The 20 Best Bakeries In Paris 2024

"This women-run boulangerie with locations in the 9th and 10th arrondissements may not provide the Art Deco atmosphere you want for your grid, but their bread and pastries are some of the best in town—especially the babka and cinnamon bun, which other more traditional institutions don’t often make. Go after breakfast but before lunch (around 10:30am is good) and grab a turkey sandwich on a brioche bun and at least one of the €1 cream-stuffed choux before heading to the canal to chow down. And yes, the line is worth it." - sara lieberman, emily monaco

The 12 Best Croissants In Paris

"Join the omnipresent line that wraps around the corner at this SoPi bakery, and anticipate the show: Behind the glass windows tumble an array of shiny brioche buns, chocolate-scented babka, and pillowy croissant clouds big enough you’ll need two hands to hold them, and rich enough that they’ll leave your fingers as shiny as the gilded statues on Pont Alexandre III. You’re here for the croissant but don’t skip the cinnamon roll. It's one of the only ones in Paris worthy of the name, and so aromatic it practically has cartoon aroma trails. You’ll also find them all at Mamiche’s 10th arrondissement location steps from the covered Saint-Martin market." - emily monaco

Mamiche Review - 9th Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"This women-run boulangerie with locations in the 9th and 10th arrondissements is newer, and while it may not provide the Art Deco atmosphere you want for your grid, their bread and pastries are some of the best in town—especially the babka and cinnamon bun, which other, more traditional institutions don’t often make. The 15 Best Bread Bakeries in Paris - Eater

"You’ll likely encounter a line when visiting the original bakery outpost of Cécile Khayat and Victoria Effantin’s wildly popular Mamiche bakery, but the wait is worth it. Using natural leaven, Mamiche’s breads are excellent, from the hearty pain de campagne to the lightweight pain de mie, as well as a traditional “miche Mamiche.” Don’t miss the babkas and viennoiserie, too. You can’t go wrong with any of it." - Dayna Evans

Google
Finally got to try Mamiche! We went overly excited and picked up a lot of pastries to try. Their croissant is very buttery, not flaky tho, but the butter flavor yum! We enjoyed the choux pastry as well. Definitely recommend!

Nice bakery in Paris! I wanna buy everything! Come early in the morning so you get the breads really fresh! Location: It is located around 45 Rue Condorcet. It’s just a bakery with no seating inside. Great display of breads and pastries! You would want to buy everything. I came early and there was no line. Service: not much interaction, just pay and go. Food: Everything was good and fresh! CROISSANT: so flaky and soft inside! Best I had!! And it was huge! BABKA: another favorite! The chocolate inside is not too sweet! They weigh it so depends on how heavy it is that is what you are going to pay. PAN AU CHOCOLAT: well its like croissant combined with babka. The bread is flaky with bits of that chocolate. Price rating: 6/10. It was not expensive. Definitely will come back to try other breads and pastries they have.

Google
Wow that croissant was phenomenal! So buttery and flakey! My favorite croissant in Paris thus far! I wish I had room to eat 10 at a time. That chocolate chip cookie was a great sweet treat. Chewy and chocolatey goodness. I love a cookie with a great chew.

Be prepared to wait in line because locals and tourists alike know that Mamiche has some of the best baked goods in Paris. The buttery scent of the croissant draws you in and you are greeted with a flaky crunch as you bite into it. It is freshly baked and your senses know it. Everything you order will deliver a similar sense of satisfaction so get there early before they run out of your favorite items.

If you’re a fan of croissants and bakery, this place is a must to stop by, reachable and walkable from tourist attraction in Montmartre. Warm aroma of fresh bread, cookie and coffee will greet you right after you get through the door. Bakers were baking, and they’re happy to recommend. If you come to Montmartre, it’s very easy to come to Mamiche. Along the way walking down the hill, you will enjoy building and architecture.

Google
Heard that this had the best croissant in Paris so obviously had to come check it out. The place was easy to find. There was a line outside, but I got in after around 10 minutes. Everything inside looked and smelt delicious. There are no tables so you just pick things to-go. I bought The croissant (1.40€) and a cookie (3.60€). The croissant was everything I hoped it would be, soft but with a bit of a crunch on the outside, big and fluffy, easy to pull apart and so very amazing. The cookie was soft and chocolate-y but maybe not as gooey as I was expecting. Still very delicious and definetly enough to satisfy the sweet tooth. Would recommend this place for everyone and I will definetly go back to try more of their pastries.

Google
One of the best bakeries in Paris offering typical French bread & viennoiserie items (croissant, pain au chocolat, sandwiches, etc.). Definitely the best viennoiserie in this part of town. The choux a la vanille, pain auc amandes and the roulé au jambon et fromage are a must try! Highly recommended.

Google
I wanted to go there because it was highly recommended. The line moved quickly. filter coffee was delicious. I tried plain croissant and the pain suisse. The croissant was tasty, but I didn’t like the pain suisse. It looked messy and unrefined. chocolate was intense, but there was no other noticeable flavor. The layers felt too thick. If you’ve come to Paris, you can give it a try for sure.

Yelp
This spot was one of our favorite bakeries we visited during our time in Paris!! It's a cute bakery thats pretty small so its a grab and go situation. There was a long line out the door that moved pretty quick. Our favorite was the cream filled pastry and the croissant!! I'd go out of my way to visit this spot if you're a pastry lover!!!

Yelp
Absolutely some of the most amazing bread you can find in Paris. I came here in the afternoon expecting everything to be sold out but they actually had a big selection. It was a no brainer to choose a sandwich & a sweet pastry. I know it sounds really plain but a French baguette, butter, meat, cheese & mustard really makes one of the best sandwiches you can have. I definitely devoured that! The pastries were also very delicious. We ended up ordering pain chocolate & cinnamon croissant. All freshly baked all equally delicious!

Yelp
We had daily croissants and mamiche was by far our favorite. It was so buttery and flavorful. This was the most recommended croissant and we felt it was worthy of the hype and the line we waited in. Can't wait to return on my next visit to Paris.

Yelp
Last day in France and I found this bakery that was a must before we left. I was looking for THE best chocolate croissant and regular croissant of our three week trip...I FOUND IT! We also grabbed a couple of jamon and fromage pinwheels to take to the airport for our "lunch". It was amazing. I walked down the streets of Paris exclaiming that "my life is now complete", to which my husband balked "wasn't that the day you married me?" Ha! Yes, yes it was...until this croissant ;) There will be a line. It will be worth the wait. They are patient yet efficient, so pick your items as you wait and be ready to point when it is your turn. Oh, I also got one last petite baguette...also, delicious. You really can't go wrong with whatever you get. If you are in the area, I HIGHLY recommend. Enjoy!

Yelp
Food: One of the better croissants in Paris as it was more buttery, but I have to say I had better in the States which is so disappointing. I was hoping this would be my all-time fav bakery in Paris, but my hunt continues. Service: Very friendly staff and fast service. Ambiance: It's a very small bakery, so expect a line outside. However, the line moves fasts.

Yelp
Line was out of the door, but moved pretty quickly. Small shop. The sandwiches, the plain croissant, pain au chocolate, and donuts were eaten over the course of a week in Paris and were all incredible. A must visit.

Yelp
I had heard about Mamiche and made a point to stop by after seeing the Basilique, which I'm so glad that we did. There were only a few people ahead of us, but I highly recommend to wait, if there's a line. We had ordered the ham and cheese baguette with pickles, which was amazing. It's big enough to share, if you don't want to eat it all. We also had the donut filled with chocolate, which was delish. Definitely make this a place to stop by. The boulangerie is small, so take the food and sit at one of the small parks nearby.

Yelp
Small place but the line goes by super fast!! The croissant was so buttery and flaky!! My boyfriend loved it. I got the ham and cheese croissant and it was delicious! Must try!

Yelp
The line was out the door for this small bakery, but service was inordinately fast. I ordered a slice of chocolate babka (charged by kg), a beignet filled with vanilla custard, and a pain au chocolate; my favorites are also in that order, respectively. I bought the pastries in the early afternoon, and they likely weren't as fresh as their morning versions. However, the chocolate babka was truly outstanding.

Yelp
You always get told how you have to have a pain au chocolat when you visit Paris, and you might not understand the hype until you have had the perfect one. And I must say: Mamiche is doing an excellent job representing the delight that is a true Parisian pain au chocolat. I waited in a line that moved fairly quickly to get one, and stepped out to take a bite. The golden, buttery, yet perfectly flaky exterior sent me to orbit. There was also just enough of the delicious chocolate inside to satisfy my sweet craving. I would've captured a picture, but I ate it far too quickly! Needless to say, I will be returning on my next trip to Paris

Yelp
Or walking around the Sacré Coeur and stopped in for a quick croissant and pain au chocolate. Both were very tasty. There was a bit of a wait, but the line moved quickly and they were very efficient. The iced coffees washed down the pastry nicely. We saw a number of locals coming out with multiple baguettes so you know it's good.

Yelp
Very mediocre, both the babka & pinwheel. Greasy & flavorless, not impressed. I expected more

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place but I did not like anything I got here. There was a line to order and the 2 items I got were not good. Perhaps I didn't order the right items.

Yelp
visited mamiche twice during my three day trip to paris! a lot of people rave about their croissants and baked goods being some of the best in paris so i had to go and check it out for myself! // location/store // located a bit away from the center of the city, but i was staying close to mamiche. the shop is small and on a corner, i went once on wednesday ~4pm and there was no queue (some pastries were sold out but still had a lot of options) and once on saturday ~11:00am (small line but goes quite fast since they are efficient). all of the pastries and baked goods are on display and there are many employees to help you (they speak English). there is also a 3 euro card minimum but that is not hard to meet! // pain au chocolate (1.60) // i tried this twice! i ate them later in the day so they got a bit hard, but in the morning they are more fresh and light. they also are very buttery (you really can taste it). i felt that they are lacking in the chocolate filling though since there was little in it. // chocolate babka (2.80) // all of the reviews raved about the babka so i had to try it! you can get a whole loaf or also pay by the slice. we got a small slice for around 2.80. i really liked it! it was chocolate marble and reminded me of chocolate raisin bread i had as a kid. i've never had babka before but it was quite yummy. overall, a friendly boulangerie with lots of pastries and good prices. everything looks delicious and fresh. would go back again!

Yelp
Solid pastries in a busy area at the typical French prices for baked goods. Service was fast and friendly and my lack of speaking French didn't hinder my ability to communicate my desires to the staff. Smells inside are free and delicious. Enjoy!
google avatar

Vicki A.

Yelp
Although the line was out the door and around the corner their service was so fast that you may even ask for more time just to be able to look at all the beautiful pastries they have to offer. Everything tasted so amazing and the interior was also cute and cozy.

Yelp
This place blew me away. The quality of the ingredients is just superb. The strawberry jam inside the donut is pure art. Not overly sweet and fresh. The donut dough smells like you landed in yeasty heaven. And it's light & fluffy. The baguette and croissants were phenomenal. I definitely overate, but I didn't feel bloated or stuffed. That means they do things the right way, with high quality ingredients and proper fermentation which requires the precious element of time. Something industrial products can't match. Everything screams quality and tradition. But when it comes to service they are fast and efficient. I need this bakery in my backyard in the US, please.

Yelp
We got the croissant, Babka, baguette sandwich,, brioche. The croissant was so nice and buttery and yummy! Highly recommend. But the baguette sandwich. Oh my god. So simple yet good. The meat was good paired with the Dijon mustard and the pickles. The bread was perfect, not too hard and stale and not too soft. The person helping us was so kind and patient. And the area and how the shop is positioned is so comfortable and welcoming.

Dawn D.

Yelp
Amazing fruit-filled bread that you buy by the slice! Like raisin bread, only with a variety of dried fruits.
google avatar

Yelp
Great jambon beurre, poulet de roti, crossiants, coffees. Busy but they serve quickly. They speak English. Must try!
google avatar

Yelp
I never had better strawberries beignets in my life. Not too sweet, fresh tasting, and generously stuffed.

Yelp
Such a wonderful little boulangerie on the corner of a Montmarte street. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious along with the croissants, brioche, and coffee which gave us a warm sensation of homeliness. You could tell this place was good with all the locals that came to eat here, we enjoyed every bit.

Yelp
Loved it! Food was always fresh and great flavors!! My French is non-existing and they were always able to understand me -LOL.

Yelp
Absolute best bakery, everything is fresh & delicious. Might be a bit of a wait but it is worth it I promise you. Friendly and helpful staff. Even play great music!

Mercedes T.

Yelp
Delicious croissants, pain au chocolat, and baguette. Favorite pastries we had while in Paris.

Gerry L.

Yelp
I was told they were the best, they were not. Sacre bleu! There are much better options around, not fluffy and not warm !

Yelp
Back from a 10-day trip. Not much of a reviewer but I am writing 2, one for the best experience and one for the worst. Mamiche gets the one for the best. Fortunately, I found this place the day before me and my family left Paris otherwise we would all have gained a lot more weight and diabetes. We got a baguette, pain au chocolat, butter croissant and cinnamon (canele) bun. All items were all the best of the City, and we went to many different boulangeries/patisseries and craft coffee shops that serve pastries. We were excited to go on our last day but they are closed on Sunday and Mondays ;(
