"Lobster’s in the name, so you can bet the seasonal grilled cheese at Luke’s embraces the namesake, pairing lobster with melty cheddar. In addition to the this downtown location, Luke’s is also in the Seaport District (53 Northern Ave.) and Back Bay (75 Exeter St.)." - Dana Hatic

First time in Boston and I had to get a Lobsta roll! Got a flight and the OG one so I could try them all. 1 was warm and all were delicious! Service was fast and friendly although cashier was a little too laid back. Food was like 4.5 stars, I bit a shell in the big OG 36$ roll which kinda sucked and it's a little pricy. Overall a great experience!

The Luke's Trio offers a tantalizing trio of lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls, each bursting with fresh, succulent seafood flavors. The simplicity of their approach lets the quality of the ingredients shine through, making every bite a delightful experience. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, perfect for a quick lunch or a leisurely seafood feast. Overall, Luke's Lobster Downtown Crossing is a must-visit for seafood enthusiasts looking for a taste of Maine in the heart of the city.

Google
Delicious lobster roll at a good price. The bread and lobster are simply seasoned and prepared, yet it's so good.

Very cozy lobster place, perfect for lunch. Personally I find it much better cold (ie not warmed up). The lobster flight is a great option for first timers!

Let me be completely transparent. I was born and raised on the coast of Florida. I grew up eating all kinds of seafood, but lobster has never been one of my favorites. Over the years, I've always heard people say that you have to visit the New England area to get quality lobster so once I had my vacation details pinned down I knew I would be on the hunt to finally find good lobster. I did lots of research leading up to this trip. The very first place that my daughter and I visited after leaving the airport was Luke's. I was excited that they offered a trio where I could get a variety of different things at a reasonable price. Please note that this was my very first time in Boston. That parking situation is atrocious! I drove around and around and around, desperately searching for an open space on the street. I almost gave up, but I finally managed to snag something about 10 - 12 blocks away. Please be mindful of this when you visit. Parking is literally the luck of the draw. Be prepared to walk a lot. Anyway, so finally we arrive. The establishment seemed nice. We were greeted as we walked in. I already knew I wanted to try Luke's Trio. Again, this is my first time, and I didn't know which I would prefer (Maine roll vs. Connecticut roll). Luke's serves Maine rolls, which are served cold. The trio comes 2 oz. of lobster, 2 oz. of crab, and 2 oz. of shrimp. My daughter only wanted to try the crab roll, and she said it was a 6/ 10. Let's just say Luke's did not win me over. The shrimp roll was the best out of the trio. The lobster was my least favorite. They all lacked flavor. Maybe that's the way it's intended to be, but as a person from the South, I need flavor and seasoning. At least a little. The menu also stated that the rolls would be buttered. They were not. None of them were impressive at all. We left still on the hunt for good lobster. I believe I paid around $60, including tip for our rolls and drinks. I now realize that I do not prefer Maine rolls. At least not based on this particular experience. It's not horrible. It's just not my cup of tea.

Google
This is my favorite place to get a warm lobster roll. I stop here for lunch every time I'm in Boston. This isn't the best photo of the food (lobster Mac n cheese also shown and was delicious!)

First time trying a lobster roll 🦞 and it was down right delicious! I recommend trying the truffle butter roll. The clam chowder was pretty good as well. The service was great!

Google
Luke’s continues to deliver on excellence. As someone gluten free I’m so appreciative of the options offered here. The GF roll is outstanding. I love to get the Trio sampler with mini individual Lobster, Crab, and Shrimp rolls. And they offer GF Lobster bisque! Hot! And delicious! Best lobster rolls I’ve found outside Maine.

Yelp
Boston is known for its fresh and delicious seafood. Luke's Lobster did not disappoint! Their famous claim chowder was also excellent. #good #pricey #worthit

Yelp
4 Stars honestly it's that good! Lobster Rolls is ultimately perfect when visiting Massachusetts to satisfy my cravings. Got the Warm Butter Roll and a bag of chips. They got this packed with meat, and everything tastes exactly as you would expect. The Lobster Roll was fresh and full of chunks of meat, and the bun was so buttery, such a nice treat. There were six in the group, all six of us wanted a NE Clam Chowder, unfortunately none of us got one as they were already sold out during the lunch hour. There were no leftovers, and this was a perfect size lunch before going ice skating and not having food coma. Everyone's food looked really good. We were all in the mood for Lobster Rolls, and for next time if I'm in town, will try to come in earlier for the clam chowder. They also have a restroom which was super clean and available for customers. Service is quick and it's a very low key casual restaurant so you'll most likely eat messy while enjoying good comfort food!

Yelp
Delicious. I used to think the lobster roll back home in Milwaukee at the Milwaukee Public Market was good but not any more. If the lobster roll here is a standard, then any lobster roll I've had anywhere outside of Boston is just not at all right. Their crab roll was even better, but the name of the place is Luke's Lobster. The clam chowder is excellent, service is friendly and prompt. Prices are a tad high so be mentally prepared for it, and the only diet drink they have besides water is Diet Coke. The lobster bisque looked and smelled so good I was tempted to steal it from the woman near me but I thought that might start an incident. Still, I thought about it more than a little. An easy walk from the Omni, it's as much a MUST VISIT as any of the nearby historic sites.

Yelp
Best lobster roll! Amazing service as they accommodated my friend who is Gluten Free, and she enjoyed her lobster roll as well. Light butter and lemon, overall amazing roll. Quaint little place, and quiet. Definitely a casual place.

Danan R.

Yelp
Very solid lobster rolls with fresh, sweet, and large pieces of meat. They offer a trio sampling if you can't decide which to go for! The menu is limited and simple - seafood rolls and chips with chowder. They specialize in the rolls and the execution is excellent. Despite the fact that it is a chain, the lobster rolls here easily stand up to any of the other spots in the area.

Andrea B.

Yelp
I loved this place!!! The service was 100 stars, of the charts excellent!!! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. When you purchase a drink, they tell you to grab one out of the fridge, if you don't like it bring it back and switch it out. These aren't fountain drinks either, these are bottled drinks! What an amazing concept!!! I ordered the trio on GLUTEN-FREE bread. I was amazed how such a small place with limited menu catered to gluten-free customers! Again, I was impressed! The overall quality of the seafood wasn't spectacular, but it was good for the price. A bit overseasoned for me. I'm not sure about parking since we stopped here after a walking tour. Price are to be expected for the cruisine and the touristy area. I would still eat here because overall I had a fabulous experience!

Yelp
We were traveling from Southern California and as our first time in Boston we wanted to try the NE clam chowder. We found this place on yelp and settled on it based on the reviews. This place did not disappoint! We had the clam chowder and lobster roll. The clam chowder was creamy with plenty of clam meat inside. The lobster roll came on a toasted bun with plenty of lobster meat on it; they do not skimp on the lobster meat. We may come back to this place for another meal if time permits before we fly back home.

Bill S.

Yelp
Really good lobster roll in a fantastic location in the heart of Boston. I had the jumbo lobster roll and a bag of chips and the presentation, taste, and texture was about as close to perfect as a lobster roll gets. There are lots of other options but I stuck with the classic lobster roll and was very happy.

Marc P.

Yelp
DAMN GOOD! We heard about Luke's and ran across it on our tour through Boston. Nice personality and vibe at the counter, the lobster roll was excellent! Chilled, simple, plump and flavorful lobster with simple aïoli on a warm grilled roll. We had the 6 ounce serving which ran about $40 but they were nice enough to split it into two sandwiches which fed us both. Left us craving another one, highly recommend you checking them out!

Samantha C.

Yelp
ORDERED - luke's truffle lobster roll Staff here were so wonderful. They gave great recommendations and were really kind as we had 5 separate orders. There was a menu above the counter, physical menus on the counter and QR codes to the menu all around the place so they make it quite accessible for you to know what's available. I got the TRUFFLE LOBSTER ROLL and it was SO GOOD. Upon first look, I thought to myself "yikes, this roll is kinda small" however, after eating and leaving super full, my mind changed and it was in fact not that small of a roll! If you're a truffle person, I highly recommended getting the truffle roll. If you're undecided, get the TRIO!

Doreen T.

Yelp
This was our last hurrah before our flight home and it did not disappoint! Glad they have smaller portions so we can sample every flavored! We had a game plan. The 4 of us, each couple, would get the Luke's Trio and the Lobster Roll Flight. Just looking at the picture of all our rolls makes me smile. Luke's Trio: Lobster rolls, Crab roll, and shrimp roll at 2 oz each Lobster Roll Flight: lemon butter, spicy honey, truffle at 2 oz each. The combos comes with a bag of Cape cod chips and each couple also shared a clam chowder. It was a delicious and wonderful way to end our trip ! Til next time Luke's !

Dennis S.

Yelp
Well this is the 3rd lobster jiint and maybe just maybe I'm all lobster'd out .... NAH not while I'm in Boston! Pretty self explanatory... LOBSTAH!!! They have other stuff but at this point just eat the lobstah... check this place out... u might like it!!!! Ps :BUTTER WAY BETTER THAN MAYO!!

Pete C.

Yelp
Also had Luke's at Fenway Park. So 3 visits in 2 days. We had a fourth lobster roll festival outside of TD Garden in the food court area, but it was nowhere near as good as Luke's.

Joey W.

Yelp
I've tried their lobster rolls but decided to give their crab roll a try. Crab roll (4oz) - a good amount of crab even for 4 oz. The butter came on the side which I really appreciated. The roll was toasted but wasn't warm. If it was warm, it would be even better. It's a small roll so I'd recommend getting a side. The crab roll was $17 and comes with salt & vinegar chips.

Jose Frank A.

Yelp
We were in Boston for the weekend and were looking for seafood and lobster rolls. The experience at Luke's was very good. Service is fast and easy to order. The ambiance is ok for a small restaurant in downtown. There were a lot of locals in and out. Which tells you that it is not a touristic place to go. I would come back. The clam chowder was exquisite, the lobster bisque was very buttery and the lobster roll was great. Enough lobster in the bread and flavorful. 4 stars because of the local. It is very small and not too comfortable. It is ok for pickup or eat quickly and continue walking.

Julia M.

Yelp
I was in the area viewing nearby historical sights and needed a quick lunch - Luke's was an obvious choice for a short lunch that could also bring some New England staple foods! I ordered a classic lobster roll, and munched on the chowder my friend traveling with me ordered. Both were good! The lobster roll obviously wasn't cheap with current seafood prices, but I felt it was good value for what I paid. I really enjoyed the sauce and toasted roll. Service was very quick as it was after 1pm, and friendly. The only downside is there was very limited seating indoors, so I had to take my food outside to find somewhere to sit and eat.

Sarah R.

Yelp
Stopped in while on a short trip, loved it so much that I came back the next day. Amazing food, and heavenly gluten free bread for the sandwiches.

Janelle L.

Yelp
Friendly service. Cute little area to eat but very small as most of these places are. The lobster roll was INCREDIBLE!!!

Charlene P.

Yelp
My favorite lobster roll of the three I had on this trip. I splurged on the larger roll (fantastic decision). Loved the butter flavor, and that is was not smothered with Mayo. Nor did it have too much bread. The lobster flavor shown through. Service was incredibly quick and our server was sweet and helpful. The inside is small but we were able to get a table.

Aaron M.

Yelp
I had the crab roll and it was delicious. Staff was wonderful and helpful. It's a cozy little spot and I'll definitely be coming back.

Eugenia Y.

Yelp
I thought Luke's Lobster was really good! The lobster rolls were really good, and I thought the mac 'n' cheese was good too. Our order also came out fairly quickly, and staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place! If you're looking for some good lobster rolls in Boston!

Donald R.

Yelp
My wife and I discovered this tiny place while walking the Freedom Trail. We were greeted by a friendly and patient employee who helped us through the menu. We settled on the Lobster Roll with Lobster Bisque and two bottles of lemonade. After all, what's more 'Boston' than lobster? We waited only minutes before it arrived at our table. The roll was overflowing with fresh lobster. It had very little seasoning or additional ingredients, just mostly...lobster! Exactly the way you would want it. The lobster bisque was very tasty and had a lot of...lobster! What more could you want? It was delicious and the perfect place to stop for lunch if you want...lobster!

Jennifer Z.

Yelp
Hands down the best lobster rolls I've ever had in my life. The rolls were perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. I will be back again.

Anna L.

Yelp
Outstanding! Menu was straight to the point and easy to navigate. Rolls were stacked to the brim with lobster meat. Staff was friendly and location was super clean. Price reflects quality and downtown (rent prices) location. Glad to see they were very transparent, hate places with MP which this one didn't. Ohhhhh they even serve a truffle lobster roll (heaven on a bun)!

Albert M.

Yelp
If you go to the Freedom Road Tour, this is near the beginning of the road near the Boston Common. What a location! We just ate breakfast but how can we pass up the first lobster roll in Boston? The place is busy, with a 14 minute line. A few seats. Clean, bright. We went for the 6oz roll, $35 each. I guess it's the tourist tax. It is unbelievably good. It is piled so high with lobster you don't know where to bite. Unlike the California variety with a lot of cream, it is minimally seasoned so the lobster flavor shines. You will not be dissatisfied here.

Gabriel D.

Yelp
Great food and quick service. Lobster tasted very fresh. Definitely will be coming back

Jean H.

Yelp
I had Luke's Lobster once before in NYC and decided to give this location a try. Delicious lobster rolls! The size of the roll looked small, but packed with large chunks of fresh lobster. Consistency of lobster is perfect, very light sauce, and I love that the chunks of lobster and kept as large as possible. The price is high for what you get, but still average for lobster rolls in the area ($24 as of 8/2022 for a regular 4oz size roll). Comes with chips or $1 extra for poppyseed slaw. Good portion of crispy slaw paired nicely with the lobster. This is a good choice if you happen to be near Downtown Crossing and craving lobster rolls. I got it for takeout, and was happy to see that the packaging is secure for transport plus a cute presentation. The space is modern, cute, and has seating that can fit a few small parties or solo diners. It's the type of place to quickly sit down and eat, not to have long meet-ups.

Nina C.

Yelp
From start to finish everything about my experience here was 5 stars. I wanted a lobster roll for lunch, but also was taking a flight back to Miami that day and wanted to bring home lobster for my boyfriend and I to make lobster rolls that evening. I called in advance and the person on the phone was so sweet, she told me they have a DIY lobster roll kit for two people that they sell, which was perfect for me. We got there and the menu looked exactly as it should the Staples with a few twists as options. Served your choice of hot or cold. I'm a sucker for truffle so I chose the truffle lobster roll, large of course, to eat there, warmed up. It was honest to God incredible. They made it perfectly. The bun was toasted to perfection, the seasonings, and the way the butter was applied was just perfect. As for the DIY kit, they don't offer anyway to cold pack it and they only guarantee it will last for up to two hours, but I prepared for this as she told me on the phone, and brought some Ziploc bags with me into which I packaged the lobster and ran across the street to chipotle, and filled with ice using their soda machine for free. The entire thing worked great and I was able to put it right in my bag and it lasted the entire flight easily. We also tried the lobster bisque, which I loved personally but my friends boyfriend wasn't a super fan, and he often catches his own lobster and makes his own bisque so he's very picky. But it was delicious. The lobster rolls I made it home that night tasted just as fresh as that morning and everything about this experience was great, it's just that lobster is getting a little pricey these days I paid $95 for three lobster rolls. As a Florida girl, this is a nice treat when I come to New England.

Stacy T.

Yelp
Unbelievably fresh lobster! So happy we stumbled across this place -- not just great fresh food (generous portions) but really friendly staff!! Highly recommend!!

Melanie R.

Yelp
I love coming over here during break, the lobster rolls are amazing and the service is fast and ambiance is nice. Highly recommend stopping by if you're ever downtown and craving a good lobster roll. I feel like it's decently priced for what you get.

Maria F.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place. We were pleasantly surprised to find it situated a hop, skip and a jump from our hotel. It wasn't too crowded at 6pm on a Wednesday. Plenty of seating on this visit. We ordered: Lobster roll 6oz Clam chowder Cole slaw This is my second lobster roll ever. It was delicious. Hands down. They serve it Maine style. The clam chowder was also very good and one of the better chowders we ever tried. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this place. A big thanks to our friend for the recommendation!

Serena L.

Yelp
Warm butter Lobster roll was soft and flavorful. Would also recommend the clam chowder. Food service was fast. Food seemed a bit expensive for the portion size.

James F.

Yelp
Good lunch spot. Very small storefront so probably better to get it to go if at all possible. While it is expensive (to be expected), they did not cheat us on lobster. The roll was good, cooked perfectly, a little buttery, really solid. The lobster consisted of healthy pieces of lobster. The flavor could have been a bit better in my opinion but still good. We also got the clam chowder. So darn good. Stole the show. Get some if you need a quick bite and are by here. Lots of clam, potatoes were cooked well too.

Brian K.

Yelp
This was the last place we ate before leaving Boston and we were super happy with everything we got. We had the regular lobster roll and the sampler, which had a half lobster roll, half crab roll and half shrimp roll. Everything was super b-o-m-b. The bread was perfect, just really light with a great buttery taste. The shrimp, crab and lobster were all just really bright and tangy, with a creamy base and great seasoning. This is the seafood I was waiting for when we visited Boston!

Neil W.

Yelp
Was recommended by our guide....after coming off the Lobster Roll Trail from CAN to US.....not a bad stop. I would recommend the Original or Regular Roll......the Spicy and Truffle were not to my liking.....but the Chowdwr was almost as good as mine.....and that's saying alot.........Cheers

Amy F.

Yelp
Gluten free lobster bisque and clam chowder. I have yet to find it anywhere else. I will have to try the gluten free lobster rolls another day. It was exactly what I needed on a snowy day.

Tony C.

Yelp
There are so many places to choose from in this area. Since we were in Boston, we were looking for a quick place with lobster rolls. Alright a bit pricey, but everything seems to be these days, the lobster and crab rolls really hit the spot. Good food and quick service. Would definitely hit up this place again for lunch.

Gaia B.

Yelp
Food is very tasty! I gave 4 start because it's overprice! 75 dollars for 2 rolls, a bag of chips and a soup it's a little to much even for Boston. Food is very good tho!

Diane H.

Yelp
I got the crab roll and liked it so much, I came back a second time for lunch before my flight. The crab was delicious and 4 oz was plenty for me to enjoy.

Damien M.

Yelp
First time ever having a lobster roll. That and the clam chowder were wonderful. Service is also great. Very recommended!

Hayley H.

Yelp
This was my first time having Luke's Lobster at any location and I'm so glad I did! I ordered a 4 oz lobster roll and my boyfriend ordered the lobster bisque. I also bought one of the blueberry lemonades. While we both thought the lobster was a little gritty, the food was soooo good. Despite ordering the smaller lobster roll size, I felt like it was still a lot to eat and totally delicious. I tried some of the bisque as well and it was the best. I also enjoyed the blueberry lemonade - it was different and tasty. We ordered our food to go. The restaurant itself is small, but very clean. The staff was friendly and the service was great.

Melanie W.

Yelp
I was craving for lobster roll, ended up ordering online for pick up. I ordered the Luke's trio and lobster roll flight. The lobster roll flight included lemon butter, Mala, and truffle butter flavor. The lobster is so meaty and they don't mixed it with dressing. I do enjoyed the Luke's trio which included crab, shrimp, and lobster but it might be bland for some people. Nearly $70 for the 2 trio order for 2oz of each. It worth it once in awhile especially craving for lobster or seafood roll.

Melissa S.

Yelp
Everything here is amazingly good. I tried the Luke's Trio, which has a lobster roll, crab roll, and shrimp roll. And let me tell you. SO flavorful and decadent. The seafood here is, of course, super fresh. And you can really taste it. Some of the best lobster I've ever had. You also can't go wrong with their lobster bisque and coleslaw. Can't wait to come again when I'm in the Boston area again.

Ava T.

Yelp
I loved their take on the lobster roll with hot honey! Sooo delicious. Almost like a takeaway vibe restaurant, simple decor with a few tables. Good amount of lobster in the roll, slightly small but not too bad. Delicious and will definitely come back!

Katie R.

Yelp
Most authentic lobstah roll I've had in Boston! And everyone was so nice. Quick easy snack on our walk. Will be back!

Aru K.

Yelp
I really liked the rolls here, some of the best I've had in Boston. I can totally recommend getting the trio, which lets you taste different rolls and is very fairly priced. Soups were also very tasty. I appreciate being able to order small portions SO MUCH Kind staff, small place, no need to stay long though.

Myke D.

Yelp
Literally blown away! Do yourself a favor and get the warm lobster roll right now. Insanely good. GO!

SpaAddict K.

Yelp
Outstanding! We stumbled on this location because doing the Freedom Trail can be tiring. :) Everything was fresh and fast and the service was so good! Friendly and prompt, they really went above and beyond. And you get to sit across from the Old Corner bookstore (now a Chipotle)!

Brianna K.

Yelp
Convenient location! Clam chowder - excellent! During my weekend in Boston, I had a lot of clam chowder, and this one was excellent. Lobster roll - pretty good. Not creamy or mayonnaise-y. Huge chunks of actual lobster claws, not chopped up into tiny bits. Bread was excellent, the kind that breaks apart and almost melts in your mouth. Flavor was just okay. Price - wow, pretty expensive. $49 for one lobster roll and one clam chowder bowl. But all seafood is expensive, so make of that what you will.

Jonny P.

Yelp
This is a review for just the lobster roll I got. I've been here once few weeks ago to try their lobster roll. For starter, their lobster is fresh and solid for sure, Now that being said, personally I feel like it's a bit too dry. Also the shape of the roll doesn't really compliment the lobsters. It's just my opinion though, someone else might like it. So in conclusion, their ingredients is good, I just don't like the way they made it. They also have two part, first part is the register where you buy and get food, it's pretty small. The second part is on the left hand side when you facing the register. It's the sitting area. However it was off limits when I was there, so to go only.
