On the Grid : Dosa Factory

"Upon first glance, Dosa Factory may seem like an Indian grocery store, but walk through the aisles of spices and past the bags of basmati and you’ll find your spot to grab a quick dosa." - Intrepid

Best Indian Food in Boston | Eater Boston

"Madras Dosa Co., which has locations in the Seaport and Harvard Square, specializes in customizable dosas made from fermented rice and urad dal batter, which creates a crispy exterior and soft interior. You can choose from options like the classic plain dosa, masala dosa with spiced potatoes, or the thinner, crispier paper dosa, with sides such as sambar, coconut chutney, and ginger chutney. The fillings range from traditional potato and onion to more creative options like chips, fruit, chocolate chips, and Nutella. (The same team behind Madras Dosa Co. is also behind downtown’s Vaanga, where you can find quirky dishes like samosa burgers and “not the boring” idly with coconut chutney.)" - Helena Mistry

Best Boston Restaurants for Takeout and Delivery | Eater Boston

"At Madras, the namesake dosas come large, crispy, and filled to the brim with pick-your-own stuffings like spicy potatoes, paneer, and a crunchy sprinkling of Lays. Each dosa arrives with three sauces on the side: coconut chutney, ginger chutney, and sambar. There’s also paniyaram (pan-roasted dumplings made with rice and lentils), idly (steamed rice and lentil cakes), and a variety of chaat to round out each order. There’s a second location in Harvard Square, too." - Erika Adams

Boston’s Best Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurants | Eater Boston

"Gigantic dosas are the move at this casual, counter-service spot in the Seaport and Harvard Square. There’s a wide variety of veggie options — spicy potatoes, green chiles, and Lays potato chips, to name a few — and each dosa comes custom-stuffed with however many fillings you want." - Nathan Tavares

Madras Dosa Co. Fast-Casual Restaurant Opens in Boston’s Seaport District - Eater Boston

"Madras Dosa Co. is now open in Boston’s Seaport District (55 Boston Wharf Rd.), featuring south Indian food. The namesake food, dosa, is the star; the menu offers nearly 30 customizable varieties of the thin crepe, which is made from a vegan, gluten-free batter of fermented rice and lentils. Many of the available fillings, too, are vegan or vegetarian and/or gluten-free, although there are a few meat options, too. Madras’s dosa fillings include both savory (spicy potatoes, onions, Lay’s chips, lamb) and sweet (chocolate chips, fruits, malt, ice cream). The fast-casual restaurant, which has an open kitchen, also serves idli — fluffy, steamed rice and lentil cakes made from a similar but thicker batter than dosas; sandwiches, including a ghee grilled cheese; and, in a nod to Indian cuisines farther north, a variety of chaat. The drink selection goes a bit beyond many local Indian restaurants: There’s the ubiquitous mango lassi, of course, but there’s also a masala lassi, Indian soft drinks Limca and Thums Up, and more. Madras Dosa Co. is from the team behind Godavari, a growing chain of South Indian restaurants with locations around the United States, plus one in Canada, with European and Middle Eastern locations coming up next. Locally, there’s one in Woburn. (A few years back, there was very briefly a related restaurant called Godavari Mini in Somerville, too.) The same team also operates Khiladi NYC in New York’s East Village, which is aiming to bring dabba lunch service into the mainstream in the city. While dosa is typically a breakfast food in its homeland, in the United States it’s become the most visible dish of south Indian cuisine and tends to be served as a lunch or dinner entree. Madras Dosa Co. is open for lunch and dinner daily, with seating onsite as well as takeout and delivery." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Unfortunately, most Indian restaurants in Boston fall short when it comes to authentic flavors. After trying seven different places, I finally ordered from Madras Dosa Company—and was genuinely impressed. The food was not only delicious and authentic but also prepared with excellent hygiene. I loved their smart packaging as well ! Full marks for quality! I ended up ordering several more times during my stay. My colleagues from different countries too ordered it on my recommendation and were super impressed. Well done, team. Proud of you. Keep it up!

You won't miss Dosa while in Boston. Reaching Boston at night 11pm and looking for options to eat, found this restaurant serving Dosa and ordered. The food delivered was surprising for the taste and the way they packed Dosa. It was a bit soggy but tasty. With very limited seating, it offers comfy food. The restaurant specializes in Dosas and Chaats, and the food is absolutely delicious. What stood out the most was watching the dosas being freshly prepared right in front of us. I especially loved the Upma Dosa — it was my first time trying this combination, and it was yummy. The staff were extremely courteous and welcoming, adding to the pleasant dining atmosphere. The filter coffee, although machine-dispensed, was surprisingly good — a bit on the sweeter side, which I personally enjoyed. I loved the food so much that I ended up visiting three times during my four-day stay. Highly recommend this place.

So I ordered pick up from here. I got a dosa and some soma chaat. They essentially ask you to design your own dosa, and I blame myself a bit as one of the options was cheese and corn, of which I added onions, potatoes, and veggies. It was good, but not very spicy or flavorful and I feel like the cheese may have been to blame. At the same time it was scrumptious and decent. (If overpriced). The chaat was strangely sweet and again lacked the kind of heat I really look for in Indian food. That being said, for the only option in the sea port district I’ll happily eat there again.

Ordered a chicken dosa and costed $14. Definitely delicious and there was a lot of chicken stuffed in there. Lot of quality food and the people making the food were really nice. The tables were always full though and quite dirty. We had to wait 10-15 mins to find a seat.

Extreme disappointment - My idli were microwaved. I was extremely excited to come here for fresh idli and instead of them coming out of a steamer, I saw the employee place them into the microwave before handing them to me. They were fine, but I'll be back for a dosa instead. Also, it's odd to serve food you eat with your hands and not have a sink available! The bathroom says staff only.

Alright let me drop the bummer, the place charge non cash fee that too 4% and don’t even inform the guest properly and they have no pamphlets or no disclosure anywhere to inform the guest about it. Really disappointing as it makes you feel cheated or scammed. After asking about it they were blank and had no answer to it. Management should take appropriate action to inform the guest properly.

Good place to have south Indian food, they serve good crisp dosa however not the best. Overall vibe is neat and clean, food they serve taste good. They do not have a rest room, this is definitely a miss. Mango lassi and coconut chutney are simply yum.

For reference my family is Tamilian, so our opinions on dosa are well earned. First off $11 for a plain dosa on a nonstick pan that wont even make it a structurally strong dosa that can house its fillings reliably is ridiculous. $3 for every topping is also ridiculous. Basically making sure that any order you make will come up to $20-$25 dollars. On top of this, they do not serve water which seems entirely unnecessary, after overspending on over spicedfood, charging for water bottles left a terrible taste in our mouth, much like their paneer add on - which is a shade of pale yellow Ive only ever seen on discontinued F21 dresses. Now the good: Rasam was really nice, Their north indian food like pav bhaaji and chaats were definitely better than their south indian options, Service is fast
