"It’s easy to get lost in the Mexican food wonderland of Mercado González. Certainly spend an hour or so perusing the puestos and nibbling on choice morsels, but eventually head to Maizano for a proper sit-down meal. As the only full-service experience in the sprawling emporium, Maizano serves regional plates from the Mexican states of Yucatán, Puebla, and Oaxaca, focusing on the magic of masa. Every dish under chef Alan Sanz’s watch is thoughtfully composed and highly shareable, including the chicharron del parque with blue fin tuna and the silky mole blanco with broccolini, chayote, and sprinkling of grasshoppers." - Eater Staff

My first time here! We met for an early dinner on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant is within the Northgate Market, but does have its own entrance as well. The service was amazing, our server had great recommendations and his timing with our food and check-ins was impeccable. Our meals were fresh and delicious, we had the octopus and the branzino, cooked to perfection 🙏

Google
The summer tasting menu was fantastic. The dishes were beautifully plated and delicious. We really appreciated that there was a non-alcoholic pairing to go with the tasting menu. The non-alcoholic cocktails were refreshing and really fun to drink. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, giving explanations of each dish and drink when served. The chef checked in on us during our meal more than once. He is gracious and his talent and hospitality shine. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.

Google
The food here is ok. Wasn’t too impressed. But it was the only place you could find a place to sit. North gate is packed!!!

Google
The drinks were incredible and the food presentation and taste was delicious! Definitely returning. 10/10

Google
A fine dining restaurant with exceptional cuisine. The Chef's tasting menu is outstanding, on the level of some of the best restaurants in Mexico City! Highly recommend to those that appreciate creative dishes with highly developed flavors prepared with fresh ingredients.

Google
Food is amazing. I suggest doing the pairing. Chef Alan came out and told us what each dish was. I was blown away by each one. They source the products from Mexico, so it's very authentic. I have a gluten allergy and tried products that have gluten in them and have not had an issue when coming here. Very very good. Must try!

Google
I’ve had some great meals here and some completely flavorless very expensive meals. Cocktails are very good but sometimes you just wish you had street tacos and saved 200 dollars. Cocktails, appetizers and the lunch menu is generally good.

Google
Maizano Restaurant exceeded all of my expectations! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a vibrant atmosphere. The menu offered a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes, each bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. Chef Alan is a genius!

Yelp
Where do I begin?! I completely underestimated and didn't think much of this place until the waitress arrived. Wow. So much great energy. She knew the menu and drinks inside and out. Then the food arrived. I was blown away. Not what I expected AT ALL! The bransino, the aguachile negro, the asada, the chicken---we were all blown away with how delicious it was. Be careful with the chile serranos. The mixed drinks were toe curling and the agua fresca pickled pear (tunas) was thirst quenching. Will absolutely go back.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Tucked in the corner of a complete madhouse of a market (but in the best kind of crazy way). Yucatán forward flavors. Simple ingredients done impeccably. We came around 12 on a Sunday so the menu was brunch-esque. Had 3 different appetizers and 2 entrees. The bread on the torta was the softest bread I have ever had, the cochinita on the torta had really good flavor. Presentation was nice. Salsa macha was my favorite of the 3 we salsas we tried. Everything we ordered was a harmonious marriage of rich flavors that did not over power any other flavor. Even the black beans were yummy. Service was attentive and super friendly. Decor was nice, even outside. We loved everything about this place except the parking which I would not blame them for at all. Well done. I would say bib gourmand worthy for sure, maybe even one Michelin star.

Yelp
I like Maizano. Our party arrived at the Northgate Gonzalez Market an hour before our dinner reservation. We asked if we could be seated and were shown to a table. The entrees we had were excellent. I had the PIPIÁN VERDE. It was very tender and moist. I would recommend it. The portion was more than I wanted to eat so I took the remainder of the dish home with me. When we sat down for dinner on a Saturday night, the restaurant was not crowded at 6:00. But by 6:45, most/all of the tables were taken. Since the Northgate Mercado is in a strip mall, there are plenty of parking spaces, but still the majority of them were taken when we were there. I recommend you first eat dinner and then walk around all the stalls for food. I could easily spend an hour viewing all the food options in the mercado.

Joy B.

Yelp
Excellent service and delicious food!!!! This restaurant is located inside Northgate. We didn't have reservations, but I recommend making one because the restaurant is small. We sat in the patio, which is covered and has heaters. The interior designer did an excellent job with the decor that you do forget that the restaurant is inside the grocery store. Complimentary chips and salsa were provided while we waited. Our server provided excellent service and even recommended some of his favorite dishes. He even took the time to educate us on which dishes were spicy. The Flautas Ahogadads are served with consome. The meat was super tender and the consome was much needed on a cold rainy day. 10/10 The Torta de Cochinita was delicious and spicy. The menu stated that the bread was bolillo, however, our server informed us that it is now ciabatta bread. Super flavorful and the meat was tender. 10/10 The Pipián Verde is served with rice and 4 tortillas. The mole sauce was perfection and savory. The chicken was fire grilled (I think) and very tender. 10/10 Drinks: Popu y Encuerado - 8/10 Impala Margarita - 10/10 Mexican Firing Squad - 10/10 Agua de limon 8/10 Chilate "Horchata" 10/10 I can definitely agree that the price point for the dishes are pretty high up but the portion and presentation is what justified the prices....in my opinion. 4 stars ONLY BECAUSE there isn't a kids menu. Coming back soon!

Victoria P.

Yelp
Giving this 3 stars when it comes to pricing and quality compared to other Mexican fine dining spots in Orange County. Due to this restaurant being located in the north gate Mercado grocery store, I was not expecting pricing of 40+ for simple entrees. I think the appetizers and snacks were priced better, but wouldn't be enough to make a meal out of. I was really shocked at the lobster enchiladas being priced $55. This is more than a Javier's, red O and Palenque. The entree had very little lobster and a ton of onions and tomatoes. It all just overpowered the dish and was underwhelming. As for snacks and apps I did enjoy the empanadas . They were $18 for 2 and had ahi tuna in them, which seemed unique. Despite the high pricing the service was great. I would probably only come in here if you want an intimate candle lit bar experience.

Yelp
We went to check out Mercado Gonzalez. It was so busy, we decided to try this restaurant that's located within the Mercado. We sat outside in the patio area . The decor was casual, relaxing. Our server was extremely kind and attentive. We ordered the mole chilaquiles and the flautas ahogadas. This I will say, if you like mole you have to try. Both dishes were delicious. Definitely coming back and bringing friends to enjoy their food. Highly recommend. Almost forgot, they gave us bean and cheese tacos with salsa (instead of chips like ever other place) as appetizers. They were good.

Veronica G.

Yelp
Auténtico y especial sabor Mexicano, súper riquísimo, el ambiente es muy tranquilo y armonioso, los meseros muy amables y atentos. Venimos a celebrar el día de las madres!

Shawn J.

Yelp
We were visiting Southern California again and we had to come back to Maizano because our first experience here was amazing. Unfortunately, our second visit was a big letdown. The food was not nearly as delicious as the first time. For my entree I ordered the pork dish which had very little flavor and no sides. The rest of my party was also disappointed in the flavor of the food. They ordered the chicken dish and the steak. Our appetizers were delicious and fresh. The service was good except they seemed to not check in on us often and I had to waive them down. They also forgot to bring an item we ordered. Every restaurant has their off day so perhaps this was just that. I'd still recommend trying the restaurant out if you haven't. I know it's relatively a new restaurant so maybe they need to work on some things. With such a big food scene in Orange County I do not know if I will be returning anytime soon in my travels. Hopefully, when I do visit this restaurant again it will be an outstanding experience like the first visit.

Yelp
Got plans this weekend? I recommend you head to Maizano. We made it a twofer and went to Maizano's for dinner then took ourselves on a little tour of Mercado Northgate (connected to the restaurant). At Maizano we did a Chef's tasting allowing Chef Alan Sanz to bring out whatever dishes he chose. The restaurant has an elevated menu featuring flavors & dishes from Oaxaca, Mexico City and Yucatan. We went early enough that Chef Alan was able to join us a bit to talk about the flavors and the history of his recipes and ingredients he uses. The flavors and ingredients are more elevated than a traditional Mexican restaurant. During the day the restaurant has a comfortable vibe, lots of natural light and lots of seating. There's seating in the main dining room, outdoor seating, seating overlooking the kitchen and seating at the bar. You can literally sit anywhere in the restaurant. The restaurant definitely has a more intimate vibe in the evening and can get pretty crowded. We also tried a handful of cocktails from Margaritas to espresso martinis to agua frescas. All were delicious and refreshing and went great with the dishes brought out. One dessert I highly recommend is the Tres Leches de Carajillo with a drizzle of Liquor 43. I'm not even a fan of Tres Leches but this one I really liked. Pretty sure the Liquor 43 had something to do with it. Dishes we tried: *Chicharrón del Parque *Panuchos *Pipian Verde *Taco De Quesillo Even though the restaurant is attached to the Northgate market, it doesn't feel like you are anywhere near a market. You can access Maizano's from the street or from inside the market through a very large revolving beautiful glass door. There's lots of parking for the restaurant in the Northgate Market parking lot.

Hannah K.

Yelp
I went to Maizano for Valentine's Day. This place is a hidden gem inside the bustling Northgate market. It's a cozy yet upscale ambiance. The attention to detail in every aspect of the restaurant, from the decor to the presentation of the food, is impressive. Each dish is a work of art. The cocktails are as delicious as they are creative. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond to ensure you have a memorable dining experience. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Excellent elevated Mexican food and drinks with good service--for a price. My friends Dan H and Maggie G wanted to check out this fancy sit-down restaurant within the Mercado Gonzalez and I was game to join them! We made reservations for 6:30 pm on a Friday night (they ask for a credit card and will charge you $20 for cancellation) and arrived a bit early and got promptly seated. The dining room is cozy, with a long bar on one side and the glassed-in kitchen visible on the other, with smallish round tables between. The ambiance is modern but warm, with rich brown tones throughout. The dining room never got filled to capacity while we were there, which made for a lively but not crazy-loud experience. I have a feeling it gets more crowded as the night goes on (after the old folks have gone, lol). We were ready to wet our whistles and I ordered their Clean Martini (indeed very clean-tasting, with cute little cubes of pickled nopales as garnish), and the others ordered the Mexican Firing Squad cocktail and a glass of red wine from Baja with "bastardo" in the name--we all enjoyed our drinks. For food, we shared: - PESCADILLA (Fried corn empanada smoked tuna sofrito, sour cream, lime sauce) delicately crunchy and plump--definitely dab on the accompanying lime jalapeno sauce and crema for full effect. - AGUACHILE NEGRO (Blue shrimp, recaudo negro, lime, onion, cucumber, avocado) 6 plump shrimps in an amazing negro sauce--spicy! - PULPO ENCACAHUATADO (Octopus, peanut red mole, Mexican squash) Amazingly tender octopus and delectable sauce served with warm corn tortillas--excellent. - PANUCHOS (Fried tortilla, cochinita pibil, refried beans, pickled onions with habanero chili) I opted not to partake in this dish, as it has pork, but my friends liked it - TRES LECHES DE CARAJILLO (Moist milk cake, Licor 43, coffee) The server poured the coffee liqueur over the cake after bringing it to the table. We were all blown away by how good this was, and asked for spoons so we could scoop up the sauce not absorbed by the cake. The service was solicitous throughout, with a main server attending to most of our needs, but some other servers coming over for some other things and causing a bit of confusion at times. They seemed like they were still working things out on this end, but overall we thought it was fine. The chef came out to ask us how things were, and seemed genuinely touched when we expressed how much we were enjoying ourselves. It's a little spendy, but we felt it was a good value for the quality and portions, which were decent for a higher-end restaurant. My friends and I agreed that we'd be down to return for another special treat night out.

Kenneth R.

Yelp
I went with a friend to check out this new "high end" sit-down restaurant in the mercado. Because of the novelty of the place and thew crowds that have descended on the mercado, we felt lucky to have snagged a reservation here. When we arrived (around 6:15 on a weeknight), we were amazed to discover that Maizano was quasi-deserted, even though the outside area was packed with shoppers and diners of all ages, ethnicities and walks of life. We sat at a quiet two-top and weren't near any other diners. We had a wonderful experience talking quietly and catching up; that wouldn't have been so easy had Maizano been crowded. The drink menu had a bunch of cocktails and some wines by the glass. To my surprise, there was only a single beer on the menu -- a can of Monopolio Lager ($7). The beer was fine, but I would have preferred a draft beer from a local brewery. There's an adjacent bar (Entre Nos) that presumably serves lots of alcoholic beverages. Moreover, the bar is part of the same operation as the restaurant. I have no idea why there aren't tons of drink options for diners at the tables. Entre nos, I hope that they fix this quickly. Our server was eager to please but seemed a but clueless both about table service and about the food on the menu. That was not a problem because we had phones with search engines. We ended up ordering two starters (the Molotes de Platano and the Tlacoyo). We liked both and thought that they were good choices. When the starters came, we were served a complimentary portion of Sikil Pak; this might have been the best thing on the table before our main dish arrived. That main dish was the Pulpo Encacahuatado ($40); again, it was great! We had some room for dessert and got the Nicuatole ($13). It had a subtle taste and was worth trying -- I glad that we ordered it. This restaurant is way more expensive than the stalls just outside the revolving door; we paid over $120 (including tax and tip) for one beer, two appetizers, one main dish and one dessert. The inside is for a somewhat luxurious, quiet experience; the outside is a raucous explosion. I'm not sure that I'd agree with the reviewer(s) who wrote that the prices are high and the portions small, but it's clear that coming here is not a great bargain. Maizano could use a bit of lightening up. When we arrived, we were greeted by a staff member at the podium, who directed us to take the revolving door into the restaurant but then used the simple non-revolving door behind her to meet us inside. It would have been more straightforward if the three of us had gone in together. The wait staff behaved as though they were actors in a play but hadn't fully learned the script. One imagines that the restaurant will get things straightened out in the coming week.

Ted S.

Yelp
I have yet to eat at Maizano, but I did get a chance to try two of their cocktails this weekend. I really liked the vibe of the bar, and the bartenders were friendly and interesting guys. We asked for recommendations on beverages, and the suggestions were the Mexican firing squad, and a mezcal negroni drink that wasn't on the menu yet. Both were delicious.

Fel E.

Yelp
The service is the only thing good here , they try to make this place all fancy , high prices and you get big disappointment not only lack of flavor but the portions are super small , definitely you better off with the food in the Mercado , is way better in all aspects

Savannah D.

Yelp
This place is a little hidden gem! The food & drinks are delicious! The impala drink was amazing. The Cesar salad and carne asada were my favorite food items I tried! There was a crust and smokey flavor on the meat, and it was so good! Also, our server Ronin was the best! So sweet and attentive! We were definitely well taken care of!

Nerina E.

Yelp
This place feels really cozy and special. You start by walking through the Mercado and all the noise and hustle of the food court. Then, off to the side, you see an unassuming revolving door and a hostess stand. Once you're in the door, though, the noise is muted, light music is playing, and the the ambiance is romantic. They brought us chips and salsa while we waited for our main courses. The salsa though, is not your typical red salsa. Instead, it's pine nuts, roasted pumpkin seeds, cilantro, Chile's, and tomatoes. Refreshing, light, and a slight kick. Definitely a new favorite. The menu is honestly not large, but what they do have is a specially in every bite. We ordered the Gordita de Pulpo, the Chuleta de Cerdo, and the Carne Asada. All I can say is that everything was delicious, very well flavored, and spicy! Their sauces, in general are different and delicious, knowing that the cuisine is from Yucatan, I'm not surprised!

Aurora M.

Yelp
The ambiance here is always great, very inviting and friendly. The quality and presentation of the food offerings is outstanding. Every dish in their menu is so unique and delicious. Chef Alan pays very close attention to detail in his creations: they are visually beautiful and full of flavor. My experience at Maizano exceeded my expectations. I was completely impressed with their service. Their staff is not only friendly but also very knowledgeable about their menu. Will definitely be returning soon.

Cecilia B.

Yelp
Just opened so I think they are still working out a few things but we loved what we ate and the restaurant design is beautiful. I will definitely be back.

Sam G.

Yelp
Had my small intimate bridal shower here! The staff was Amazing! So engaging and attentive. The food was Excellent! And cocktails were superb as well. We had a pleasant evening! And 10/10 would come back!

Suz T.

Yelp
I didn't know I liked octopus until this place. elegant Mexican dishes. A bit pricey but they use the best ingredients

Barry S.

Yelp
Fantastic food! Creator of food that is both Authentic and Special, chef Alan is a wizard. I had the Pibil before and the chicken today. Both were exquisite! The service was exemplary, the drinks were very tasty, and I felt that I was in a very posh restaurant in Guadalajara. We had tres leeches for dessert, and I swear I'm addicted! We will be back often!

Dianne R.

Yelp
The food is so good. Excellent quality. The favors were exquisite. The wait staff is very friendly and willing to explain the menu choices.

Matt H.

Yelp
Popped into the bar to have a mezcal margarita while I was eating lunch. Service was slow, and if I had to guess, it was a 1 oz pour, it just didn't seem overly strong. The cocktail was just OK, not one I would be jonesing for down the road.

Ernest R.

Yelp
We celebrated our 31st Wedding Anniversary tonight and it was "heavenly." No complaints at all. the service, the drinks, the atmosphere, and the food/flavors! EXCELLENT! Talking with the server, the mgr, and the chef was great and informative. I could not have picked a better place to celebrate with my wife. THANK YOU all for such a memorable and wonderful evening. Unforgettable. Can't wait to bring our friends and share the awesome experience.

Emilio M.

Yelp
Amazing Mexican experience, food was amazing. I recommend the lobster enchiladas. The cocktails and tequila list is the best I've ever seen

Jill F.

Yelp
Well, this review isn't about the exceptional service by the servers and polite bartenders along with the decent food prepared by the kitchen staff rather I have decided to write this review because on two different occasions my experience was ruined by two people who I'm assuming are part of management. I taught art in the mid nineties in the Oaxaca area of Mexico and was delighted to hear of a new restaurant opening close to home that caters to a more "authentic" menu. On my first visit I sat at the bar and was greeted by the gentleman behind the bar - he was fun to talk with. While speaking we were interrupted by a man in a blue sports coat. He carried in on the conversation and began gloating about his experience ( something about conquering New York ) or who knows. When I asked who he was, his response was that he's the "big boss." Well, his ego wasn't as upsetting as the fact that he smelled like a mezcal factory. Anyways, after his self bravado, off he walked away. We, along with the bartender all looked at each other and just smirked. About one month later, some colleagues insisted on visiting and I warned them about the big boss. Thankfully, he was not there but, now we got to meet the bar manager - I think his name Brendan. Oh boy - I have never heard someone use the word science so much in conversation. He began to "educate" us about his menu, which we didn't even ask for. I was also introduced to a new phrase by our scientist - "elevated dining." This term is coming from a man wearing a backwards hat at work. I mean cmon - when people want to pay high prices for food that isn't really worth the price - we're in fact paying for an experience. The hostess/staff and bartender were great and I think management should take a note from and learn what hospitality truly is. Good luck to the "big boss" and the science fellow - talk is cheap guys and so was your behavior.

Liz A.

Yelp
This is a small restaurant that gives hipster vibes. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the prices are outrageous! Like if you want to eat next to a grocery store, have no views, little seating, loud music, and overpriced food. This place is it. The food is definitely delicious, but nothing out of the ordinary. It feels like it was designed to target a certain kind of people/demographic... leaving it at that. This was a one and done for me.

Elijah W.

Yelp
Dined in for a Valentines Day dinner and it was amazing. Although it's in the lively Northgate Mercado, you walk into the revolving doors to be transported to a dim lit, decorated and musically synthesized restaurant that'd remind you of a fine dining Mexico City restaurant. Every dish is played with conscious beauty and just as much flavor. We were introduced with the pescadilla and fed courses that was special for the Valentine experience. I'm sure the regular menu item are just as amazing and the drinks on point and made to savor because they are pleasantly strong. If you are a mezcal fan, go with the Mexican firing squad cocktail. Thank you chef Sanz- cheers!

Andy C.

Yelp
Service was amazing! Food could use a bit more variety in the flavor but overall it met our expectations. This place draws inspiration from Yucatán and Oaxacan cuisine.

Janet P.

Yelp
Absolutely excellent drinks here! The bartender Alexis (I think, sorry, I'm terrible at remembering names!) is truly a master of his craft and cares deeply about it. He introduced my boyfriend and me to Mexican spirit brands that you can't find at the big liquor stores. Every cocktail we had was delicious and refreshing, especially the gin-based ones. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back for more!

Alex Z.

Yelp
I remember at the beginning back in November and December, this place used to be amazing. So much has changed in less than a year. The menu has changed multiple times. There's always new employees which isn't a good sign. I don't know. It just seems to be going downwards more and more every time i visit

D S.

Yelp
Appetizers through the desserts were delicious! I started off with Panuchos (must have) Next, I had the chicharron del parque (HOLY MOLY) get two of these babies(you'll thank me later) Las enchiladas de langosta were phenomenal. The drinks and postre were AMAZING! Overall 10/10 - amazing food & staff! Shout out to the Chefs (ABL) and the Bar Manager Thank you!

Jeremy H.

Yelp
The dinner menu was small but mighty. Now their lunch menu is even better. Excellent service, plating, ingredients, and flavors - truly connoisseur-quality Mexican food.

Lenny L.

Yelp
This is the high end Mexican restaurant inside Northgate. Decided to have a birthday dinner here and reserved in Open Table. The place looks modern and contemporary. We got seated where the next table is right next to each other which feels like I was part of the next table's conversation. It seems also loud acoustics, hard to carry a conversation where we were seated. We were given a drink menu and took a while to get a food menu. The food menu was also delayed being given to the other tables. It's almost like you have to order a drink first before they give you a food menu. Anyway, we ordered 3 starters, which are small servings, molotes de plantanos, Panuchos, Gordito de pulpos. I liked the plantanos over the others. The Gordito de pulpo has more masa than pulpo. I probably wouldn't order that again. We shared the pipian Verde which is a chicken breast with green pepita sauce. Chicken was moist and the green sauce was good too and not spicy. The service was friendly but way too slow. I was not blown away with their food. And they know we were celebrating a birthday and this was never acknowledged. That was such a miss. I wish them well, but this is not a place I want to come back anytime soon. It's a high end Mexican restaurant and maybe my taste is more street food type. But, if you like a fancy restaurant maybe you can give this a try.

Tatiana V.

Yelp
Delicious food and drinks! The interior and ambiance is classy and has a high end feel. Highly recommend the Chicharron Del Parque, panuchos, and the Lobster Enchiladas!

Kathryn G.

Yelp
Visited for the first time today for brunch. Amazing! The service was exceptional, explanations of the menu offerings thorough, ambiance lovely. But the food was what stands out. Authentic and outstanding Mexican delights. I had flautas, my husband Huevos Rancheros. best we have ever had, including many experiences in Mexico. Strongly recommend a visit! Full bar and nice wine lis.

Anne J.

Yelp
So excited to finally check out Costa Mesa's new Mercado and Maizano restaurant located onsite. The food was really amazing and totally surprised by such a good wine option. Our new favorite place!

D O.

Yelp
Highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a date spot. Went with my hubby and were treated so well, as the staff is really attentive. The food is authentically Mexican with a delicious twist. Had some red wine, and it really topped off my meal. Ambiance is relaxing, and comfortable.

Vince L.

Yelp
Way too expensive for what it is. Service was very good but there are better choices

Phoebe K.

Yelp
Had the best time here... The food, ambiance and service were all impeccable. I felt super looked after and accommodated. I got the aguachile and octopus and they were to die for... Can't wait to be back!

Mike P.

Yelp
The only thing high end here was the prices. I had the catch of the day which ended up being a medium size fish with some salad on top and corn tortillas. No sides for $45??? My wife enjoyed her chicken breast and rice for $45. Service was a plus however, no complaints there. They served us well and promptly. The layout was nice and well set up but the place was pretty loud. This place was a one and done. Ended up going to McDonald's across the parking lot for $10 to get fed. If I want Mexican food I will stick with El Ranchito in Tustin. They actually feed you for a fair price.

Dan M.

Yelp
Great food and wonderful service! Definitely worth stepping in if you are at Northgate!

Vincent M.

Yelp
I walked into this restaurant without much planning or expectation. I was just in the mood for some upscale Mexican food. They happened to be located inside the Mercado Gonzales in Costa Mesa. It was a weeknight but was packed due to some large group celebration. But we got seated promptly at the bar. And this was actually a really good thing as we got served by an awesome waiter/bartender named Andy. He was very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Everything tasted great, even the blue corn bread was exceptional. The drinks were also very well mixed. We even got the steak on the house since they initially said they ran out but later on found out that they still have 1 left. Very nice of them to do that.

Yelp
The servings are very small. As long as you know going in that u will need to order multiple entrees to make a full meal you will be fine. The food tasted good but there are not many options for vegetables and the protein servings are very small.

Yelp
Tucked away in Mercado Northgate is a very unique restaurant that brings flavors with an explosion to your taste buds. The service , the presentation of dishes were over the top. First time there BUT not the last. The chef does this amazing stuffed Chili Picadillo that will blow your taste buds away. Come and enjoy as I did. The Octopus was fork tender with these ayocotes beans and smear of a peanut sauce that was so amazing. Try the shrimp appetizer that carries the freshness of these tiny lime pellets that pop in your mouth topped with fresh cucumber. Don't wait just come. GDC

Yelp
Food was amazing! My group and I really loved the fideo seco, but what really surprised me personally was the aguachile negro. You can get aguachile any where, but the spices used and quality of shrimps was yummy! Really wanted it only for myself! Thank you to Lita for being an awesome server as well!
