MAKE MY CAKE is a dessert oasis in Harlem Aaliyah gave me the best customer service I’ve EVER experienced! Friendly engaging & offering wonderful conversation. Now to the cakes & pies I got a red velvet cake that was moist & absolutely delicious! Key lime pie was divine. There’s a coffee shop next door I LIKE IT BLACK & even though it was closed Aaliyah made me an iced coffee from their special blend & it was rich ! I can’t wait to go back to try the Apple & peach cobbler

Make My Cake made my wife so happy! The 125th St location made her favorite strawberry cake for her 45th birthday. Placed the order the week before. Sent an email requesting the cake. Got a call less than an hour later. They asked for a deposit. I went ahead and paid in full over the phone. No issues. When I arrived at 11am for pickup, it was ready. They boxed it up carefully for me and offered a bag to carry it in. Cake tasted great! Nice spongy, fresh texture. Rich, dense buttercream, like a fondant. Very sweet and rich with fresh strawberries both embedded in the cream and decorated outside. Would happily order from them again! See you next year!!🥳

They are absolutely wonderful people! My friend and I stopped by for a cupcake as we made our long tip to tip walk of Manhattan. Not only were the cupcakes delicious, the hospitality was superb. The owner gave us free water bottles as we ate the cupcakes and was overly kind to us. (We only bought 2 cupcakes I might add). My favorite cupcake place by far.

Been loving Make My Cake since 2015. Went to a make My Cake Father’s Day event with my daughters loved loved it the original location 116th and st Nicolas Ave the to 97th and Broadway to the new 125th location with a lovely coffee shop connected. Also your sales clerk Lyric was outstanding and very pleasurable at the 125th location when I went to order the cake Dec 6th.

I purchased over $110 worth of pastries here last week and have been a frequent patron of Make my Cake since 2002. Today there were two patrons in the location at the register when I came in and was pregnant and one was not. A woman came in after me walked in front of me to place order. Although mine had not been taken and I had not been acknowledged by the attendant. He made eye contact with me but when he returned to the cash register he had begun filling the order of the woman who walked in after me placing two slices of strawberry cake on the counter and returning to get the next item she ordered. I at least got to make sure that the women that came in before me had already placed their orders before trying to place mine and I was summarily ignored. At this I walked out. This will be the last purchase I make from this location. Service is everything. You let one rude customer skip the line and it'll cost you. By the way, the lettering I had on the cake that I ordered last week was something I could have done at the age of 7. If you don't have someone that knows how to do that; just don't even attempt. That was pathetic. I overlooked it because it's a Black owned business. Bypass this location all together and instead take a ride to Bed Sty to spend your money at Doc's Cake Shop. It's a far superior product. I've never ordered any cake there that was as dry as 2-day old cornbread with icing on it. Docs is well worth well worth the nearly 2-hour ride that it takes me to get there. This service is above reproach. Besides, it's Black owned and operated. If you're not keen on traveling that far, go 10 blocks and one avenue over to cakeman Raven and enjoy Guinness Book of World's Records winning red velvet cake. It's small and a bit pricey, but once again a better use of your money than this place.

I will not endorse any other pastry associated with Make my Cake like I will when it comes to the red velvet cake. It is the best! So moist; so sweet; so tasty. Also, the slices of cake are robust. The cream cheese delectable! The prices are slowly increasing. The cupcakes aren’t as large as they used to be but, the red velvet slices are still top notch. It is pretty cool they are back in Harlem…they should have never left 116th! The customer service is underwhelming; dry would be the word. Where is the enthusiasm for your craft?

The baked goods are okay. I just went in to try to buy a sweet potato pie , the girl at the register seemed to take like 8 mins to ring up the customer and tape the box. Literally like 30 seconds a piece of tape. You'd think there was some urgency but nah. & my cab came so that was missed business . I didn't get to get my cake due to how long it was taking to service 1 person. I could've made the pie myself for that .

Awesome service! I ordered my cake in evening and they make it in 40 minutes. The costumer service was a another level of professionalism with great people having the sense of humour. Fair price too! I’m a happy costumer and I recommend them without hesitation. My wife by the way likes the cake. So yummmy !!!!

I came by Make My Cake a few months back and ordered the chocolate chip cookie to go. It was a pretty good cookie and am curious to try the other items on their menu such as the cake. Make My Cake has a quaint aesthetic coffee shop vibe on the inside in the heart of Harlem and there is also seating on the outside that has a pink Barbie vibe to it. Make My Cake might be the best pastry shop in the area.

We decided to get dessert after dinner. We wanted to get some desserts from Make My Cake. The service was timely and the ambiance was bakery like (sweet Frosting). There were a variety of cakes displayed and purchased but the one that I got was the pineapple upside down cake. I took a quick picture before I ate it all.

During a recent trip to Harlem for a birthday party we ordered a cake from Make My Cake. It was so delicious. The chocolate cake was both beautiful and delicious. It was a hit of the party. Staff was super helpful and provided great customer service.

Obsessed!! My daughter loves their cupcakes so we go at least once a week for a cupcake. Red velvet is my fave that cream cheese frosting is legit. However I'm here to talk about their chocolate cake. I ordered a 10 inch chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting for my son's first birthday. The ordering process was simple and I thought the cake was decently priced for its size 80.00 for a 10inch cake. Budget friendly at least for me. The staff is always friendly and helpful if you are indecisive. Ok back to the cake. It was DELICIOUS! The cake part was soft and not dry. The frosting was good alittle sweet but nothing to the point you needed to chug water. Everyone at the party loved the cake and kept talking about it. Overall it's a great bakery and I will continue to order my cakes from there

Wonderful quaint spot full of cake deliciousness. Purchased a slice of red velvet cake. Generous slice size and wonderful flavors with cream cheese icing with the perfect amount of sweetness. Great customer service.

The ambience here was very quaint and had a very local feel. The restaurant was small but they had a few seats for dine-in customers, was nice since I grabbed a slice of cake on my way to the airport hah! The cake itself was delicious. I also got a cupcake, but I didn't get a picture of that. Everything tasted fresh and well made. The staff was also pleasant and polite. Definitely worth the stop!

I'm a sucker for their Red Velvet cake! Make my Cake definitely has the best Red Velvet cake in town. I've come on several occasions to grab a slice of cake or cupcake and their service disappoints. The staff are friendly and informative. The environment is warm and inviting. There's outdoor seating (if weather permits).

There caramel cake is really good. The frosting tastes amazing. Tip: Call ahead before arrival to make sure they will be open!

Make My Cake has the best selection of cakes that you can purchase by the slice. I love the cookies best because I can eat the cookie on the way home. This location in Morningside Heights @ West 125th Street is my favorite location. I definitely stop in for something special no matter which location I'm near. This one is far from my apartment but in a busy area of Harlem. It's definitely a all day trip when I visit this neighborhood. Customer Service is always tops! Support your local small minority owned businesses.....

I have such a soft spot for sweets and these baked goods were soooo good! There were so many good flavors it was hard to choose. I tried their lemon strawberry cupcake, red velvet cupcake, double chocolate cupcake, and sweet potato cheesecake. None of them disappointed. The inside of the bakery is nice but on the smaller side. They have a few seats inside. The service was nice and attentive.

I love Make My Cake. I am fortunate to live within walking distance of several bakeries in Harlem, and this is one of my three favorites. I alternate among them on my weekend errands, depending on what kind of desserts I'm in the mood for that week. At Make My Cake, my faves include the coconut pineapple layer cake, strawberry frosted cupcake, sweet potato cheesecake, apple or peach cobbler, key lime pie, and the coconut pecan cookies. I'll buy a cake slice or a cupcake and eat it over the course of 3 or 4 days. They stay fresh so every bite is a delight. Same with the cheesecake and the pie. The cobblers are huge so those last me through the week. And the cookies--I always get one or two on the side :-) The staff is typically local young folks as far as I can tell, who rotate somewhat frequently. It can get quite busy in there and I can see that they are sometimes feeling under pressure, but they maintain professionalism and reliable customer service. And with me, they are always especially kind and patient (could be my grays, signaling my neighborhood Auntie status haha). I love it. Store hours were hard to pin down when they first opened this location, but I think they found their rhythm now. Not once in the past few months have I walked over and found the doors locked and lights out during published store hours, nor have they been sold out of my favorites. A+

Cake and service was good! My guest and I loved the cakeI was eating cake for days afterwards! Only gripe was that they didn't have a handle bag big enough to carry the cake which was a bit heavy to transport but all in all it was good!

The owner- Aliyyah is so personable with staff and customers! Had the pleasure to hear the history behind the grand opening and witness how interactive she is with the public. Not to mention Nonstop traffic placing orders for sweets and connected coffee shop. Love to hear and see black businesses flourish especially in such a crucial time economically. Ginger tea plus a dose of HE+AL - you must try! Take my word for it!

My usual baker was not able to satisfy an order for a 6/7 inch buttercream birthday cake for my husband that was last minute. I suddenly remembered how i used to trek from Bedstuy to Harlem back in the day, just to satisfy my sweet tooth. I remember being so in like(lol!) with their buttercream icing, so I called and inquired about getting an order for a 7inch BD cake fulfilled within 48 hrs & Make My Cake came through in a clutch! Needless to say, hubby LOVED his cake(color, design & taste).

This is still my all-time favorite homemade cake in Harlem. Definitely worth the trip if you have the time.

Okay Yelp fam, it's officially been one week since I discovered Make My Cake up the street from me, and I have eaten more than a months worth of cupcakes and cake in the days since. My name is Rebecca and I so AM a sugar addict! It's an honest godsend they don't open until 11 am as that's the only thing stopping me from cake for breakfast lunch AND dinner at this point. Now that I've tried nearly all her fantastic flavors, I have come to report back on my favorites for you. MUST GET SLICES (and get a slice for your fam because you will NOT want to share) + double chocolate cake (this tastes just like the cake in the movie Matilda looks) and is my kryptonite + Peach Cobbler is DIVINE + really love the strawberry cupcakes made with buttercream frosting w fresh strawberries mixed in- you can really taste it! + key lime pie is SO SO SO good and really rivals those I've eaten on the Florida Keys!!! OH lastly forgot the white chocolate almond cookies- now white chocolate isn't usually my thing but trust me when I say you have to try these and the oatmeal raisin. I'm drooling at the taste memory

i had carrot cake and red velvet.very heavy and condensed. the carrot cake flavor wasnt on point and not a good cake frosting ratio. the red velvet tastes like yellow cake with red dye.i am a customer from the 116th street location ,im disappointed.

So my mother wanted to buy my grandma a cake right. So I suggest her, hey let go support a black own business let go to "make my cake" haven't been there for while we drove from Jersey. why my mother came back into the car disappointed, I'm like what happened she was like ain't the chocolate cake with white cream is called a "Devil's Food cake " I'm like yeah, soo y'all... why they assume my mother was calling the cake a "Devil" they told her, "don't be say that in my store". "we don't do that here". "Don't call the cake a devil here". Y'all my mother goes to a church couple of blocks from this store. Like this why you can't buy for your own people, They assume to freaking much and sound so ignorant. Please educate yourself about a business make sure you know a little bit of history about the things you are selling and ask questions if don't know ? Please Don't look like a fool in assume anybody or anyone belief. In if you don't like your cake be called a "Devil" please make your own unique names for your own cakes!! So people can see it. So you won't look stupid in front of high level bakery - chocolate cake with white cream is called a "Devil cake" - Double chocolate cake "can be" called a "Devil cake" to ,but people get confused in call it a " chocolate cake is classic recipe In If you need more proof go to your local supermarket or go on YouTube EDUCATE yourself. Betty Crocker sell "Devil food cake" in a box to. * sorry I'm not coming back to "Miss Cleo bake my cake" And told my mother don't come back.

This used to be my go to bakery. They have the best homemade cakes ever. I don't know what has happened in the last three years but the cakes are disgusting. They must be using some different frosting. I don't know but they are very nasty . Besides being nasty I don't know who they have decorating cakes. The writing on the cakes are horrible. I've been going to them since 2001 and I've never had an issue with them until the past three years.

The reason for my 2 star rating was simply because it technically wasn't the cake I ordered but what choice did I have on day of pick up for a party the next day...I placed this cake ordered from June 28th for pick up July 15. I've heard great things about make my cake . I was in contact via email as well as the phone. It was the shape that I wanted however the flowers was suppose to be purple and the inside was suppose to be strawberry. I basically got a plain vanilla cake with pink flowers. I was told that I had put a deposit the day I put my order in which was no problem. Leaving a balance of 87 dollars and was told that it would be extra because I wanted purple again no problem. It was for my mom's 65th birthday and purple is her favorite color. When i was told my balance was 95 i was shocked because that wasnt what i told over the phone. The 95 dollars wasnt the problem if i had gotten exactly what i wanted. As you can see nothing but pink all over and when the cake was cut not a taste of strawberry no where. It was basically a vanilla cake. I didn't make a fuss at the store because the head baker had an attitude. I left disappointed because it wasn't what I ordered and I didn't have a choice again cause the party was the next day. Overall my mom was happy and she enjoyed her cake but I was just disappointed because it wasn't what I ordered. What was the point of giving specific if they did what they wanted anyway. The rating is solely based on not getting what I ordered. Everyone at the party enjoyed the cake but it was just disappointing.

The store on 139 Street is the best. I believe the store owned on 125st and the 96st are ran by a distance relative or adopted child. The cakes at 125 st and 96st are terrible please stay away. But please go to the original place on 139st .

Trying to support a local business is hard when they close earlier than the posted hours and will not take customer business. It is frustrating seeing what you want to buy , workers inside, and locked doors all during the posted business hours. Time to find a new business to support.

the service was on point. I went for the carrot cake but they were out the clerk advised me on other options I ended up purchasing four slices, all were amazing especially that coconut cake. I've found my new place just a trek from queens but baaaby, I'm hooked!

Best sweet potato cheesecake. Before now, I haven't eaten a sweet potato pie better than my grandmother's. This sent tingles throughout my mouth. It was great.

Delicious! The cupcakes here are my dream cupcakes. Super delicious cake and dense, fudgy frosting. Will definitely be my dessert go-to from now on.

In preparation for my wife's 70th birthday we sampled three pre-packaged slices: lemon butter, strawberry layer and chocolate layer. All were delicious and moist. The lemon and strawberry frostings were out of this world. Not sure what the actual birthday cake will be but it will definitely be from Make My Cake (125th street style).

I came in here the other day to buy a slice since my daugher wanted to get some cake from here for a while now. I decided to go with red velvet. I thought it was going to be good for almost 9 dollars a slice. I proceed to ask the clerk if she had a menu and she repeats the question as if she was confused. She says they have a website. I ask her for the name and she just says "make my cake. Everything is make my cake." With an attitude. Sometimes ppl maybe nervous, should be more amiable if you work in customer service. Anyway I get home check out the website no price listing. When I took a bite of the cake it was very dense and had a funny taste to it. Like maybe a certain ingredient that was overbearing, idk I couldn't put my finger on it. The frosting was good. But the base was NOT red velvet. On their website they state they have a authentic southern taste. Anyone who's a fan of true southern red velvet knows the secret to the cake is CHOCOLATE! And i could tell the color was too light. Absolute disappointment. I could get a box at the supermarket and make a better slice. And at almost 10 bucks for a slice Absolutely not buying again. The other reason is it just wasn't good slice overall. I couldn't put my finger on that werid tasting ingredient.

I ordered a cake for Saturday 12/3/22. No long story, the cake was HORRIBLE!!! The cake was stiff, it was dry and had no flavor. $190.00 for a nasty dry cake. Never again. Very very disappointed.

the most unprofessional staff ever they dont know what they are doing ordered a buttercream cake and they gave me a red velvet cake instead who my bff is allergic to! ended up in the er, called for a refund and the owner hung up on me! a waste of $70 &. a hospital bill completely ruined my bffs bday and mothers day weekend! aaron was the one who made this terrible mistake and they couldn't even apologize!

I brought a few cupcakes and a slice of cake. All of the cupcakes were extremely dry but the slice of cake was moist. I've been to their other locations before and I've never had a problem with the quality so maybe this location just needs more work.
