So, I want to start off by saying that the experience overall was good, but sometimes one thing can leave a bad taste in your mouth.
There were 6 of us that went together for a crown bar tasting on 3/26 @ 5pm. Our wine ambassador did a really great job explaining each wine, and telling us about each varietal and where they're grown. She was very knowledgeable, explained the conditions at each site, and we really enjoyed the wines a lot! They had delicious cabs, and there wasn't a single wine anyone particularly didn't like.
We all bought wine, and at about $100 a bottle, I think we spent about $600. I am an industry member, and she informed me that as much as she wished they did, Martini only offered an industry discount on their large batch wines that you can find in grocery stores. There was no discount on the small batch wines that we bought. Im not cheap at all, but this just isn't the case at other wineries, but totally not her fault!
As our ambassador was bagging up our wine, I asked a younger gentleman to take a picture for us. Mind you, it was 6pm, and there were 2 cars in the parking lot including my own. They were not busy. After thinking about it for a few seconds, his response was, "I can't. I have too much to do." Odd, right? It would have taken him 30 seconds. Being in the industry, or just even being a human, I can't imagine ever responding in that manner to that request. If he didn't have time, there were about a million other responses that would've been better. Just, "I can't at this moment, but I will grab someone for you" would have been fine. He walked away, and then walked back over 1 minute later, and again said something about being busy. In the time he spent saying that, the picture could have been taken five times. We could tell that our server was embarrassed by his response and quickly said she would take it for us. I truly hope someone said something to address his response after we left.
Being that we spent a good amount on wine, and were a totally respectful group, this just was not a good way to end our experience. I really wanted to love this place because I'd heard such great things, and the wines were enjoyable.
