"Gigantic dosas are the move at this casual, counter-service spot in the Seaport and Harvard Square. There’s a wide variety of veggie options — spicy potatoes, green chiles, and Lays potato chips, to name a few — and each dosa comes custom-stuffed with however many fillings you want." - Nathan Tavares, Celina Colby, Megan Hennessey, Eater Staff

"Customizable dosas are the draw at Madras Dosa Co., a shiny, relatively new Seaport spot focused on the wildly popular South Indian specialty made from a vegan, gluten-free batter of fermented rice and lentils. If there’s a line, plant yourself, because it’s worth the wait to fill a thin, golden-brown crepe with a wide variety of sweet and savory stuffings, from onion, ghee, and Lay’s chips to fruits, chocolate chips, and Nutella. (The same team is also behind downtown’s Vaanga, serving unexpected dishes like samosa burgers and “not the boring” idly with coconut chutney.)" - Karen Wilber, Eater Staff

"Madras Dosa Co. is now open in Boston’s Seaport District (55 Boston Wharf Rd.), featuring south Indian food. The namesake food, dosa, is the star; the menu offers nearly 30 customizable varieties of the thin crepe, which is made from a vegan, gluten-free batter of fermented rice and lentils. Many of the available fillings, too, are vegan or vegetarian and/or gluten-free, although there are a few meat options, too. Madras’s dosa fillings include both savory (spicy potatoes, onions, Lay’s chips, lamb) and sweet (chocolate chips, fruits, malt, ice cream). The fast-casual restaurant, which has an open kitchen, also serves idli — fluffy, steamed rice and lentil cakes made from a similar but thicker batter than dosas; sandwiches, including a ghee grilled cheese; and, in a nod to Indian cuisines farther north, a variety of chaat. The drink selection goes a bit beyond many local Indian restaurants: There’s the ubiquitous mango lassi, of course, but there’s also a masala lassi, Indian soft drinks Limca and Thums Up, and more. Madras Dosa Co. is from the team behind Godavari, a growing chain of South Indian restaurants with locations around the United States, plus one in Canada, with European and Middle Eastern locations coming up next. Locally, there’s one in Woburn. (A few years back, there was very briefly a related restaurant called Godavari Mini in Somerville, too.) The same team also operates Khiladi NYC in New York’s East Village, which is aiming to bring dabba lunch service into the mainstream in the city. While dosa is typically a breakfast food in its homeland, in the United States it’s become the most visible dish of south Indian cuisine and tends to be served as a lunch or dinner entree. Madras Dosa Co. is open for lunch and dinner daily, with seating onsite as well as takeout and delivery." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

I was visiting from Texas with my girls and absolutely enjoyed the food at this place. We tried dosa with potato filling, idli with sambhar, masala chai, sweet pan. The food was absolutely delicious and finger licking. Love the ambiance of the place and the Bollywood songs that they were playing. Service was quick too.

Great relief to cherish the Dosas in our long USA trip. Panneer dosa was our favourite...Portion size good....Idli was little hard and could have been better. Chats also good tasty. Staff were attentive and helpful. Only thing - dining space is little small with few tables and that too very close....At some time, it is very crowded. Overall, nice...nice

We got 2 samosas, chai, and samosa chaat. It was really really good, especially the chai. The seating was very nice both indoors and outdoors. Outside, there are 3 swings and different tables to eat at. The decor inside was very good and the wait time was minimal. The food was delicious!! Perfect for Indian snack and meal too!!

It is a small restaurant with a fast casual vibe with a variety of fillings for dosa. Masala Dosa was not the crispiest or thinnest as it is supposed to be but it tasted good. The Sambar was ok but the coconut chutney was amazing. Just felt like the chutney portion and sambar portion were too small compared to dosa or a plate of Idly. We went on Friday afternoon for lunch and it was crowded as their is limited seating inside the restaurant. Overall, not the best but if you are craving South Indian food then it's good enough to satisfy your taste buds. Disclaimer - they don't serve uttapam or medu vada on their menu.

We ordered chaat, it was great !! Ig this is a great place if you are craving for dahi kinda chaat in Boston. I personally loved the Papdi chaat & Dahi puri. Pav Bhaji was average, it’s not the original taste. The keema pao was okay as well.

Good place to have south Indian food, they serve good crisp dosa however not the best. Overall vibe is neat and clean, food they serve taste good. They do not have a rest room, this is definitely a miss. Mango lassi and coconut chutney are simply yum.

It was my first visit from Canada to Boston. I went there as i was craving for indian food and since it was a make yourself one , I chose chillies on top of potatoes. I want some chilli in masala and I dont like just mashed potatoes. Here is the picture of the amount of Chillies they added. And the fact that they charge 11 dollars just for plain dosa is crazy. Really bad experience

Delicious South Indian food and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The menu is traditional but presented in a very clear, accessible way.
