Where To Get Affordable Takeout In LA

"If you’ve been following us at all this past year, you know that aside from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, there’s nothing we love more than a good breakfast burrito. Especially when they’re super big, filled with thick-cut bacon, and only cost $7. Which is exactly what you’ll find at Lowkey, a weekly pop-up in the South Bay and Koreatown. Each burrito comes with a crispy outer layer of griddled cheese and jalapeño (genius) and is filled with ingredients like grass-fed marinated tri-tip, fresh salsa, and hash browns. It’s basically like the “Elaine” of breakfast burritos. Or the “Selina Meyer.” Or… actually, you get the picture." - kat hong

My friend recommended this spot. I had never tried a breakfast burrito with a cheese crust. It seemed like it was only for the gram but surprisingly it was actually good. Great business idea so kudos to the owner which was also very courteous and friendly. A little extra cheese goes a long way. In one word. Crispy. The bacon was crispy. Potatoes were cut small and crispy as well. Add a crispy cheese crust then you have crisp central. The ingredients were good. The salsa is not very pronounced but overall it is a good burrito. I wish they had more eggs in it. I don’t know if I would add the cheese crust every time I wanted a breakfast burrito but at least they have a good one even without their signature cheese crust.

I am a very long time IG follower and on a few occasions have driven from Santa Clarita to Long Beach for their burritos! I was so excited to here they have a brick and mortar location. I ordered the crunch wrap with steak and a basic burrito with bacon, steak, avocado and cheese crust. Worth the drive, the wait and the price.

If you ever have a chance to eat here, definitely do it since they're only in DTLA once a week. I came here last Friday around 8am and there was a long enough line starting to queue up. From just standing in line, the aroma in the air was amazing and it didn't quell my hunger at all. Ordering is quite simple, they offer their basic burrito which contains no meat whatsoever. Everything you want to add on, such as bacon, avocado, jalapeno-cheese crust and their meat of the day. Just know that it does take a while for you to get your burrito since there’s only 2 workers. One of them takes the order as well as prepare so it can delay your food. When I went last Friday, what I saw was several customers help taking orders and handle the cash while the two guys prepared food. It’s something g you don’t see everyday but it definitely emboldens the LA way. The burrito itself was amazing! Never thought a jalapeño cheese crust on a burrito would make it even better. To be honest, it was a bit salty for me but I think if I had hot sauce, it would’ve taken care of it. Overall I enjoyed this burrito but I don’t think it’s a healthy one that I could eat every week.

Matt is an absolute superstar chef making the best burritos that have ever existed. Now with a Brick N Mortar shop, Low Key offers credit card, bottled drinks and juice, and Burrito Bowls. Right next to Emerson College this place is going to be THE place to eat breakfast in the area. Also, the cocktail restaurant next door is sharing their seating, which means Low Key Burritos and Old Fashioned / Bottomless Mimosas on the weekend. Specialty meats, jalapeño cheese crust burritos - too good to pass up.

Amazing...got there around 7am before the rush. Watched him make a free burrito for a homeless guy. So that speaks volumes. The steak in the burrito was so unbelievably tender that you wouldn't even know it was in there if you couldn't taste it. I'm not one to believe in hype, but this sh*t legit

There's nothing lowkey about this burrito! Interesting concept. Very nice staff. For me the burrito was a little too greasy, but the line was huge, so that clearly is not the majority.

Long time follower. Amazing burritos and big portions. Love that you can add so much stuff to your burrito. Staff is always friendly and warm. Worth a trip to check it out.

They like to run around on the weekends and do pop ups from LA to Irvine. I think the burrito was ok. Their burrito base consisted of potatoes, cheese, salsa, egg but they ran out of potato and still sold me a burrito.. 1$ for bacon, avocado or veggies sounds pretty good but 2$ for a cheese crust? Would not come out of my way to get but if it’s in the area I wouldn’t mind going back.
