We had a brunch here and the food was delicious! The customer service was great—our waiter was friendly and attentive. However, the wait for the food was quite long. One person in our group ordered the onion soup and finished it well before the rest of our meals arrived. The virgin mojito was just okay. Overall, a good experience thanks to the tasty food and great service, but the long wait time was a downside.

Had dinner at Luxbar and had a great time! The atmosphere was amazing, really great vibes and lively restaurant to be in. The food was delicious: we had the tuna tacos, sweet chili fried calamari, and the kale and avocado salad (my personal favorite were the tacos). What blew us away was the dessert: the snickers pie was above and beyond expectations! It really was top-notch. Highly recommend Luxbar in Chicago!

Came here for brunch but they still serve their dinner menu all day, we sat upstairs which has a great view over the area. They have an awesome cocktail selection and state they can make any drink you want not on the menu. Great espresso Martinis and dirty ones with blue cheese olives. Def get the tomato bisque and French onion to start, we also got the Cobb and they split it for us. For dessert you have to get the cookie skillet, it was unreal. Service was super attentive even though the place was packed.

High end American food, but mostly a bar for sure. The food menu was minimal which helps for indecisive people like me, but seems like their drink menu was much bigger. I was there to eat with friends so my experience was just alright. I had the Classic Burger with cheese, cooked medium. They cooked it just as I asked, and it was pretty good. My two complaints would be that the burger was too tall for me to fit in my mouth, making my experience really messy. But that could be just me. And I felt that the burger patty itself was not very seasoned. Without physically adding ketchup to the burger, it tasted pretty bland and just meaty. Restaurant itself was very nice looking place, I probably would not come to eat here again unless I was coming back to try some of their drinks with my friends.

I love LuxBar! It’s one of my favorite places in the city for good food and drinks! I will say some items on the menu are better than others… so it is important what you get! Highly recommend: Saved by the Bell (may be my favorite cocktail in the city… I hope it becomes permanent!). Apple BBQ Fried Chicken (INCREDIBLE albeit messy!). Mac and cheese. Avoid: “baby” back Ribs (while they look great… there is no meat on them! NONE! And what meat there is sticks to the bone. Also these are regular ribs not small tender baby back ones). Sliders (too basic for the price).

LUXBAR is one of my top favorite restaurants in Chicago. I’ve been coming here regularly since I moved to Chicago years ago, and LUXBAR and has truly helped me make Chicago feel like home. The staff has been there for years - which is just a true testament of how great the restaurant is in general. Ryan is amazing and is THE example of what a restaurant GM should be. The bartenders are also amazing at what they do. They are seasoned, knowledgeable and talented. Don’t take it from me though, even my best friends think of it as home–they hosted their engagement party there. FOOD ALLERGY ALLY! I have a VERY limited diet due to many food allergies. LUXBAR has been generous and accommodating since the first time I stepped foot in the bar. They’re extremely conscientious about avoiding cross-contamination. And, in one instance, Ryan, the general manager, even ran out to my table when my plate came out to replace the dish because of an ingredient he wasn’t sure about for me. Everything on the menu (per my friend’s testimonials) is amazing. My go-tos are the Cobb salad, filet minion, hummus plate and the club. It doesn’t stop there though: my friends love the truffle fries, cookie skillet, and tuna tacos.

Luxbar absolutely nailed it! I stopped in for a casual bite and ended up having one of the best slider experiences ever. The mini burgers were juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked—with soft buns and just the right amount of toppings. Simple, classic, and done so well. The vibe at Luxbar is relaxed but polished, and the service was friendly and fast. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a longer meal, this place hits the mark.

Wonderful time I had here. Good options for every time of the day. Great food to open up the appetite accompanied by some amazing cocktails. Dishes are delicious and dessert adds that closing extra to your dinning.

The restaurant was fantastic today. Our extended family reserved space on the second floor for a family event. From planning through execution, the staff was attentive, helpful and efficient. Their effort was genuine... they wanted us to have a fantastic time and we certainly did. Every single dish was properly executed in both appearance and taste. It may be difficult to please a party of 24 with 100% success. LUXBAR did it with ease. Finally, the restaurant space was perfect. We were provided a comfortable area within which to socialize and enjoy a fantastic meal. I couldn't ask for anything more. We would like to give us a special shout out to Eric, Nico and Oliver for their fantastic service today. Apologies to anyone I've missed , and gentlemen, please pass along our compliments to everyone involved. We can highly recommend LUXBAR . This will run establishment is worthy of a visit.

We've been passing by Luxbar for years and decided to give it a try as we always see people dining here. The first floor has a lot of tables but there isn't much space between so it is a bit cramped. The bathroom is on the second floor with some additional tables. We ordered: - Handmade Guacamole - Buffalo Chicken Salad - Baby Back Ribs (half) We really enjoyed the guacamole, but the other two were just okay. They weren't bad, but had higher expectations. The waitress was very nice, I guess not enough chicken was ready for the salad when the ribs were ready, so they made quite a bit more and brought it out pretty quickly. Overall the place is pretty cool, but the food was a bit lacking comparatively.

I had an incredibly disappointing and frankly disturbing experience at LuxBar in Chicago this week. Our server abruptly left in the middle of serving our table. A manager stepped in but provided extremely inadequate service--no drink refills, dirty dishes left sitting for a long time, and no explanation. When we finally asked why our server had stopped serving us, the manager said the server felt "uncomfortable" for an unspecified reason and wouldn't say more. At the end of the meal, after waiting a long time with no one clearing our table or offering more drinks, I saw our server nearby and gently tapped him on the arm while saying "excuse me." He responded, without stopping, by saying "Don't f***king touch me," and kept walking. I was stunned and upset. I went to the host stand and asked if someone could please help us, and also shared that the situation felt uncomfortable and possibly homophobic. I never said our server was homophobic--I only said his language and energy felt that way to me. Instead of receiving an apology or even acknowledgment of how I felt, the manager came to our table and asked us to leave--saying we had made our server feel uncomfortable. Apparently, it's policy at LuxBar to remove guests who make staff uncomfortable, but not the reverse. At no point did anyone from LuxBar apologize for how I was treated. I left feeling disrespected, judged, and dismissed--for calmly expressing concern about what felt like biased treatment. I'm sharing this because I believe guests deserve to feel safe and respected--especially in a city like Chicago where diversity should be a strength, not a reason for discomfort. This was a really nice date at LuxBar for restaurant week 2025. This was my second time coming to this establishment. The first time that I came I only had a cocktail and it was during the early evening. On this occasion, the restaurant was packed. Originally, we had a reservation for the following evening, but because we were already out and about, we decided to see if we could do a walk-in on a Thursday evening. We were in luck, the place was packed, but as soon as we walked in a table had just cleared. The hostess was able to cancel our reservation for the following night and promptly seated us. The atmosphere was really electrifying at this restaurant on a Thursday evening. We were served by Alicia who was really sweet and very informative. Alicia was really good at making sure our drinks stayed cold and plentiful. Alicia also was good at making recommendations for the build your own Manhattan menu. It was restaurant week so we did order off the prefix menu. For appetizers we got the guacamole which was really fresh and then also the sliders. The guacamole was really good, but the sliders were just OK. They actually looked pathetic but tasted decent. There were no toppings for the sliders so we just use the guacamole. For our second course, we both got the steak which come with french fries because they were out of the ribs which I was looking forward to. However, there's always next time. During our meal, we did enjoy cocktails to include a spicy strawberry. My Margarita and my husband had a neat Manhattan for spirits. We also indulged in some of their complementary bread and the butter was very fresh. We ended our evening with getting our desserts to go because our parking was almost up and I didn't want to re-up. When we got home, we did enjoy the skillet cookie and ice cream and it was a nice completion to our evening. All in all this was a really successful restaurant week dinner service very good value for the price point. I would return to eat here.

I really enjoyed my dinner at luxbar - the Gibsons hospitality really shows through! It's a great option for a casual (and affordable) but good quality meal with an upscale service feel. I came on a Wednesday night and it was quite busy, but not overly packed and easy to have a conversation. Definitely recommend getting a reservation though. I had heard great things about the espresso martinis here and can confirm that they were DELICIOUS. Also started with the crab cake which was a large portion and served with slaw and a sauce. We both got the salmon which was crispy and flavorful and split sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli (ordered separately). The potatoes were fabulous; the broccoli wasn't anything special but nice to have a veggie. Ended with the cookie skillet which was excellent. And shout out to the employee who went and found luxbar matchbooks for me! Really loved the service here and that's what sets this restaurant apart.

I love this place but I always end up slightly disappointed for some reason. It's either the food coming out too late or the restaurant itself being too loud to hear anything. I recommend going during a week night because the volume level alone on Friday and Saturdays turns me off from visiting again. Food is good, decor is very cool, but wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

This place never disappoints. Came here with a group of friends and they all had a great time. They make a smooth Old Fashioned. High quality food. Definitely recommend.

The service at the bar here is phenomenal. When you sit at the bar, the bartenders are incredibly attentive and it's fun to watch them make your drinks. My white Negroni was delicious-- they always have fun seasonal drinks. There's a wide variety of people here and always great people watching. The restaurant is large and clean. Would be great for a large group dinner.

I've written Lux Bar a review before so I'll keep it straight to the point.....this place is the best!!!!! My absolute favorite skinny spicy marg in the city & the best place to go for drinks and apps. I recently tried their Kale and Truffle pizza & now I'm going to have to order it every time. The crust is thick, similar to Detroit style and it was so good I can't wait to go back already. Definitely make a reservation because Luxbar is always packed!!!!

Great food and an even better atmosphere. Everything I ordered was delicious, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. Loved the whole experience--can't wait to come back!

Luxbar -- Late Night Lovin' Done Right! Pulled up after 10PM on a whim and ended up having the perfect intimate night out. The whole space gave grown and cozy vibes--dim lights, chill energy, and delicious bites. I started with a refreshing mojito mocktail and couldn't resist the Wagyu pigs in a blanket--absolute chef's kiss . For the main, the buttery steak frites hit the spot, and my partner's Lux Royale burger was a whole moment . Luxbar is definitely that late-night gem for great food, drinks, and a soft vibe to match. Will definitely be back!

Luxbar is ALWAYS popping from the patio to the indoor part of the restaurant it id always packed!! This is such a fun place to go to for dinner with a group of friends. They have great salads and sandwiches. I've always had good service here as well and it is a fun place. The drinks have always been very good too!! My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito and that thing was massive he always said it was super tasty!

I had dinner here with a co worker who is also a good friend - this is her spot. The area is super bougie but LUXBAR feels neighborhoody. I had the turkey burger which was honestly great. Service was attentive and friendly. Prices (considering the area) are reasonable. If you're a lady of a certain age who's looking for a thrice divorced dentist, I'm pretty sure they have you covered. Two thumbs up.

Had such a great lunch at Luxbar. We came to try their Restaurant week menu and loved everything! For the first course I got the French Onion Soup and it was one of the best I've ever had. I then doubled down on a second soup - tomato bisque and a grilled cheese. Soooo good! The restaurant week deal came with a dessert so I went with a hot fudge sundae. AMAZING! Can't wait to come back

Came here with some friends the day after Christmas and really enjoyed! The place was packed so it can be a little hard to get in/out of your table. Overall the food and drinks were delicious and our server was super helpful.

After having a difficult time finding a place to eat on July 4th, we made the short walk from Michigan Ave. to Luxbar for a late dinner. The restaurant was very busy, but the hostess was able to get us seated very quickly. We ordered the guacamole with homemade chips, and both were excellent. The guacamole was fresh and delicious. I had the chili, made with prime steak and black beans. It was better than your average chili you find in restaurants. They do put fresh jalapeños in the chili, not the pickled kind, so the heat is real. T had the buffalo chicken salad. The chicken was hand-breaded and had just enough buffalo sauce that you knew what it was. The service was excellent, with Emma making sure that fellow Tennesseans were taken care of. We are very glad we found this place. The atmosphere and food were outstanding.

We came here to try their espresso martini and it did not disappoint! It was not too sweet or too bitter - it was just the perfect combination of coffee and sweetness that I love. The bartenders are honestly some of the nicest bartenders I've met in the city! I highly recommend grabbing a seat at the bar. The place overall has a nice old school Chicago feel to it thanks to the dark wood interior.

Such a cute spot What I ate: - Wagyu pigs in a blanket: ok who doesn't like a little mini sausage wrapped up in dough? These were nice little bites that came with mustard - Pepperoni pizza: This was more Detroit style pan pizza and pretty tasty. Was is the best pizza I've ever had? No, but come on - it's pizza!!! - Hot fudge sundae: I never order ice cream, but for some reason in my wine buzz this sounded so tasty. The fudge was nice and chocolatey. This sundae was probably enough for 4 people Pros: - Easy to grab a rez a few hours prior. Our party shrank from a 4 top to 2 and they kindly accommodated and didn't give us any attitude about it - Staff were all super friendly - hostess, server, manager. Very cheerful and friendly. I could tell they were busy but the server made the time to make small talk with us - Patio: We were visiting from LA and were expecting cold weather all weekend, but we must have brought that balmy LA weather with us. The night was a sweet spring night, and it was perfect sitting on the patio enjoying the night. Nice to people watch. Honestly I preferred this to the inside, which seemed to be on the loud side - Menu was American classics and bar food. They definitely had some Gibson menu items Cons: - It must have been a busy night, the bathroom wasn't as clean. They even ran out of paper towels and had stocked with napkins instead. Is this the end of the world - absolutely not, but just something I noticed Would I come again? Yes, definitely the next time I'm visiting!

Had a great time at Luxbar with friends on the terrace! The vibe was super nice and relaxed. I ordered the salad -- super fresh and tasty. Perfect spot for a sunny day in the Gold Coast. I'll definitely be back.

Service was incredible. Sofie was very attentive and had a great attitude. My biggest complaint is the "Gibson's" steak I ordered. Not sure how this is "Gibsons" steak. It was not cooked to temperature the way I ordered it, it was cold, and seemed tough. I ordered the NY Strip medium rare. It came medium plus and seemed like it was sitting around for a bit. The broccoli and Brussels Sprouts were also lukewarm.

Service is great, food is excellent, and their cocktails are supreme. Especially their old-fashioned. Their tuna steak bar plate is exceptionally delicious. Great place to go for lunch or dinner.

10/3/2021--Located in the Viagra Triangle, this place is where you want to be for Sunday brunch. Crowded, but fun and filled with good vibes and cool people. The staff is attentive even on a busy day. The drinks are refreshing. Food is brought out fresh, hot, and in a timely manner. I honestly got lost in how good the food was that I didn't take pictures of everything I had. Guess that means I have to go back again, especially since I was eating low carb. Parking is metered and can be a nightmare in this area. Valet is available in front of Gibsons. Reservations are highly recommended. P.S. other items I tried, not pictured, smoked chicken wings and turkey burger on lettuce. Everything was delicious!

I stayed at the hotel across the street and their restaurant was under construction, Luxbar was offering 10% off bills as a compromise. During my stay, I went to Luxbar twice and both experiences were great. The first time I went for dinner with a group of 5. We really appreciated the upstairs seating as the noise level was significantly lower upstairs. Our waiter could have been better as it seemed like he didn't come around that often and it took quite some time for us to be able to order drinks. We put in an order for an app and before we could also order drinks he was walking away, and someone else brought our appetizer back out. However the food was phenomenal! Highly recommend the Steak Frites, the Buffalo chicken salad, or the Lux Club. If it's on the menu as the sandwich of the month, I would highly recommend the Chicken Caprese Sandwich! The second visit was just for drinks and appetizers and the service was phenomenal and the drinks were amazing! Highly recommend the No lux given!

I had a much much better experience this time around. Although I had a less than ideal experience last time, the seared tuna had me excited to come back. Just as last time, it was amazing and fresh. I also got to try the tuna tacos and they were incredible. LuxBar wows me with their tuna. I tried the Royal burger and the apple bbq chicken sandwich, both were delicious. The coleslaw is fresh and not overly sweet. The french fries are to die for! I don't think I raved enough about them last time. They are perfectly crispy and seasoned well. My royal burger was juicy and cooked to perfection. The macaroni gratin was probably my least favorite dish tonight. Where it lacked flavor it made up in cheesiness, but this was just a random side so I didn't put too much stock in it. Although I was surprised the lack of seasoning it had considering it is partially a Parmesan dish. Service was super fast today and our waitress was attentive. Ryan, the general manager, also stopped by to check in on our table, which was appreciated. Overall, LuxBar won me back with tonight's experience. I will be back for the tuna!

I got the tuna tacos and French onion soup. Both were pretty good, but I recommend the French onion soup over the tuna tacos. I sat at the bar and the service was great. The ambience is more upscale. I would definitely go again.

Updating! LUXBAR is still as good as ever. Stopped in for a quick dinner on a Wednesday and had the delight of having Jenny as our server. She was so polite and fun; a real treat to have and enriched our experience. The environment was lively, but not too loud. The food was excellent per usual. We both opted for soups tonight. My wife had grilled cheese and tomato soup, and I had their steak and black bean chili. Both were phenomenal. That chili is to die for. A true Chicago classic honestly. Thank you, Jenny and LUXBAR!

By far the most spectacular customer service experience I have EVER had. I previously worked in the food service industry for 15 years and I know service with a purpose. They are TOP TIER! I will be a regular.

It is conveniently located across the street from our hotel, where we got a small discount. I have been wanting to come here for a while though. It worked out very well since it was slightly rainy and we could walk on over. I got the salmon and a side of broccoli. It was good not as flavorful as I was hoping it to be. Service was quick and easy. There were a couple of flies that made lunch a little annoying.

Luxbar is Chicago Gold Coast neighborhood's cocktail bar. It offers a quintessential American dining and drinking experience and has been around since 2005. Stepping into Luxbar feels like entering a sophisticated historic spot, with its checkerboard floors, mahogany walls, and black Italian marble. This is a perfect spot for happy hour, dinner & drinks or a night cap. The drink menu at Luxbar is the standout, offering a a fantastic selection of handcrafted cocktails. Whiskey and bourbon enthusiasts like me will find themselves in heaven with an extensive selection to choose from, such as the Old Fashioned c. 1881, along with a unique "Build Your Own Manhattan" menu.

This is a great joint in a trendy part of town! For the location and ambiance, the prices were fairly reasonable, especially for Chicago. The Luxe burger was $17.50 and it was pretty sizeable. My wife and I actually shared it, which they split and plated for us. We each also got a small crock of fries, but it looked like we received more than if we had not split the plate. Very nice gesture by the team there! The burger itself was on point! Very tasty, very fresh, very well cooked and presented. It's one of the few "gourmet" burgers I've had that wasn't falling apart too. Well constructed and presented. We were talked into upgrading the fries to their truffled ones, and that was the right call. So delicious, I couldn't stop eating them! I also ordered the "build-your-own" Old Fashioned. I love the concept, but I couldn't decide on the options. So, I went with the "let the bartender choose" option, just with asking for a single 3" ice cube. Very accommodating! The joint was CROWDED! Even without the standing bar crowd, it was very hard to leave after we were finished. They really packed in the tables and chairs. There's an ample patio out front, though, and what looked to be additional seating upstairs. It wound up being very loud because of this, though, but we had a good conversation still with the table of four. I dug the aesthetic of the place too! It almost had a mix of post-bellum French style, with splashes of art deco scattered about. Very neat décor! Overall, this is a great little joint to get a good meal at a decent price in a relaxing atmosphere, provided you don't mind crowds or noise. Hardly worth detracting a star for, though. I'd recommend it if you're in the area, and I'd return readily without hesitation!

I love LuxBar. I've probably been here 50+ times, it's one of the best in Gold Coast. LuxBar is brilliant for every meal, their brunch is so yummy as is their dinner. The steak is amazing, both the breakfast and dinner versions. Service is impeccable. Location is spectacular and the upstairs view is beautiful. We love the pigs in a blanket appetizer, the pretzel, the tuna tacos, the guacamole, and the chicken soup. The burger is also amazing as are the French fries. Don't miss this place!

My bad experience two years ago has been completely eliminated by the amazing experiences I've had since. Today's burger was the best yet. My first visit has proven to be an anomaly on my end.

This is in a nicer neighborhood full of high-end stores and has a great vibe. I was here with a large group and the food and service were middle of the road and hence the 3 star. Chicago typically has great food and perhaps my expectations were too high.

As good as these sandwiches and salad looked we were underwhelmed especially for the price.

Loved the Luxe bar, we ordered the fried chicken something we've never ordered out and it was incredible. Would definitely go back. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and offered great suggestions.

I love Luxbar. The service and food are always great. Gibson's restaurants do it right. Prices are also very reasonable for the area. That said, the salmon was not my favorite dish last night. It was extremely salty and undercooked. The frisée salad with it was also just sad imo. So now I know. Otherwise, it's one of my favorite spots.

Had a coworker visiting, so we decided to go to Luxbar, and it was wonderful! Our server, Alycia, was truly the best--so friendly, warm, and on top of everything. Was able to grab bar seats at 8:30pm on a Friday night. Bartender was friendly. Got the skirt steak which was really dry and def not cooked medium rare. Fries were just ok. But the steak was suuuuper disappointing Also got the 7oz filet mignon which was also not cooked medium rare. It was less worse than the skirt steak but still extremely disappointing Sigh it was a huge waste of money I came for the snickers ice cream pie anyway.... Now $13.50. Reminder to self next time, prob just got truffle fries and snickers pie between two people or just the snickers pie. Everything else not worth it.

Came in for dinner on Sunday night with some friends. Everything was excellent. Bar staff made us some rum drinks. Our group has some rum enthusiasts. Also ordered a bottle of wine conversation was flowing very festively. I ordered a NY strip medium rare and macaroni cheese. Extremely satisfied with the meal and drinks!!

First rate Mother's Day brunch from start to finish. We were an early arrival when they opened at 9am and it filled up both inside and outside rather quickly. Karla and the entire staff were amazing from getting our food order in a very timely manner but not rushing us out the door. Always love going to LUXBAR as it just has the perfect atmosphere, it's been a few years and this was a welcome return!

This place is a vibe. We accidentally came on a Saturday night and also the day of the Kentucky derby so it was very loud and pretty busy. The tables were too close together so I had to push my seat really into the table to give the person behind me enough room, again I assume this was because it was an event day. The drinks were good and the food was very tasty. I would totally come back when we're back in town!

As a big fan of craft beer, the vintage collection of beers is outstanding. I had a very well preserved 2010 Goose Island Matilda. They have a big selection of bourbon county as well as harder finds from breweries across the US. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and friendly. I had the Reuben and fries, which both were great! Definitely coming back for another vintage beer and the cocktail looked amazing.

LOUD. So very loud. Five of us ate in silence because we refused to scream. (And we're in our 30s/40s, we can handle some noise.) We've lived around the corner for 8 years, came here last night for the first time, and won't be back.

This was the best brunch I've had yet in Chicago! We got some fruit and aperol spritzs to start, super yum. I wasn't super hungry, I went for the tomato soup and grilled cheese, and I finished every last bit lol. My partner got the eggs benedict and it was pleased with it. We really enjoyed the vibes too, such a nice patio space! Can't wait to go back!

I came here late on a Friday night without a reservation and got a table outside. I love the ambiance in Gold Coast and enjoyed sitting outside. The service was good and quick. The food was all very good, although the steak frites were just okay. However, at only $19, they may have been the cheapest steak frites I've seen. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, and my friends got espresso martinis. Overall, great vibes and a fantastic location.
