Vintage garage space turning out hip Asian dishes with local ingredients & American influences.
"Part of a small and esteemed local Hawaiian-Korean fusion chain that now includes a location at T-Mobile Park, Marination Columbia City replaced neighborhood darling Super Six (also owned by the Marination folks) in 2022, and carries on the aloha fries tradition. This is the hangover brunch of your sordid dreams, where the chicken is invariably fried and the lemongrass-infused bloody mary is garnished with Spam. A dish consisting of fries, spicy hollandaise, and spinach, all topped with a fried egg, is dubiously dubbed the “Healthy Hangover” (presumably on account of the spinach), and while we can’t speak to its health benefits, it has been known to have hangover-curing properties." - Sophie Grossman, Eater Staff
"At Super Six, a Columbia City Hawaiian restaurant, you can order virtually any entree with any appetizer or drink and come out spending under $30. That includes loco moco and wings, spicy salmon poke and a hibiscus margarita, and kimchi fried rice and lumpia. And if you feel like spending a little extra, you can do a family-style “luau” that involves spam musubi, kalua pork, huli huli chicken, furikake popcorn, rice, mac salad, roasted vegetables, malasadas, grilled pineapple, and sweet rolls with guava butter, all for $29 per person." - aimee rizzo
"Hawaiian-Korean restaurant Super Six in Columbia City, along with all sibling Marination locations, made the same call." - Gabe Guarente
"Columbia City’s Korean-Hawaiian restaurant has plenty of popular brunch items and game day appropriate snacks, such as Spam sliders and chili bowls. For the Super Bowl, it’s adding pork katsu nuggets (8 piece or 16), with tonkatsu sauce on the side. There are also some beer and cocktail options to go. Preorders available through the website." - Gabe Guarente
"I miss the experience of counter seating at my favorite bars and at places like Geraldine’s Counter and Super Six [edit note: both are still open for takeout and limited outdoor dining]." - Gabe Guarente
