Mariscos El Faro is a Highland Park food truck serving up authentic Sinaloa-style seafood like ceviche and rich shrimp empanadas, all enjoyed picnic-style in a charming park setting.
"Mariscos El Faro is a Sinaloa-style seafood truck that will convince you to stay well past your 30-minute lunch break. Located outside a park off Figueroa, the truck sets up a few tables and stools on the sidewalk where you can enjoy an ice-cold michelada, fresh oysters, and their signature aguachile in a Clamato-y sauce with big heat from crushed chiltepín chiles. Everything we've tried from the truck's impressively large menu is delicious, which explains our tendency to over-order when we come here (and take a nap under a tree at the park afterward)." - brant cox, sylvio martins, andrew ryce, cathy park
"Relaxing at the park is great, but doing it while eating mariscos is even better. Mariscos El Faro offers you to the chance to do both at its park-adjacent Highland Park location, where the food truck serves beautifully simple Sinaloa-style mariscos like tender sea bass tostadas and very good red aguachiles. Both dishes come marinated in the truck’s special sauce that’s acidic and tomato-y with a big kick from chiltepín chiles. And since the weather is probably part of the reason you wanted to visit the park in the first place, Mariscos El Faro’s delicious micheladas are also a perfect choice on a warm, sunny day. "For a decade, this Highland Park truck has been parked at the same quiet public park, making it a perfect spot to grab mariscos to go or stick around for a long lunch when you want to play hooky. A lot of the flavors in El Faro's michelada remind us of the tangy salsa roja found on the truck's signature aguachile, which has a refreshing tomato-heavy, clam broth base we're really into. These miches are never too salty or spicy because they're definitely more "chela" than mix. That's fine with us, especially on an afternoon at the park—errr, we mean lunch break." - sylvio martins
"Life in Los Angeles is fast-paced, even when you’re going 15 mph on the 110. That’s why we need places like Mariscos El Faro to remind us to slow down and enjoy a leisurely lunch. This Highland Park food truck parks on a quiet street beside a park flanked by shady trees. A friendly mother-and-son duo set up a few plastic tables and stools, so you can sit down with a salt-cured sea bass tostada that tingles your lips with chiltepín, oysters doused with Valentina, and a crisp michelada that tastes twenty times better under the sun. And once you finish the mound of shrimp you ordered, maybe take a nap on the grass." - brant cox, garrett snyder, jess basser sanders, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"Some of the best hangover cures come from food trucks, but Mariscos El Faro goes the extra mile in hospitality. The mariscos truck in Highland Park sets up tables and stools so you can stay off your quivering legs and comfortably enjoy their fresh oysters, creamy mackerel ceviche, and shrimp aguachile with fiery chiltepín to get a healthy cleanse going. El Faro is also next to a quiet park, making the whole experience very relaxing. We also support bringing a picnic blanket and taking a nap at the park after––it’s been a rough morning." - kat hong, brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder
