Edit: August 2025 -- They went back to the old dough!! And, it's back on top - pizza was crisp, full of flavor, and freshness. Also tried the french fries which were amazing. Only one side note: my friend ordered the fries as a vegan option, so was disappointed to find a few chicken crumbs at the bottom - if a separate oil vat for fries or note can be made on the menu - I think those with dietary restrictions would be grateful. Other than that, will definitely be back - the girl at the register and guy with the curly hair working on 08.03.25 were very accomodating and friendly. 5/5 - thank you Luigi's for making it right!! This place used to be great. Spent over $50 for 2 pizzas. Neither of which were great, but the larger one was nothing more than a frozen bad grocery store pizza. No flavor whatsoever - couldn’t even finish it. Felt like a prime example of wasting money which is a cardinal sin in these days. I remember the pico de gallo topping being amazing and vibrant - this go round it was so skimpy hardly any diced tomatoes or onions and just few super spicy, poorly chopped jalapeños. Dough tasted bland as well. I’m just upset having spent this and barely enjoyed it.

Luigi’s Pizzeria offers a cozy, comforting environment to grab a diverse array of Italian treats. Customer service was good, and staff whipped up our order quite fast. In terms of the actual pizza and salad though, the experience felt a bit lackluster. I tried the Philly Cheesesteak with a Baby Luigi’s salad. They both lacked real flavor until we doused them in red chilly flakes and parmesan cheese and even then, they both seemed like overpriced items for the experience we had. I’m curious to go back and try different toppings to see if that would make a difference, since the sauce and crust were quite good.

When you pull up you are met with a cool mural on the side of the building. One kf the main draws to this pizza spot is that it connects to Axelrad beer garden through a patio door. The interior dining space is limited but a great vibe. The outdoor patio has plenty of seating to accomodate anyone stopping in or passing through after a few drinks. The service was pretty solid, the staff were friendly. I would say that the pizza is overpriced for how it tastes. The pizza came out and looked great but tasted average. For less money for 2 slices, you'd get much better flavor and more interior seating elbow room at Frank's Pizza. The fountain soda taste pretty good. Overall the meal was a B level but the price brought it down slightly to about C+. If you had a few drinks in you, I am certain this pizza would be heavenlyz but completely sober I'd have to say it pleases the eyes more than the mouth.

I came here for the first time on a Friday night. I tried 3 of their specialty slices. My total was around 24 bucks or so. My favorite slice was the buffalo chicken. I’d get a whole pie of that. The bbq brisket to me was just ok. The Philly was good but could’ve used more meat. Next time I want to try the fajita slice with steak and chicken. I typically am a cheese slice kind of guy, but I wanted to see what they had to offer. It is a small place if you plan to dine in. I’m not pressed to go back, but I’m sure I will try again at some point. I’d encourage everyone to give it a try if you haven’t!

Stopped by Luigi’s Pizzeria in Midtown for lunch and grabbed their supreme calzone—only $10, what a steal! It was super fresh, stuffed to the brim with all the supreme fixings (pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese). The crust was perfectly crispy, and the flavors were on point. Great value and a lively atmosphere. Definitely coming back for more!

Plenty of different types of pizza to choose from. The brisket pizza was surprisingly good. Hawaiian pizza is my favorite.

Recently ordered some pizzas for a birthday party. Pizza slicing was done without care. Guests also thought pizza was stale even though we picked it up right on time. Special instructions completely ignored. Very disappointed, they normally are great but guests were not impressed.

Google
I stopped in for their Meatball Mondays. I ordered a meatball sub. It took 4min and 37 secs to receive my order, which h is great. The sub tasted great, however, it was a bit cold and the cheese did not melt. Otherwise service and atmosphere were really cool.

Yelp
Okay let's talk about why I'm now unofficially referring to this place as Luigi Calzone. The cheese-to-sauce ratio is a masterpiece, and every bite is a reminder that life's too short for bad pizza pocket. Thin sliced Ny pizza slices you easily could fold like a true New Yorker or go full savage and eat it flat--either way, you win. Grab their meat calzone. This thing isn't just food--it's an experience. A golden, crispy, cheese-stuffed pocket of joy, packed with layers of savory meats and melty mozzarella, served with fresh in house marinara (which, yes, still pairs beautifully with ranch--don't fight it). It's the kind of meal that makes you rethink all past calzone decisions. All of this in a classic pizza joint setting--indoor, outdoor, that perfect casual vibe. Maybe you're posted up inside or maybe you're soaking in the fresh air outside, but one thing's for sure: there's a mini arcade game nearby, just begging for some nostalgic button-mashing between bites. A slice in one hand, victory in the other--welcome to peak pizza night.

Yelp
Had this highly recommended pizza delivered to my hotel. Crust flavor/texture is good. It's crispy and light. Sauce is on the "sweet" side and doesn't really do much for me. Italian sausage looks like it came out of a bag and doesn't have much flavor. Maybe that's just me, but I expect more than this. Overall, it's a 7.0 pie.

Yelp
This is the pizzeria right by axelrad. It's definitely the move after a fun night out, good pizza to follow up on the potential drinking you've done throughout the night! Only thing to watch out for is wait times, since pretty much everyone is looking for a bite at some point throughout the night. The setting is always fun, good music playing and generally good vibes around this area.

Yelp
A friend of mine told me that Luigi's quality has been going downhill. I did't believe him. I took my family to Luigi's last night and sadly confirmed what I was told. The dough was not the same it used to be. It was chewy and lack the flavor of a well matured dough. It felt bland/industrial. Luigi's used to show on my top pizza places in Houston...not anymore :(

Yelp
Even after 12 years the food consistency is still there. Pizza has a thinner crust, so if you like it thick & packing this might be a turn off. They don't charge more for doing a half and half. We popped in before zoo lights. Enjoyed the now closed patio area and free play pac man table. My kids tested the cheese pull on the mozzarella sticks and it exceeded their expectations.

Yelp
I think I've unintentionally become a bit of a pizza snob -- noticing cheese-to-sauce ratios, crisp crusts, and perfect little pepperoni cups. Unfortunately, this pizza fell a bit short for me. The sauce lacked flavor, the crust was just okay (not buttery or flaky), and the pepperonis were barely cooked, even though I requested it well done. On the plus side, I ordered online and my pizza was ready when I arrived. Pickup was smooth, the restaurant looked clean, and you can see directly into the kitchen, which I appreciate. There's also plenty of parking. Overall, it wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me either.

Yelp
Small place. Big yum. I was very hungry when I stopped by Luigi's. The restaurant is small, but neat with friendly staff. I was impressed by her willingness honor our requests of half toppings on our pizzas. The supreme pizza and the eggplant one were extremely tasty and warming, especially in the cold. The sauce was perfectly balanced and the toppings were well made, all coming together on an excellent made dough base. The max and cheese bites were also an unexpected pleasant surprise, with there being enough to share.

Yelp
Got takeout from here, wasn't too impressed with the pizza given the price. Tried Mexicana & Supreme, I thought the Mexicana had pretty unique flavors. Just average pizza.

Yelp
This is my favorite pizza in the Houston area. I always order the 16 inch supreme pizza to go which includes pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, black and green olives, red and green peppers, mushrooms and onions (pic attached). Really good pizza and I'm originally from Chicago . You order at the counter and if dining there, they'll bring out your pizza, else you pick up your to-go order at the counter. They have very limited seating inside and some covered outdoor seating at the restaurant itself. Right next door is an open space where people hang out. There are chairs and hammocks. Next door there is a full service bar. Luigi's does not serve alcohol, but you can walk over and grab a cocktail to go with your meal. I rarely eat there, but will have a glass of wine while waiting for my take out order.

Yelp
Man I just got violated. It was $9 for a slice of pizza and I left hungry. Pizza was dry and my crust was burnt. I couldn't even eat the crust. I was starving so I just ate what I could. Pretty disappointed. I wanted to ask for a refund but too hungry to do that. Haven't been there in about 2 years. Don't know if I will go back.

Yelp
This was our second choice because our first choice apparently had their employee holiday party and were closed and I was dreading it because I'm trying to not eat pizza if I don't have to on the account of the carbs and the fats and whatnot. To my surprise, the Luigi's salad was actually damn good. Maybe not the healthiest salad on the planet with the delicious bread stick they give you but still really good and not the typical pizza place salad. I did try a little pizza too. It was decent too.

Yelp
There may be fancier options downtown, but Luigi's has been consistently good for a long time. The fact that it's situated next to Axelrad is awesome too! From the pizzas, to sandwich's and apps, never had anything I didn't like or had to send back, and the gelato keeps my little ones happy! Prices haven't really changed much over the years either which is nice! Finally, the staff have always been kind and extremely accommodating.

Yelp
My fiancée and I dined in the beer garden on a busy Friday night. Parking was crazy, customer service was great, and the vibe was on point. With that being said, the pizza was super underwhelming. It had so many bubbles, it's was dry and lacked sauce and cheese. We ordered buffalo wings and they were huge and breaded with a not so great flavor. Not a fan! I also ordered a side salad and I'd definitely skip this as it's super processed. All in all is a cool place to catch up with friends but the food was unimpressive.
google avatar

Brandi B.

Yelp
I've been to Luigi's a couple of times and it's always good! Being attached to Axelrad means they're always busy, which can make the ordering area a little tight, but the line moves quickly. Staff is friendly and slices are huge - two signs of a great pizza spot! Their buzzer system works well, so you can crab a seat on their patio or head next door to grab a drink while you wait. This last visit I feel like I wanted my slice a little cheesier? Something about it felt drier than usual if that makes sense. But I still very much enjoyed the flavor and my mom loved her supreme slice! Will be back for the good food and great atmosphere.

Erica B.

Yelp
Ordered the brisket pizza today. Couldn't find much brisket. It was more like a cheese pizza with a few pieces of brisket on it. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Keisha R.

Yelp
Mostly good. I like that they sell single slices. The pizza is good. Can be a bit sloppy at times. The fries are really good. The spaghetti is just ok. Not super flavorful. The sauce is just tomato sauce, it seems. The staff is always friendly.

Yelp
I ordered an online pick-up order. I received a text and email stating my order is ready for pick up at 8:58 pm (image attached). I arrived at 9:22 pm and was told my order was still in progress and then was questioned if I placed the order for the right location ( I did.). This is frustrating because I allowed a grace period because I felt the first time was too early. Waited an additional 15 minutes and went back in to check. A text or email wouldve been nice to know my order was done. My order was 2 side salads and 16" cheese pizza, not too complicated in my opinion. The salad had fresh veggies and was crunchy. The pizza was okay, maybe because I only got cheese but wasnt that great to me. It is NY style so def thin style pizza (I'm a chicago transplant so my opinion is different for east coast style Za). . The crust could've had a garlic butter on the crust or something.

Yelp
Hi! I give it great stars for the greeting. There weren't any customers or any orders the kitchen was working on, which was odd. The place was very clean & well lit. I liked their tables & chairs. Great for teenagers & college kids who want to go on a simple date or get a quick slice of pizza. I did love the crust. Fluffy and crunchy. I saved the rest of the pizza for late night snack. For some strange reason the crust was no longer fluffy & crunchy. I love all their toppings but the pepperoni and Italian sausage I'd skip. It was kinda blah. The wonderful part of this pizza is that it's very low calorie & light. If that is what you are wanting.
google avatar

Yelp
The pizza was terrible. The dough was weird- tasted more like bread. Never going back.
google avatar

Yelp
TODAY, I picked up the voodoo Bbq pizza and was highly disappointed. This was NOT worth $25. We basically had a cheese pizza with bbq sauce on it. Please make it worth the price. I can say the amount of brisket on this pizza has slowly declined. This was the last time I will be purchasing this. I've purchased it before in hopes that the amount would be comparable to what I am paying. Seriously, worth a refund

Yelp
My wife just added Luigi's to our list of favorite local pizza restaurants. She likes thin crust on her pizza. I don't care about the thickness of the crust... I like FLAVOR and TEXTURE. The medium The Meats pizza that we ordered made us both happy. The crust was thin with the right amount of crunch in all the right places. The meats were plentiful enough that I did not have to measure my bites and the sauce was seasoned well enough that all I cared to add was a sprinkling of crushed red pepper. ...speaking of crushed red pepper, do you remember when all the pizza restaurants offered crushed red pepper and grated parmesan cheese with their entrees? (But I regress) Luigi's dining area is a covered patio enclosed on three sides with plexiglass siding. The third side opens into a courtyard that is shared with Axelrad Beer Garden. The patio area is cooled by a mini split A/C unit and ceiling fans. It was comfortable on the day of our visit. There are a few tables and chairs opposite the ordering and pick-up counters, but they are too crowded to sit comfortably.

Yelp
Review is for Pizza delivery - that is pizza delivered by my coworker since the weather was cold and drizzly and about a dozen of us were meeting in a building across the street. I have no idea what the restaurant looks like but their pizzas were things of beauty. Thin-crust that was soft and chewy, no dry and crispy. Strong enough to hold all the toppings, sauce, and cheese without making a mess. Large, triangular pre-cut slices. Very similar to New York style pizza but maybe less messy. The toppings have a Texas twist of course. Smoked Brisket is not a common California pizza topping, and it was awesome. Like BBQ on a slice! The Supreme was also good but I'd rather have brisket! Cheese pizza, though it seems plain was a good third slice since it won't fill you up too much.

Yelp
I'm a pizza lover and I'm very picky with pizza. This place is excellent for "To Go" orders. The pizza is huge and very thin and crispy. Loaded with all of your favorite fresh toppings. I ordered two large pizzas for two grown men. I could have fed 4 grown men a skinny woman and a set of twins with the amount of pizza they gave me. There isn't much seating but I do believe they have an outdoor section in the back of the restaurant. This is a great spot for pizza if you just want good pizza. They have gelato and other items. But, it's a pizza place, so get pizza.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the meal my family and I ordered. The pizza was very close to ny and you could get from what I had so far. The spot is cute and good amount of air blowing on the patio potion! The service was really nice

Yelp
My favorite pizza in the whole wide world! Great quality ingredients that are worth the wait. The pizza slices are pretty big too! I also love the Mac and cheese bites and mozzarella sticks. The ambience is amazing because it's next to Axelrad so you get live music, hammocks, and a great selection of beers. The actual seating at this spot is good too because it's covered with fans. The service is good! A plus? I can bring my pups

Danielle R.

Yelp
I LOVE LUIGIS pizza and I usually have a great experience when I come in here but today the vibes were off. when I walked in several staff members saw me and no one said a thing. there was no one at the counter but several people behind it and they all just looked up at me and didn't say did not say a word. after about 2 to 3 minutes of awkward standing and looking at them not offer service. I asked if someone was going to help me politel. a lady who took my order was kinda rude and had a bit of a tude. The experience was not great and I don't think I did anything wrong to receive such service.
google avatar

Rick Y.

Yelp
Ate a quick pizza slice while I was hanging four in the are. Not the greatest slice of pizza I had but it was not bad. I got the pepperoni slice, added some Parmesan and red chili on it. Each slice was about $4.50 a slice. It is Ny style so it was thin crust and had plenty of pepperoni on it. At 2 am I am sure this pizza is the $hit.
google avatar

Mahwish S.

Yelp
Ordered to enjoy on the patio they share with Axelrad and enjoy the live band. I do like how they use the beeper to notify you the food is ready so you can enjoy the music while waiting. I ordered garlic bread and the Italian Calzone. Everything came out steamy hot out the oven! The calzone was delicious and had the right amount of stuffing. I love their fresh made marinara sauce with the chunks of tomato. I should have asked for extra cheese. Their garlic bread however lacked garlic flavor.

David S.

Yelp
Excellent Cauliflower crust good for keto diets! Good selection of toppings and other menu items that help out peeps going carb free or low carb.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
I rarely eat pizza (since it usually disappoints this East Coast transplant). That being said, Luigi's served up a solid pie. Not the thinnest crust -- but thin enough to satisfy. We tried the pepperoni and it hit the spot. To be honest, their mac and cheese balls stole the show. DELICIOUS. Order early if you want arancini -- they sold out of both types in the late afternoon (on a Saturday).
google avatar

Yelp
Great local pizza place. Most of the time on point. But my caprese slice didn't look like the reviews? Wheres the Buffalo mozzarella cheese and basil?? I don't think my order was correct, $5.99 is alot for this slice. I had seen the recent reviews that the place had been changing: prices going up, sizes getting smaller, taste not the same, cheese different etc. It's too bad, hoping it gets better. Use to be my fav place.
google avatar

Zuriel L.

Yelp
Went to get a drink at Axelrad and was also starving so got a slice of pizza over at Luigi's and it was the best decision. Soooooo good. Didn't have to wait too long either!

Yelp
As long as I've lived in Houston, I'd never been to this pizza place. I was totally surprised when my husband drove up to this spot for a simple date night. It was the perfect spot for a casual dinner date. There is a club attached to the pizza spot which looked casual as well. We didn't go in, because we only went to eat dinner. My husband had originally asked for 2 slices of the Meat Lovers pizza and the cashier suggested we get the medium size since it would save us $2 and give us more pizza. I thought this was nice and good customer service. So he had the medium size meat lovers pizza and I had the lasagna with a side salad. It wasn't the best, but it was certainly tasty for our hungry appetites. I was quite pleased and will probably visit this spot again soon. I didn't give the full 5 starts, because the patio area tables were not clean. They felt sticky as if they hadn't been wiped down since COVID.
google avatar

Rohit G.

Yelp
Genius to have this place directly connected to Axelrad; parking is very tight because of this, though. Friends and I walked over from Axelrad since we got hungry. There was a short line to order at the front but our order was taken pretty quickly. You can take the plates of pizza into Axelrad and sit there and enjoy their live music/vibes (but keep in mind you cannot do this if you get a box to-go). I enjoyed the pizza, but it wasn't as flavorful as I expected. The crust was nice and thin, but the cheese and toppings just didn't wow me. Nonetheless, a good option for pizza, especially if you are already at Axelrad.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing pizza and friendly staff You can't eat there but they are fast to pick up and quality ingredients
google avatar

Txx U.

Yelp
Idk how this place has good reviews. This stale, dry, cold, cardboard equivalent they're trying to pass off as pizza is an ACTUAL disgrace. We ordered a slice of cheese, the Mac and cheese balls (salty and gritty from the choice of cheese), onion rings (definitely had to be fried yesteryear), and another slice that was so unreasonably unremarkable it didn't even matter. I'm from Houston originally and for a late night slice, I should've gone with pinks or franks. I knew better and wanted to be different so this is actually my fault. It's a no for me dawg.
google avatar

Alan T.

Yelp
Good pizza if you're ever at Axelrad definitely give them a try. You can talk over place the order and they will buzz you when its ready for pickup
google avatar

Heather P.

Yelp
Luigi's Pizzeria is known as the long-standing pizza joint connected to Axelrad. I love that they sell their pizzas by the slice (New York style). The White (Alfredo) Pizza with Mushrooms is the best, but unfortunately that is the only one they don't sell by the slice. The boneless wings and the onion rings were ok, nothing too significant. I asked about Mike's Hot Honey on the side since there was a sign close to the register, and the cashier looked confused and had to ask a coworker about it. The coworker didn't sound too thrilled about me ordering the hot honey for some odd reason and said people can't get it on the side and not sure who started all that. (Maybe don't advertise it on a sign by the register then or be more specific on the menu?) The cashier was still nice about it and said he thinks that maybe they can just drizzle the honey on the wings, so I ordered it drizzled on top which was just fine. Supreme Pizza- 4/5 White Pizza-5/5 Wings-3.5/5 Onion Rings- 3/5 Customer Service- 3/5 The wait can be pretty long, so order early if you do plan on eating or just arrived at Axelrad. Parking is also a hassle here. I would suggest to order just the White Alfredo Pizza if you plan on trying out Luigi's!

Yelp
Once 1 of my favorite pizza spots in Houston I came often when they first opened. Haven't been in 2 years very disappointing the quality and flair of the pizza has changed drastically. I asked if there were new owners, I was told it is still in the family. It was handed down to the daughter. The Alice's are still large but what good is that if the quality is no good. The gelato also is not good as it once was as well. Not a fan of the paper thin crust. My 12 year old didn't even like it , we've been going there since he was a baby.
google avatar

Amira J.

Yelp
Luigi's slices are synonymous w bang 4 your buck. $4.50 for a huge slice. Sold, definitely would say if you want large slices for a good price, come here. Loved how thin the crust was too. I will be back :) I placed a order for pick up so I can't speak on the service much, but the cashier was friendly. Ambiance was typical pizzeria vibes with a small parking lot.

Allison W.

Yelp
the best gluten-free pizza I've ever had. I don't even write reviews but had to take a sec to say this for this company. only ever ordered take out from here, but the pizza is complex in flavor, comforting, delicious. it honestly feels like a warm hug. the crust is both chewy and crunchy and the must drizzle butter over the top of the pizza cause it just melts in the mouth. had the Sweet Jamie Kay and the Nevaeh. bravo No photos of the pizza because I ate it all (drool)
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
The pizza had too much cheese and was a bit gooey. Folded the slice up to took some bites and had a major gag reflex. Local tea is good, the outdoor seating patio area is spacious and they have an old school arcade game. Will give Luigi's Pizzeria another chance soon. On a more positive note, it is close to Houston Community College so students do not have far to walk from the campus.

Yelp
Pizza was ok, on the pricier side and nothing special. Having lived in NYC for several years I was craving NY style pizza. We got a large NY style pie with half pepperoni and half sausage/mushroom. The pizza was mediocre and seemed overpriced. Crust wasn't particularly crispy, slightly soggy on the bottom, and not much flavor. I didn't like the type of sausage which was very thinly sliced like pepperoni- I prefer larger pieces of sausage. Service was fine. It is casual sit down place with chill ambiance, which I like. Would not return because quite expensive for mediocre food.

Belinda T.

Yelp
It's all about the crust. Absolutely the BEST!! The atmosphere is great, laid back and able to sit outside if preferred. The Gelato is an amazing way to cap off the awesome pizza.
google avatar

Brandon F.

Yelp
What happened to Luigi's? Havent been in a while, but their food used to be so good. I got the Philly cheesesteak, which I've gotten before, and this one was so bad. Flavorless and super watery. Had to have been freezer burned meat. Hopefully their pizza is still good because that was their draw.
google avatar

Cindy N.

Yelp
Amazing pepperoni pizza. The crust was crispy and the pizza was overall delicious. I'm going to dream about this pizza flying back to California.
google avatar

Thesmond J.

Yelp
I went while there was a large event happening, the kitchen was pretty backed up and our food still came out relatively fast, they said it would take an hour and we agreed to wait, but it only took 30 min! on top of that the food was absolutely delicious the anicinis or however you spell those were a please t surprise definitely recommend, and the pizza was the perfect balance of crunchy and chewy !

Yelp
Pizza seems to be an odd choice on a "95 degree and it feels like 102 "day in H-Town. That said, when you think about the frigid indoors from AC-makes sense! A small place with mostly outdoor seating (for sure, the cut it with a knife humidity was too thick for that!) Not your usual pizza spot given the wall art-from Marley to superheroes and Star Wars. They also offer Hot/cold Sandwiches, some pasta dishes and Calzones. Bonus/unexpected-Italian Gelato which is perfect on this hot day! & Cauliflower crust is an option which you don't see often. We ordered a medium Pepperoni/Italian Sausage and a couple of slices-Mexicana & Caprese (both Fan favorites). New York style in Houston? Double take! But the crust is very similar to the pizza I've had in NY. Pepp/Sausage was excellent with the right balance of cheese to toppings and tasty sauce. The Mexicana was a standout because they actually use fajita beef (my other experiences have been seasoned ground beef). Loved the seasoned beef combo with pico! Caprese was also excellent with the simple Buffalo Mozz and Basil. Starting to pick up around 6:30 on a Monday with a few waiting inside. Our pizza was ready in about 20 minutes. Friendly people at the counter and they have a 2nd location in Midtown. NY style in H-town-this is the spot!
