Nashville Restaurants React to Downtown Weekend Protests Against Police Brutality - Eater Nashville

Honestly, it’s a great spot. The live music was amazing. Food and drinks delicious. The bartenders were some of the best I’ve ever had. But the managers? Absolutely awful. They interrupted our meal, attempted to take credit for every drink that came to us from the bartenders, and tried to throw themselves into everything others did. Not a fan of that. Give those bartenders their due credit, because they are amazing. Again, managers wanted to “be the ones” who did everything. It’s also evident they don’t prioritize the things that matter. Their way or the highway (which doesn’t work), And they always tried to do everything and take away credit as soon as they could. Not a fan of the managers.

Margaritaville Restaurant in Nashville offers a fun, laid-back atmosphere with live music, tropical vibes, and classic Southern hospitality. The menu features a mix of island-inspired dishes and American favorites, with the burgers and margaritas being standout choices. Service is friendly, though it can get busy, especially on weekends. The lively atmosphere makes it a great spot for groups and tourists looking for a taste of Jimmy Buffett’s island lifestyle in the heart of Music City. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ (5/5)

Google
Cool location, food was pretty good. Easily accommodates a large group, and right in the heart of Broadway. Staff was very nice, food coming out was in the slow side though. It was quieter than most restaurants which was nice. They had live music at the front, which played in the corner of every TV.

Google
Great service. But, please post the prices of the meals on your online menu. A friend looked up the menu and ordered the item togo. When the check came we were shocked that 2 items cost $61 for a restaurant on Broadway. Normally I wouldn't care, but judge for yourself. Management eventually took the uneaten item off. The live music, service and atmosphere were excellent.

Google
Service is the worst part about this. We got seated pretty quickly but the waitress did not acknowledge us. She stopped and said she would be right back. Then was gone for awhile. Tried again and said she was coming back after taking plates back. It was just over 20 minutes before we were even getting our drink order in, so we put everything in. Food was not that warm. I had to raise my hand just to get a refill on pop. She never checked in with us throughout our time there. We had to ask to pay our bill and she couldn't get the machine to work, barely even showed me the cost. Then as we were leaving, I stopped to tell a manager, who was not seen during the time there, that the service was horrible. He just said sorry and did not care a bit. Not worth going here. Save your money and try another place on Broadway or even away from Broadway.

Google
Anne was our server and she was fantastic! Extremely energetic and friendly. She really helped to make the experience a great one. Thanks again Anne!

Google
This was my first time at Margaritaville! The atmosphere was inviting and upbeat. They even had a young woman singing live music. She had a beautiful voice and was playing a great set of songs! My only complaint was that the volume of the music was loud enough that it was a bit overbearing and took away from my ability to enjoy the overall experience. If it had just been turned down a little bit, it would have been perfect 👌 The service was wonderful. Ms. Victoria took care of us and was very attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, particularly the southwest egg rolls! Ending at the gift shop was a nice treat, and I love my t-shirt. You can't go wrong at Margaritaville!

My friends and I are visiting for our friends 21st and we’re so excited to hit Margaritaville in Nashville! Unfortunately the service was not the best and we were not being taken care of even though we were 1 of 4 tables sat upstairs. We ordered the fried pickles and there were about 20 of the smallest sliced pickles topped onto a bed of lettuce to make it look more full, and this was just the first thing we were upset about. One of our friends was complaining about the Hot honey chicken sandwich being slimy and gross.. come to find out, the chicken was raw!! Like not pink or undercooked, completely raw. The other burgers we ordered were not good and the chicken on the chicken sandwich was green and the fries were literally cold. we asked our server, Corey, for the manager and he was very nonchalant about the situation and avoided the table and made uncomfortable. The manager said “sorry for the inconvenience” as he avoided all eye contact and took the plate away pretty fast. So now one of my friends has gotten something from the raw chicken and has been puking for hours. We are so disappointed with this experience. I do not recommend!!

Yelp
Great music from Jessica Rose. Our server Anne was amazing.... Very attentive and the food was super yummy. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We went for drinks only so I can't rate the food although it looked pretty good. We were in the bar area just relaxing a bit from the chaos on Broadway. There was a woman singing with a guitar - she was quite good and everyone was really nice to us. Drinks were what I'd expect from Margaritaville - fruity, sweet and pretty simple. No problems with that!

Yelp
The food was decent we had the trip sampler. The spinach artichoke was good, eggrolls were dry, and chicken tenders didn't taste like tenders. The $7 margaritas were a little salty but ok. The waitress was horribly rude and gave us looks. Not sure why we were just ordering some drinks and apps, don't know what I could have done to offend her. The music was good and the place was somewhat clean (dirt utensils left on the table.) Didn't give any napkins or plates either. Wouldn't bother coming here. 2 start only because the food was ok

Marilynn M.

Yelp
The worse place we have ever stayed!! The room was disgusting the linens probably hadn't been cleaned in looked like years!!! The pool was filthy! The restaurant is another story, we literally sat for 45min before we even got service, then another 45min for food, and there were only 3 other people in the whole restaurant!!! Do Not Recommend anyone to go here!! If I could give -0 that's what I would give!!
google avatar

Yelp
Very cool setup and ambiance. Live music and plenty of tables. Upstairs there is some theater seating with HUGE screen for live sports. Many screens upstairs and cooler temp. Service was very good. Food was decent. You will get a good meal, but we didn't get anything that was a revelation. We didn't have any alcohol, but with so many varieties of margaritas and drinks, I'm sure that is a bonus. I'd go back.

Yelp
11/17/23: After days of meat eating my body needed something light. Aka seafood. Decided to have dinner at Margaritaville. Great choice. Of course busy with about a 30minite wait or if space at the bar. Lucky for us we snagged he last 2 seats. Of course live band performing. By now we were a bit tired and just wanted to eat and return to hotel. My friend ordered the gumbo and I did teriyaki chicken shrimp with white rice and broccoli. Exaaaaactly what I needed. Small portion of rice shrimp and chicken breast and I ordered a side of avocado. Consumed half and took the remainder back to hotel. Same as chain restaurants go. Pleasant bartenders and lively atmosphere.of course as we were almost done and ready to head out received text our table was ready. All in all good meal, vibes and service. As with all the restaurants and bar there is a merch store.

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Will never go back. I was loyal to Margaritavilles brand for years. They kicked me out because I didn't dig the solo artist that was there so I put in my headphones. Maybe if they had more customers they wouldn't notice what I do. If it was between starving and eating here I'd just starve.
google avatar

Joanna B.

Yelp
A great Broadway dinner option. Make sure to go to the second floor bar to the right and see Alyssa. She's great and has on point suggestions. The hot honey chicken sandwich is amazing. The vibes are great overall. If you can make the Christmas pop up, do it!!!!

Yelp
The sports bar upstairs was not crowded at all. We were served by Lauren who was also the bartender. We ordered the quesadilla appetizer and a coconut shrimp. Which took a hour to come and our entrees at the same time. The food was good but the kitchen was to slow for the amount of people who were in the restaurant. It was Lauren's fault. And she was apologetic for the wait the food was ok nothing special overall disappointing.
google avatar

Stacy A.

Yelp
I was a bit hesitant to go to a chain while in downtown Nashville. I can't say it was anything special, but I did enjoy the acoustic music as compared to the super loud plugged in music in most other places. The drinks were good but this place is really lacking in ambience, very much looks like an Applebees on the inside.

Yelp
On our girls trip we eat! Ambiance and service: So the spot we wanted to dine was super booked and they didn't allow reservations so we walked further down Broadway and decided to try here and we were able to be seated within a reasonable window of time. Listened to a band while we waited which was nice Our waiter was nice and attentive and moved pretty quickly to get our beverages and food orders. Food: (2.5/5) not the worst for but definitely not the best. I ordered the appetizer trio to include Hand-Battered Chicken Tenders (the batter gave McDonald's nuggets) , Caribbean Chicken Egg Rolls (not crispy and semi flavorful), and Spinach & Artichoke Dip (it gave very refrigerated not flavorful). Uggh I wanted to like it, I see their frozen seafood options in Kroger's. Idk on this one my fellow Yelpers.

Yelp
I'm known for my positive reviews but I cannot not share this experience. We chose Margaritaville because it was 8pm and my daughter is 18 but had great regret. Our waiter introduced himself as Cody but his tag said Samuel and lacked any friendliness. The band playing Friday, 11/22 was really really bad. I could skip all of that but the food was terrible. Our son got the bacon burger and bacon was missing. I got the coconut shrimp and it had no flavor. My daughter got a standard burger and took one bite and said it tasted weird. Within hours, she was so sick all night. Consider many other great options. The cleanliness of the restaurant tables and floor were also nasty. Positive- the bouncer and gentleman hostess were both VERY kind and friendly.
google avatar

Dee C.

Yelp
I was only in here briefly for a shot, but it was a vibe. Lots of people are music playing people jumping. And though there were a bunch of people, the bartender was on his game because I didn't sit there for more than 20 seconds before he came to check on me. That was with a bar full of people
google avatar

Brooke N.

Yelp
So we have been coming here for the past 6 years (minus 2020) and this year was different. To get upstairs you have to get a wrist band and they give them out at 11am. The lady checking wrists was beyond ignorant and was yelling at people bc they didn't understand why they couldn't get upstairs. It's now just been too much. Security everywhere and drinks are the most expensive here than anywhere else. Hardy showed up which was def cool and some new artist Greyson James.

Yelp
Saturday afternoon bar visit review Parrot Head for life. Anytime were anywhere and there is a Mville, 100% going to it. Live musician was fantastic and played a great variety of beach style music. Felt like a Sunday-funday relaxation while enjoying loaded landsharks. Meanwhile people watching the chaos just outside the building. Store has a good selection of merch Not 5/5 because we were hassled by bartender for ordering at the bar instead of using our server. If we had a server it was never made clear. We initially ordered drinks from bar and then moved to a table which the bar tender said we could just grab and stand/sit at. We had a nice lady clean our table, but never did she check on us to see if we needed additional drinks, so we just assumed you ordered from the bar. Not upset, though the approach on how we were told could be improved, but we would have totally ordered from our server if we were made aware that we were suppose to. You definitely have a license to chill a this Mville in Nashville. Bubbles up Jimmy, Bubbles up.

Yelp
We walked to Broadway Street from the shuttle drop-off, looking for food. Everywhere else, the lines were pretty long, but not here! We were seated in about 5 minutes. The vibe is like any other Margaritaville, I would imagine. The food was delicious, and the appetizer trio was the best! Oh, and let's not forget the drinks! My blueberry pom was strong enough just for me to only had one. I can't wait to head to Nashville and eat here again.

Emma D.

Yelp
The time it took for us to get our food was ridiculous! Once we got our food it was bare minimum. No seasoning and not much effort seem to be but into it. Not the fault of the staff maybe. Whoever owns this place needs to figure it out.
google avatar

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Service is friendly but food was downright embarrassing to let dinner guests eat. Frozen fish wedges (Gorton's?) and shoe leather chicken. Apparently, only frozen broccoli is an option under "chef's choice of steamed vegetable medley".
google avatar

Kaila T.

Yelp
I was in town for a bachelorette weekend and we decided to venture here for some good food and vibes. The place wasn't super crowded despite it being a busy Friday night in the summer. Our server was super patient and helpful. Since we had large party some people was not sure what they wanted. It took a minute to get food orders in but we all got the 20 oz margaritas. The appetizers that I shared with friends were good. What I didn't necessary care for is people who are vendors trying to sell you something under the guise of it being free. A young woman came up to us to say "I can take your photo & give you a free portrait". Of course it wasn't free and it's just a marketing tactic to get more money from you. Once she came back with bigger pictures those were for purchase while the small Polaroid was for free. If you don't wish to be haggle simply tell the person/rep NO to avoid being sold something you don't want.

Yelp
We went to the gift shop in a good mood, saw beer koosies for $10 a pop. Expensive? Yes, but we were in a good state of mind looking to buy some souvenirs for our friends and family! We are at the register checking out for a bill of over $150 for our little trinkets. The man behind the counter says, "Since you spent over 150 dollars, you get this souvenir towel" at this point we start cheering with joy! A small victory, that we gladly accept! It was at this point that he interrupts our cheers, to say "For 15 dollars." Not a nice feeling. Look, it's about the way this all went down that ended up leaving a bad taste in our mouths.

Yelp
I've been to multiple locations and this one is definitely my favorite. The live music was so good. The food and drinks came out quickly, and the staff were so friendly. Our waiter was very on top of all of her tables, especially ours. I love the way this was decorated and all of the energy here.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
Ordered the cheese burger. It was good. Justin my server/bartender was so lovely and recommended a few places off Broadway for me( which was a nice change of scenery ) It seems like an older crowd kinda place but it was perfect for my first drink/meal of the day
google avatar

Macy S.

Yelp
I'm sorry Mr Buffett I was so disappointed when I finally got the chance to eat at a Margaritaville. The menu was fairly limited, I decided on the coconut shrimp. They didn't taste like much, and as a sauce-lover, I was disappointed in the dipping sauce. 5 shrimp were on top of a plateful of fries - those weren't even good fries
google avatar

Terra S.

Yelp
What is not to like about Margaritaville?! Great food, great music, great service, great ambience, and even this place has a decent bar scene. Our bartender was super sweet and quick. They also have some cute souvenirs that you can buy. I just love that there's a Margaritaville on Broadway Street in the middle of the bar scenes in Nashville.! I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Brandy B.

Yelp
Average experience at Margaritaville. Food was okay, service was slow. Room for improvement.
google avatar

Kris K.

Yelp
I recently visited Margaritaville from recommendation from a close friend. When visiting I encountered a few issues with my order. Least to say the manager on duty Mario. He was super-nice and respectful. He fixed the issue instantly, and made my wife and I night complete. Im a business owner myself, and I fore-surely would have him managing any one of my stores!!! Whenever we're in town, we're coming back to the restaurant for food, drinks and Mario, haha! Good Job man!!!

Yelp
Had a party of 6 and stopped by for a quick lunch while on broadway. We went around 1pm and it wasn't too packed. They had live music that we enjoyed. I had the jambalaya and it was tasty. We also had the cheeseburger with fries, it was very good. Service was a little slow but they didn't have many people on staff. Overall would recommend for something casual

Joan R.

Yelp
Sat at the bar. Horrible service and the place wasn't busy. Grand Margarita not good. Do not recommend this place.
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
The setup is not ideal if you want to see the live music while you eat. The food was fine, though nothing too memorable. Location is good as it's right on the main strip. Our server was great and attentive. Options are limited when you have kids. Was nice that they had a table for 6 so overall we were happy with the meal.
google avatar

Thomas T.

Yelp
Didn't have a whole lot of time to hangout in Nashville but since this was the day Jimmy died I had to show up. They were packed like everywhere else. A toast to Jimmy was being raised as I walked in timed perfectly. The bar was packed and the service seemed back up typical for a a super busy Saturday. I just came in to buy one margarita and toast to the life of a man who influenced so many. R.I.P JIMMY!!
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
I love Jimmy Buffet but this Margaritaville was not the best. The pickle chips we got were cold when they came out, and the margaritas were served in small plastic cups (I don't really think the marg was worth $12). Servais was great, but the food was sub-par. RIP Jimmy.
google avatar

Macy W.

Yelp
No clue why they thought putting this place on broadway. Nonetheless, I got 2 appetizers and a key lime pie. The nachos were okay but the toppings were all on the outside so there were a lot of chips that didn't have anything on it. The sampler was grosssssss. The chicken tenders were absolutely amazing, but the egg rolls were so freezer burnt oh my gosh! The spinach dip was so bad and tasted microwaved. I don't know how this place is in business! 2 stars because the bartenders were very kind.
google avatar

William F.

Yelp
The portions are OUTSTANDING! Do not bypass this stop. We sat in the back without the live music and didn't miss anything. Very good spot for casual conversation.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
We actually didn't make it to our table. We stopped in night of May 25th around 11 or so. The two girl hostesses were extremely rude to me. I was willing to deal with it and let it be because our group was hungry & ready to chill for a minute, but when my friends saw them laughing and making more comments we walked out.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
I decided on a last minute solo birthday trip to Nashville and booked this hotel through a 3rd party site. The hotel opened in late 2020 and it's clear that this hotel is new and in excellent condition. I didn't partake in all that the hotel has to offer and on a warmer trip I definitely would have. I didn't see the rooftop pool or visit the restaurant downstairs. There just wasn't enough time! For those of us who aren't super big jimmy buffet fans, don't worry. It's not over the top! In fact, it's more the spirit of "margharitaville" than it is the actual songs. My room was so comfortable. Their bathroom producers smell like your favorite childhood sunscreen (in a good way. I loved it). The staff are helpful and professional. The location is ideal for anything you'd want to do downtown. Walking or Uber-ing. I'd absolutely stay here again when I come back to visit!

Robert H.

Yelp
First time visiting a Margaritaville and I was less than impressed with the food. It was overpriced for the quality and the beer was flat and warm. Do yourself a favor and just go to a Applebees and save yourself $50 and you won't know the difference and your beer will be cold.
google avatar

Libby V.

Yelp
It was hot and the drinks were cold. And good...oh so good. I had a Mango Margarita and my friend had a Strawberery Margarita. Also some Spinach/Artichoke dip which was yummy and gave us the strength to carry on. The Buffet music was entertaining, and service was outstanding. Paying a premium, but it was fun, and girls just wanta have fun!
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Nothing better than boat drinks, good food, and jimmy buffet songs playing in the background when the live band took a break.
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
This place is great for the tourist. In the downstairs bar there was a pretty good band playing live music and covers. Sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks while waiting to get upstairs for a live Sirrus XM show called Music City Happy Hour that my buddy wanted to check out. I guess he listens to it all the time in California. It was alright. They had a number of guests come on and play which was pretty cool, but it was packed and there was no place to sit and really enjoy the show. I guess if I was more into the show I may have enjoyed it more, but glad my friend got to experience it
google avatar

Sheena M.

Yelp
Our party of six was seated immediately at 5pm on a Friday night. Service was okay. Two of our meals were forgotten and no one came to check on us until they were bringing the bill. Food was not great and pretty pricy. Drinks were good but $17.50 for a small plastic cup. Restrooms were pretty gross. The gift shop is cute. Overall would not go back or recommend.

Sheila G.

Yelp
Corey was absolutely awesome as a server. Wonderful! Thank you for the hospitality from Margaritaville!!!
google avatar

Lee S.

Yelp
We are so sad to report everything from the food and service to the music and bar were meh, at best. The service was terrible. The two musicians were butchering Buffett songs. The food was fine, but nothing special.
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
Jane is awesome! Great first stop of many! In town for a concert and she started us off right!
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Spent last Friday afternoon upstairs at Margaritaville for the SiriusXM Highway Happy Hour. Our waitress Jeri was THE BEST! We had wonderful service, drinks and appetizers. The bartenders were top notch even with the high volume of people there my cocktail was perfectly made & Jeri kept us stocked with buckets of beer all afternoon. Highly recommend!

Cass L.

Yelp
Awful food. We had to send our tacos back, they were inedible. Cold, dry, missing the sauce and guacamole that's supposed to come on top. When we got the sauce and guacamole, those were also cold. So basically cold condiments on cold food. They took it off our bill and brought chips and salsa instead. Cold chips, the salsa was from a jar, the queso was from a jar and bland. Literally couldn't even eat the chips and dip from this place... Nothing here is prepared fresh. It's all prepackaged, pre-cooked cold garbage. The talent they had playing live was terrible too. Way too slow and mellow. It was actually sad being here. You'd think they would have their A game considering it's 4th of July weekend. Nope. I had a dirty used silverware still on the table. A cherry stem from an eaten cherry. Disgusting. Our waiter was nice, but also had the vibe of like "yeah so sorry, it's terrible here I know" poor dude.

Jessica M.

Yelp
It was a super cute bar upstairs great live music! The drinks were tasty but I ordered a drink that stated it had watermelon puree and it just tasted like watermelon pucker. The burger was not good at all.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Low-Key kinda expensive especially for a family outing. Food was not that great either. Subpar at most. Also $13 for a small margarita:/
google avatar

Lou G.

Yelp
Just what you expect from this good chain. Good service at the bar and tasty food. We had lava shrimp and chicken and shrimp teriyaki. Both were good. Bartender was helpful and friendly. Solo guitar players entertained us while we were there
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
We came here for music row happy hour and had a great time. Javelin (sorry if I misspelled her name) was so friendly and attentive, and was able to give recommendations for other places to check out. The food was great, it wasn't too crowded, and it was a wonderful time.
