We had an amazing time trying many creative and quality cocktails, and the food is absolutely fantastic. The extensive ceviche and small plates menu was a highlight for us. We tried ceviche clásico and camarón, the short ribs and lamb lollipops, and the ribeye and chicken, and everything was so flavorful and perfect. Bartenders and other staff were friendly and helpful. Felipe was amazing as our bartender. Will return next time in town!

Last minute brunch in the area with 2 women friends, we sat at the bar where we could see the care put into cocktail creation. Staff were caring and friendly. Food was fresh and delicious. I had the mushroom sandwich (spicy!) and an exquisitely presented side of avocado. Love the decor in this place, the color scheme, the earthy ceramics and the accessories are on point. Will be back for happy hour!

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. I had a fantastic dining experience here with my husband this past week. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the service was fantastic! Everyone from the host to our server to the food runner were pleasant and knowledgeable. We ordered two cocktails from their specialty menu that were delicious and had the empanada trio, the scallops, and potatoes. All were wonderful and I would order them again. Especially the scallops, they were amazing! Highly recommend this for a date night spot or a fun dinner place. Would love to see these owners open up more businesses in the area!

Really enjoyable experience! Our server was attentive, the place is super clean and crisp, definitely a good date location. When the manager saw there wasn't anyone at our immediate table, they asked if we were being served, just to make sure we were accounted for. I say, if you come here, go get the ceviche and that alone. It has the layers and complexity I was expecting from a joint like this. It sucks that I feel like they don't give you enjoy plantain chips for the ceviche. But where they really lose you are brunch items. My girlfriend found the El Jardinero a bit too oily. The Arroz Tapado is A LOT of rice. Don't get me wrong, I'm a rice boy, but it's extremely one note. And it says sweet fried plantains but I got one haha. The pan con chicharron was good but, I don't know, I've had better chicharron, by a lot.

I visited Lucuma intending to sup there before it got buzzy and I needed a reservation weeks in advance! The place is worth a visit - date night or comfort food night. The ambiqnce is something otherworldly...almost like a dreamy set. I would take someone here just to impress them with the cane animals. Vegetarians have ample options. Even though the main course does not explicitly tell you this, three of them can be made without meat. We ordered 6 different starters and turned it into a tapas night. The plantain chips came out first. I found saltless and lacking, but they made for good munching. The pequenitos(?) came out next and they were an interesting combo of egg rolls and cheese with a guava syrup. The flavors worked only in this mix! The Pisco sour mocktail came out next I found it a bit citrus forwaed, but definitely refreshing. The potato cake was one of the stars of the evening. It looked like a watermelon sandwich, but was anything but that. Spicy and perfectly gooey it embodied the fusion cuisine this place will be known for. The mushroom empanada was divine. From the crunch to the stuffing to the dip ... They were all a match made in heaven The Yucca fries came out next with the same sauce. I found them a little too chewy and under salted like their plantain cousin. And finally the mushroom chicharonnes. They were relatively unremarkable, but with the magic sauce, they more than filled me. I will have to pay a visit again and attempt take eat through the main course next!

Food is of excellent quality; they also go above and beyond with presentation. Ordering multiple dishes and sharing seems to be really the best way to go. We were able to get seated without reservations twice in a row, but last time we were given a time limit as they had been fully booked past a certain hour. Strongly recommend!

This was the most memorable food experience I have had in a long time. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors could not be any better. My partner and I tried 2 ceviche’s and they were both a hit. I love the sweet potato! The lamb, was phenomenal, the drinks were the best. We got both types of pisco sours and they were the best. All in all I can’t say enough good things. Next week I plan to go there for brunch. I think it’s going to be my new spot.

Three of us went there for a birthday lunch and we all chose the entree plus main course lunch menu at $35. We started off with the ceviche which was fresh and the sweet potatoes were a good balance but I found the marinate very salty. The pulled chicken entree was tasty but the potatoes were devoid of any taste. The anise cheesecake and chocolate cream were well executed and tasty.

We have been to this restaurant twice now and it is fabulous! The staff is wonderful and attentive and the food is so delicious and the variety is great. Definitely make a reservation. You really do not want to miss this lively new addition to the downtown Oakland area. It is close to BART, bus lines and parking can definitely be found.

Stumbled across this place after an indoor soccer match at SOFIVE soccer center / aka the Bladium. We made reservations online, got there a bit early, and they were able to sit us right away for a party of 5. Everything was super delicious, but the short ribs were outshined by every other item we ordered, that it was left uneaten. The drinks were amazing, both the cocktails and the maracuya and chicha morada. The ceviche was delicious and super fresh tasting. The chuletas / rack of lamb had my family drooling. The tallarines verdes were devoured by everyone and the medium rare steak was cooked to perfection (this might have been everyone's favorite dish). We also ordered chicharron de pollo which was a super nice surprise to everyone that it was above and beyond our expectations. For dessert we got the banana flambé which my mother in law drank up the syrup after... yes it was that good... and yes... she probably has diabetes now. 100% recommend this place. It will be our go to after soccer games for sure.

Lucuma is an absolutely great spot for dinner! The inside is beautiful, with different decor and fixtures. At night, the lights are dim creating a cozy atmosphere. Be sure to make reservations because this place is usually booked up! They do have a time limit once you sit down at your table. The food was exceptional! Everything came out quickly, was beautifully plated and tasty. They have a fun cocktail menu featuring specialty Peruvian drinks. Our server was kind and able to answer any questions we had about the menu. We will definitly be returning!

Hip sexy spot for a girls night, food is a bit plain but overall OK Creamy ceviche - the most flavorful dish. There was a good balance of texture, flavors and acidity. Aji gallina - very plain tasting, unclear why the server loved it, it was on the lines of boiled chicken. I expected a stronger flavor given the colors. Also I felt that the dairy smelled funny or old in this dish Chicharrones pollo - standard fried chicken. I like all types of fried chicken, this is good but did not wow me Green mashed potatoes and steak - better than the typical take on the fries and steak dish. Picarones - highly recommended by our server , but super plain between the 3 of us we left 1 while donut. It's basically plain fried dough with sauce, however texture and taste did not hit Service was good, Ambience was modern, cute and lively Overall it's a cute date spot. However if you're looking to be wowed by the food it does fall short. They have a variety of things on the menu though so it has return value

Cute new Peruvian restaurant in downtown Oakland. Service and Staff: - We made a reservation ahead of time, so we were seated quickly - All of the staff members were nice and made sure to check on everyone Food and Drinks: - Pisco Punch: this drink was massive. It came in a goblet-like glass and delivered on the tartness - Old Fashioned: the presentation was fun and you could smell the smoke whenever a different table ordered this drink as well - Ceviche Clasico: refreshing, delicious, flavorful. Would order again - Ceviche Nikei: fun Asian fusion flare to this with the soy sauce flavors and cucumbers. Would order again - Lomo Saltado: my go-to dish at any Peruvian restaurant. They did a fun twist to this with their home French fries (potato wedges with sauce) instead of French fries - Donuts: this dish was interesting. The sauce tastes burnt and the donuts were gooey / chewy instead of fluffy and airy. Miscellaneous: - There is one unisex bathroom in the back - The restaurant is quite narrow, so would be difficult to navigate with a wheelchair or stroller - Parking is available via street parking - The decor is fun - a lot of thought was put into it

My friend and I made an early reservation for 4:30pm on a Monday night. I honestly thought that this was silly so early in the evening, but the place does get full, so make sure you have a reservation! To summarize, I would love to come back as most of the food was lovely, but they need to work out some service issues. Things we ordered: *Ceviche Classico - this was very basic and honestly, it had no flavor and was kind of watery. I would want to try other ceviches. *Yucca fries - these were delicious, but each of us had one that had a wooden skewer or something in it? *Tequenitos (with shrimp and cheese) - these were like little wontons and delicious! It came with passionfruit sauce, but it didn't quite go with the dish (for me), and I ended up pouring it over some of the ceviche to give it some sort of flavor. *Papa a la huancaina - this was tasty We also got a couple of drinks. I tried the NA Pisco sour (it was a bit sweet) and the Flor de Maíz which was a lovely drink. Lastly, we finished with the chocolucuma dream, which was delicious (I wish there was more cake and less whipped cream). Overall, the food was mostly solid and I'd come back. I will say that the place gets loud, as in there's music and people are fairly loud as is, so I would come back and maybe sit at the bar as that might make it easier to chat. The thing that did annoy me though was the service. Our server brought our dessert, and quite literally, as we each took one bite, he brought out our check, put it down and said no rush. I genuinely didn't remember there was a time limit on the table, and it would have been nice to be reminded when we sat down, because him coming back three times within a couple of minutes of dropping it off was jarring and uncomfortable. He then came over and told us there was another reservation that would need to be seated, so no rush, but... I'm all for tables having time limits and respect that completely, but I'm also used to being reminded gently when I sit down, not just having someone passive aggressively trying to get me to pay when I'm just starting on dessert. This also felt odd because there was an empty two-top right next to us. Anyways, feels like a quirk they can work out easily.

This small but mighty Peruvian restaurant is amazing! We made a reservation in advance and I suggest you do to! The service is all about the details and they pay attention to every detail. The small shared plates menu was delicious and delivered a great amount of food for our continued birthday celebration. We order almost everything on the menu and almost stayed for dinner but our reservation time was up. The bartender kept our drinks flowing at our table and we even got desserts! I will say a must here is the ENSALADA CÉSAR and anything from the shared plates menu. Try this place out and tell Lucuma Kitchen and Bar to keep the drinks and food coming!

I believe this was my first time having Peruvian food at a restaurant and I can't believe I haven't had it before. They made this restaurant very aesthetically pleasing but also their food is delicious, and I'm so glad I got to try their brunch menu. I ordered the Arroz Tapado and I can't wait to try it again. Everything was so tasty. Their staff were also friendly and also helpful when my friends and I asked for recommendations.

This is my first time and Oakland and I was impressed! We came quite late to the restaurant without a reservation and they were able to accommodate our rowdy party of 4 late night. Their service was amazing! They checked in on us often and were upbeat and positive. Their cocktails were also amazing! It's definitely on the pricey side, but all the food and cocktails were wonderful. The sour with ginger was sooo good, now one of my favorite cocktails! Great place to celebrate a birthday, date night, girls night. Make a reservation and don't walk in like we did :)

Had a 6:15 dinner reservation, but we got there around 6. They said our table wouldn't be ready yet so we had the option to either sit and wait by the bathroom or sit at the "walk-in" bar temporarily until the table was ready. The place is arranged like a long skinny hallway and and it's packed for dinner, every single table was full and they essentially had endless reservations. The decor was very cohesive and modern, matching the cuisine, but because it is so cramped, it feels very claustrophobic. The chairs at the bar are very close to the neighboring guest as well. The portions were surprisingly HUGE and the flavors came through in each dish. Paella peruana de tierra - 8/10 unfortunately we did not have this fresh because we were sooo stuffed from everything else we ordered. We took it togo and re-heated it on a wok and it was just as good. Pescado a lo macho - 9/10 The fish of the day was a red snapper. It paired so well with the sauce and the mix of other seafood. This was our favorite dish! We wish the coconut rice was a bit more soft and had more coconut-taste, but it was the perfect amount to accompany the dish. Asado de mamita - 8/10 So close to being perfect. The meat was extremely soft and fell apart easily. The mash potato was very warming and comforting, but we wish there were just a couple more spoons of sauce on top to season the portions of meat that weren't on the top. Crispy camarones - 9/10 shrimp 2/10 quinoa. The coconut shrimp SHOCKED US! This is must order because the flavor was just right, the size was big, and cook/snap on the shrimp was great. However, the quinoa had no flavor and didn't feel necessary to this shareable. Only the bites reached by the passionfruit sauce were flavorful. Definitely would come again come as a date night! Also would try a drink next time and order less.

We had a reservation and it was *PACKED* when we got there. Drinks are fun and look beautiful! We started with the chinito ceviche and the pulpo al olivo. Make sure you get the plantain chips. The pulpo was my favorite bite of the night! Would come back again for this dish alone!!! For mains we got the tallarines verdes and the paella Persians de Tierra. The steak was cooked perfectly and the pesto pasta complimented it perfectly. That said, it's steak and pasta- good, but I think I'd skip it to try more of the menu next time. The paella was VERY flavorful and PROTEIN forward (which we loved!!!). I will say that I'm a big fan of the burnt crispy rice on the bottom of the paella pan and unfortunately this dish didn't have that. BUT I'll give them a pass bc the flavor was spot on and they made up for it in the amount of protein. I will be back!!

The food here was so delicious!! Presentation and platting was nice and thought out. The drinks were hella good! Managed to get seated on a busy Saturday night dinner for 2 was very happy to finally try this place out will be back for drinks and appetizers! Lomo Saltado was the highlight for me tho it was so flavorful and well seasoned.

Lucuma Kitchen & Bar opened where Wise Sons Jewish Deli once was. Interior totally renovated. Entrance on 17th St. side, not at corner. Entered. Greeted at front desk. Was Asked if I had a reservation. "No" said I. Got assigned to a seat at the bar. Lunch Offerings (Peru): brunch items, crudo(ceviche) Bites: Ceviche Cremoso (25) came in 9 minutes. -fresh catch of the day (red snapper) ceviche served in secret house sauce: leche de tigre, aji limo. All tasted fresh, exquisite. *leche de Tigre usually made with fish stock from ceviche fish, chili peppers, salt, red onion, garlic, ginger, celery, cilantro. Secret ingredient an addendum to list. -accompanied by piece of steam yam, fried corn, corn niblets. Ceviche garnished with red onion schreds, cilantro, red wine, red pepper slices. -ate red snapper morsels dipped in sauce while also pairing it with the sides. -so much better than the usual ceviche. Sauce has nuanced savory, semi-spicy, mellow sweet notes. Pan con Chicharron sandwich (19) came in 20 min. -"classic Peruvian pork sandwich" filled with shredded moist pork shreds, salsa criolla(cilantro, red onions, aji Amarillo peppers) lotsa baked? Sweet potato chucks with aioli for dipping. Tastes better than the usual Cubano. 5 stars worthy! Pricey though. Quality:,excellent Quantity: too ingredients utilized.

Such a cute, bustling restaurant with delicious food. This little place gets busy! Make a reservation. 90 minute time limit per table. That being said, the staff are very friendly, attentive and food comes out quickly so we didn't feel rushed. I enjoyed everything we had but the short rib and the aji de gallina were the stars of the show. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. The drinks are delicious too!

Stopped by Lucuma after church on a Sunday. We were seated quickly, though it seemed they were still gearing up for the brunch rush, so a few menu items weren't available. The decor inside is adorable (see pics!)--bright, inviting, and a great place to have a meal. I started with the Iced Incan Gold Latte--made with house-made lucuma manjar (with notes of maple, sweet potato, and caramel) and espresso. You can also swap the espresso for ceremonial-grade matcha. Mine was excellent--smooth, not too sweet, and the natural sweetness from the maple and sweet potato kept it light. 4.5/5. For crudo, we shared two: * Tiradito Clásico - wild salmon with creamy aji amarillo, rocoto, and giant Peruvian corn. The flavors were spot on, and the corn was meaty and satisfying. We added plantain chips (worth it for the crunch and slight sweetness, though they took a while to arrive). 4.5/5. * Cremoso - fresh catch in a secret house leche de tigre with aji limo. That sauce was divine--tangy, creamy, fresh, and addictive. 4.7/5. We also split the El Jardinero--a potato and sweet potato hash with fried eggs, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Solid breakfast hash, and I loved the sweetness from the sweet potatoes, though it reminded me of something I'd make at home. 4/5. Definitely planning to come back to try their non-brunch menu--especially more of the crudos.

Based on other reviews I made an early reservation for dinner to avoid having to wait. I arrived to a nearly empty restaurant and was seated quickly. I started with the semilla segrada drink, which was delicious. I ordered the crudo next, there are so many to choose from! For my entree I ordered the tacacho con atun, the tuna was overdone, so I could only eat from the middle, which was unfortunate but at least it was edible. Dessert was a Peruvian play on tiramisu and honestly, was the best part of the meal. Definitely recommend the dessert, I'm going back just for that! The restaurant is a decent size, but they squeeze too many tables in, which is probably why it can become incredibly noisy and make for a less pleasant experience. There were plenty of open tables, but a couple was seated right next to me and they were very loud. Parking is on the street, and this area can be particularly hard to find a spot. Overall I would go back, especially for dessert!

Really wanted to love this spot when I first heard about it. After a recent trip to Peru, I knew I had to try it out. With a Saturday dinner reservation at 7PM, we were immediately received and seated. I recommend making a reservation since the place was packed on a Saturday evening. Service was nice, kind of sporadic since it seemed like we were being helped by a different person with every interaction. One instance led to some soiled silverware falling into my partner's lap when being collected by a server at the table next to us. Some room for improvement. What was more of a letdown was the food. We ordered the ceviche, lamb chops, empanada, and paella to share among 2 people. The highlight of the night was the ceviche, paired well with the plantain chips. I enjoyed it a lot! The lamb chop order came with 2, and both were overly charred, but the meat itself was delicious. The empanada we had was good, not super standout. Paella was the biggest letdown, with how salty it was. Overall, happy to say that I tried Lucuma. I'd like to give them another chance for happy hour and cocktails.

It's such a beautiful, warm and welcoming place! I will admit that I knew next to nothing about Peruvian food, so it was truly an adventure for me and my companion. We sat at the bar and were able to watch the cooks make magic while we enjoyed our cocktails and amazing food. I had the Brisa Andina cocktail, made with pisco, lime and cucumber. SO refreshing and tasty! We decided to share plates. We ordered two dishes from the crudo menu; the Tiradito Classico , which was such an inspired creation of flavors featuring salmon that melted in our mouths , and Tiradito Nikei which was Ahi tuna with a soy chili sauce. The fish in both dishes was very fresh. We also had the beef empanadas, which may have been the best empanadas I have ever had. The pastry was fluffy and crunchy on the outside, and the meat was delicately spiced, yet had layers of flavor. The yucca fries were crispy and delectable. For dessert we had Chocolúcuma. Wow! Neither of us had ever had lucuma before, and it was presented so beautifully in layers with creamy "gold of the Incas" (lacuma) and chocolatey goodness. Service was spot on! Lots of attention, but not bothersome, just very skillful placing of the plates and drinks while clearing our space as we journeyed through our food adventure. Staff very helpful in explaining the menu and making sure that everything was perfect along the way. The minute we finished our bottle of water there was another one that appeared before our eyes I think maybe two seconds went by. Spectacular!

Just came in here for brunch on a Saturday. My wife and I sat at the bar and absolutely loved it. Felipe was the bartender and made excellent suggestions. If I could have handled it I would have ordered every cocktail on the menu. My wife and I got the empanadas, I got the pan con chicharron and my wife got the tamale. Food was amazing and cool bar and ambiance. Can't wait to come back

A friend recommend this place since we'd be attending an event in Oakland. It did not disappoint! We arrived around 5pm without reservations. Luckily there were two open seats at the bar, so we took it. The next opening was 6pm, but we didn't want to wait. About 10 minutes in, I heard the host say the next opening is at 9pm. That 6pm spot got taken quickly! The host was very friendly, and so was our server. Our server helped me decide on a cocktail. I went with their classic Pisco Sour. My wife ordered the Brisa Andina. Both very good drinks. I could hardly taste the alcohol in either drink! We ordered a couple of appetizers and a dessert, no entrees. The Cremoso ceviche is so good, especially with the plantain chips, which is a side order. We also ordered the Causa Criolla sampler, which was such a great idea. Being able to try all 3 was a treat because they're all so good. For dessert, we got the Chocolucuma, which is a chocolate dulce de leche cake in a mug. The presentation is so cute! It was also very good. Much bigger than I had expected, so we couldn't finish it. They had alfajores on the menu too. We were stuffed but really wanted to try it, so we ordered it to go. I'll have to update my review once I try it. Overall, the service and food is top notch! Drinks and food came out quickly. The ambiance is really nice too. They have music playing, which wasn't blaring! Thank goodness we could actually hear each other speak. Definitely one to try!

this restaurant is a great new addition to Oakland's downtown! the ambiance is great for a date, birthday, or just a fun night out. parking around this area is a little tough as a lot of signs are only for 1hr parking so i suggest parking in the garage around the corner. the food was great and staff was really friendly! now let's talk about the food: asada de mamita - 8/10 very flavorful and a good portion chicken empanada - 9/10 might be the best chicken empanada i've ever had salmon andino con hingos 8/10 another really good portion of both the fish and side would order again!

I apologize in advance for this sappy review... There is something magical happening at Lucuma and it comes from intentionality. From the warmth and kindness of literally everyone on the team to the ingredients in the drinks, you can tell every single detail was considered. And the most impressive part is that it all seems so effortless. This is my third visit. The first two visits I had the brunch menu which was phenomenal. And when I thought it couldn't get any better I came on Thanksgiving and shared three tapas. The first was their Caesar salad--delicious. Followed by the lamb chops and scallops. Against better intuition, I'm not going to go into too much detail about the food because I am true believer that you have to experience it yourself. Nothing I say will do the scallops or lamb chops justice. Just know the food is consistently exceptional. This place is so approachable from the vibe of the restaurant, to the team making everything happen, to the food. I do not know of another place in the Bay Area where you can get a similar experience. I'm going to keep coming back until I try everything on the menu. Lucuma just gained a new regular.

We had a wonderful experience our first time trying Lucuma. Great ambiance, beautiful bar. Server was efficient and friendly. 2 of us shared small plates, drinks, and dessert, ~$200 w/ tip. Highlights were the lamb chops and 'clásico' ceviche. Alfajores were supersweet but had a wonderful crumbly cookie. Pisco sour and chilcano were tasty. So happy this spot is in the neighborhood.

Went here last night for a belated birthday dinner with my family. My stepdad is from Perú, so I grew up with Peruvian food and I knew that this place was going to be either a big hit or miss for the family. First of all, wanted to say that it is space is gorgeous! I used to go the beauty's bagels that was in this spot all the time and it is amazing to see it so transformed! The service was also 10/10, very kind and accommodating folks. I'll start with the drinks: Incan Old fashioned - my stepdad ordered this and I tried it and really liked it Brisa Andina - my mom got this and it was super herbaceous and refreshing Chilcano - my partner got this and liked it, I was a little underwhelmed, but I've had a lot of chilcanos in my life. It was also the only drink that came with smaller ice cubes instead of one big long one, so it got watered down quickly Semilla sagrada - this is what I got and it was absolutely delicious Flor de maíz - my partner got this as a second drink and it was tasty, a lot more light and refreshing than I expected Elixir de chamán - this was my second drink and it was absolutely my favorite of all the ones I tried. There was a lot of depth/layers of flavor! The food: Tiradito clásico - this was the best thing we ate all night, hands down. Refreshing and a little spicy and just really capturing the flavors of Peruvian ceviche. My stepdad ordered this before I got there and he had asked for a white fish instead of salmon so they gave us snapper instead of the salmon, which was on the menu. Chicharrones de hongos - really juicy, fried mushrooms with pollera sauce. Very tasty, would definitely get again! Tacacho con atún - the broccolini and the plantain cake were the stars of this dish, sooo tasty. The tuna was overcooked so it was a little dry and tougher than I might want it. Anticuchos - I didn't try them but I heard they were good! Ají de gallina - this is where things went south. I am pescatarian so I didn't try it, but apparently it was veryyy salty (my stepdad is the kind of person who puts extra salt on everything and had already asked for salt for the table. If he thinks it's salty then something is very wrong). His and my mom's review was that it tasted like someone took a jar of the sauce and poured it over the chicken. It did look much less creamy than a traditional ají de gallina would be. The staff were very kind and replaced it for paella which again I did not try. The review I got was that it was a bit wet and seemed more like a risotto than a paella, and the rice was a bit undercooked, but it tasted good. They gave me a slice of cheesecake for my birthday which had a really delicious topping on it! Overall, great service, great drinks and appetizers! I will definitely be coming back!

This is a great addition to downtown Oakland but service needs more work. We waiting over 20mins to put in an order and that was for drinks only. When we finally got our drinks we waited another 10mins to order our food. I would've gave this place a 4 star but service was killing me at this point. Overall food was great and drinks were good.

My friends took me here for my birthday and it was a very special dinner. All the food was amazing. I really loved the octopus and the yucca fries. The lamb was also fantastic. Lomo saltado was classic and delicious. Cocktails were great and they had a good wine selection. It was bustling inside on a Tuesday evening. Good vibes and cute decor. Servers were very friendly, prompt, food came out quickly. We stayed for a while and lingered enjoying the atmosphere and drinks. Would definitely return!

Amazing food with a twist, my Nephew made reservations for 5 on a Friday night. We were seated just after 8pm. The place was very crowded every time someone finished their meal and left. Right away a new group of people walked in to take their place. The staff was excellent as was the food. The atmosphere was nice but a little on the tight side due to the crowd. Everyone looked like they were having a great time.

I am so happy that a new restaurant has moved into here. I remember the old deli that was here, so I'm happy to see another business thriving. Interior-wise, the decor is everything you could tell they put great thought into it. The staff was super sweet and attentive and gave great recommendations! The food tasted super fresh and had a great flavor! Their alcoholic beverages seem to be a hit. I noticed a lot of other tables with pitchers, so I will try that next time!

I've been passing this place as it prepared to open. Lucky me, as about a week ago they're open! I stopped in for happy hour and I'm very happy, ha, ha... Wow, it's hard to know where to begin. For a brand new restaurant, they're so seasoned. How do you do that? It feels like it's been here for years. I did (more than one) their Agua Perfecta with St. George Gin and the Ceviche Clasico, which today was rock fish. Cocktail wise, if you really like mint, you'll be in heaven. The ceviche was sublime. Roasted pine nuts were a surprise. I learned that choclo is a Peruvian corn that is a standard in Peruvian ceviche (I thought it was hominy). Still don't like the texture though. Service, amazing. Ambiance, perfect. I'm planning on being a regular ;) Okay, I'm still here, ha, ha... the El Capitan - delicious and the best cocktail cherry I've even had! Not artificial and tangy! Only one minor suggestion; better venting of the kitchen so it doesn't overpower the eating area.

Super cool inside. We loved the atmosphere and service was wonderful. Then there was the food. Yummy! Would absolutely go back there.

Hands down the best meal I have had in 2025! Would give them 6 stars if possible. What was so great? Everything - the service, decor, atmosphere, drinks, and of course the food!! Started with a Pisco Sour followed by ceviche, tequenitos (wontons), and causca criolla. Many of the flavors were new to me, so I can't quite describe them, all I know is that the dishes were equally delicious and beautiful. I finished the night with a traditional plate of Peruvian donuts! Looking for a reason to return to Oakland so I can come back!

We were a group of three friends who decided to try Lucuma Kitchen & Bar after spotting it in the neighborhood. We made an 8:30 PM reservation, and overall, everything was great -- the service was friendly and attentive, and the food came out fresh from the kitchen, served family-style. Being from Miami, I'm used to traditional Peruvian food, and while some dishes stayed true to that, others had a more modern or American twist -- like the mac & cheese. Portions weren't huge but were just right, and everything we tried was delicious. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in the area. The only downside was that about 15 minutes into our dinner, the server started asking if we wanted anything else because the kitchen and bar were closing (around 9 PM, it seemed). I completely understand that staff need to wrap up, but if the kitchen closes that early, the restaurant really shouldn't take 8:30 reservations. It made the meal feel rushed, and we didn't get the chance to enjoy another glass of wine or dessert since the kitchen had already shut down. It's an easy fix -- just adjust the latest reservation time so guests have a full dining experience. Otherwise, it's a great spot with really good food and warm service.

We had a little mishap in making our reservation and ended up not having enough seats for our whole group on a night when the restaurant was PACKED. However, the staff were totally great and allowed us to order food to go while also getting us drinks as we waited for our order. This error was totally our fault so we appreciated how well they accommodated us. And it was worth the wait and walk back to the hotel with all the food because everything was FIRE. No wonder they were fully booked on a Wednesday night! The pina ceviche was so good as was the tuna ceviche we actually had folks go back the next day to bring takeout home with them after our retreat. We tried a little bit of everything and heard rave reviews across the board! I will definitely return next time I'm in Oakland!!

My friend and I came to try this new-ish place and we had a lovely time and yummy food. The bartender and server was attentive. The food came fast, and they removed plates pretty quickly too. The decor was fun and colorful and the overall environment felt festive. The drinks were pretty good - we tried a few - and my fav was the after dinner cocktail Amaro Latte. Food wise, we got one of the ceviches (tropical), two starters (potato and meat ball, dumplings), and the paella main to share. Everything tasted good. The ceviche was the stand out for us - balanced and complex set of flavors and textures while maintaining a freshness. The paella was easy and delicious as well (we got chicken). The dumpling was a newer flavor to us so that's fun.

We got a table on a Wednesday evening and were quite delighted. The waiters speak Spanish, we appreciated this so much. They have authentic Peruvian decor which is very fun to see. Although we were fine with the one hour limit at our table, if anyone were trying to stay any longer than an hour, I could see this being a problem for them. Delicious, fresh ceviche.

You only have 1.5 hours at the table. They literally put the bill in front of you at the 1.5 hour mark. The courses are rushed to the table to get you out. Absolute unpleasantness. Decor is beautiful, food is 6-7/10 at best. Drinks 8/10. We will not go back as going to a restaurant to eat is not just about stuffing yourself and getting out so next patrons can take your seat.

Overall an awesome date spot with really cool ambiance and really good seafood. Quality: 5 Value: 4 Service: 5 Ambiance: 5 We had the shrimp and quinoa, the salmon ceviche, and the seared tuna steak. Everything was great! The salmon ceviche was different and unique. The tuna steak was grilled well and the veg and mash it came with was great. The fried shrimp and the smoky Chile quinoa was really interesting and probably some of the best shrimp I've ever had in a restaurant. Cocktails / drinks / wine selection was also really good!

I would give this a 2.8 stars. Got a reservation on OpenTable for 5 at 8:45. Me and my guest had to wait about 10-15 mins by the bathroom for our table to be open. As we began to order we were told that the kitchen was closing and the bar was doing last call. We ordered 2 entrees 2 small shareable plates and a ceviche. When ordering the ceviche know that the chips are an added charge. Drinks were good and service was good. Decor is beautiful but the venue is so small you have to scoot around. Now for the food! The food is way too expensive for how much it serves. We ordered 5 items and each person of our group had 1 bite. The cost was still 50$ a person. For a restaurant who encourages shareables the portion size does not support that. The meals tasted fresh but lacked authentic flavor.

I can see why this is the new hot spot in downtown Oakland, it's refreshing to see a restaurant be fully booked on a weekday night in this neighborhood! Amazing food and gorgeous interior. Some highlights include their Argentinian steak, salmon ceviche, beef heart, and desserts. Was a little disappointed at how little shrimp was on top of the shrimp crispy rice, and prices are a bit on the higher end as we spent ~$100pp with mocktails, but otherwise, a very solid Peruvian restaurant. Glad to see some life breathed back into downtown Oakland. Recommend making resy as people were waiting and it was a Thursday night.

We went for happy hour which will save you $3 on cocktails. Beautiful ambiance Everything in there looks photographical. My sister lives up the street so it's a nice new neighborhood edition. Cocktails were excellent. Food was well seasoned But everything we got needed a side of lime/ which was easy enough to ask for! Friendly/fast service.

Nice new hip Peruvian spot where the bagel place used to be. Awesome cocktails, ceviche, Peruvian fare, and dessert. The interior is really nice and trendy also. Service was friendly and they offered to switch us to clean plates before the entrees came. Only thing is the portions were pretty small for the price point - ceviche, octopus, and the fish entree. The dessert which was el turrron anise cheesecake was the biggest portion. The flavors of the food are excellent, just wish the portions were a little bigger, especially for the ceviche w chips which was $29 for maybe 4oz of fish ($24 for the ceviche and $5 for the plantain chips). Recommend sitting at the bar near the window for views of cocktail making.

Theater. Perfect location. We ate all of below with 2 cocktails each. We were stuffed! Portions are large. Dinner with drinks added up to a hefty bill. Worth the splurge, just don't underestimate the amount of food you'll get! Ceviche mixto- very fresh, pricy Yucca fries - nice and crisp. Dip a bit bland Causa criolla pollo - excellent! Such a mix of flavors and textures. Definitely do this one Coliflor - delicious Empanada sampler - yum! Every one different and tasty

We walked past Lucuma a month or so ago and we liked the look of the vibe and the decor. We said we would have to try. And we did last night before a concert at The Fox. Wow, wow, wow! It was really amazing. We knew it looked like an amazing start when our cocktail and mocktail arrived. Absolutely stunning. Like a work of art. but the beauty also was also as there in the drinks themselves. Every course (from the Coconut Shrimp, to the empanadas, to the Lomo Saltado as our savory items. Coconut Shrimp conjures up a chain restaurant disaster version. Not here. crispy outside and tender inside. Squid ink for dipping and a bed of quinoa. Empanadas were delicious. Had the beef and also the mushroom. light tasting crust with a dipping sauce that really provided the perfect accompaniment. Lomo Saltado. Looks simple but keeping the flavor balanced and the beef tender can be a challenge. Not here. We wanted more rice or potatoes to finish up the sauce. I don't remember the name of the dessert but it was what seemed like a sponge cake topped with chocolate, then berries and whipped cream. Really tasty. Next time maybe we will bring some friends so we can also try the Banana Flambe. Lastly the service was phenomenal. Things spaced. Our waitress gave great recommendations. Knowledgeable, able to make suggestions based on or questions and also super nice. We will be definitely be back soon. Likely very soon. I'd put this easily as best new restaurant in Oakland or Berkeley. And maybe my new favorite place.

I love this place! It's barely been open and I've been twice, have posted a TikTok about it and have told everyone i can. The vibe and decor inside is amazing, fresh and on point, the staff is both friendly and helpful and most importantly the food was all so good. All of it was great but i will speak specifically to the scallops and the fish of the day.... The flavors on those two dishes alone would make me want to come back again and again!

Yesterday was our first time dining at Lucuma, and the experience blew me and my husband away. Everything - the food, the drinks, the service, the ambiance - were top notch. You can tell that the people behind this restaurant have put a lot of thought, passion and skill into it. We've had many good meals in Oakland and the Bay Area over the years, and this one definitely stands out as one of the most memorable. We really hope Lucuma thrives. We'll be back for sure. For reference, we had the Tikila and the Incan Old Fashioned cocktails, both of which were really delicious and beautiful (with the latter having a dramatic presentation). For food, we had ceviche classico, beef hearts, yucca fries, cauliflower and pescado. It was a bit too much food (which our server was kind to warn us about when we were ordering), but we didn't regret ordering any of the dishes because all were excellent.

Recently opened, they did this place up real nice. Dark wood features, stone counters, and mid-century, modern seats. A friend and I visited for lunch at 11:30. I walked in being the first patron of the day. The staff was very warm and attentive. They gave us a bowl of crushed chips for free. DRINKS I order sparking water for the table and I had a Brisa de Maracuya mocktail based on passion fruit. The latter was (not too) sweet and sour. It was flavorful. My friend had the Chica Morada and said it was tasty. My friend and I decided to share a few small shared plates: ASADO DE MAMITA This plate was my favorite (tight race). The meat was tender and the flavors were off the hook. I loved the fresh cut onions on the side. MAC & CHEESE Big pasta pieces with good sized pieces of bacon. The top was crispy and the sauce was creamy with corn kernels, but not overbearing. EMPANADAS DE LA CASA three empanadas: mushroom, chicken and carne (beef, I believe). I didn't taste the beef, but I thought the others we great, the mushroom was the best I think. All were very well made with flakey crusts and great flavors. Together we spent $99. The portions were bigger than I expected for the "small" plates. We could've probably left off one small plate, but I wanted a good sample of food. There is also a 3% operations fee which I was surprised to see. All in all, I feel the staff, atmosphere, food quality and quantity deserved the price. I can see myself coming here in the evenings for special occasions. I wouldn't come back with more than six people. They take (recommend) reservations.

It's been a while we have not eaten in such a delicious Peruvian restaurant. Pleasantly surprised for the quality of food. Ceviche well balanced on the acidic and spicy side. Anticuchos preparation level is perfect tender. The plates in Lucuma Restaurant achieving attention to details in the food plating, involving sauces as a paint. The staff is friendly and professional . Last but not the least you will be surrounded with a meaningful and cozy modern Peruvian-style decor involves blending contemporary design with the rich, handcrafted textiles and natural materials of Peru.
