This is a beautiful new restaurant. We went due to the excellent reviews. The decor of this restaurant is excellent. Everything was done with quality and style. We found the service not very good. It was utilitarian at best. Our waiter never had time for us and we had to stop him multiple times to get service. We ordered soup and 3 main courses. The soup was delicious. The Lamb dish was dry and spicy. Not much more flavor. The Fish dish was bathed in oil. Fish was good, but again not much flavor except oil. The Shrimp was good. The best part of the meal was the Crepes cake. This was a very unique and delicious dessert.

Great and caring waitstaff, got some interesting items on the menu, one was the crispy rice with pork, where they come to your table to complete the meal, so cool. Loved, loved loved the chili oil dumplings, wish we had gotten 2 orders. Will definitely go back and enjoy more interesting items on the menu. Shared with 3, and hsooy with rice, noodles, all of it!

Excellent service, food, and modern space. They were so kind about explaining the meaning behind the interior design. I especially liked how flexible they were about dietary restrictions. The food was deliciousss with intense flavors. Loved the cucumbers, Dan Dan noodles, garlic eggplant. They made a lot of dishes vegan and without shellfish when asked. So glad this location is in the Heights!

The food was so flavorful!!! It had a little bit of spice (hot) in all the dishes. I like spicy so I really enjoyed the spiciness. The flavor was very robust in all the dishes. The restaurant was so warm and welcoming. I loved all the decor.

Best Sichuan restaurant in Houston! From the first location to the fifth, mala never never fails to excel. Been to all of their locations and twice to this newest location, they have a full bar here and the zodiac house cocktails are original! Jade rabbit is my fav. Tried their Halloween special pumpkin puff is phenomenal.

Very pleased with everything. The quality of food, taste and presentation was all wonderful. Happy to know we have a Mala sichuan close by us now! We recommended the spicy crunch chicken, mapo tofu, garlic eggplant.

Mala Sichuan is one of my favorite Houston Restaurants. I’m so excited to have this location in the Heights! It’s so close to everything being right off the Hike and Bike trail. Also, I’m pretty excited that this location will have mixed drinks along with their usual beer and wine! I just had the Crispy Mala Beef. One of my favorites!

Mala Sichuan Bistro opened up its new location in the Heights. The original restaurant started in Chinatown, and it has expanded to 5 total locations across Houston now! We have been going to Mala Sichuan Bistro for years, so it's amazing to have a location so close to home. [COCKTAILS] +Friendly Tiger (Oolong-Infused Bourbon, Orange Marmalade, Orange Bitters) for $13 - If you like a very boozy drink, this is it. - 3.5/5 [STREET FOOD SNACKS] +Red Oil Dumplings (House made dumplings with pork filling slathered in red chili oil, grinded garlic, and sweet and spicy soy paste, topped with sesame and green onions) for $8.99 (8-pieces) - This tastes better at other locations. I feel like these were frozen, and the dumpling shell feels too thick. - 3/5 [POULTRY] +Black Pepper Chicken (Dark meat chicken sautéed with onions and jalapeño pepper in black pepper sauces) for $14.99 - 4/5 [VEGETABLE] +Basil Eggplant and String Beans (Sautéed Chinese eggplants and string beans with basil in a sweet and salty pasty soy sauce and oyster sauce) for $13.99 - I'm a fan of eggplant, so this was really good for me. - 5/5

Yelp
This place never disappoints and is one of our favorite restaurants in Houston! Everything we've had here is pretty good, but I'd highly recommend their Hot & Sour Soup, Spicy & Crispy Chicken, and their Water Boiled Fish Fillet or their Dry Pot Fish Fillet. Service is always quick and efficient and the waiters are always close by and attentive when we need anything, and their restaurant is suitable for large parties or small groups! FYI: This particular location is a little hidden towards the back of the parking lot.

Yelp
Really nice ambience inside - decor was great! Smallish restaurant but good location at MKT. The chicken soup was okay - not super flavorful but nice on a cold day. The kung pao chicken eggplant + string beans were both delicious. Split among two of us and still had a little bit of leftovers.

Yelp
Came here for a reunion with some friends and Mala did not disappoint. This is my 3-4th time to visit this location, but probably my 100th+ time to Mala overall. The food is fantastic as usual. The dishes are spicy and numbing thanks to the Sichuan peppercorns. Everything comes out fresh and flavorful. The spicy pork in garlic sauce is a bit heavy on the vinegar in my opinion, and this has been a recurring problem for a while now across multiple locations. The cripsy chicken is a must although the serving size has been trending down too. The interior is beautifully decorated. This is one of their newer locations, and the design shows. Located in MKT plaza, there are also many other shops and activities around, including a walking trail and Hui Lau Shan, my favorite dessert shop. Parking lot can be busy, but I have always been able to find a spot. The servers were efficient and attentive. We spent some time just chatting before and after our meal, and they never rushed us to leave. Overall, I love Mala and think it is a great place for a shared meal.

Yelp
Szechuan food is one of my faaaavorite Chinese cuisines, especially when done right, and Mala Sichuan never disappoints!! I was a bit skeptical of this location in particular, since I wasn't sure if the food would be consistent across all the different locations, but the food here was just as good as the rest. Everything tasted authentic to me, and I love a numbing spice. The interior of this restaurant is also super nice and feels very elegant.

Yelp
This place was awesome. Food was top notch. Ambiance was off the charts with the decor. Food: That beef bowl was insanely good. I don't remember which one it was, but show them this picture below and order it. Dan dan noodles: delicious! It's a cold noodle for any newbies (like me). But so good. Udon: this was amazing all by itself. We demolished the noodles super fast lol. Prawns: amazing flavor, and the sichuan peppers in there were the REAL DEAL. Everything was awesome. I'd absolutely eat here again.
google avatar

Farrah A.

Yelp
I didn't grow up eating a lot of szechuan, so it's not something I'm accustomed to eating or ever really craved. Until a few weeks ago... Ever since trying Mala's "dry pot fish fillet" a few weeks ago, I can't stop thinking of it. It's battered and deep fried basa fillets, cauliflour, crispy potatoes, king oyster mushrooms, celery, and lotus root all *heavily seasoned* with dried chilis, szechuan peppercorns, hot pot sauce and oil... and who knows what other seasonings. Deeee-fricking-lish. We also rounded out dinner with spicy cucumber salad, spicy and crispy chicken, and mongolian beef (which I didn't try, so I can't vouch fot it. It was the least favorite from my tablemate). We also got the "Social Goat" cocktail. Made with Jasmin-infused gin, basil, cucumber, lime, and tonic, it was essentially a really good G&T. Go, and at least order the dry pot fish fillet and spicy cucumber salad for #noregrets.

Yelp
Per usual, Mala is always killing it. This was my first time at the Heights location in the MKT plaza, and it was such a vibe. Our group ordered Dry Fried Double Veggies, Dry Pot Prawns, Eggplants in Spicy Garlic Sauce, and Spicy and Crispy Chicken. It was my first time trying the prawns and they were so delicious. Definitely the standout of the night. The prawns were flavorful with a variety of different veggies. The rest of the dishes are always a go to for us. They never let us down!
google avatar

Nhi T.

Yelp
Went with some friends and we got the spicy and crispy chicken, the dry double fried veggies (green beans), the eggplant with spicy garlic sauce, and the beef dry pot. The spicy and crispy chicken was good flavor wise but a bit dry/over cooked in my opinion. The beef dry pot was very flavorful and had authentic Sichuan flavor, I just wish it was less oily and more dry but that is just personal preference. (7/10) The green beans were standard (7.5/10) and the eggplant was a bit overpowered by garlic sauce. (6/10) Overall the ambiance is a nicer casual spot and the service is quick. It satisfies your craving if you are wanting Sichuan flavors. Plenty of parking at MKT plaza!

Yelp
We order this for take out at least twice a week. This food is crave-worthy! We try new things each time, but always get the red oil dumplings, the fish dry pot, and Dandan noodles. The side dishes all look delicious and can't wait to try each one. The nourishing soup is also a good choice for an interesting flavorful broth.
google avatar

Yelp
No. We walked in 20 mins before closing and the guy that greeted us (if you want to call that a greeting) said the kitchen was about to close. The food was alright. Learn better customer service skills will no be going back here. Food was alright at best.

Yelp
Came in on a weekday around 7pm. They weren't too busy, so we were sat immediately. Our waiter was very attentive, he checked in on us multiple times throughout our service. The restaurant itself was decorated beautifully, the bathrooms are clean, and there's fresh flowers on each table which was a nice touch. As far as the food goes we ordered the cucumber sticks, they weren't out favorite. They had a very strong flavor that we weren't a fan of. We also ordered their red oil dumplings and they were fantastic. Probably my favorite dish we tried. The sauce is spicy and just perfect! We also had Dan Dan noodles, and they were good, not our favorite they needed more pork. The crispy prawns were delicious! We weren't fans of the crackers but the prawns we'd definitely order again. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and we'll definitely be back to stuff ourselves with red oil dumplings!!
google avatar

Neha S.

Yelp
This is my favorite Mala location out of all of them. The ambiance is 12/10. My group and I got a corner circular booth so we felt like we had a nice big table that felt private while also being a part of the restaurant's atmosphere. The actual quality of the food was my favorite at this location. We got the chili oil dumplings, spicy and sour wontons, and the Dan Dan noodles. The dumplings and wontons had the perfect balance of spiciness to them, and the sauce was flavorful. The Dan Dan noodles were very earthy and rich in flavor, and the noodle texture was amazing. The service was also good - nothing to complain about.

Yelp
Kinda difficult to find if you are not familiar with this particular area in the heights, as it is on the backside of the parking area, but don't be deterred- This place is soooooo good!! Their sister location the original Mala Sichuan on Montrose USED TO BE my favorite go-to spot for authentic spicy Chinese cuisine, but no longer, because this location is gorgeous aesthetically, and the food is beyond STELLAR!! We had the Couples Tendon dish, red chili oil wontons, and the spicy crispy chicken! Just all so very fragrant with chili's and flavor!! I'm so sorry I forget our servers name, but he was amazing as well. Will be back for sure!!!

Yelp
Stopped in for a late dinner on a Friday night and it was busy. It's a nice size restaurant with a clean look. We were seated quickly but it took a white for someone to come take our order. We ordered a few things to share and those items came out quickly which was fantastic! Overall the food was just average, maybe we ordered the wrong items ... The basil chicken was decent in size but basically just popcorn chicken bites. We only had about 3 basil leaves in the whole dish. The red oil dumplings needed more filling and more flavor! These had some real potential to be bursting with flavor. The chicken potstickers were the best thing we ordered! The filling had flavor and they were crispy and fried well. No one checked on us after our food was dropped off and I had to go to the bar to get our check.

Vladimir S.

Yelp
Food was cooked well, balanced nicely, and good amount of portions for the price. Service was decent too. Definitely the best Asian food in the Heights. I was visiting Houston recently and had a lot bad experiences with food, and then I found this place and had to go there twice in two days.

Jue W.

Yelp
I grew up in China and the food reminds me of what I had back home. One of the best Chinese restaurants in the loop.
google avatar

Melodi D.

Yelp
So so so good. The Montrose location of Mala Sichuan used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, but my last experience there wasn't amazing--I felt that the quality had gone down a bit. But, I decided to give this location (Heights, MKT) a try, and I'm so glad I did! The interior was beautiful, the service was very quick and friendly, and the food was delicious. We ordered the Spicy and Crispy Chicken, the Water Boiled Beef, and the Chillin Cucumber Sticks. Everything was great. The cucumbers seem pretty unassuming but they were a nice break amongst all the Szechuan spice haha. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
A family favorite!! My parents and I love coming here and to their other location in Katy. Food is always delicious and cocktails are refreshing with a different variety. We always order the Mapo tofu and crispy/spicy chicken. Waitress and staff are always kind and accommodating esp when we come in with our baby. If you're into spicy food this place is a must!!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent ambience and service, fairly tasty food but a bit pricy. Compared to other restaurants on bellaire, this is definitely much more expensive. The vibes and decor are really nice though. The food is also still pretty authentic. Would come here again if I don't want to drive out to Bellaire or I'm taking some guests out, but otherwise there are better options.
google avatar

Cynthia V.

Yelp
Came here for a group lunch (5 people) on a Friday and had no issue being seated. Located on the trail side of MKT; parking is available in the lots surrounding the MKT development. I love the ambiance here - the flickering illusion lanterns and hanging pagoda were really neat touches. They have an expansive menu of items and they do explain that their Sichuan-style cooking means most dishes have spice to them, but the ones we had were not overpoweringly spicy by any means, and I am a bit of a spice wimp. We ordered the red oil dumplings to start and then shared a few dishes among the table including the Mapo Tofu, Dry Fried Veggies, and Crispy Chicken. All were excellent to where it is hard to pick a favorite, so I suggest coming with a group and going family style to try a bit of everything!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Yum!! I love Mala and was so excited to check out a new location. Having tried the Mala Sichuan in Chinatown, I wondered if this one would be up to par. Update - it was!! We went on a Thursday evening around 8pm. We were pretty hungry and ordered the red oil dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, peppercorn chicken, and cumin lamb. Our server brought everything out within a few minutes! We quickly chowed down (so fast that I didn't get a picture of the red oil dumplings!) Everything was fantastic. The peppercorn chicken is my new favorite chicken item on the menu - it offers the same delicious, tongue-numbing taste as the spicy and crispy chicken but without all the extra red peppers. The cumin lamb was seasoned perfectly, though it was a touch on the oily side. The Dan Dan noodles were also a bit oily but tasted great as well! I liked having an extra carb option in addition to the white rice. The red oil dumplings were also a big hit and tasted as delicious as the other Mala locations. This is a nice spot with ample indoor and outdoor seating, and would be perfect for any dinner setting with friends, families, or date night. I would love to come back here next time I'm at MKT Heights!

Yelp
I've been the location in Bellaire, so going here was a first. Right off the bat, I really enjoyed the set-up of this location - it is drastically different from the one I've been to and both styles have their place. Our waiter was also on top of it and attentive to our table. I'd never had plum juice before but definitely recommend it. The beef dry pot, red oil dumplings, and mapu tofu were the stand outs for me; the duck was good, but it's not my choice of protein. I was impressed that they were able to leave the bread crumbs off of something for a friend who is gluten free, as well. The tiramisu crepe cake was delicious and I was so excited to finally get to try one.

Yelp
Mala will always be one of my favorite Houston staples, and I'm happy to see this new location in the Heights! The interior is very clean, sleek, and modern compared to the Chinatown location. We made a reservation for our party of 6 on a Saturday. The staff was accommodating for the toddlers in our group by providing high chairs and kids bowls. They might not have revolving dining tables, but food is still as great as the other locations. We usually aim for a variety of meat dishes and a couple vegetable entrees for family style. I've also heard that portions are smaller here - did not notice a significant difference myself except for maybe the lamb dish. A few of my favorites to order: - Sautéed lamb with veggies - Eggplants in garlic sauce: one of the more flavorful veggie dishes - Dan Dan noodles: I don't always order this at Chinese restaurants but I love that they are slightly sweet and not too spicy at Mala - Dried fried green beans: they don't have a beans only dish so you have to order "dry fried double veggies" without bamboo - Mala tofu pudding with fish fillet - Spicy crunchy chicken I always leave with a very happy tummy, and will certainly be back for more!
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Fantastic food prices and service! Extremely accommodating of our party of twelve. Service was efficient and we did not have to wait long for our food. The dining room was open and spacious - personally I think this is the best looking mala in Houston. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, you can't go wrong with mapo tofu and kungpao chicken here. Food was not too spicy compared to other Chinese restaurants I've eaten at by myself, however, I was with a diverse group so this may have been a factor. Not pictured, but the lucky dog cocktail was also fantastic. The monkey zodiac drink was great but definitely stronger. Will be back!

Yelp
Mala Sichuan Bistro was great and had an ambiance as well. The food was absolutely delicious with great flavor and portions. Service was fine too.

Yelp
The 2024 Mid-Autumn bag is so cute with the round rabbits, floating lanterns, and a picturesque landscape. It's $39.99 (sale) or $35.99 (presale) for a pack of (4) with (2) salt and pepper and (2) sweet and savory Sichuan-style moon cakes. The crust is tender yet flakey with surprisingly fragrant and tasty fillings. The meat inside is similar to chunky hard jerky, which doesn't seem to have much flavor by itself but creates an interesting texture as it's not dry-tasting. The other ingredients are chewy and soft. The sesame seeds on the outside mix with the fillings to create another mouthfeel. The sichuan peppercorn's smell and flavor permeates but doesn't overwhelm the sweet and savory flavors. I definitely recommend trying them out even at the price point since you can pay the same price or more from the supermarkets for a less yummy version. The Green Tea Bacon Fried Rice was lightly flavored even with every grain coated with oil and tons of chopped curly bacon. I liked how the chopped onions were lightly caramelized and tender. The dish made me really interested in how the green tea is incorporated into the cooking process. I'm so used to wanting scrambled eggs in good fried rice that I did want to add some even though the flavor wasn't lacking. It was a good size dish for the price and uniqueness. Lunch service on a weekday after 12 PM was quick. Even with the rain, there was a large work party and tables filled.
google avatar

Shelley F.

Yelp
Very modern design but food is still authentic! Our service was fast. I liked the variety of the presentation. It wasn't the BEST Sichuan food I've had, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. There is a lot of parking available, although the GPS wasn't that accurate and I had to do some scouting to find the actual restaurant.
google avatar

Payton B.

Yelp
Decent Chinese place. Got the dried mala beef, golden noodle soup with beef brisket, Dan Dan noodles, dumplings and a meatball dish. All was good but nothing too special.
google avatar

Kiran A.

Yelp
I went there the other day with some girls for dinner. Initially our reservation was for six people, and we had to decrease it down to four people as some people couldn't make it. We all got there on time, on a Thursday, and it was somewhat busy. We could see maybe four or five tables of patrons. We check in at the front to get seated and the person helping us is very confused by where to seat us. He had to find someone else to help and they seat us at these long farm tables with a bench towards the back of the restaurant. I sit down and immediately feel claustrophobic. It's less space between the bench and table edge than on a southwest flight. One of my friends even commented that, she was like I feel like I'm on a plane but with even less space between myself and the foldout tray. We asked to be moved elsewhere, as they had these two big round tables with plenty of seats, where we can put our own distance between us and the table. They said those tables were for bigger parties and they agreed that our space was limited, they explains this was due to the folks on the table behind us having a baby car seat, and thus needing to move back the bench, which made the space tighter for us. I understand that, and then being hospitable to the folks with the baby car seat. I don't understand why wouldn't they accommodate our table of four, even after we explained that I was feeling claustrophobic. The rest of the meal was soured by how uncomfortable we were. We ordered maybe 6-7 beef dishes and all of them were great. But the bad experience and lack of caring for customers cut down the stars here.

Yelp
For those of you who like spicy this isn't the place to go. The name of the restaurant is "Mala Sichuan" which means a numbing spiciness from the Sichuan region, unfortunately this place did not have that kind of spicy. On the plus side if you do not like spicy food, this is a decent Chinese restaurant to visit. I like that this place has a nice modern interior with interesting architecture. I highly recommend the House Special Cold Noodles, it was one of my favorite dishes there! I has a mild spiciness with hints of sesame taste from the vinaigrette. I normally don't like cold noodles, but the temperature was just right, not freezing cold but not room temp. I would also recommend the Eggplants in Spicy Garlic Sauce. It was not too spicy at all and one of the best garlic sauces I've had in awhile! We also ordered the Jiggling Pork Belly and Aromatic Spicy Lamb Ribs. Sadly the pork belly was not very flavorful and was kind of dry nor did it melt in your mouth. The lamb ribs were spicy in the sense that there was a lot of spices like cumin, still spicy hot though but also dry and seemed over cooked. They had a huge cocktail selection and named it after the 12 zodiac signs which I thought was cute. I ordered the Royal Horse cocktail which had plum sake, creme de violette, and prosecco. It was nice and refreshing but sadly the plum sake was overshadowed. The service was a great, they were very professional, and even with a big group, they did not mess up our order! While they have several locations, I thought this location was alright. But it did leave me wanting more cold noodles, so if anything I would go back for that dish alone.

Brady G.

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing! Great service as well! Everything came out quickly and tasted great. The atmosphere was laid back and quiet. It allowed you to really enjoy your meal.
google avatar

Elizabeth O.

Yelp
The service was great and the food was good. We told them to make it extra spicy but it still wasn't spicy enough for me. I added the spicy chili flakes and that definitely intensified the spicy and taste. Very shareable size, and it comes with a big pot of white rice. I would definitely be back.
google avatar

Jacob D.

Yelp
The MKT is a great location for Mala. They have a well decorated interior and offering some outdoor seating as well. We got seated quickly and our server was attentive the whole time. I think the menu is a little too dense. If you are going to offer some authentic menu items you'll need to trim it down to make room for some details about the dish. Chinese foods dishes take a lot of liberty in their naming description on occasion. Nothing particularly wowed and the portions were on the slightly smaller side compared to other places I frequent for Chinese cuisine. I think the food is good, but I prefer other places. Worth a visit.
google avatar

Yelp
I have tried several locations of Mala Sichuan and so far they haven't disappointed me yet. Food was always good. Can't say the same on the drinks. The new location has a nice ambiance. Service was good.
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
Located in the millennial friendly MKT area in the Heights. Plenty of parking behind the shops and the bike trail to the front. Interior is brand new and very modern for a Chinese spot; definitely more closely resembling their Montrose spot than the Chinatown spot. Prices are premium, accounting for their rent here and current inflationary environment. We ordered the kung Pao chicken, spicy chicken cubes, pine nuts/ corn, fried shrimp, boiled beef, wontons etc family style. We found the portions to be smaller, flavor to be slightly inferior, and prices seem to be higher than their other spots. Not great but definitely not bad. Overall group consensus was that a slightly further drive for better food was worth it. I can definitely think of about 2-3 spots within 10 miles that I would choose to go (dine in or takeout) with superior flavor and/or portions.

Kennedy K.

Yelp
So good, Dan Dan noodles are thicker noodles and have so much flavor to them, the mapo tofu is amazing and comes with a side of white rice, the real star of the show was the chicken it was so good and crispy 10/10
google avatar

Laura H.

Yelp
Phenomenal service and authentic food, this place did not disappoint! The duck tastes just like it did when I lived in China, and the Ma Po Dou Fu (Mama's Spicy Tofu) was as good my fave restaurant in my in Sichuan. The ambiance is classy and cozy. I hope they open one in Dallas!

Yelp
MKT space in Heights for Thanksgiving take out today -parking is at the second entrance off of 7th and Shepherd. We thought there was another parking by the restaurant and we found out the hard way and had to drive a loop to get back in. It's by the green space. Knockouts: 1) green beans were outstanding I think they are fried and also some pork is sprinkled 2) purple eggplants the skin stays aubergine and the meat is so tender and juicy, the best I've had in town The fried chicken pieces were flavorful and spicy. There was a good amount of fried shrimp in the salted dish - their batter is thicker than other places. The tea duck was juicy and had hints of tea. Tiramisu Mille fille was light and good flavor. Highly recommended! They do have some outdoor seating too.

Yelp
Mala Sichuan Bistro is located in a really neat commercial center that has ample free parking. This location has more seating and can accommodate bigger groups better than the other location. The restaurant is really nice and clean, it has a nice dimmed ambiance. It's nice to have such a good spot so far from Chinatown. The food is fantastic and consistent with the food at the other locations. My favorites are listed below. - Red oil dumplings - Dan Dan noodles - Perpercorn chicken My absolute favorite at the other location is the water boiled fish but I didn't see it on the menu for this location. They have to-go containers if your eyes were bigger than your stomach when you were ordering. The food heats up just fine so it's really a win win. They also have a full bar with some unique signature drinks. I did not partake this time so I don't have any comments on how good the drinks are.

Yelp
Big fans...from the warm welcome upon arrival to departure, the experience here was amazing. We had a large party of 11 and called the day prior to ensure we had a table reserved since it was for a Saturday lunch time. The ambiance was trendy and the service was very catering. Every dish ordered was tasty and delicious! The presentation was pleasant and the portions were fulfilling. Parking was plentiful as it is a shared lot with other businesses in the center. We will definitely be back! Enjoy!

Yelp
Love this place - nice venue, decor and ambiance. Service was very quick. My gf and I were really hungry and ordered 4 dishes - mapo tofu, Gorden cabbage, Dan Dan noodle and dry pot beef. They all were great and tasty, right amount of spice level for us ! Rice also came with the meal.

Yelp
Never. Again. This is what they consider Dan Dan Noodles to go. Must be bots posting good reviews. Sad.

Yelp
First time back to Mala in many years and first time to this location. It's pretty small on the inside but we had no problem getting a table for dinner on Friday night. We started off with the garlic cordyceps and chicken potstickers and both were delicious. The garlic cordyceps had a really unique and fresh taste, there is so much garlic that it gives off a spicy feeling at first. I loved the light fry of the potstickers and the yummy ginger dipping sauce. For entrees we got the Sichuan salt and pepper prawns, tea smoked duck and boiled water fish. I highly recommend the water boiled fish, it was so good with the mild (we asked for less spicy)sichuan pepper sauce poured over rice. The prawns were large, fresh and perfectly seasoned with a little kick. The duck was not for us. It had a very strong Smokey flavor and there were small bits of bone in that you couldn't see. We each tried a piece and ended up leaving behind the whole plate of it. Other than the duck I loved everything I had and will be going back to this location soon.

Yelp
Tasty spot! They have a wide range of Chinese dishes so you have a great selection. Vibes are nice and staff is great. Food is not too spicy but still has a good taste. Definitely wanna come back

Yelp
Large group family night we tried this location out and food wise it didn't disappoint. Large shareable portions. Some of there dishes have 3-5 ppl in ()...i would lean more to the 5 ppl side of that. We tried so many dishes, my standouts were the dan dan noodles and the dry pot fish fillets...but nothing that I can remember was a miss. A few dishes we did add some chili oil to spice up the flavor, but I can say all dishes were good. Not sure, maybe understaffed, but service was pretty slow. They were pleasant though.

Yelp
This is one of my goto restaurant chains for some good Sichuan food. The ambiance varies from the locations and this being one of the newer locations, it is the nicest. The service was very good too and the staff was polite. I highly recommend mentioning your spice preferences for recommendations while placing the orders. Some of the dishes are very spicy.

Yelp
Very good authentic Sichuan food. The ambiance in the restaurant was amazing. Not too busy and service was good. The food came out quickly and was excellent. I would definitely come again. The chicken is very spicy so be ready for some heat! But it's so delicious.

Yelp
I was worried that Mala expanding to 4 locations might impact the quality of their food and service. I've now visited the new Heights location 3 times and I can say that I now prefer it over the Montrose location. The food and service are still the same, but the new location feels bigger and more comfortable and its a little closer to my office. Water Boiled Fish and Red Oiled dumplings are my go to order. Enough to feed an army or a big hungry guy with enough left over for lunch the next day. These dishes are so good, I don't really explore the menu further, but what dishes I've tried when I visit with a larger party have all been excellent. I highly recommend any of the Mala locations, but the Heights location has become my favorite.
