"Out in Ruston, this trattoria is a perfect dinner stop after a day spent hanging out in nearby Point Defiance Park. Maculoso’s is an upscale-ish neighborhood Italian joint, with exposed brick and wine racks all over, that’s good for a date, a girl’s night, or a family dinner. Focus on the handmade pastas: It’s hard to pick a favorite, but we always go straight for the pappardelle with a meat sauce that’s loaded with perfectly tender beef, or the alfredo tagliatelle with chicken, sausage, and mushrooms. Seafood starters like vongole saltate and octopus carpaccio are both musts, and the osso buco and cioppino are lovely entrees, too. Just make sure you save enough space for the limoncello mascarpone cake and an espresso at the end." - meg van huygen

"This brick-lined Italian bistro in Ruston recently reopened for indoor dining. Don’t miss the steamer clams with a round of cocktails, or consider one of their hearty pastas or pizzas." - team infatuation

We did not have a reservation so we dined in the bar. A small intimate setting with a few tables. Bartender was friendly but seemed a little overwhelmed and in need of an extra set of hands. The mushroom ravioli special was delightful and I highly recommend the burrata set. For a last minute dinner decision not a bad choice for a good meal.

Excellent service. The food was so good. From the appetizers to the main course to the dessert, I was very impressed. The tables are a tad too close together in my opinion, and honestly the prices were too high. With only street parking available you may find yourself driving around for a bit trying to find a spot. Dust off your parallel parking skills! For a splurge from time to time, I'd say it was worth it.

Absolutely the best service I have ever received. The food was so delicious. The starters or appetizers were pretty large sized as we were a party of 3 and had plenty to go around. We all got full of the appetizers. The main course meal was absolutely the best Italian I’ve had. Don’t forget to order a cocktail! Also- the restaurant is kid friendly and has a changing table which is amazing.

Ok, I read the reviews and seen many that said the service was slow. We showed up at 2 minutes past our reservation and were seated immediately and giving water and a menu with the promise of a special drink menu to follow, which never showed up. 28 minutes later we were finally addressed by our youngish server whom apologize for our wait. Unfortunately, we were extremely hungry and thirsty and we're a little hangry, but she worked us though that. We did get our cocktails and calamari appetizers fairly quickly which was appreciated. We came because they had Osso Boca on the menu, but at 530p they were out, which very much disappointed my wife, and I, but we soldered through that and she had the rack of lamb, which she said was amazing. I had lasagna which was very delicious. We finished with a nice tiramisu and coffee. They have a great wine list and it appears you can bring your own probably at a cockage fee. Overall we had a good time, the beginning wait kinda put a bad taste in our mouth. I did watch other tables as they were seated and didn't see anyone wait nearly as long as us. We'll probably try this place again.

I highly recommend this restaurant. I ordered pappardelle bolognese and let me tell you what, it was sublime. The taste and the quality of the food made me feel like the chef made this dish specifically for me and me only. Never mind how busy the restaurant was and all of the tables were probably booked until closing. If I were at an Italian family gathering , I would have had two to three helpings for sure. For desert I had the house made tiramisu. It was recommended by the waiter staff. I have had tiramisu where it has been frozen before and it would be water logged and tasted watered down. But not here, I would recommend everyone to try their house made tiramisu. I highly recommend this restaurant. You would not be disappointed.

Impeccable Italian cuisine right near Pt. Defiance, their Osso Bucco is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten! I will be returning no doubt

I was treated to an early birthday dinner at Macaluso's for the first time. I loved the food, atmosphere, and service. The restaurant is small and very busy, and reservations are highly recommended. I've dined in Italy, and Macaluso's has the feel of an Italian restaurant. One of the things that stood out for me is at the end of my meal our waiter gave me a birthday card that contained a birthday message, with a coupon, and was signed by some of the staff. I've never experienced this, so it was a very nice personal touch. I look forward to dining here in the future.
