"Open as of Tuesday, February 18, Parisian-inspired patisserie and tea salon Maison Danel promises a very French brunch menu of croques, salads, and dishes like ouef cocotte (eggs baked with cream and cheese) and, of course, their impressive roster of baked goods, including croissants, brioche, and turnovers." - Luke Tsai, Caleb Pershan, Eve Batey

"After four years at 1030 Polk Street, French patisserie Maison Danel has closed, Tablehopper reports. The restaurant opened in February 2020 just before the pandemic shutdowns in March, but now it looks like reservations are closed and the phone line has been turned off." - Dianne de Guzman

"The swanky French tea room and patisserie in Lower Nob Hill smells like a croissant-scented air freshener at all times. Prepare to consume infinite sticks of butter. Or more realistically, a decadent ham and cheese croissant that’s warm and melty. Tea time under ornate chandeliers ($70 per person, and $295 for two with caviar service) involves a higher ratio of sweet to savory, so you’ll have a great time at Maison Danel if you bug out at the phrase “flaky, buttery pastry.” Miniature cakes, delicate macarons, chocolate twists (and those croissants) are stacked on tiered towers. They also have an abridged kids afternoon tea option ($38) with hot chocolate. " - ricky rodriguez, julia chen 1, lani conway

"Maison Danel, the sparkly patisserie and tea salon, had a rough opening during the pandemic, but it’s now fully open and serving afternoon tea under a big chandelier. Husband-and-husband team Danel and David de Betelu are also boxing up afternoon tea service for takeout, if you prefer to bring the tea experience home or to a park, and it includes petite croissant sandwiches, plus macarons, and other sweets." - Paolo Bicchieri, Eater Staff
