The Best Tomato Pies In Philly, Ranked

"Marchiano’s tomato pies have that thin, sponge-like crust action going on in the center. But it’s almost like they gave the edges a dough BBL. Long story short, the crusts are big-time bready. These only come as a half or whole pie, but one chomp of the bright, garlicky sauce will make you want way more than a single slice anyway. Bring cash to this Manayunk spot, or hit up the ATM inside." - candis mclean

A Roxborough/Manayunk institution. Great for a breakfast bread, or a quick lunch or dinner, but a must when my kids come home to visit "Can we get some Marchiano's?" Stuffed breads with our favorites being the pepper, egg and cheese, and the steak or chicken steak - with sauce and onions. But sometimes switch it up with one of the many other combos they offer. Just great flavors, never been disappointed.

I had to try this place in my daughter's neighborhood. Everything was very good BUT tomato pie was like a big sheet of bread with sauce on it and Parmigiano on it. Was good but. Ok I am used to Frank Pepe tomato pie. If you've ever had it you would know what I mean. The other things I got, the bread, the broccoli, the cheesesteak, and the pepperoni, were all great. I only spent 56.00 I think so that's a deal. I took most of it home but husband had no interest in tomato pie.

Eating this for over 40 years, the taste hasn't changed one bit! Best in the city hands down! Can't go wrong with any choice you make here!

If it’s good enough for Frank Sinatra, it’s good enough for me! A staple of the area, here you will find Philly’s most iconic tomato pie! Fresh and delicious, with reliably consistent sweet garlic tomato sauce that will transport you to nirvana every time you have a bite of this mouth watering goodness. Prepare to be satisfied! Service is welcoming and friendly, and I haven’t been disappointed to date. Whether you are coming from out of town or another part of the city, you’ll be glad you did! Be mindful the tomato pies come in half or whole - no buy by the slice here (but honestly how could you buy just one slice?!), and be aware CASH ONLY!

I love this place, the stuffed breads are absolutely delicious, tomato pies are on point and in expensive. Definitely a local staple spot. Been going here for over 7 years.

Moved away from the area 8 years ago and recently visited and had to stop here. Parking is still terrible but totally worth the frustration. Was sorry to hear that the one of the original founders passed in 2024 but the food was still as good as ever. Love their homemade spinach bread, pepperoni bread and of course the best tomato pie ever! This is pick up only. No seating. The tomatoes pie is ready to eat but the specialty breads need to be heated in oven (preferred) or microwave. Still worth it. Once their stuff sells out they are done so call ahead to make sure they have what you want.

The tomatoe pie was banging as always, but today we got the pepperoni bread and I just have to ask what kind of Italian person uses American Cheese on their pepperoni bread!? Blegh so gross. I'm sure it would be awesome with mozzarella but I can't give 5 stars for American cheese on Italian food.

Stopped in for the first time a few weeks ago after a bike ride. Hands down my new favorite red pie! The sauce is perfect, not sweet, really flavorful. I got the original pie but would love to try another variation and the breads in the future. Service was excellent, thank you!
