What a surprise! I went to pick up sourdough bread, appropriate for a large dinner Salad at a vegetarian friends house tonight. They had lovely rolls that were light on density and crunch needless to say I was thrilled. When I got there, I envisioned I was getting a loaf of French bread, I am from San Francisco. I do understand what sourdough bread is. To my disappointment, everything was sold off the racks. But he had the rolls and he had some focaccia which would’ve been lovely if I was having a pasta or soup dish. he assured me that those rolls will be light and fluffy. So i purchased six of them. And then decided to get the cherry danish that the gentleman in front of me got. And boy what a treat. I want to add that I’ve been there a few times before and with great disappointment missed out on bread missed out on when they were open, etc. but they’ve been well established for several years now and I wanted to try them again. I give them a solid five stars. I give them five stars for listening to me when I said your website says that I can only get bread Between 10 and 1030 as if the rest of the time is just sandwich making and other kinds of delicious items they would have. 10:am is when it comes out of the oven. Today @ 10:25 it was all gone. The gentleman in charge listened to me, he was really nice about it. They said they’d look at the website. I wasn’t a jerk. I was just letting them know about it. And it was a nice interaction with everyone who is on staff there.. The price was fair. Grateful to have a wonderful bakery as Luna bake bakery.

Do yourself a favor and stop by this absolute gem. Pricey but truly the best sourdough pastries I’ve ever had. Dying to come back and try their sandwiches- they look amazing. Make sure to check out their website to see the times that each baked good comes fresh out of the oven for an even tastier experience. It’s a tiny place so there are only a few tables to eat at in store and know that they only have drip coffee. Got the pain au chocolaté and the cardamom bun which was some of the most intense perfect cardamom flavor had in a pastry. Make sure to stop by next time you’re in Yucca Valley!

We spent as much on pastries as we normally would to go to dinner, but happily returned and did it again because everything we tried was FLAWLESS. I think the cinnamon rolls were my favorite, followed by the almond croissant, the cherry pastry, then the cheddar scones. We took their almond butter and jam sandwiches into the national park and enjoyed those very much as well. Textures and flavors were out of this world.

It was a little over $7 for 1 cheese Danish. Absolutely worth every penny. The Danish was flaky and buttery and the cheese was perfectly sweetened...not too much not too little. Thr service was great! The woman behind the counter was happy to answer all of my questions and I never felt rushed even though there was a line. I was inquiring about the pizza dough they had and she actually ended up giving me one to try, free of charge! I have heard that this place does sell out fairly quickly which says a lot! I would absolutely recommend giving Luna Bakery a try if you can.

I was just passing through and thought I'd give it a whirl. Holy smokes, I'm so glad I did. This is world class baking artistry tucked away in a little high desert town. I came to see a show at Pappy and Harriet's, but you know what? I'd book a room and come back here, from another state, just to indulge myself at this bakery and no other reason. Yeah, it's that good. If you are a protein lover, have no fear. You can get a king's portion to compliment your carbs... Just order the smoked salmon sandwich. I also tried the almond croissant, and the sour cherry pastry. 5 stars all the way, baby! The coffee is delicious too.

Got the salmon, cream cheese, dill and capers sandwich and it was delicious. Large portion size and cozy atmosphere. Would happily stop here again.

Overall just an amazing experience. Salmon and cream cheese was phenomenal, a little heavy handed on the cream cheese but still just salty, creamy, delicious. Ham and Brie, again I found a little heavy on the Brie and could probably use a sweet jam or chutney to break up the salt but otherwise it was still great. Almond croissant was divine. Truly just an example of pastry excellence. The whole outing was a little more expensive than I was expecting for breads and pastries but they use organic ingredients and natural methods to make their food. They're all extremely happy and great people.

For only serving sourdough you'd think their baking execution would be spot on, but the bread was so hard it cut our mouths up trying to consume the mediocre VERY expensive sandwiches. Sourdough should be crispy on the outside and have that nice fluffiness on the inside. This was hard as a rock and barely had any inner thickness to make up for that. Sandwich combinations weren't bad, but pretty basic in the creative category. Especially if you're spending $20 on just a sandwich. Service and the workers were very unwelcoming. I guess if you don't smell like weed and incense or have a bunch of star tattoos you're not cool enough to be treated with friendliness. We came, we tried, we'll never go back.

I am a Luna-tic for Luna Sourdough Bakery!!! If in the Joshua Tree area, this is a must stop for amazing breads!!! I am still thinking about their whole wheat focaccia!!! If there is a line out the door, don't hesitate and get in line. It moves pretty fast and is so worth it!! The sourdough comes out later in the day and unfortunately the timing was off for me as we headed out of town (came twice in the same morning, haha), but the whole wheat focaccia was amazing and the bread I didn't know I needed in my life until I had it!! It kept perfect on the trip home and you know it is going to be good when the oils soak the paper bag!! We also got breakfast sammies and an array of pastries! Everything was 10/10 good!!! The employees were amazing and you can tell it is filled with people passionate about that dough!!! Shine on Luna!!! :)

The sandwiches at Luna are absolutely massive. It's a small place, perfect for grabbing a sandwich or pastry to take into the park. Sandwiches are available starting at 9am, and everything is handmade in-house in small batches. The super friendly staff greeted us and helped us decide what to order because so many items sounded great. I went with the Ham & Brie with cornichon on ciabatta and it took me almost 3 meals to finish, so I would say aim to share. Just look at my photo, the amount of brie on the sandwich is crazy! You'll see all of the breads and pastries on display and we couldn't resist splitting a slice of the Chocolate Chip Banana Bread as well which was just as awesome. I did notice that the ciabatta bread had little fuzzies stuck all over it, like it had been sitting on a towel, which did put me off a little but I would still come back for the fresh bread and great flavors.

Drove by this bakery on the way to our Airbnb in Yucca Valley and noticed it closed at 4:30PM or so and was like, what kind of hotshot bakery is this that it can close so early and proceeded to try and shoehorn a visit to this bakery the next two days and decided to go here to pick up lunch to take to our day at The Living Desert Zoo in Indian Wells. Large and good-sized portions with fresh bread and a solid amount of filling whether it be the prosciutto and goat cheese one I got or the heirloom tomato one others in my party did. The kind people behind the counter were reasonably quick with preparing our order (a group of 6). On top of their sandwiches, they also have various pastries and baked goods options that we didn't get to try (luckily, because half of us didn't even finish our sandwich.) Would definitely come back again if we're in the area.

The prosciutto & goat cheese on ciabatta is incredible! I'm so glad I stopped by this bakery. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I came on a perfect day when it wasn't too hot, so the outdoor seating was just right with a nice breeze coming through. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

1000000/10. If you ever watched waitress the musical, this is it in real life. It does not get homier and local than this. The staff are all amazing and happy to be there. The owner was very involved with all her customers and I was in absolute awe because she just radiates joy and warmth!! Beyond that, the quality of the food is great as well!! I am a real bread enthusiast and this place has some great bread and pastries. The sandwich!!! This is the first time in my life I have had a perfect smoked salmon to cream cheese to bread ratio. Literally never been done before but they got it figured it out. My boyfriend and I only ordered these 2 things for brunch and we were super full! Would love to come back and try the rest of the menu There's interior and exterior seating. Fantastic place to people watch and really let yourself get absorbed in the area! Wishing this bakery infinite success and joy!!

We visited Joshua Tree for a few days and were so glad we found this gem! Luna Sourdough Bakery has amazing service and truly delicious baked goods--we loved it so much we brought some home to enjoy later. Can't wait to come back next time we're in town!

My friends and I visited Luna for a quick snack/breakfast while visiting Joshua Tree. Luna gets pretty busy, and we had a bit of a wait. The staff are all great and were doing their best though! I ordered the olive flatbread and a lemon tart. I was going to get a sandwich instead, but the wait time for it was pretty long. I'm glad they let me know though! Both were pretty good, though pricey. The olives on the flatbread were great with a nice fresh olive/olive oil flavor. The lemon tart had a nice crust. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seats at the time were all taken, so we opted to sit outside. The street is a bit busy though. Thanks for having us!

My wife and I were on our way to the grand opening of the Rivian Outpost at Joshua Tree on 12/8/2024 and decided to stop here to grab a quick lunch. The reviews were solid so we wanted to give it a try, too. Upon walking into the bakery, we could smell the freshly baked bread and pastries. The employees greeted us and provided recommendations and information about items on their menu. We ultimately decided on ordering the Castelvetrano Olive Flatbread and the Tuna Salad Sandwich on sourdough. Both items were absolutely delicious! The bread itself was chewy, but soft at the same time. The ingredients were definitely fresh on both items. My wife isn't typically a fan of olives, but she thoroughly enjoyed the flatbread due to its amazing quality. We will definitely stop here again the next time we visit Joshua Tree National Park!

Stopped in for brunch and left satisfied but financially conflicted. The smoked salmon and ham & brie sandwiches were delicious--fresh bread, well-balanced flavors, generous portions. The chocolate banana bread was a nice bonus. Coffee selection? Just drip (or a canned cold brew from the fridge), but at least the drip was solid and came with free refills. Indoor seating with AC was a win, and they let our pups hang out inside--major points for that. Service was also really great - friendly and fast. Now, the $20 sandwich. Was it tasty? Yes. Was it $20 tasty? Unless there's gold leaf or imported sea foam, I can't justify that price tag. Four stars because the food is good, but not "make my wallet cry" good.

Joshua Tree has always been my go to destination. It was my first experience at a national park and the first destination I brought my mom camping. So it's fitting that I decided to bring my daughter to Joshua Tree as her first national park as well. It's sounds like a good plan until you factor in that my daughter is 6 months old and has an attention span of one so my wife recommended that we explore the town before going into the park. That's where we found this hidden gem. Of all the times I've been to Joshua Tree and driven by Yucca Valley, I've never noticed Luna Bakery and I've been missing out. As you know I'm a fan of sourdough and the last place I was planning on getting fresh baked sourdough was the middle of the desert. Luna is a small bakery with a couple tables inside and out but it's packed when I got there at 12 on a Saturday. From what I heard it's a local favorite and they ten to sell out pretty early. A couple items were already sold out when I got there but still had a large selection of bread, sandwiches, and pastries. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese which came with Dill & Caper on Ciabatta. I also ordered a loaf of a sourdough and Castelvetrano flatbread to go. The sandwich was packed. They were extremely generous with the smoked salmon and a good amount of cream cheese to complement it. The capers provided just the right amount of tang to cut the fishiness of the salmon so the salmon was very balanced. The sourdough was the star of the show. Even though it was a couple hours old by the time we got to camp, the bread was still extremely soft and fluffy. I wished it was a bit more tangy (I like my sourdough tangy) but it scratched my itch. Sorry but my family took out the loaf so quickly I didn't get a chance to take a pic but trust me it's good. Now for the details. They have a small parking lot on site which can hold approx 8 cars. There's also street parking so you'll be able to find a spot. Come early as things sell out quick. Cash is preferred as there is a surcharge for using credit card. Small sitting area is available inside as well as outside. Sorry Pokémon Go players, there are no gyms or stops in the vicinity.

I absolutely love their bread! I usually get a loaf on our way back home. I also get a slice of banana chocolate bread. It's the best banana bread I've ever had and that's saying a lot. Yes, it is costly here but definitely such a treat. The sandwiches are huge!! Don't make the mistake I made of getting 2 when one can easily be shared. They load them up! It does get packed at certain times but the line does move quickly.

SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!!!! I got the heirloom tomato sandwich. Honestly INSANE. I can't believe it's taken me so long to try. Definitely recommend it was a 10/10

If you love olives MAKE SURE YOU TRY THE FLATBREAD! Let's be real, it's basically a personal pizza

My husband and I came to Luna Bakery as the first stop when we arrived in Yucca Valley around lunchtime on a Friday. The bakery is casual but has a trendy and chic vibe. There were also several other people already eating outside and placing orders when we arrived. Service was friendly and we got our food very quickly after ordering. My husband got a sandwich for himself and I got the kale and pecorino flatbread. We also shared a potato salad. The flatbread was excellent. It had a dense, airy texture. The flavors of the bitter kale and the sharpness of the pecorino complemented each other well. The potato salad was also good. My husband got a cookie which he enjoyed, but I didn't; it was a little too dry for me. All in all, we enjoyed our food here and would recommend this place if you're after baked goods in Joshua Tree.

Wow, Wow, Wow!! Luna Sourdough Bakery is amazing! We went there yesterday for a quick bite, and to grab some sourdough. Needless to say, we walked away with a bunch of other goodies. The sandwiches-The goat cheese and prosciutto sandwich was amazing. The perfect balance of salty and sweet. The Ciabatta that it was served on had a nice chew and crunch. The Ham and Cheese was also excellent, with top quality meat. The hamburger bun it was served on had a great texture. I wish we picked some up for hamburgers! The sweet treat-The chocolate banana bread was moist (yes, I said it!!!) and a nice little treat. The bread- The sourdough round we picked up was excellent and the baguette was great!! The staff - They were extremely friendly and helpful! I can't say enough good things about this little bakery, and can't wait to go back, and pick up those hamburger buns, and maybe some pizza dough!!

Definitely five stars and two thumbs up for this bakery. My boyfriend and I were on a long weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of LA. The location is fairly easy to find since it's on a busy street. Parking is limited but lots of street parking. Service was fairly quick and they have an array of sourdough to choose from. I initially purchased the focaccia and loved it so much that I "accidentally" gave my boyfriend the wrong directions on our way back home. So, i ended up purchasing another loaf of focaccia and a cheese danish to reward myself for the trick I pulled. I took half of the focaccia to work and shared with my coworkers with some cheese and balsamic / EVOO. Everyone loved it! Cheese danish didn't make it home since I scarfed it all down. It was perfectly sweet and the pastry was flaky. Yum!

I called once to ask for a red velvet cake for our grandson, and I was told I probably couldn't afford a birthday cake from there...on the phone! How rude

This will be my go to stop whenever we visit Joshua Tree. The bread was soft and delicious and the service was very kind. After trying our delicious lox bagel, we ordered more bread to take into the national park. I wanted to go back on the way out but we just didn't have time. Worth a try!

I first found this spot in April thinking it was a coffee shop. While they aren't a coffee shop I was not disappointed because the breads were amazing! Went back today while in town because I had to get food fresh breads. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was quaint. The cardamom buns are delicious and my daughter loves the chocolate croissant. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.

If you are looking to take a break from "meh" sandwiches and want something over the moon, outta this world, head over to Luna Sourdough Bakery in Yucca Valley. Their sandwiches are created with daily fresh-made bread that are stuffed with delicious quality ingredients. I enlisted the Luna Cafe to cater my work retreat, and it was a feast of freshness. Every single attendee was joyfully quiet with their sandwich in hand. Personally I praise the potato salad for my satisfaction. If you opt to dine in you can anticipate a charming and inviting space complimented by exceptional hospitality.

The best croissant I've had in my life was in Paris at Du Pain et Des Idees, life changing quality. Du Pain et Des Idees set the bar so high it's only made my life difficult as they truly ruined me. The croissants at Luna Sourdough Bakery are divine. They're comparable in quality to the croissant at De Pain et Des Idees in Paris and totally worth the $7 price tag. These croissants are expertly made, crispy crunch and delicious. ARTELICE in Los Angeles also has a fantastic croissant. Honestly quite expensive but if you know the struggle of finding a croissant comparable to France's quality then you'd pay possibly even $10 for a croissant in America. The baguette was also incredible $6 and it was so crispy and perfect. I thought $6 was super fair. The pain au chocolate and pain au Nutella are also fabulous. Their kale flat bread was ok, probably would just stick to their croissants. The potato salad was good, a touch too mayoey and a bit pricy at $9. Excellent service, very stylish simple and extremely clean interior. Even cleaner restroom. If I had to take a guess I'd say the owner(s) probably take a lot of pride in their craft and also treat their employees well. Pro tip: call in your order, pay over the phone. Secure your goods and make for a seamless pick up. They do sell out. Croissants were sold out by 12 or so on Saturday when we arrived. Sunday morning we got there at 9:30am and they were generously stocked. However when we drove by just around 10am on Sunday the line was out the door. This is why I'm saying to call ahead and pay over the phone, you're welcome. The other benefit is that if you paid over the phone you can arrive at your leisure and skip the line and just pick up since it was already paid for. Trust me, a lot of people do this they have a whole rack for orders made and paid over the phone. Parking in designated lot, but also noticed people parking by the gas station side and parallel parking on the street. Well behaved doggies are welcome to dine on the patio.

Definitely stop on the way to JTREE! A hole in the wall treat! A must try is the SANDWICHES on their homemade FOCCACIO bread! The SALAMI! Wow! Can't wait to try more. After 10Am they hv great bread and sandwiches! Before then they have pastries and an amazing cinnamon roll on sourdough with cream cheese frosting! As well as some great croissants. Good to know there are no lattes only BLACK COFFEE but they do REFILLS! Great homey services with familiar faces! Feels like a family business where everyone loves what they do. A bit pricey but HIGH QUALITY stuff! I will be stopping here every trip!

Good bakery, small interior. Plenty of parking with an empty dirt lot adjacent to their paved lot. Decent amount of selections to choose from. The chocolate croissant's layers crackled and popped as expected. But the interior could have used more chocolate. The cheddar and onion scone was amazing. Plenty of cheese and onion flavor packed into the biscuit-like texture of the scone.

Great REAL bread! Found this small gem while visiting the desert and wish they could come home with me. They are a sourdough bakery and offer several bread loaf options (ciabatta, baguette, rye, multi-grain and more) as well as sweet and savory pastries. They have a small oven so breads come out in batches and run out quickly especially on the weekend, but you can pre-order. Unfortunately they don't have an espresso machine so if you go for breakfast you can only count on drip coffee. They have pic nic tables outside and parking. A potential move is grab the pastries and get coffee from the nearby coffee shop or make it at home but definitely get the bread and pastries! Everyone there is super nice and friendly and there's definitely a small town feel to the place which was great.

Great pastries! And who doesn't love all the carbs?! I think the sandwiches were the star of the show. I did the ham and Brie which actually had a lot of pickles on it which I didn't mind (and I think added to the flavor profiles) and my hubs did the salami one, both great! We also tried the cinnamon roll which has a very subtle cinnamon flavor with cream cheese icing/frosting on top. The frosting was good but I personally need more cinnamon on my cinnamon rolls. All round great experience and friendly service even with the line way out the door (which we appreciated with little kids)

Mouthwatering delicious, fresh and simple. We were introduced to Lunas Bakery last November. It's a must when we visit our friends out there. I love the croissants we bought them out last visit as we were a group of 8. Can't go wrong with anything in there really but my must have is the rosemary focaccia. They seem to sell out of some items early so don't want too long before visiting. Staff was really laid back and welcoming. They also have some parking available.

Visited Yucca Valley for a family getaway and struck gold when I found this spot 5 minutes away. I was able to make burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. I even brought some ready to go sweets like cinnamon rolls and turnovers. Fresh baked sourdough based breads and goods; what more can you ask for? It's a bit small, but it's an intimate space for a solo study/work session or a one on one date. I was able to supply warm and fresh bread for the family. Tie this all in with the employees who are more than happy to recommend their favorite items to you and you got a gem.

Out of everywhere I went on this trip, I was most excited to come here. The bakery looked so cute and I'm a sucker for fresh bread. My boyfriend and I shared a Prosciutto and fig sandwich which is my biggest weakness! I wanted to try the farro and potato salads but I ended up not trying it. However, the sandwich was phenomenal! The ciabatta was crisp on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I loved the inclusion of the goat cheese. It was very soft and mild; it paired well with everything to add moisture without overpowering the sandwich. It was a nice little sandwich to start my day and I'm sad I won't get to have it again anytime soon!

Drove out to Keys Ranch (Joshua Tree) this morning. Needed some breakfast food for the final stretch. Yucca Valley is the 1/2-way mark. Luna Sourdough Bakery came up as a 4.8 on Yelp. 4.8 is insane, clearly had to stop here. Parking could be a tad better. Limited spaces in their lot, accompanying lot is dirt with some potholes. Won't hold this against them. Folks working here are LOVELY. Service could not get any better. Clearly all of the employees, owner included, take a personal interest in all that walk through their doors. CHEDDAR CHEESE AND ONION SCONE WOW! I love a good savory pastry. This was fresh, packed with flavor but just the right amount of cheese and onion. I could not stop eating it. I planned on only a few bites. However, in minutes it was consumed. Dan had a ham and cheese pastry. He told me it was a solid 5 stars. ENGLISH BREAKFAST TEA Delicious with a spoon of honey. They stock a high-end specialty tea line apparently. I did want some low and/or non-fat milk. They only have whole milk. I digest skim/non-fat milk better. Getting old. Note: not taking off stars; however, if the owner is reading this, please consider non-fat/low-fat options for folks like me. Thank you. Our pastries and beverages were magnificent. And, we had to pass this place on the way back. Obviously, we returned at 1 PM. POTATO SALAD OMG! OMG! OMG! I expected American potato salad. What I got was a container which included purple potatoes, peas, carrots, celery, possibly chopped pickles all lovingly tossed in aioli. Tons of goodness. Amazing taste. When you come here get a container of potato salad for $8. You'll thank me. I bought a second one for lunch tomorrow. Yes - that good. Dan had a salami and cheese sandwich. I tasted it. OMG! If you're cruising along Route 62 near Pioneertown this is a must stop. Their breads all looked amazing. We shall definitely return often.

First I have to say I normally don't bother to write reviews but I just want to let the public know if you know their pastries don't waist your money or your pallet on this bakery. The Pain au chocolat ( chocolate in a croissant ) was the worst! I couldn't finish it. The croissant was rubbery and oily and the chocolate was grainy to where a decent Pain au chocolat is flaky, buttery, easy to pull apart and the chocolate is creamy. It was as though they bought it frozen and used the microwave to heat it up....Gross! I tried a couple of other pastries and was just as disappointed. I have done some traveling and always love to stop at bakeries in diffrent cities and countries and I have to say this bakery was the worst! I will Not recommend and I will Never go back to Luna Bakery Yucca Valley, Ca

Very yummy food! I enjoy the chocolate chip banana bread, it's a must have whenever I go.

We were in Joshua Tree for the weekend and Luna was recommended by a friend. Luna offers a wide variety of freshly baked breads, muffins, pastries, and sandwiches. We ordered the chocolate banana bread (not pictured), almond croissant, and the ham & cheese pastry. Don't come here for fancy coffee, this is a legit bakery that serves delicious baked goods. There's a very small parking lot and definitely a line that goes out the door, but it moves very quickly.

10/10!!! This is a small but mighty bakery. We were lucky enough to indulge in a cardamom bun, original croissant, and the ham and cheese sandwich. Everything was delicious and fresh. The cardamom bun was sweet, buttery, and perfectly flakey. The ham and cheese sandwich came in a sourdough bread roll. It was phenomenal. A simple sandwich but packed with quality ham and savory cheese. A must! Staff were also very welcoming. They have some dining space as well to enjoy your goods in house.

I used to come here time to time to pick up some baked goods on my way to Steak n Shake. I love that this is a mom and pop bakery and the ambiance is very pacific northwest like. Nice patio tables outside and seemly always busy. However I notice a disappointment when I don't tip for a to go order. No one waits on me. They just put the item in the bag and hand it to me. What am I tipping for? And secondly the price went up a lot. I paid $7.50 for a croissant and that's a lot of a piece of bread. I thought the price used to be closer to $5. Lastly it might have been a fluke, but the bottom of the croissant was burned and the croissant itself wasn't as buttery smooth as I recalled on my last visits here. Maybe it was just that day. Anyways this is an honest review. This place is always busy and has great vibes.

The best food and people! Every time I come in I'm always greeted kindly. They have the best focaccia and bakery items. Highly recommend!

Best option to pick up sandwiches and pastries before heading into Joshua Tree NP. We came with a large group and so we tried pretty much everything on the menu and it was all so good! Love that everything is baked from sourdough flour, even the pastries. From their cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins and savory scones to the incredibly unique and flavorful sandwiches, flatbread and baguettes, this is well worth the drop. They only had drip coffee but even that was probably some of the best I've had. The owner is super friendly and made sure everyone was well taken care of despite the line out of the door, they run a smooth operation. So nice to see small businesses that focus on using quality ingredients and making eating out something you don't feel guilty about because you get nice quality food, as good as homemade. Stop in, you won't be disappointed!

Went for a birthday lunch. I live 5 mins away. The place was buzzing. I had the olive focaccia or flatbread, which was absolutely excellent, some of the best flatbread I've had for a while. It was covered in I think mozzarella cheese, and fontina which was well done, nice and browned, which I like and had my favorite olives, castelvetrano on the top. It's hard to get these olives, but they are so delicious. My friend had the Salami sandwich with Provolone, house made Giardiniera, Red Leaf and Grain Mustard Dressing. I also had a butterscotch turnover which my friend said was very good. Overall a great birthday foodie experience!

This spot was amazing! I wish I had more time to try more items but everything I had was a 10/10. The sourdough baked goods are so subtle and unique! The scone and cinnamon roll were by far my favorite but the chocolate croissant was also amazing! It's a small shop with a line but line moved quickly and staff was absolutely friendly and helpful!

Fabulous. I dream about this place and have visited every time I come up to Joshua Tree. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Also yes.

Grabbed some drip coffees with a cheddar scone and a sourdough cinnamon bun which were both delicious. Decided to grab a ham and Brie sandwich and a prosciutto goat cheese and fig jam sandwich for our hike the next day. Luna wrapped them in plastic and both sandwiches were amazing even the next day! Can't recommend enough!!

Why is 6 stars not an option?! My friends and I came to Luna to pick up some breakfast and sandwiches to eat during our hike. I tried their savory scone, sourdough croissant, and their proscuitto sandwich with fig jam and goat cheese. I am BLOWN AWAY. I can't sing higher praises for this establishment. The sourdough croissant was so unique and delicious. The scone was flavorful and buttery. And my sandwich was probably the best sandwich I have ever eaten. The sourdough bread was chewy and fluffy. The filling was generous with goat cheese, proscuitto, and sweet jam. I wish they opened a location in LA! For a scone and a sandwich, my total came out to over $20 - which the price is a little steep but it's literally worth every penny. There's free parking in the back. There is one gender neutral restroom. They only start serving sandwiches after 9am and focaccia even later.

The prosciutto and goat cheese sandwich was perfectly balanced and the ingredients were so fresh. Absolutely delicious!

RUN not walk into Luna's! My husband and I walked in 20 minutes before close on a Thursday afternoon, and were blown away by the service. When asked the option to stay or go, we initially opted to go being that they were close to closing, but the young women helping us encouraged us to stay regardless and we're super glad we did. She wasn't able to heat the pastries because the oven was off for the day, but if you go close to closing, just maybe you'll get lucky like we did and leave with extras you didn't originally order. With that said the service was amazing! Treats were amazing, and seating was plentiful. It was sooooo hard to settle on the 5 pastries we chose, but we got the lemon bar (best I'd ever had), plain croissant, carrot cake, and cheese danish. And here's the kicker, they're all made with sourdough! If and when we revisit the area again, Luna's will be graced with our presence and we'll leave with lots of presents.

This is one of those reviews I'm reluctant to leave because I'm afraid they'll get too busy and always be out of my favorite items - haha! But seriously, Luna is my new addiction, so I want this amazing bakery to be successful and stay open FOREVER (for-evah-evah, for-evah-evah)! Their hours are limited to breakfast and lunch Th-Sun, so you'd better set a reminder on your calendar if their delicious baked goods are on your weekly shopping list. Some weeks at our house, we think a single loaf of country sourdough (and a couple pastries) will be enough to get us through until the next Thursday, but we're often wrong and go back on Sunday for a backup loaf for our morning toast and daily sandwiches (and probably a few more pastries and a cup of coffee, you know -- since we're already there and all). On our first visit, we got an olive loaf that was still hot from the oven, and we broke break, eating a good third of it before we even started the car, caring nothing about our lack of butter or cutting utensils... We have zero shame for the gluttony that bread awoke within us. Go early for the biggest selection, but don't worry if they're out of your favorite item because odds are good that there are other items still warm from the oven that will be delicious, even if it wasn't exactly what you had in mind before you arrived. That's how we discovered the "flatbread", which is tender, fluffy focaccia topped with cheese, olives and artichokes... It's also how we discovered the apple muffins... If you're in luck, you'll get to try the cheddar green-onion scones or my personal favorite, the ham & cheese danish (ham and melted cheese in the center of flaky layers of sourdough pastry FTW!). Beverage-wise, they have tasty drip coffee and tea, along with bottled drinks. If you need a locally roasted espresso drink, or you prefer overpriced foo-foo milky sugar coffee with an Italian-esque name and green cup, you can go further east up Hwy 62 - lol... PS - To anyone dissuaded by reviewers expressing displeasure by Luna's limited hours, let's be real: This is an artisan, organic, mom & pop small business in a small tourist town. A huge percentage of small businesses and eateries in the Morongo Basin have limited business hours to meet the needs of the crowds and pay the bills while still balancing their family and personal lives. It's the 21st Century, so call ahead, check the website, subscribe to their email and/or follow them on social media if you want to be up to date without driving "up the hill"...

Wow first time in today and I will be back for sure. I got a chocolate croissant which was flaky, buttery, and very yummy. They had a pear, almond torte, which my daughter devoured. She's only two. I also got the chive and cheddar scone, which was moist and flavorful. And an apple muffin, that too was moist and had nice pieces of Apple inside. The service was very friendly, and the only thing is the parking lot is a little small .

Best country sourdough bread ever. They also had an olive sourdough bread that was amazing. Every time I come to the desert I pick up a loaf. But don't get there too late, they will have nothing left. They have scones that are wonderful. There almond cookies melt in your mouth. Wonderful place!

It's a little "pricey" but, for me, it's worth it to have a bakery nearby, with a great variety of breads, sandwiches, and treats. The bread & pastries are always fresh. The owners & staff are always welcoming and attentive. It's a cute, cozy place to enjoy a coffee & croissant.

I had this on my list to stop at while in the Joshua Tree area as their sandwiches and baked goods sound very good and I'm glad we did! We came midday on Monday and it was more crowded than we expected but we were able to get a table out front. It's a small space inside so it fills up quickly. The workers were nice although they seemed slightly overwhelmed and we were informed that our sandwiches would take 25 minutes, which we were fine with but did seem a little excessive as they only offer cold sandwiches so prep time doesn't take as long. Our sandwiches were delicious, the bread is super fresh tasting and we got baked goods that we enjoyed later on as well. The service was the only thing slightly lacking here, everyone was nice but not very efficient. They only have 3 tables outside and one of the tables was filled with people's used plates and mugs and a group who wanted to sit there ended up having to clear it themselves and when they told a worker who finally came outside about 40 minutes later, he didn't seem phased. It wasn't enough to deter me from returning though and the food was worth it!

Honestly I don't know how they do it but they do it right. It's crazy to even imagine that likely the best sourdough in the US is in freaking Yucca Valley, but I think it actually is. Will be back, they will take my money and I will be happy.
