Southern seafood boils, cocktails & beer served in nautical surroundings with a backyard look.
"Lowcountry is a casual seafood boil restaurant, and the South Loop location feels like a backyard party, complete with picnic tables, fake trees, astroturf, and a great playlist of early ‘00s hits. It’s a counter-service spot, but you can sit in a separate section if you want a server (and easier access to the bar). Either way, choose from a variety of shellfish and sauces, and a short while later you’ll get a bag of buttery, garlicky seafood delivered to you. It’s messy—but watching the people at neighboring tables fighting with a crab shell makes it worthwhile." - veda kilaru, adrian kane, john ringor
"Don’t get too dressed up to head to a date at Lowcountry, where diners can break the ice while wearing bibs and messily pulling apart crab legs, crawfish, and shrimp covered in Cajun or garlic sauce and served in a bag with add-ons like sausage and potatoes. Be sure to order some garlic noodles to further soak up the flavor and finish on a sweet note with beignets." - Samantha Nelson
"Put on a bib and get ready for a Southern boil at Lowcountry. Diners order shrimp, snow crab, mussels, king crab, or lobster tails by the pound, which are served in a bag with different sauces and add-ons like corn and sausage. It’s a communal experience that includes eating directly off the table. To finish, there are beignets and deep-fried Oreos. There are also locations in Lakeview and Chinatown." - Samantha Nelson, Eater Staff
"Lowcountry’s South Loop location will be open on Christmas Day and Christmas Eve with full dine-in and takeout menus. There’s a special seafood boil for four with lobster tails, snow crab clusters, shrimp, corn, potatoes, and cornbread. It’s also available to go. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. on December 24 and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Christmas Day." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff
"One of the city’s best spots of seafood boils is celebrating Thanksgiving. Lowcountry’s South Loop is offering a to-go package for four and trays that could feed 10. Pickup is on Thanksgiving day and customers can order online. Selections include lobster tails, cornbread, shrimp, and corn." - Eater Staff
