A new addition to the 2025 Michelin guide that’s lowkey serving some of the best Vietnamese food in NYC.
I visited Lyly on a freezing Tuesday night and the restaurant was packed, with people even waiting outside. That’s how you know it’s that good.
Also, their hospitality is 1000/10. Every server was super sweet and helpful, no matter how busy they were. It just warmed my heart to dine here and I was already planning my next visit the moment I left.
*Hanoi Dry Pho $18 **
Imagine Hanoi pho but without the broth, served with sirloin and a secret sauce. It was flavorful with the sauce clinging to every noodle. Don’t be shy to ask for extra sauce!
*Saigon Hawker Rice $20 **
The lemongrass pork chop was tender, sweet and fragrant. It came with a steamed egg with minced meat, a sunny side-up egg, and fresh veggies. A must-order item!
*Vietnamese Crepe $15 *
Almost everyone recommended their bánh xèo, a crispy omelet stuffed with pork belly, shrimp, and bean sprouts. It was delicious wrapped in lettuce and dipped into the fish sauce.
*BA (Dad’s) Shrimp Rolls $11
The roll was filled with meaty shrimp, mushrooms, and glass noodles. It reminded me of shrimp tempura, but I might like this even better. The deep-fried net rice paper was thin and crispy.
*Fruit Cocktail Dessert $7
While I really wanted to try the flan, we were told it’s very strong in coffee, so I didn’t want to risk it at night lol. Instead, this fruit dessert was a refreshing, light option, with pandan and coconut jelly, jackfruit, longan, pomegranate, and coconut milk.
Just a note that the restaurant is quite small and the tables are very close to one another. Their restroom is exceptionally clean.
