"Hotel Costes is (if you ask us) the most seductive, decadent place to sleep in Paris, and its newly-opened sibling in London, L’oscar, is no different. It’s all excess. L’oscar is a former Baptist church that hotelier Jacques Garcia stuffed with his signature red velvet everything, Lalique butterfly taps in the bathrooms, and chandeliers aplenty. Guest rooms come with yoga mats, incredible city views, and beautiful mosaic showers. But we especially love the bar, which is swathed in plush navy velvet, wood-paneled walls, and impressively stacked bookshelves."

How Jacques Garcia Turned an Old Church into London's Hottest Hotel

"L’oscar is a London hotel designed by Jacques Garcia, located in an early-20th-century Baptist church. With 39 rooms and seven stories, it channels London through a mix of modernity and Victorianism, featuring rich colors and opulent details."

L'oscar London (London, UK) 10 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If you’re the literary type, you might be won over by the prospect of a hotel inspired by Oscar Wilde — and if interior design is your medium, you may be more thrilled at the prospect of Jacques Garcia’s first London hotel. L’oscar London certainly begins with promising material, in a landmark Baroque-style Baptist church just yards from Holborn station. But it’s what they’ve done with the place that really impresses; this is a vision of London that Wilde surely would have preferred to the Victorian one in which he lived." - Tablet Hotels

We had an amazing experience here! The place is absolutely beautiful and every turn the design catches you by surprise and delights. Tony, our attendant was extremely friendly and efficient. The girls at the front desk deserve a glass of champagne. They were amazing! The bartender I wish I could remember his name, but he was Ukrainian and he was amazing as well. Not to mention he was quite a handsome fella with a great smile and a warm personality. We will definitely be back. Take the history of this place, it was once a Baptist Church and was bombed during the war on the fourth floor. But she would never know it. The turn down service in the evenings was extremely special every night. We were surprised with a little gift on the pillow. The breakfast was amazing the granola, fresh berries, and the fresh berry smoothie, along with the smoked salmon on the crushed avocado sourdough bread will delight and start your day perfectly.

We are not usually ones to write a review, but we decided it would be unjust not to acknowledge the excellence of L’oscar.||My partner and I have stayed here twice now, both times for just one day during a long layover in London. First, the check-in experience is excellent—they offer a drink, which is especially appreciated after a long flight, and you are seated in the charming, one-of-a-kind lounge. The staff are kind, thoughtful, attentive to detail, and exactly what you dream of in a luxury hotel. The rooms are spectacular, with art on the walls and beautiful décor.||As we were celebrating our anniversary, the host knocked on our door soon after our arrival and delivered a decorated tiramisu to commemorate the occasion. He also brought fresh peaches and beautifully designed cookies. Truly above and beyond. I would also be remiss not to mention the breakfast—absolutely delicious and extravagantly presented.||Lastly, the location is superb: right next to Holborn Station for easy travel and only a 5–10 minute walk from the British Museum. L’oscar is easily in our top three hotels we have ever visited, and we would make a trip back to London just to stay again.

We had our wedding at L’oscar London and it was nothing short of magical. The team were attentive and incredibly helpful throughout the planning process, with special thanks to Cassie, who sat with us multiple times to ensure every detail was perfect. On the day itself, the chefs and staff were fantastic. The food and drinks were exactly what we wanted, our guests were well-fed and never without a drink in hand. The venue itself is breathtakingly opulent, so little additional décor was needed. We hired The Baptist Bar, The Dome, and The Library, and each space was unique and enchanting, creating the most memorable setting for our day.||A huge thank you to our day organiser, Sokol, who was an absolute star. His kindness, attentiveness, and eye for detail made everything run seamlessly – we truly loved him!||My husband and I also stayed for two nights, and our suite was beautiful: elegant design, an incredibly comfortable bed, and thoughtful touches like welcome snacks and a bottle of rosé (the very same we had chosen for our wedding dinner). After the reception, we returned to find the room decorated for us which was such a kind and romantic surprise.||L’oscar London went above and beyond in every way, and we couldn’t have imagined a more perfect venue for our wedding.||Thank you to all the L'oscar London team!! We are so grateful for your hard work <3

As always, the most wonderful stay. I sleep so soundly here, and always feel relaxed. Our favorite hotel in London, perhaps the world. The staff and warm and generous, always engaging, and will do anything to make our stay comfortable. The same level of service you can expect at more exclusive places, without the exorbitant room rates! Special thanks to Toni, he’s a real asset, but all the staff are valued to us. Thank you again.

This was our second stay at L'Oscar, and it has become our go-to hotel in London. The building is beautiful, and the location is excellent. However, what truly sets this hotel apart is the staff. They take the time to get to know each guest and remember them. Florencia and Yavor at the front desk are invaluable; they always have everything prepared for us before we even reach the desk. We appreciated that they remembered us from our previous stay and were always happy to chat.||We always looked forward to seeing Toni when we were coming in and out; he was always ready to assist us with anything we needed. Additionally, the breakfast service is fantastic, and Mihaela and her team are outstanding. I even stopped by breakfast on the day of my departure to say goodbye.||We will be back in the spring and will continue to share the word about this hidden gem in London with everyone.

Wonderful stay! Diamond in the rough. Excellent location, room/hotel magnificently decorated. Staff was absolutely the pinnacle of hospitality. Tube 1 block away. Convenient walk to Covent Garden and other sites. Dinner and Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. Yavor at the front desk was welcoming and very accommodating. The Bellman Toni was extremely helpful with recommendations and a pleasure to know. Mihaela in the restaurant was spectacular. Overall top notch experience in large part because of the staff.

The hotel itself was brilliantly designed: both beautiful and practical in every way. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed at the hotel the night before and the night of our wedding and the thought they put into making our stay special was remarkable. From helping our vendors and wedding party find their way to our rooms, to making our dog feel at home… we couldn’t have asked for better hospitality. Not to mention the complimentary late check out and special treatment they gave our room when we returned from our big day. The restaurant also deserves a mention. We had dinner there the night before the wedding and all of the staff came over to wish us luck for the next day. The food we ordered was great, as was the congratulatory dessert. Thank you so much for making our stay so wonderful.

This hotel is beyond a dream. The hotel staff were unbelievable in every aspect of running a hotel. The service was exceptional, they care about every single thing to make your stay the best possible experience. I can't recommend them enough. Absolutely the best hotel experience I've ever had and I've been all over the planet. My wife has come down with a cold and the staff went out of their way to take care of her. They made the whole experience unforgettable. We can't wait to go back!
