Google
The empanadas were absolutely delicious—beautifully crafted and even stamped with the name, which added such a professional touch. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with decor that perfectly complemented the overall vibe. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly helpful and informative. We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this place to anyone! ❤️

I am still eating my food, but I couldn’t wait to post a review! I am visiting Denver for the weekend and decided to give this place a try. I am so glad that I gave it a shot. I ordered the beef and the ham&cheese empanadas. Both were delicious, but the ham&cheese was my absolute favorite. Warm, soft bread, and decent size. I also ordered a mimosa. They provided fresh squeezed orange juice, which was a pleasant surprise. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is beautiful. Definitely check it out and support!

Google
Stopped here for an early lunch while visiting Denver. Lovely, well-lit space and was greeted right away. Tried the Argentinian and Maria’s empanada and they were both fantastic. The steak in the Argentinian was very tender and well-seasoned. Maria’s was a great vegetarian option with a wonderful balance of flavors. Was also impressed by the selection of drinks—I opted for a mango juice and it was so refreshing. Definitely a must stop for eating in if carrying out the next time I’m in the area.

Google
Delicious empanadas in a bright, airy, comfortable, stylish and fun location. Service was excellent and helpful. And don’t forget to try their Yerba Mate tea!

Google
I was looking for coffee shop vibes and a delicious snack. This place had both, and excellent customer service, to boot! I enjoyed a seasonal beef empanada, and had to stop myself from getting all the desserts. They offer some tasty veg options for my vegetarian friends. I will be back next time I’m in town!

Google
Visitor to Denver and found the restaurant quite by accident. Had some very tasty empanadas. Layout was very relaxing.

Google
This is an amazing place. I've gone several times and the empanadas are delicious with a wide selection of flavors and ingredients. Combined with their high quality packaging, they make for a extra special gift for a company meeting or get-together with friends and family.

Google
I absolutely do not post negative reviews but I feel robbed so here we are…. I ordered caprese and what is this…. Where is the filling?!? For $6 this is wild.

Yelp
It was a cold, windy day and I had time to kill so I was just walking around on Platte. I was a little hungry but didn't want to sit down and commit to a full meal.....enter in Maria Empanada! I'm a huge proponent of hand hell yummies so this was a gift from the gods! Grabbed a couple to go and was surprised they were warm, so I put one in my purse then walked and ate the Napoli and it warmed my soul and filled my belly just enough. Acoustics are not great in here, I asked the women helping me a question twice so I like to think she couldn't hear me vs ignoring me. But regardless, this place is a Denver staple and happy they are in Platte! Added bonus for clean, onesie bathrooms.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning after my long morning walk to grab a quick bite. It was such a nice day and they had plenty of seating inside and out. They had so many different options along with come coffee and drink selections. I was able to check out very quickly and the women working the from was super nice. I ended up going with the potato and cheese and ham and egg. Honestly, the fillings were only okay but that might have been because of my choices (it was breakfast time). Love that they all have a stamp of something of the type of empanada directly on it. So cute!! I will definitely come back and give a few other options a try!

Yelp
Great empanada place! I like that if you buy more, the price gets cheaper for each one! I would recommend going here for empanadas and they have a lot of unique flavors! I would come back when I'm in Denver again! Street parking available!

Yelp
We ordered catering for a Thursday lunch. We hadn't done empanadas before so we thought this would be a fun change. The empanadas arrived hot and had a wide variety to fit everyones taste and eating habits. Some of the standouts in the bunch were the corn which was a meldy of red peppers, sweet corn and cheese. I enjoy the one called Maria which has a mix of carrots and zucchini and cheese. It was a huge hit with the vegetarian crowd. I also tried Argentina, a nice savory medley of steak, peppers, green onions and green olives. What makes Maria Empanadas different from some of the other empanada places I have tried, are the fillings. Maria's has a large variety of fillings to choose from. The dough is also thicker and softer. All around it was a solid choice for lunch.

Yelp
first time visiting Denver, CO and wanted to try some foooods!! Service: -I regret not getting her name, but she was friendly and funny and prompt and helpful! Knowledgeable especially since I was stuck between my choices (so many good ones..) so service was amazing Ambiance: -big space and cute decor and areas. There were people just solo eating and others coupled up, it was a really warm and clean feeling atmosphere! Food: Empanadas are all so neatly and fun-Ly labeled and THEY ARE DELICIOUS. The meat was tender, the chimmichuri was worth it too, very stacked with items in it. These are also good sized and the outside was deliciously crispy and flaky which is a mustttt for me!! I loved it. Wished we had eaten here first! Overall: I love empanadas and would come back!!

Yelp
Maria Empanada is a Denver classic that never seems to lose its stride. I remember watching them on Food Network a decade ago, longing for their empanadas when I lived in Florida. Maria Empanada was one of my first stops when I moved to Denver, and I've been eating here ever since. The LoHi/Platte St. location isn't the OG, but it's the quintessential Argentinian cafe. The restaurant is gorgeous, bright and cozy. The beautiful stained glass behind the counter sets you up for your meal. We think of empanadas as food on the go, but at this particular location it's worth dining in! I can proudly say I've tried every empanada. Please hold your applause! If I had to narrow it down, these are my top choices you can't skip. +Beef - the classic empanada flavor is rich, savory, and delectable. Paired with the chimichurri it's the perfect bite. +Caprese - as an Italian, this is my kryptonite. Basil, tomato and mozzarella. Whoever thought of this flavor combination inside of an empanada should be running this country. +Sierra - I love a little kick, and this one does the trick. Tender shredded chicken and smoky chipotles are chef's kiss. +Spinach - this is the most underrated one if you ask me. Loaded with spinach, cheese and a wonderful béchamel. +Napoli - their newest flavor only here for a limited time! Wine braised beef with tomato, cheese and oregano. Woah, flavor bomb! Going to Maria Empanada is like visiting an old friend. It suddenly transports you to great memories, while making you question why you don't get together more often. I absolutely love Maria Empanada!

Yelp
I stopped at Stanley market looking for a quick, quality bite to eat after work meeting in the area. Maria empanada delivered. I was greeted warmly by their staff and felt welcome as I walked up. Their empanadas were beautifully displayed in the case so I was able to pick which ones I wanted as I waited in line. I ordered a Mexican coke with their Diego and Argentina empanada, plus a tiramisu for desert. The Diego empanada- this has tender, braised chicken with sautéed onions and chimichurri sauce. The Argentina-seasoned Steak, with the deliceate crunch of sautéed red bell peppers, onions, green olives. This one was my favorite. The first bite had me say "wow, that's good" Don't forget to order your preferred sauce at the register. They have four flavors: chimicurri, green onion sour cream, chilli mayo, and asado grill. The tiramisu was light and creamy, a great sweet ending to a savory meal. They also offer other desserts that I'm excited to check out in the future. Grab these empanadas for a quick bite, whether it's dine-in, to-go, or a big batch for a party these hit the spot. They sell them by the dozen for you to make at home too! Grab them while they're hot or save some for later! Thank you to the team for a great lunch! I was on the road again in no time!

Yelp
We stopped by for empanadas after watching the Colorado Rockies play in Denver. The kind lady behind the counter stated she was bringing out fresh empanadas momentarily. She soon arrived with a full tray of empanadas to restock the counter. We ordered the Diego and the Argentina. Both were at the perfect temperature! They each had excellent flavor along with the perfect amount of filling. This place is well worth a stop when in the area!

Yelp
We stopped here on our tour of Denver, and let me tell you this was the perfect morning pick me up. This shop is located in a great location on platte street by commons park. The ambiance is simple but warming and you feel right at home. They have a variety of empanadas at the front and even a few desert choices, along with a variety of drinks to choose from. We picked the Caprese and Argentina, both very full insides and a couple dipping sauces with a spicy kick. We also got two more, the pear in Marsala and the chicken; savory and sweet; both hit just right! The spicy mayo and sour cream onion is just the right for a spicy and a cool kick with your food. Their service is quick and speedy and everything is very reasonably priced. The food is all hot and fresh, you can taste that these were made with care. Check this place out next time you are in Denver!

Yelp
Wow am I sad we don't have one of these in the Springs. We'd just gotten into Denver to visit the aquarium but were early and I was starving. So I thought..let's go see what's close by for something quick. We drove to the end of the street, parked and the first place we walked by was this restaurant. Walking in I knew we found something special. Every detail is thought out and works together to create something truly beautiful. There were so many empanadas to choose from, and after we ate ours (we went safe and ordered ham and cheese) I'm sad we didn't order an array of them to take home. 10/10 recommend. The service was incredibly fast and friendly as well. Now I'm just sad I'm going to have to drive an hour and some change just to come back. But I will and I can't wait.

Yelp
Ohh la la!! The moment we walked in we could tell this place was special. It was very clean and cozy, reminding me of simpler times in an Argentinian cafe. The staff was excellent, and they took the time to explain the empanadas and gave excellent recommendations. The food was divine, and when we asked for a side of salsa (50 cents each) they gave us a bunch for free! Live, laugh, Maria Empanadas.
google avatar

Jean S.

Yelp
This place is a total gem! They have the most delicious, fresh empanadas, and their selection runs from savory (with chicken, beef, cheese, etc) to sweet (dessert options with fruit). You're not getting any dry empanadas here! We tried the caprese, Argentina (beef), Sierra (chicken) and pear empanadas. Wish we would've gotten more! I love how the names of the empanadas are "written" on the top - super cool. Service is friendly and fast. The store front is beautiful and welcoming. You have to check this place out!
google avatar

Yelp
Traditional Argentinian Empanadas at its finest! Stay to eat and visit with friends while enjoying the friendly staff or take it to go. In true Argentinian fashion the flag is represented throughout the cafe and is bright and inviting. Stay for a drink of Sangria made with fresh squeezed OJ! Various different types of fillings for everyone whether you're a meat eater or a vegetarian, you'll want to try it all! Come out and support this locally women owned business!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice quick service empanada restaurant. Very clean on the inside and plenty of seating. The empanadas were good and had a decent amount of filling. The sauces that came with were okay. One was "spicy" but it really wasn't. For a quick meal I would definitely recommend stopping by. Prices were reasonable.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Loved how the food is on display. Fast and friendly service (plenty of smiles). The music was slightly loud but was probably due to where I sat. Loved the inside dining with the open windows. All around great exexperience!!!!

Mary Kate K.

Yelp
Great customer service and tasty empanada will be coming back. Cody atmosphere and has fresh squeezed orange juice so will be back to try that
google avatar

Melissa Z.

Yelp
So yummy! Stopped in to bring a few empanadas home. Ended up buying the six pack deal! I got six different types and all were so good and fresh! The place is very clean and service was very friendly. Love a good empanada! These are top tier in the area for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
Glad to see Maria Empanadas across from my new office so I could have an easy and delicious spot to come for lunch. They have roughly 15 kinds of empanadas to pick from and I've never had one I didn't like. Service is quick and friendly. Very clean and crisp looking space. I love the lighting features. Cool vibes too with good music and soccer on the tv. Parking could be tricky- lots of garages and meters but you have to pay.
google avatar

Carlos C.

Yelp
A spot worth checking out! Service was good. Chorizo Empanada could be spicer. I think that'll enhance the flavor. However, they do have salsas for sale if you do want to spice it up. Argentina Empanada slaps. Definitely recommend this. Add some salsa to it and I'm sure the flavor would be even better. Nutella empanada was good too. They cover it in powdered sugar so it could get a bit messy if you eat it while you're on the go. Would definitely come back!

Steve U.

Yelp
Me n my mom thought we would try this place since were always at that chicken place. Ordered 3 different one and 2 were cold and all were genuinely nasty. I wish I could get a refund the dough was disgusting as well, wish we didn't waste r money here today.
google avatar

Yadira R.

Yelp
Located in downtown Denver on a busy street. This was my first stop after arriving at Denver. My brother swear by this Argentinian empanadas and I just had to try them for myself. First I was warmly greeted and explained the different options. There's So many options including some veggie ones. I decided go with the classic beef, a chicken chimichurri and the breakfast chorizo to try, I also took a bite of the Argentina one and all of them were absolutely delicious. I also took the Nutella one and OMG. Super yummy! Absolutely loved this location and I would be back.
google avatar

Ankita P.

Yelp
Picked up a corn and cheese empanada as well as the Argentina, and Diego. Soooo yum! Usually i have empanadas as a snack but these were so delicious, soft AND crunchy, moist.... Each empanada held its own unique flavor. I ended up eating a meals worth of empanadas. The service was so good and knowing it is a woman run business encourages me to continue my support. I highly recommend and I will be back!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The food exceeded my expectations, honestly. The chorizo empanada was warm, hearty, and extremely flavorful (not spicy for those who don't handle spice well!). I paired it with a side of onion sour cream (extra $0.59 per sauce), highly recommend. The caramelized pear empanada was good but room temp and for a bite sized portion it was only a dollar cheaper. Next time I'm going for 2-3 entree empanadas now that I know how good they are. The atmosphere is really inviting. Bright colors. Earthy tones. Plants. Overall just a nice spot for brunch or lunch. The place was spotless as well. The man serving me didn't speak English well, and that's okay, the only reason that mattered is because I tried asking for suggestions on what to get and he couldn't understand my question. So I just pointed to things and he gave me a thumbs up or down. We made it work and he was soooo nice and patient while I decided. Overall I would recommend this spot to anyone down in the area or even a lunch spot after shopping at REI. There's also a $7 parking lot right next to it

Yelp
Delicious stop in LoDo while on a dog sitting gig. We came in 15 mins before close and the lady was happy to serve us (or at least pretended to be!) We got 5 empeñadas for 30 bucks + tip and some yummy drinks as well. The server gave us an extra one for free because one of them was sort of falling apart. Got our food to go but ate outside on the yellow furniture. Some great people watching on a saturday night! Overall, easy and convenient stop if you're in the area. The food was DELICIOUS. My favorite was the caprese which was more like a calzone! But diego and chicken were delicious too. It's cool that the different empeñadas are actually labeled on the tortilla!

Aaron L.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful experience! Not only was the food incredible, but the service and staff were wonderful. Santiago went out of his way to make an outstanding personalized experience. Everyone needs to stop in at least once!

Andrew B.

Yelp
Overall 10/10 we have definitely marked this as our Go-To places when visiting Denver! Food ,Service, Ambiance is amazing!!
google avatar

Yelp
Enjoyed going to this iconic location and trying their empanadas. They have a homey atmosphere with colorful design. Seating was plentiful and we loved the display of food items. I really like their beef empanada the best. I tried 3 (beef Classico (Ground Angus beef, red bell peppers, hard-boiled eggs, green onions, green olives), Argentina (Steak, red bell peppers, hard-boiled eggs, green onions, green olives) and the Ham & cheese (Ham, Buffalo style mozzarella blend, oregano). This makes for a great lunch or even a snack throughout the day. Just scrumptious. If I make it back to this area, I will try more.
google avatar

DeeShawn R.

Yelp
A cute little place serving many different flavors of empanadas. I got the Argentina and chicken chimchurri. They were pretty decent sized and I thought they weren't going to be warm since they were all displayed out but I was wrong. A little underwhelming in flavor but it was good. Nothing amazing but above average for sure. A tiny cost for about 2 tablespoons worth cost 0.59 which I thought was pretty high since most places comes with sauce or have a sauce station out
google avatar

Ginger S.

Yelp
The Scarlett Vetter says....Cute little empanada place. Authentic. I was with a small Denver Foodie tour. We stopped here for a snack. The selection of empanadas is quite impressive with all different varieties from Ham and Cheese to Chicken Chimichari, Sierra, Argentina, Beef Classico, Corn, Spinach, Caprese, Veggie and 2 Breakfast choices. Prices were more than I expected for a handheld pocket sandwich but the offerings were quite delicious!
google avatar

Beth E.

Yelp
Just happened to see this place, and the yellow umbrellas outside looked inviting, and who doesn't love a good empanada! The inside is very cute, with lots of tables and chairs and decorated nicely. There is a showcase full of empanadas from which to choose and they all look yummy. I chose Argentina and Ham and Cheese. You could buy sauce to dip them in, but I am more of a plain eater so didn't opt into them. They are warmed up and given to you on a small silver tray. I wish they could mark them rather than me tearing into them to see which one was which. In the end, they were both very tasty and I would get both of them again.

Ellie G.

Yelp
What a gem! The food, service and ambiance were all excellent. We tried a variety and they all impressed equally.

Yelp
If you're looking for a snack in the form of the most warming, delicious pocket of comfort food, Maria Empanada is the place for you. My husband and I stopped in here while walking by one day. We had walked by here so many times without going in, and we finally decided we needed to give it a try! We are SO glad we did. The shop was clean and cozy - especially with the Christmas decor during the holiday season. There were so many empanada options to choose from which made it so fun - and difficult - to choose. We truly just wanted a snack, so we each got one empanada - I got the mushroom and my husband got the Italian breakfast sausage. We got both with a side of sauce - I can't remember the name, but it was so tasty. AND of course, the empanadas were delicious - both were stuffed with the tastiest ingredients and were so warming on the chilly day we wandered in. We will obviously be back many times to get the half dozen order of empanadas because I truly want to try every single one of these delicious pockets of joy.
google avatar

Jessie W.

Yelp
Delicious empanadas and coffee drinks! The price is awesome for what you get. Love the inside cute very clean! Friendly staff! You won't be disappointed!!
google avatar

Keanie T.

Yelp
They had a huge amount of empanada choices, most savory and a couple sweet options. I had the Argentina and the mushroom. Both were very delicious but the Argentina is a favorite. Each empanada has the selection written on top so you won't get confused with group orders. Definitely a just try if you are over in the highlands area.
google avatar

Edward S.

Yelp
The empanadas here are superb. They are displayed behind a glass counter like sweet pastries and baked treats. Each empanada has its own signature shapes and folds. The difficulty lies in selecting the ones you'll sample.  Beef Classico: This is a traditional ground Angus beef, red bell peppers, hats boiled eggs, green onions, and green olives. The crust is wonderful soft and doughy inside with the correct firmness outside. You have to pay 49 cents extra for sauce, but you need to get the chimichurri to dip the empanadas in.  Argentina (Specialty): This specialty empanada has steak, red bell peppers, hats boiled eggs, green onions, and green olives. Corn: This one is filled with sweet corn, red bell peppers, parmesan cheese, and green onions.
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
One of our go-to's any time of day! They have a huge selection of empanadas and I have yet to try one I have disliked. My favorites are the corn and the chicken chimichurri. You can get them to-go or dine there. There is a dog friendly patio. Service is always fast and efficient. We find it to be such a tasty and convenient spot to grab a bite and even bring our dog!
google avatar

Brandon F.

Yelp
Flaky and delicious! While working at the WeWork on Platte, I discovered this spot after seeing a line out the door. To avoid waits, definitely come here during non-peak hours. The website was really clear to order from and I was able to place my order and pay in a handful of minutes. I ordered a beef Classico and chicken chimichurri empanada. Each one is priced reasonably at 4.79 and 5.49 respectively. It was not extremely filling, I would have eaten 3 empanadas, but I do have a large appetite! The taste of the food was really delicious. I would compare it to the empanadas you night find from a local non-chain shop. I would definitely return for lunch.
google avatar

Gen B.

Yelp
4.5 stars rounded up. This was a solid find for a relaxed weekend brunch on the go! I enjoyed the empanadas, especially the spinach and the breakfast one with chorizo. The desserts and coffee looked good too. I didn't love the sweet chili mayo sauce, and I do wish they gave one free sauce instead of charging for each one. I'll be back!
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
We love Maria's! Always my go to empanada place, there's a lot of options for breakfast or lunch. There are vegetarian options too, but I don't think vegan because I'm assuming they use eggs in their dough. There are also banana and nutella empanadas for a sweet treat. This is a newer location and we just feel like it's not the same as the OG Broadway location, BUT we still come regardless when on I-25 needing a snack before driving for a while. ALWAYS GET THE SAUCES TO DIP!!! It makes it a whole other experience. I love the sweet chili mayo and always get 1 sauce per empanada but my boyfriend just gets 1 sauce per 2 empanada. Point is just get some sauces, you'll find out which is your fav and you'll be happy you did. There's street parking and we always have gotten lucky with snagging a front parking spot. It's always been a quick stop for us too, never have had to wait!
google avatar

Lauren L.

Yelp
I was a bit hungover and my husband surprised me with two vegetarian breakfast empanadas. One cheese, and one spinach. They were delicious. I did a little happy dance. I also felt better, so maybe they have some healing powers too. I'm not a doctor, that was just my personal experience. The cheese reminded me a bit of pizza. I will definitely go back to try the other vegetarian options.

Brittany T.

Yelp
Great empanadas in a great location. I loved the ham and cheese empanada, as well as the mushroom. They were hot and fresh for us. We ate in the restaurant, but I noticed a lot of people ordering to go. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Tracey P.

Yelp
A good spot for a quick bite to eat. Friendly service and delicious empanadas. Had the classic beef and mushroom empanadas. Came here around 10am and sat around and chilled for a bit before our next stop. No crowd whatsoever.
google avatar

Mychelle A.

Yelp
Maria Empanadas is nice! They have outside dining space, it's very clean , smells nice and the decor is super cute! Excellent customer service, the staff was very helpful and patient helping me with my first visit! The food overall has a nice aroma and good looking. They have a lot of flavor options for the empanadas and deserts. However, I do think their prices are a little high for the quantity, I just paid 52$ for 6 small empanadas, two small oranges juices and one alfajor. They also charge you 50$ cents for one very small dip of sauce and the empanadas are decent quality. I would recommended it and maybe come back for the fresh orange juice which was amazing! :)
google avatar

Elise P.

Yelp
I stopped here around 11 on a Thursday and I got one empanada, a chicken one (I forget the actual full name). They had quite a selection and everything was warmed in heat lamps in the case. I had quick and friendly service and they gave me a cup to get water from a self service station off to the right of the register. The chicken empanada hit the spot and the ambiance of this fast casual restaurant was nice to warm up a bit before my next stop.
google avatar

Gina K.

Yelp
We walked in on a Friday evening prepared to delight our taste buds. We order the Half Dozen Empanadas (Corn, Veggie, Specialty, beef, chorizo, steak). The crust is delicious and perfectly toasted while the insides provide a variety of surprises. We liked the chorizo and steak the best.
google avatar

Liz K.

Yelp
Amazing empanadas. The corn one was my favorite and very fresh. This is a great quick option or place to order for a group.
google avatar

Sam J.

Yelp
Have heard good things about this place and went after dinner for a dessert empanada. Had the Nutella and apple empanadas. They were okay. I think I would have preferred them warmed up over cold. I want to go back to try their warm ones!
google avatar

Patrick M.

Yelp
Was so excited to try Maria's but have to admit I was underwhelmed. Limited choices, very pricey and Empanada's lacked flavor.
google avatar

Sherri G.

Yelp
Stopped by Maria Empanada today to try their breakfast empanadas. I had a Breakfast Italian Sausage empanada, a Breakfast Chorizo empanada and the Pears in Marsala empanada. The breakfast empanadas were tasty, but we felt that there needed to be some dipping sauce to accompany them as they were a bit dry. The dessert empanada was delicious, but way too small! It truly left me yearning for 3 more! I will return, but might be better eating it there while they're hot rather than bringing them home.
