , from the service, to the food, to the hospitality! Everything was amazing. All of the servers celebrated my moms birthday, and everyone was so friendly. Our Waiter Lionel was amazing!! He served our entire table in a timely manner, very attentive, and was a gentleman. Thank you Los Tios! We will be back
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
Okay food, not my favorite. I think the food is not so fresh or delicious. I've got the golden beef tacos and tacos al carbon and both were okay, nothing special. The portions are big but the sides are okay- the guacamole tastes like it has been sitting out with no flavor. Just look at my picture, does that look appealing? The salsa tastes like it came out of a can. I will say that this place has good lunch special prices and large portions but nothing else besides that.

DAVID H.

Yelp
The lunch and dinner are pretty good, but the breakfast? Amazing!! The pancakes and bacon are an absolute must!!
google avatar

Jonah M.

Yelp
Very disappointing... some of the the chips were burnt and some raw, my boyfriend and I ordered combination plates which featured a queso puff and two ghastly tacos. They were hard shelled tortillas that were fried to the point it was inedible, and ground beef that was not flavorful and a bit cold. Every single thing was really bland except for the salsa.
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
So wow I cannot believe this place only has 2.5 stars currently I've been coming here literally longer than I can remember as my mother said we been here when I was just a infant yes they been here a long time. Services always pretty good food is good I'm not saying it's over the top grade on all the dishes however today I had the anniversary nachos definitely recommended they were over-the-top awesome five stars all the way on those suckers. My margarita was kind a week but it was all right like I said the nachos were awesome!

Yelp
I love this place! Great food, great service, and fast! Good place to go for lunch I would go to them everyday if I could

Yelp
This place is on the downward slide. The to-go situation is totally unorganized. Called ahead to place my order of two margaritas and a small queso. Arrived 15 minutes later. Hostess said she would let someone know I was her to pick up food. She did that seven minutes later. After waiting there 15 minutes someone finally came out to the lobby to ask my name. I finally got my order 45 minutes later. I asked the hostess to let the manager know there was a situation with the to-go pick-up situation. She had already informed me she was "just" the hostess and didn't know what was going on. Anyway, my wife had asked me to pick up margaritas and queso at Cabana on the way home. I thought I'd take it up a notch, which I did price-wise. So for four-times the price we got the same size margaritas (large) that I could've picked up at TC for half he price, some cold queso, a long wait and an attitude from the front desk. And to think a couple of weeks ago we were considering making this place our Friday "tradition". Comical. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Brookie B.

Yelp
Came here with friends to relax after a long week. I ordered the happy hour house margarita $5 and added a flavor topper $2. I also ordered the shrimp enchiladas and it was pretty darn tasty! The drink was good as well. Now let's discuss the service..... The food took about an hr to come out, the waitress brought the ticket out and we were charged $8 for the margarita plus $2 for the flavor. Okay so I brought this to her attention and she proceeded to go back and forth with us that we were charged correctly. So we politely asked for a manager. After a few short minutes, she came back and apologized for her mistake and provided us with updated tickets. So this time, my best friend was charged $2.75 twice, once for the rice and once for the beans. The menu says and I quote: Add a side of rice and beans for $2.00 to any combo. So she proceeds to go back and forth with us yet again!!! This time, I politely asked her to grab the menu for me. When she returned with the menu I directed her attention to the menu where it different pricing ($2.00 for rice and beans). She again apologized and brought yet another corrected ticket. Although her service was lacking, I hope she learned a valuable lesson in checking the menu pricing before arguing with a paying customer. She was still tipped because she wasn't terrible, she just needs a menu pricing refresher and a brush up on her customer service skills. Still undecided as to if I'll be returning customer anytime soon.

Margaret B.

Yelp
After waiting for a hostess, we finally seated ourselves and had to ask the busboy for menus and water. The food is good enough but they won't even garnish their plates with basics like tomatos and lettuce. Worse, the lack of quality service at the Memorial location is unacceptable. Every time I asked for anything simple, the older waiter (Angel) rolled his eyes and made it clear that he'd rather not be there. We're practically risking our lives to dine out, and this is the rude treatment we get? In a city where Tex-Mex restaurants are a dime a dozen, this place is no longer on our list. Update: I tried calling the number left but seems M is not even @ this location but when I explained it to the manager on duty, she couldn't care less. No wonder service is so poor.

Yelp
By far, my FAVORITE tex-mex place in all of Houston. They have the best chicken quesadillas, drinks, chips, and guacamole-- and to top it off, the staff there is really sweet and attentive. I recently ordered takeout during the COVID-19 lockdown and the food was just as amazing as always. They had a very sweet note attached to my bag and it made me even happier to support a business like there's. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Not sure where to begin with this one. We have ordered pick up twice and it was delicious, and the restaurant always seems full. I decided it was the perfect place to take my in-laws when they came in town because they love tex mex. I called to make a reservation and was told we'd be out at a great corner booth because I mentioned it would be our first time dining in. When we arrived, the hostess was very confused (no idea why, I saw our name and table number on their list) but eventually got us to our table after a while. The table was comically wobbly, so after trying to fix it ourselves with menus we asked to be moved to a normal four person table nearby. The hostess sat two more families at that booth who also complained and had to be moved. Never was the table fixed. We got settled at our new spot and laughed it off. Unfortunately it just kept getting worse from there. Our waitress was extremely unfriendly, barely answered questions, kept walking away from us mid-order and mid-sentence (seriously, this happened three times), and had to be hunted down every time we needed something. We started asking other servers and busboys for help. The kicker, and the reason we will never be back, is that to make up for all of this I was expecting the food to be great. I ordered ceviche with two Diablo shrimp on the side to my dish. I asked if they had hot sauce for the ceviche and was given a cold and quick "no". Pretty weird to me for a tex mex or mexican place to have zero hot sauces. The shrimp and parts of the bacon on the diablos were completely raw. I'm not exaggerating when I say one of the entire shrimps was clear and grey - was not cooked at all. I'm known for picking good restaurants when my in-laws come in and this was really embarrassing for me. Never again. I'm only giving two stars because when I called to make the reservation the manager was very sweet, and I did like my margarita.

Yelp
Was hesitant about trying this place because of the not so good reviews, but decided ok because of the better reviews and I was really hungry and it is reallyclose. The quail, spinach enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, charro beans, rice and red sauce are good. The green sauce was really bland and the Katie dip, which is just queso with beef meat in it was a bit too salty and the chicken verde enchilada, the chicken was good but the verde sauce was too tangy, maybe with a little more seasoning it could have been offset some of the tang and been better. But will definitely eat here again.

Yelp
Los Tios is always a reliable go to for our family. Good margaritas, good food. I love the street tacos. My husband always gets the beef fajitas. My sister in law ideally enjoys their tortilla soup. Something for everyone. It's family friendly or you can go to the bar to watch sports.

Yelp
From the blood orange margarita to the delish fajitas and attentive service this place deserves a few more stars since people are so unhappy with their queso lol! Obviously we avoided the queso but that's fine bc I loved their salsa (reminded me of my childhood friends dads homemade salsa) just the right kick and consistency.

Yelp
OMG this place is amazing, I've lived in Houston a year and a half out of all the restaurants I've visited this one is the best. The service was excellent, the food was amazing. Definitely will come again love this place.

Yelp
The food was not good. Really bland fajitas and the bacons wrapped shrimp were just as bad the bacon was way over cooked. The salsa verde had no flavor but their red salsa was ok. The tortillas as well were decent but not worth the amount of money you spend, also portions are small. Definitely do not recommend

Yelp
Restaurant experience wasn't too bad. Don't order with any kind of delivery service. Guy called to confirm what I wanted. Told him two cheese enchiladas. Must have been some miscommunication, because that's not what I got. Called to let them know, and nothing was really done to change anything. Oh well. Won't be getting anything from this location again.
