Lucy, I'm home!
Lol.
Man, what an incredible place. In advance of our morning wine tasting, my sister entrusted me to find us a suitable breakfast. I am pleased to have chosen Lucy's, the restaurant within the exclusive Bardessono Hotel & Spa. We arrived hungry for our 8:45 A.M. reservation and were ushered to an outdoor table.
I ordered an omelet, of course. The sister got avocado toast, and the brother-in-law got the breakfast hash. In hindsight, I would have really liked the hash (poached eggs, sweet potatoes, kale, sausage, and toast). That will have to be for next time. Today was about the omelet.
For this omelet, I think Applewood smoked bacon would've done better than the ham, but this is a minor complaint. I was impressed by the cheddar cheese; it did not overpower the other flavors, and it wasn't packed on too thickly. You could taste the freshness in each of the ingredients. The marbled potatoes were delicious and aplenty. I ordered wheat toast on the side, and toast it was -- this was cooked well done. Despite being hard to chew, I enjoyed the accompaniments of citrus butter and berry jam.
Of course, coffee was involved. It was poured hot in a charming cup and served on a saucer. Does that make the coffee taste better? Probably.
It was an excellent meal all around, and I know we'll return one day for more breakfast. However, there is an honorable mention that must be recognized. Lucy's bathrooms are incredible. Next to the hostess's table, you will find a circular room composed of individual bathrooms. Pick a door, any door, but tread carefully: not all of the bathrooms are the same. Some are equipped with a standard toilet and sink. Others, however, contain facilities of the future. See for yourself. You'll know what I mean.
Until next time, Lucy. We'll be back.
