There’s a New Rooftop Bar Called President’s Terrace Opening at This Downtown Palo Alto Hotel | Eater SF

"On the hotel's ground level, Lou & Herbert’s is an all-day cafe serving Manresa Bread pastries and Saint Frank coffee alongside breakfast and lunch: breakfast highlights include Power Pancakes that fold whole wheat flour and quinoa into flapjacks topped with blueberries and maple syrup, while the lunch menu features items like a chilled soba noodle salad. At night the cafe shifts into more of a bar format with snacks such as oysters and tuna tartare, plus natural wines and cocktails from Bad Birdy." - Dianne de Guzman

A Review of Graduate Palo Alto in California

"The hotel’s ground-floor, all-day eatery—named for a prominent former Stanford couple—serves morning staples like breakfast burritos and avocado toast alongside evening items such as tuna tartare, oysters and a theatrically rich bread-and-“butter” course made with whipped bone-marrow butter. The menu and cocktail list nod to the Hoover legacy with playfully named drinks such as “The 1929” and “Herb & Lou’s First Date,” making it a culinary centerpiece for both guests and local visitors."

Such a great experience at the hotel bar! The bartender Jeff was super kind and friendly, and the espresso martini was absolutely delicious. You can really tell when someone cares about what they do. Would happily come back again!

We went to the Graduate by Hilton to eat at Lou & Herbert's for lunch. It's a nice little restaurant and bar with very nice decor, and it even has a nice fireplace. Our server, Carolina was really nice and so was Tony the chef. We had the Rigatoni Primavera, which was good and Katia's Shrimp Ceviche that was excellent and very craveable. We'll come back sometime for breakfast and dinner!

It's a hotel bar. Nice place to have a conversation. They have nice chairs, quiet, and not too busy. There is also a roof top bar upstairs. Different menu and little cold and windy. Drinks are so so, nice place to hangout tho.

Quiet getaway restaurant serving amazing rigatoni with shrimp. Perfect al dente pasta, and a pleasing crunchiness throughout brought by tiny toasted crumbles of sourdough bread.

Cocktail tastes so so. What surprised me was there was a mouse crossed the hallway hidden under my chair. The restaurant didn’t take any action and just told me they contacted the maintenance group… Speechless experience…

I have come here a number of times and, although it is way too pricey for the food that it offers, the atmosphere counters it. That said, I went there tonight, Sunday, and it was not worthy of a high level hotel bar, starting from the attire of the service providers who looked like gas station attendants, to the price of a basic cocktail (24 USD) which is extreme even for Palo Alto. As nice as the atmosphere is, I will not be coming back.

Wonderful night out at Lou and Herberts. The lobby is chic and filled to the brim with art work. Menu is interesting and had lots of dairy free/vegetarian options. Drinks were well made and delightful. Service was friendly and nice but a little slow to start. Great place for Happy Hour or other casual hang

Great spot for breakfast. Small, quiet, family friendly. Mix of normal tables and sofa options. Sneak up to the roof after for a great view of Palo Alto.

Yelp
I was in town visiting friends and one suggested meeting here for brunch on a Sunday morning. The coffee was delicious, the food was tasty and the customer service was impeccable. We felt like we were hanging out at a friends cozy kitchen. The place is small and super cozy. The vibe is eclectic, funky with overstuffed chairs, fun artwork and warm colors.

Yelp
$17 for the worst non-alcoholic mocktail I've ever had in my life. This drink was just ginger beer, lemon, and honey and the proportions were all off. This place is truly taking the p*ss.

Good coffee, service and excellent egg sandwich and breakfast burrito. Don't miss this gem inside the Graduate!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, something for everyone. Second date was my drink, tasty and light, price as expected for CA. Service on point and has an elegant vibe through. Hopefully will try food next as we are in town a couple more days.

Yelp
Inside of the newly renovated gorgeous Graduate (aka the Presidents Hotel) is a hidden gem. We had a fantastic breakfast (not crazily priced) in the wonderful cozy, sophisticated Lou and Herbert lounge, which also has a bar. My husband loved his breakfast burrito and I had a perfect cup of coffee with a scrumptious freshly made croissant and the best scrambled eggs I've ever had. This place should not be missed. I'm getting my coffee friends to gather asap-we claim the seats by the fire!
