16 Best Seafood Restaurants Around Atlanta

"Fans of savory Creole seafood boils, including crawfish and snow crab by the pound, should make their way over to this Sylvan Hills establishment. Boils and fried seafood plates can come served with sausage, red potatoes, corn, or crispy fries. The generous fried seafood platter here with fish, shrimp, and oysters is worth the price ($35) and feeds at least two people. The restaurant also offers hot sausage, fried shrimp, and fried fish po’boys." - Eater Staff

The Best Creole & Cajun Restaurants In Atlanta

"When you're craving good seafood, you shouldn't have to change out of your three-days-worn sweatpants. Just slide into head to Mama Jane, which provides solid, affordable seafood without a mandatory dress code. This primarily to-go seafood and Creole kitchen in Sylvan Hills offers up New Orleans classics like tasty shrimp po’boys, crispy boudin balls, and lightly fried fish platters. But our favorite thing to order is the boiled seafood bags (stuffed with your choice of shrimp, snow crab, or crawfish) full of bold spices that just about jump outta the plastic bag. Just go home and wash your sweatpants, OK?" - nina reeder, juli horsford, demarco williams

Mama Jane Seafood & Creole Kitchen - Review - Sylvan Hills - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"If you’re in the Sylvan Hills area looking for quick, reasonably priced seafood, Mama Jane is all that drenched in Cajun and Creole spices. This small, unassuming establishment sits at the end of a shopping plaza. But inside, bright yellow walls and a New Orleans brass band cheerily blaring from the TV draw you to the order counter. Most plates are under $25, including their boiled shrimp, crawfish, or snow crab, which are served piping hot and heavily seasoned in a plastic bag. It’s mainly to-go ordering, so if you’re not up for cracking crabs while driving, wait until you get home or just order the tasty shrimp po’boys and crispy boudin balls." - Juli Horsford

Food was excellent! Huge portions. I got the red beans and rice with 3 pc fried fish. Also came with cornbread and scoop of potato salad. Potato salad was so good. Hubby got the fried fish and fries. Also came with potato salad and white bread. Our cousin got the crab boil. I didn't get a pic of it but it was plenty of food that she took home for dinner that night. The only critique was that they opened 30 minutes after their posted time and didn't answer the phone when we called about it. We waited in the parking lot till the open sign came on. It was worth the wait, though.

We wouldn't know the care, attention, and authenticity of the food just by passing by. You'd get a hint of the flavor when you walk in the door, and you'd travel to New Orleans when you hear the husband and wife speak. We were referred here in TikTok. I'm so happy we went. There was a table of 4 people when we walked in. They each had and 3lbs of crawfish each. Two people were from Atlanta, one from Dallas, and one from North Carolina. They told my wife and I that everything was good and they had no favorites because everything was good. After talking with the owners, we ordered fried fish. With red beans and rice. It was fantastic, flavorful, hot, and delicious. It was better than any other place we have been to outside of our home. They spared no seasoning, and I'm sure Mama Jane is proud. The crawfish was great. It was the purpose of our trip. It was the best price in Atlanta, and close to where we were working. The crawfish were a good size, and we ate them so fast, we didn't get a picture. Next time we will have to eat in. I highly recommend this place. I'm anxious to return and eat something else. I just live an hour + away in North Georgia. I don't care when you get there, just get there when you can.

Oy vey. I had to come back and leave a review because I realized I forgot to. I’ll start by saying I am from where seafood is done best, so my palate may be a little more refined for the taste and quality of seafood than many. I’m also a foodie and appreciate good food whether it be from a mom and pop spot or a fine restaurant. Although initially hesitant, I came here by the urging of a coworker. This was by far one of the worst food experiences I’ve ever had let alone seafood. The first red flag was I ordered online and it was around $3 pound for crawfish, there was no indication that it would be live. When I arrived I was told that the boiled crawfish were $9.99 /lb. I really wanted em so, “what the heck. The second red flag was I ordered other items and they were out of most of the things I ordered. The third red flag I didn’t listen to my nose. I wasn’t greeted with pleasant aromas when I entered. The evidence below is what cost $9.99/ lb and that’s straight out of the bag not eaten. I ate maybe 2 or 3. The taste was horrid in both flavor and texture. And as others have mentioned possibly spoiled. Save yourself, your stomach, your wallet and whatever pleasant seafood memories you have already had. You’ve been warned!

I ordered the shrimp basket (4.5/5) which was well seasoned and came with fries, potato salad and Texas toast. I also ordered the shrimp po boy which was about $14 (4.2/5). The shrimp and potato salad were delicious but the fries were average. I also ordered the corn and broccoli which were good. Overall I paid $44.44. I would definitely recommend and will be back for the shrimp!

The food is a 10/10 I loved every bite! Also check out the lemonades they are super delicious. Add a shot of ur fave liquor when u get home thank me later! Im a picky eater so when I say I know good food I do. Queen of greedy. Fast, clean, affordable, nice portion size!

Stopped in for some seafood boil as we had a pretty rough day just leaving the cemetery yesterday. Little did I know the owner would personally walk us through the menu. Being born in Louisiana I'm pretty picky about my crawfish and build but this is spiced just right!! I got shrimp sausage corn and a pond and a half of crawfish also a turkey neck and boudin balls. Everything was great. Not really a fan of the boudin balls as I was expecting more of a traditional pork taste these are more of a crawfish etioufe good none the less just not what I expected. Very friendly service and not a long wait at all. Also to my surprise I ended up being approached to try and ultimately buying some seasoning from turk. Didn't even recognize him at first just wanted to support a small business. What a great time we had especially after how our week has been. Really appreciate you guys taking such care in your business and customer service. Get that gumbo on the list fast so I have another place to get it from and I don't mind driving from the Clayco to come get it.

This little place packs tons of flavor into a very hearty meal! The fish special (whitening or catfish choice) was well seasoned and cooked to order. Also if you like jambalaya with that traditional New Orleans kick, then this is the spot to check out when your in Atlanta!

Yelp
Yikes, I don't know what happened - it's been a while since we've been back. We ordered via UberEats for delivery. Food arrived hot and quickly, however, nothing tastes like I remember. Quality of food just was not there - side bags were served with old corn, whole potatoes and completely bland. So disappointing because the corn used to be my FAVORITE. Crawfish was not as flavorful and spicy - just eh. Red beans and rice, eh. I'm so disappointed; the quality of everything just took a massive plummet. The ingredients must be respected! You gotta go to New Orleans for the real deal at this point, thought we had one here :(

Yelp
I am personally a big fan of Crawfish, and this Crawfish is amazing. The shrimp are big, and I love the taste of the sausage. But they're real star is those beignets. The service is always friendly and talkative . It is more of a dine and go experience, but they do have a couple of tables in case you want to sit down. The prices are a little up there though.

Yelp
I wanted for some time to check them out. Friday afternoon. Purchased a crab boil with a side of turkey necks. Looked good in the bag. But was I SADLY MISTAKEN. Crab legs was over cooked. Never had shrimp with the head still attached. Plus, it was not Devine or cleaned at all. Broccoli was halfway cooked. Came with 2 corns, one old and one new. 2 potatoes, came overcooked, and you could have mashed with your fork. The sausage was ok, but spicy... OMG, on the seasoning... TOO MUCH OLD BAY and no other season. No type of buttersauce. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone at all. If you are a seafood lover, just as I am. It will be a waste of money.

Yelp
Oh, let me spill the shrimp-tastic beans about Mama Jane Seafood - it's a true seafood haven that tickled my taste buds and filled my belly with delight! First off, the owner, who's probably a long-lost relative of the friendliest crabs, was like a warm seafood hug on a chilly day. He welcomed me with open claws and made recommendations that rocked my seafood world! I took a plunge and ordered their shrimp boil - oh boy, it was an underwater fiesta! The shrimps were as fresh as a mermaid's breath and had this spicy kick that made my taste buds dance the salsa! Next up, the red beans and rice with fried shrimp - what can I say? It was an explosion of flavors, like a shrimp parade on a Mardi Gras float! And the cornbread and salad that came along were like the sea breeze, refreshing and oh-so-delicious! Now, let's talk about the turkey neck - it had me pecking away like a ravenous seabird! It was good, but let's be honest, it was like a salty sea adventure! But hey, even with all that saltiness, I couldn't resist gobbling it up - a true love-hate relationship! In a nutshell, Mama Jane Seafood is a seafood wonderland that will reel you in with its flavors. Despite the salty surprise with the turkey neck, I'm already planning my next seafood escapade at this place. So, if you're in the mood for a seafood fiesta, swim on over to Mama Jane's - it's worth every salty, spicy bite!

Yelp
Visited this place yesterday, on Valentine's Day around 5:45pm. I ordered the Snow Crab Plate online with a side of crawfish. On my way to the restaurant, the owner called to let me know they were out of snow crabs. He was willing to adjust my order so I got the shrimp plate, instead. I was acknowledged and greeted when I walked in the door, as was every other customer I saw. My food was ready when I arrived even with the adjustments. Let's get into the food! The shrimp bag came with plenty shrimp, broccoli, two pieces of corn, a few potatoes and a piece of sausage. I'm a geechie girl so I appreciated the freshness of the shrimp!! The food was seasoned well. It does have a little spice to it. The crawfish were good. They were smaller in size but I believe crawfish season is just beginning. I will be back! Overall good food and good service. Please check out this BLACK OWNED BUSINESS before the end of Black History Month!

Yelp
I'm only giving 3 stars based on my experience a year ago if not, I'd be giving this place a 1! The crawfish! Back then, it was far more flavorful, you can see the celery along with flavorful spices! Now the price has doubled. Seems like they used a boil in a bag seasoning from a local grocery store with nothing else. None of the typical celery, garlic, herbs and spices generally used in Louisiana crawfish boils.. It was over cooked. the crawfish kept sticking to the shell. Therefore it was hard to eat. I ended up throwing half away! The crawfish boudin! Just don't! It hardly had any crawfish! Straight rice and not flavorful at all. Just don't! Sausage! The only thing going for this place! This new experience was a total waste! The customer service has always been subpar. Ambiance bland. Menu not fully clear. My order total was 33 dollars just for 1lb of crawfish, crawfish Balls and 1 sausage. The quality and taste wasn't worth more than a happy meal from 1993.

Yelp
Mama Jane's Seafood is a hidden gem in the HEART of Atlanta if you're a seafood lover particularly crawfish. If you are a Louisiana/New Orleans native in Atlanta or surrounding area Mama Jane's seafood IS THAT SPOT to give you a fully authentic taste and culture of home. They over there doing their BIG ONE! Their Hot Sausage Po'boy & Shrimp platters SSSLAP‼

Yelp
I'm going to let the cat out of the bag, and put Atlanta on to the best creole food in the city. The absolute best crawfish and turkey necks. True New Orleans style. If you know, you know..and because I love this business and want them to be even more successful, I want to make sure everyone knows that Mama Jane's seafood is the best place to get crawfish in the city. Now, if you're used to getting really cheap crawfish from New Orleans' corner store markets, this place isn't going to have the same prices. They're going to be a lot higher. But the flavor is here. Sylvan Hills has a gem, so make sure to go and check them out.

Yelp
Finally felt like I was home when eating this crawfish! Living in Georgia eating New Orleans inspired food has been hit or miss; mostly misses but today I can finally say it was a hit! The crawfish was juicy and seasoned very well. My husband and I will return!

Yelp
I was craving food from home so my husband picked up some boiled crawfish with corn and smoked sausage, along with boudin balls. Let me just say, being from uptown New Orleans it is been hard to find authentic Louisiana-style boils crawfish out here because everything is drenched in garlic butter, BUT THIS PLACE HERE! *chef's kiss* This place was perfection. The crawfish was amazingly juicy and decadent. My goodness, I was in heaven. I absolutely loved the sides too, but the crawfish was the star. I will without doubt be back here to order more food because this place was just like home.

Yelp
I had the fish combo with the red beans and rice. I also ordered macaroni and cheese on the side. The fish was fried to perfection taste and seasoning. The red beans and rice as a side as was a little bland same with the macaroni. I also had a taste of the blue crab. It was seasoned but I added more seasoning into it and it was perfection. They do have a garlic butter sauce to dip in that was definitely good. They definitely need to keep an eye on their pastries as the pie had mold on it. That definitely had me questioning if I would return. But the staff was definitely a vibe they were nice and friendly just the staff alone would have me returning. They definitely gave that southern family welcoming upon arrival.

Yelp
Hands down the best fried fish I've ever had. Plus the owner so nice and provide great customer service. Try it for yourself.

Yelp
Best Crawfish I have had in Atlanta. Authentic New Orleans taste. Also had the fried shrimp! Delicious! Great service!

Savannah S.

Yelp
This place's professionalism is terrible. The place said it opened at 11:00 am so I placed my order at 11:12 am and drove to the place. I noticed there weren't any lights on and called the place. I didn't get an answer and began to drive home after waiting 20 minutes. They called me back and said that the place won't open until 1:00 pm when the website clearly states it opens at 11:00 am on Sundays. At 1:10, I drove back to the place and my food is still not ready. I waited ANOTHER 15 minutes and got my food at 1:30 pm. I will NEVER go back to this establishment again.

Bree S.

Yelp
Awesome! I love it here! Food is sooo good! Been a few times. Very consistent. My friend from New Orleans says it's just like home.

Nickster B.

Yelp
Is just like being home the crawfish is good the porous is good everything is good definitely recommend

Jae Y.

Yelp
Babyyyyyyy this food was the truth! I've been craving AUTHENTIC crawfish since my last trip to NOLA and that's exactly what I got! The food was delicious. I ordered 2lbs of crawfish and a side bag which came with 2 (half) corn cobs, 2 red potatoes, and a thick turkey sausage link. It was perfectly seasoned, and I could tell the crawfish was fresh, and not previously frozen. It was truly, *chefs kiss*. I also ordered a "swamp" to drink, it was pineapple lemonade and strawberry lemonade mixed together. The people working were very polite. The restaurant had parking outside and a small dining area inside. I will absolutely, most definitely be back.

Adam R.

Yelp
The food is great but the old lady behind the counter makes you want to not get anything. She answers every question with a question and does it very rude. I highly recommend leaving her in the back if she can cook because her customer service skills will end up getting you guys shut down. As a pilar in the local community i highly recommend a customer service training course before she causes you to lose out on customers

Yem B.

Yelp
The Best Authentic New Orleans Seafood in Atlanta! Be prepared to eat like the locals all the way in Atlanta.I felt like I was transported to New Orleans at my favorite seafood with my family! love the establishments story and family roots! Staff/Owners are extremely friendly and hospitable! Seafood is always hot and fresh! They have a little bit of everything for everyone! Don't think about it, just go and you won't eat seafood from anywhere else!

Gwangi T.

Yelp
this place was the worst seafood ever I have never dealt with such unprofessional people in my life their food was cold and to spice they didn't give butter or lemons order a 85.00 worth of seafood just to throw in the trash

Kendra W.
