The 12 Best Beignets In New Orleans 2024

"“Lagniappe” is a word in Louisiana that means “a little something extra,” and we can think of no better dish that fits this description than the Oreo beignets at Luca Eats. They’re basically fried Oreos, but instead of using the usual doughy coating, these are dipped in beignet batter instead. It’s somehow not overly sweet, even when it’s topped with an extra dusting of powdered sugar. Get whatever seasonal fresh squeezed lemonade they have, because we all know that sugar pairs best with more sugar." - megan braden perry

The Best Sandwiches in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Luca Eats has been one of Carrollton’s best stops for breakfast and lunch sandwiches since 2016. The unique shrimp and grits breakfast sandwich; steak and egg; and egg white press sandwiches are standout day starters, but then again the pressed lunch sandwiches can’t be beaten—our favorites are the fried green tomato BLT on multigrain and the turkey pesto, a dreamy stack of roasted turkey breast, pesto mayo, avocado, bacon, and smoked Gouda on sourdough." - Beth D’Addono

Restaurants With New Orleans’s Best Cuban Sandwiches | Eater New Orleans

"This friendly Uptown breakfast and lunch cafe opened in 2016 with a full menu of pressed sandwiches, and its $11 Cuban still manages to stand out among the options. Made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and perfectly pressed, Luca Eats will satisfy that tangy, savory Cuban craving. Also known for its Oreo beignets if you still have room for something sweet." - Clair Lorell

Food was delicious, honestly soooo good. But it was NOT worth $65 (everything you see in the picture was $65). Atmosphere was super cute, the employees were friendly. I got the Carolina BBQ sliders and the portion just looked so small. And then it came with rosemary chips? So did my husbands’ Cuban sandwich. We’re Cuban and that mix does not belong together lol. We paid $6 for the tiny cup of orange juice. Luckily, it was fresh squeezed and tasted delicious. We most likely will not be returning because we can’t justify spending that much for the actual amount of food we received.

Google
Visiting NOLA and I have to say the short trip over to Luca Eats was worth it for the Fried Green Tomato BLT. Simple and delicious. Their coffee was great too! I had a hot Americano. Great spot if you’re into checking out graveyards as well.

Google
Fantastic little coffee and sandwich shop walking distance from Tulane. We ordered half the menu but those grits we had they were the best we ever had. The creamy corn grits just blew us away, and a nice lite brothy gumbo loaded with meat.

Google
We went for lunch yesterday and had a salad, a sandwich and two soft drinks. The bill was $ 50 I included a tip, but I learned that a tip was not necessary because there was no service whatsoever. It took a half hour for the food to be prepared and there was one person ahead of us. My wife asked for more dressing for her salad because it was dry and was toldthat it would be $1.50 for extra dressing. We used to love this place, but it is really gone down and Customer Service is not in their vocabulary.

Google
A map search of “breakfast near me” led me to this little GEM of a neighborhood bistro. First of all, the grits represent! They were delicious and creamy and flavorful. Some of the best I’ve had in NOLA! The sharp white cheddar is what makes an average bacon egg and cheese sandwich something special here. You should try it. Then they have this grill brie and apple sandwich. It’ll make you come back! Thanks for everything. Great service & quaint neighborhood bistro setting. Oh I’ll be back

Google
Just ordered since COVID-19 hit the world. Before Luca Eats was great and had wonderful service. Today, it was mediocre at best. Portions are half what they used to be though they increased the price. They don't even bother filling up their tiny takeout containers. You also have to order online, and they won't service you if you show up there. There are no paper menus, and they push everything to their website. So if you don't have a data plan, you're screwed. Like another reviewer said, they have become the face of gentrification. Oh, and don't bother asking for anything. Everything costs extra now. Asked for another dressing for my salad. $1.25 for a small ramekin. Coffee was still excellent. Though it was $7.

Google
We love this spot. It’s a favorite in the neighborhood and usually busy with Tulane students. Great food made by people that obviously care and have poured their hearts into their work here. The vibe is infectiously great as well. Never had a bad anything here!

Google
We were recommended to try this place by a friend and we are always looking for new places to try. We had sandwiches, I had the Cuban and my wife had a vegetarian sandwich. The sandwiches are a bit pricey, Although, we dont mind price if it means good quality. Both sandwiches were flavorful, but both severely lacked the "meat" of the sandwiches. My Cuban may have had 3oz of meat on the whole thing if I was lucky. My wife's sandwich was just vegetables and even that was halfway filled. Unfortunate for the price.

Yelp
Visited for the first time this weekend and no joke the shrimp and grits were the best I've ever had! Their iced lattes are wonderful too, I really enjoyed my s'mores latte that was topped with a marshmallow cold foam. The place is a cozy shop rooted in uptown, it's always a pleasure supporting small businesses. There is tons of out door seating outside too! The service was great, and my to-go order took no time to come out! I will absolutely be back on my next Nola trip!

Yelp
Perfect spot to catch a light and healthy breakfast or a bit of grease. Good coffee and OJ.

Yelp
Everything about this place is a 5 star. Food, service, and ambience is top tier. Prices were a bit higher than expected, but overall still great food.

Yelp
Just had the best time ever at Luca Eats. Amazing people, delicious food, 11/10!!! Decided to walk here because it's such a beautiful day, ordered a waffle and two drinks, sat outside to enjoy the great weather. About 10 minutes after ordering, they came out to tell us our order had gotten stuck in the computer (we weren't even wondering where anything was). 2 minutes later, our drinks come out with a complimentary piece of THE BEST banana bread ive ever tasted. Followed by our delicious waffle and great conversations with the lovely owners and staff!

Yelp
Great comfort food. Always consistent! Perfect place for local food! Service is great too

Sherri G.

Yelp
I like the menu but not the wait time I stopped there hoping for a quick bite and ordered the avocado toast and since everything is super fresh it took forever :-(
google avatar

Kimberly L.

Yelp
Service and food were great. It's a cute little hidden away spot close to Tulane with good ambiance inside and lots of tables outside. A little pricey but yummy!
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
The place nice, food is quick, I ordered a bowl of gumbo it was mostly juice, there was one piece of sausage and less than a spoon of rice not much flavor. I also tried the turkey avocado pesto not much to it- the bread was good and so were the chips Too pricey.

Yelp
I found this place thanks to a construction detour that brought me through blocks I wasn't familiar with. I was intrigued when I passed this little gem and promised myself I'd swing by at lunchtime to give it a try. I placed an order by phone for a steak sandwich for myself and a Cubano for my honey. Both were EXCELLENT! Everything about these pressed sandwiches was perfect! I will definitely be back, and soon. They serve tons of different coffees, and there was one made with Nutella that I'm planning to try next week. My only negative feedback is that the space is small and indoor seating is very limited. This seems fine on a nice day because there is some seating outside, but if the weather isn't cooperating you'll want to take your order to go.I won't remove a star from my rating, because quite honestly, I found this space charming. In conclusion, I loved my sandwich and the service was excellent.

Yelp
Luca Eats is a New Orleans coffee shop and café located in New Orleans near Tulane University and across from St. Mary's Cemetery at 7329 Cohn Street which is about 18 minutes and 5 miles away from the New Orleans French Quarter. This looks like a very cool place from the exterior and most of the seating is outside while the inside is a very small space with limited seating. Luca Eats was established back in 2016 and has become noted for their breakfast and lunch options where they serve locally roasted premium coffee and homemade hand-pressed sandwiches. It is on the more expensive side and I don't really find their sandwiches very filling. Overall I would personally prefer a poboy somewhere else. My video review of LUCA Eats is here: https://youtu.be/5SAhYsJPmIA

Traci K.

Yelp
This fun, quirky breakfast/lunch spot Uptown is a fav among Tulane and Loyola students and many others who live Uptown. I love the vegan options and the owner makes her own dressing for salads, yum! The coffee beats Starbucks especially the pistachio. This is a must visit!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food and great service! Both our sandwiches were PHENOMENAL . Def try the friend bell pepper rings too unique and great! Cute vibe too!

Kem R.

Yelp
I visited Luca Eats yesterday and tried the fried green tomato BLT and the fried Brussels sprouts based on the recommendations of other Yelp reviewers. I also ordered a fresh watermelon lemonade. Everything was outstanding! The sun-dried tomato aioli on the BLT made the sandwich something special! You can expect friendly service with a laid-back atmosphere. I highly recommend it! I will be back to try their extensive coffee menu.

Yelp
Tried this place out over the weekend. The Oreo beignets were good. The Cubano sandwich not so much and expensive for the size. Also, the inside of my sandwich did not appear to have the ingredients that were listed on the menu. Most of the other customers had drinks so this seems to be more of a beverage place than a food place. Most of the seating was outside as the inside was very small and loud due to the music playing. The outside seating was fine except for the amount of flies you had to keep swatting at to eat your food. I would be willing to try this place again for the Oreo beignets and a coffee, just to see if I have a different experience.

M F.

Yelp
I had shrimp and grits sandwich. I wasn't expecting a runny rue INSIDE a bread pocket. It was messy and a little too salty. Also, the music was too loud (we could hardly talk) and when I asked if they would turn it down, the owner said "No." Probably other dishes are better, so I give them some credit.

Yelp
If I ever move out of New Orleans, Luca Eats will be at the top of my list for places to visit during my stay here. Not only is this establishment wonderfully located in the Uptown Area, they have plenty of outside and inside seating for you to enjoy the area. The owners are always there and *always* so sweet to the guests. I have had the chocolate chip banana bread probably ~5 times now, and when I tell you... I like to think I make a good banana bread, but Luca Eats wins this category. Their coffee is also a favorite, with them offering a large variety of flavors. I've had the chorizo and egg breakfast sandwich, and it was quite the delight! It is slightly messy (for me, anyway), so be careful because I dropped some on my new shoes (good times). Their crawfish ettouffee will leave your mouth salivating- it's so full of flavor and screams New Orleans cuisine. Lastly, my friends rave about the Spinach & Artichoke croissant. I would highly recommend Luca Eats for a quick eat while you're in the area or even if you're searching for places to take visiting friends!

Yelp
LUCA eats has some of the BEST café sandwiches! They have so many options that I was so torn on what to order, but I ended up getting the Grilled Chicken Panini and it was really filling & delicious. I also ordered a medium Iced Coffee with Almond Milk, but it was not so great. It really lacked flavor and even after adding sweetener, I wasn't a fan. Their Iced Chais and Lemonades are delicious though, and the lucchiatos look really good--might try that next time I go! Something important to note is that their menu online does not match the menu they have in store via QR code. Definitely check the QR code for more options/differing prices before ordering! Would definitely come back again--the staff was so nice & they have nice indoor and outdoor seating!

Molly M.

Yelp
The food is always amazing. They fulfill orders quickly with amazing customer service!! I love Luca Eats.

Morgan T.

Yelp
Not allowed to bring outside drinks anywhere near this place, the blonde behind the counter got mad at us that we brought our free drinks from my girlfriends job. We wanted to support this buisness but we were turned away before we could order to go**. Very rude and made little effort to try an explain that it was a policy just kicked us out. Word for word "no outside drinks inside or on the patio" as we were looking at menus to order food pretty weird experience. Considering we were still trying to spend money there no other solutions were presented just told us to leave. Totally understandable if they asked us to order to go but they took it personal that we brought drinks that we got for free into the establishment....

Yelp
This place is in a really cool area. You can take out of town guests here and sit outside across the street of the above ground graves. No other city has that kind of ambience. When you get there, you order inside. The place is SMALL. It is basically a bunch of stools along the window and maybe one or two tables in the corner. I think the owner greeted and couldn't be friendlier. They have an extensive list of food for a coffee shop. I really liked all the options. During Mardi Gras they sell small Caluda's king cakes at the front desk. When placing your order, you place it at the front and pay, so easy if you need a place to do separate checks. I don't think they had any booze sold here but plenty of drinks and the king cake latte with the works is what I ordered for my drink. Wow! It was really good, super sugary - which I like - and just masterfully presented, with a king cake baby and all. For food, I ordered the bell pepper fried rings. It was a play on onion rings but I felt this was better! They were crunchy and didn't have too much battered covered on them. I also ordered the shrimp and grits po'boy. Who the crap would have though to put shrimp n grits in a po'boy? You would think it would be a soggy mess, but it wasn't. The bread was not cut the roof of your mouth hard, it was a really nice softer po'boy bread and made this entree delectable. I loved it. The only negative with this place is the majority of the seating is outside so if its freezing cold or sweltering hot, it is not the best. But again you get to look at those beautiful and unique above ground graves. Very unique New Orleans. I loved it and if someone asks where can i get the most variety of food from a coffee shop, Luca Eats is always the answer.

Yelp
I heard about Luca's while rehabbing my broken shoulder and I have been dying to try it. Right now the city is making it difficult to get there by digging up most of the neighborhood but I urge you to persevere. Trust me - it's worth it! I had a steak sandwich that nothing short of spectacular! The steak, the house made horseradish sauce and the grilled onions were perfection. The bread was crisp without being tough as ciabatta can sometimes be. I was full halfway through but I couldn't stop until I had eaten the whole thing. If I could change anything it would be to have Coke Zero as a soft drink option. I can't wait to go back!

kat b.

Yelp
Great menu with tons of options. Yummy coffee and my fav mocha! Fresh muffins are a hit ! The staff is extremely kind and welcoming and the HANDS ON local owners really make a difference! On a nice day sitting outside next to the cemetery really gives that Nola feel! We will different be back. Oh and pup friendly they even gave her a treat
google avatar

Imran S.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Luca Eats for a while but their limited always made it difficult to try. I finally made it the other day and tried the brusssel sprouts, the southern pecan salad, and the veggie sandwich (which came with chips). The brussel sprouts were good, could've used a bit more flavor and seasoning but were cooked well; the southern pecan salad was average and overpriced for what was offered; the chips with the sandwich were amazing; the sandwich was decent with a good portion-size, good flavor and healthy ingredients. Overall it was good food and nice portions - but it was a bit overpriced and the food lacked some flavor
google avatar

Francesca S.

Yelp
Came here last year and I still think about it! Their coffee and food were so good we went every morning on my trip! The seasonal coffee at the time was Peeps which was a marshmallow flavor and I've been looking for something similar near me since but it's not the same. Such a cute place, will be back when I visit the area again.
google avatar

Noa A.

Yelp
Cutest vibes and so yummy! Very friendly workers too. I loved the toasted marshmallow latte I got! Also their house made chips are delish
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Wow. Best avocado toast ever! Sat outside and enjoyed the view. Unpretentious and sooo good. We were short on time, so I can't wait to go back and try so many other dishes!

Tony L.

Yelp
Best place to grab a delicious lunch. Excellent vibe and the staff goes above and beyond.
google avatar

Chandler D.

Yelp
Luca eats and so do I I love the location! Their outdoor seating is perfect for a beautiful fall day. Turkey Pesto- turkey, pesto mayo, avocado, applewood bacon, smoked gouda, and my favorite part sourdough bread Cubano- pulled pork, deli ham, swiss cheese, bread and buttered pickles, yellow mustard, and french bread What I will be back for... those oreo beignets and the chorizo and egg sandwich Warning if you are going during a beautiful day during the peak of lunch time expect a wait. It is worth it but make sure you aren't starving and hangry upon arrival. Lol. #noladelights

Lorena R.

Yelp
We came here today, a random Tuesday because we didn't know where we should grab a quick bite. I came across Luca eats, so we decided to give it a try. I'm really glad we did because it did not disappoint. I got the shrimp and grits bowl and my husband got a bowl of gumbo. Both were absolutely delicious. The restaurant is kind of small, but there's plenty of seating outside. The workers were super friendly as well. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Carroll V.

Yelp
A hidden neighborhood treasure that was developed from a circa 1940 Art Deco gas station--and located next to a historic cemetery. So I'm there for the weird setting--but everyone else comes for the breakfast sandwiches and lunch paninis. (They have a good selection of salads too). They serve everything from morning to mid afternoon closing. Excellent coffee--well balanced vanilla latte is recommended. The paninis range from traditional--grilled chicken and veggies ones--to down right fun: the pepper pepper pepper grilled cheese with red and green peppers. Lots of outdoor seating with umbrellas--inside seating is more limited. They do a booming take-away business if you are on the run. Street parking. Only negative--the Oreo beignets is a fun concept but not carried off well. Lumpy, groopy, not recommended

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Loved the avocado toast on sourdough as well as the apple and brie sandwich on a croissant . Great casual vibe and outside seating only

Nessa G.

Yelp
The workers are very friendly, the food is SUPER delicious, the restaurant itself is a very cute spot to dine at. It is a bit on the expensive side, but it's totally worth it!
google avatar

Kasie M.

Yelp
It was great! I had the beet and Brussels salad and it was excellent. There's limited parking due to construction, but it was worth it to navigate around that.
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
Luca is a cool restaurant in the middle of a quiet neighborhood with delicious meals made to order. Luca eats is a pet friendly spot so fur babies are welcome. They have a nice outdoor eating area & some unique eye catching art work inside. Luca has some awesome crisy flavorful rosemary house made chips. I also was able to try the chicken salad sandwich that was on a buttery croissant & turkey pesto sandwich that was warmed on a Panini Press. They had delicious chicken and sausage gumbo too with a good portion of meat. The last was my favorite the Oreo Beignets Delicious this cookie turned pastry w a dash of powdered sugar is worth the trip alone! I definitely recommend checking this spot out & will return.
google avatar

Bella B.

Yelp
Cute place inside with lots of options! If you work in the area and need a quick healthy lunch option this place has you covered! Would I eat here again? Absolutely not Flies buzzing around me and my food Salad served in plastic container despite my dining in status Salad was quick convenient healthy but nonetheless boring Maybe I'll go back and get Brussels next time
google avatar

Shalon P.

Yelp
Such a cute place. There's even a little dining nook with a few small tables and GORGEOUS art on the walls. The watermelon lemonade is Soooo good. Tastes like summertime The Cubano is delicious! The mustard and pickles really add the tang that pulls it together. Bread is pressed so it's crispy. It also comes with these homemade chips. Definitely don't skip the chips. So good Corn grits are ok. Not really the level of creaminess that warrants a spot on a menu with such great sandwiches. They're decent though. The white chocolate bread pudding is ok as well. It's decent. Oreo beignets is where the money is. Can't wait to come back to get them. I'll be back to try more of their menu

Emily B.

Yelp
Really good food and service but a little pricey. We enjoyed sitting outside. The food was very fresh

Josh Y.

Yelp
Come on y'all. You can't be taking an hour to serve up sandwiches and salads. A lot of your menu is assembling ingredients- don't even need to wait on stuff to cook! I get that you're short staffed, but if you can't find enough people to work, raise your prices and pay the wages that get you enough slack for competent service.
google avatar

Dee m.

Yelp
Cool little place to eat outside if you don't mind looking over at a cemetery which we have no problem with. Comfortable seating outside, friendly service. We split the chicken panini & chips. It was so very good. We will return for another.
google avatar

Nat B.

Yelp
Some of the best food and coffee in Nola. and the Oreo beignets are to die for. Very friendly staff.
google avatar

Jenny K.

Yelp
everything is 10/10, this place is the best for breakfast and lunch! You must try their oreo beignets, they are perfect. I recommend the lunch and breakfast sandwiches my favorites are the bacon egg and cheese / turkey pesto !
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Having returned to this local sandwich place for another try, I'm pleased to report that I had a better service experience this time around, and got my food within a reasonable period (maybe five minutes perusing the menu and waiting in line and less than ten from ordering my food to receiving it). As I'd hoped, it is more delicious fresh. Their menu doesn't quite align with my tastes, but the stuff I can order they execute very well. A "pepper pepper pepper" grilled cheese makes for a fascinating exploration of the various botanically unrelated plants to acquire this moniker (other English-speaking countries call them by different names), a bit sweet and wholly satisfying. Their veggie press, though is more likely what I'd return for. Either way, you get a nice serving of some thick house-cut chips with rosemary. Their sides have been winners too, including fried peppers and hummus (with carrots or chips, of which I chose the former because I'm getting chips anyway with the sandwich). The one breakfast sandwich I cared to try was an apple and cheese one that smelled nice but didn't excite; I'll probably stick to lunch with them. Their avocado on toast has a fantastic butter-based sauce and an ample amount of actual avocado. I may yet try their shakes and desserts, but I've been quite full for the money so far.
google avatar

Eva H.

Yelp
The only thing that really bothers me about LUCA eats is that it doesn't have more seating! Their Oreo Beignets are to DIE for. Could not have said better things about the food. Also, forgot to note that the hours and days their open are sometimes inconsistent and I have showed up multiple times when it wasn't open):
google avatar

Lee M.

Yelp
Good food and coffee in a local, uptown joint. What is not to like with this locally owned and affordable café. The service here was quick and everyone was upbeat and cheery on a weekday morning. If you are in this 'hood, this is THE place to stop for an affordable breakfast or lunch.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
Stumbled across this gem for a quick lunch to get outside of the office. It's super cute the inside is nice and quaint full of super cute art. There is also outside seating that's super cute and cozy. I got the grilled chicken panini and it was yummy I also loved the chips. I'm usually iffy about house-made chips with sandwiches but these ones were pretty good. I also got the watermelon limeade! And wow so refreshing and yummy, definitely a huge fan of it. And definitely can't visit without getting the Oreo beignets. Think fried Oreos but better
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Honestly my favorite breakfast/ lunch spot in nola!! One of the only places you can go on the weekend and receive exceptional service and promptly! The food is amazing and the coffee and matcha is too! All of the employees are kind and welcoming and overall I just love this place so much!
google avatar

Jayla T.

Yelp
Food-5 Ambience-3 Service-5 Searching for a place to eat after church, my boyfriend and I came across this little gem! It's so close to where I live I'm upset that I never found it sooner! The workers were very helpful to my always inquisitive partner and also very nice. I got the green tomato BLT with a side of house made chips, and he got the shrimp and grits sandwich (sounds weird, I know). My sandwich had some kind of savory special sauce, which complemented the tomatoes and bacon perfectly. And DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THESE HOUSE MADE CHIPS! I just want to purchase a huge bag of them and take it home with me! Seasoned so perfectly, and boyfriend kept trying to steal them off my plate (insert angry face emoji here). He thoroughly enjoyed his meal, and we could not stop raving about this place for at least 15 minutes after we left. He even went back again the next day or two lol. They have lots of seating outside, but we couldn't enjoy it since it was raining. There is seating inside, nothing special but somewhere to enjoy your meal. Will definitely be coming back to this place time and time again.

Mike C.

Yelp
Awesome place for breakfast/brunch. Great food. Friendly staff. My wife and I always eat here with our daughter when we're in NOLA. This time we got the crispy fried brussel sprouts, fried bell pepper rings, bacon egg and cheese sandwich, avocado toast, steak sandwich and oreo beignets. It was all great. Recommend it all.
google avatar

Daniel P.

Yelp
The staff of this place are very friendly. I came with a good friend and girlfriend. We ordered a good bit of different varieties and we were all very happy with what we got! I would like to say that the Oreo beignets are a MUST. So good it made me wanna....eat more. The fried Brussel sprouts were bomb. The steak and egg sandwich?...bomb. The bread pudding...bomb. Waffles? Bomb. They whole menu pretty lit. I highly recommend coming to this place!
