Lower East Side Ice Cream Factory - Review - Lower East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"This is where you’ll want to get ice cream in Essex Market. This offshoot of the Original Chinatown Ice Cream Factory has a ton of flavors, and we’ve always gone with some sort of combo of pandan, Thai ice tea, and ube (sometimes all three). This is a branch of the redoubtable Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, with all of the superb flavors that place offers: ube, zen butter (a beguiling mixture of peanut butter and toasted sesame seeds), green tea, and so many more. A special bonus of this location: no crowds, at least when I have visited. I went with a double-cookie play on my last visit: matcha and cookies beneath almond cookie. Rich, thick stuff. I’m a fan. Note well: cash or Venmo only.

The Essex Market is fun! Lots of little kiosks with items and flavors from all over the world! Days are starting to get chillier so I needed to try these two flavors before the weather really starts getting cold. Taro and matcha flavor- I truly just wanted to eat really colorful ice cream… The person working was very nice and patient with my questions because they have flavors I’ve never heard of before like pandan and durian. It was a nice experience and the price is exactly the same as other specialty ice cream shops in NYC. I liked walking and eating a fun product as a farewell to an awesome summer. It was a nice moment ❤️

Google
I went here today and the ice cream was delicious. I ordered Ube, which is a favorite of mine. Lots of unique flavors. As delicious as it was I am torn as to whether or not it’s worth $6.50 for one scoop. It’s quite pricey if you bring your children. Service was nothing special at all. I’ll go there again because the environment at the Essex market is exceptional and I enjoy being there.

Google
Super good. Has fun flavors like pandan (which is the green one I got as shown in my pic), matcha & cookies, red bean, egg tart aka dan tat, etc. The logo of the dragon and the fun Asian flavors reminds me a lot of Chinatown Ice Crean Factory, so I wonder if they’re by the same management. But would definitely recommend!!!

Google
Extremely rude worker running the counter. They close at 6 and I was at the counter at 5:57. Can I have a flavor that was on the board. She turned and checked the time on her phone and then she said "no" rudely. Not "sorry we're out" or something similar. She said we only have what's written on the tubs of ice cream. I said ok and looked down to see what they had. As soon as I looked down she said "you have 2 minutes" in a rude tone. I said forget it since I'm obviously bothering you. There are too many ice cream shops around that want people's business then to ever give this place my money.

Google
Fantastic, just like the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, great, unique flavors of ice cream and cones! I got the really pretty Orange Creamsicle Cone, so so good, tastes just like it. Also the Squid Ink Ice Cream was amazing, so smooth and buttery and creamy. This is a super awesome location too, right inside Essex Market, so lots to see, eat, and drink while you’re there.

Google
Yummy ice cream and true to the flavors. Loved the gooey chocolate brownie and goat cheese with olive brittle. Double vanilla bean was also good. Just very pricy for the size served, but I didn't mind too much.

Yelp
Cool flavors and nice texture. It's part of the wider Essex Market, which has some of interesting stores too.

Yelp
Located at Essex Market, it's a small little stand among other food vendors. I got my go to flavor pandan and as usual it was delicious. I would describe the taste as taro but just colored green. I went during the late afternoon and it was not busy at all. There is also a nice seating area upstairs to sit and enjoy your ice cream. They also do not accept card or Apple Pay so make sure you have cash on hand. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try Asian inspired ice cream flavors!!

Yelp
Good ice cream, terrible service. Server had a shitty actitud and seems to be annoyed while doing her job. Ice creams do not have regular names, so you need to take your time reading the ingredients.

Yelp
This was my first time at Lower East Side Ice Cream Factory. I've been to the Chinatown and Flushing sister stores previously. It was a Saturday at 2:30pm. I made my way through Essex Market until I came upon their station. I ordered a wafer cone with a scoop of Ube and a scoop of Rose Lychee. Always have your cash out and ready beforehand since you'll be using your other hand to hold the cone. As with the other locations, there's something special about the texture of this product. I finished my dessert well before it had a chance to melt.

Yelp
Excellent service, friendly staff. I got a chocolate egg cream to go! Who knew such pleasures exist? Various unique ice cream flavors including squid ink which is actually made with it and it's black in color. Definitely worthy of stopping by when you're shopping in Essex Market.

Yelp
Olive. Oil. Ice. Cream.... I never thought I would love again, but here it shows up in a cone proposing marriage with my taste buds, whispering sweet nothings into my ear. It was over for me. This tiny kiosk in the Essex Market is worth the stop. Whereas with its equally good competitor downstairs you can get complex layers of flavor. Here, you get single notes of greatness. Flavors like ube, olive oil, coconut.... this place understands ice cream on a gut level. There is room for everyone at this sugar coned table.

Yelp
This place hits it out the park every single time! I normally go to the one in Chinatown but I really like this one because the area offers more space to sit and enjoy your ice team without crowds. I get the pandan because it's a unique flavor you can't find anywhere else!
